i have one time capsule in Ground floor but the signal is very weak in the first floor? how can i improve the Quality internet signal???

The best software to do what you want, is not on a Mac. It is a router.. gargoyle.
You can keep using the TC as wifi source but get a router that can can take gargoyle firmware.. the best in my testing is netgear WNDR3700. Gargoyle itself is a free download.

There are other routers and router boards it will work on.. but make sure you pick something compatible. I have used several different routers and the one above is the best so far.

It may not be possible..
If they use a web access page, then there is no way you can set the TC to authenticate.. you must use the computer to authenticate and then use the computer to bridge to the TC for wireless clients to access.
Look up instructions on using ICS (internet connection sharing) in the Mac.

i'm assuming this is the new 3tb tc AC or 'tower' shape, if so, its wifi will run circles around your at&t device
unplug the at&t box for a minute and plug it back in
factory reset your tc - unplug it, hold down reset and keep holding while you plug it back in - only release reset when amber light flashes in 10-20s
connect the tc to your at&t box via eth in the wan port, wait 1 minute, open airport utility look in 'other wifi devices' to setup the tc
create a new wifi network (give it a different name than your at&t one) and put the tc in bridge mode (it may do this automatically for you, but you should double check) under the 'network' tab
login to your at&t router and disable wifi on it
add new clients to the new wifi network, and point your Macs to the time machine for backups -

Please help me.....The best way is to plug the TC by ethernet to main router in the new place. Reset it to factory.. see instructions and then it will appear in your airport utility.
You cannot connect to two different wifi signals at the same time.. if you "join the wireless" the TC will perform poorly.
Universal Factory Reset.. any model TC or AE.
Unplug your TC/AE from power or turn off at the power point.
Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on.. all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. (this is often difficult without a 2nd person or a 3rd arm).
Release it when the status light flashes rapidly. If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have missed it and try again.
Note..
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel.. add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations of the router.
No files are deleted on the hard disk in a TC.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility. -

How do i set my time capsule up to function as an external hard drive? Is this even possible? I had a friend tell me it woudl be a good set up to get a time capsule with my Macbook Air to use as a gigantic external hard drive but then was unbale to wlak me through the setup after I bought the equipment. It depends on what you already have equipment wise..
Just bridge the TC..
I cannot walk you through it either if you use v6 airport utility.. due to my refusing to run Lion until it gets network issues sorted.

Go to manual setup..
Internet tab
Connection sharing.. select off bridge mode in the drop down box.
You can then if you like turn off wireless under airport wireless.. The TC is now a plain network client with hard disk.
Personally I would keep the wireless on but sort the channels manually if you already have a wireless AP or router. -

The TC should be in bridge mode.. not setup to share over wan.. that will never work. That is assuming you haven't bridged the ATT router.
Once you bridge the TC see if you can setup BTMM using icloud settings in the TC. As per the Apple docos.. here.
You should also be able to directly access the TC since you have a router with dyndns client at a guess.. the setup is simply forward port 548 to the TC.

Use an Ethernet cable to connect from one of the LAN <--> ports on your existing wireless router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule and then use the setup "wizard" on your Mac to configure the Time Capsule.
It will suggest that you set up the Time Capsule to create a new wireless network. If you don't want or need another wireless network, you can turn off the wireless function of the Time Capsule and use it as wired hard drive only.
Leave the Ethernet cable connected at all times. If you need to locate the Time Capsule in a different area, you can put it anywhere that the Ethernet cable will reach up to about 330 feet or 100 meters.
The only exception to using an Ethernet cable would be if your existing wireless network is provided by another Apple router. Then.....you would have the option to have the Time Capsule connect using wireless and extend the network, although using a wired connection would still be the better way to go in terms of performance. -
My problem is that I don't know how to use my Time Capsule with Ethernet Cable, as when I use wireless it is really slow.
Make sure that there is an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on your modem/wireless router to the WAN port on the Time Capsule
Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the page
Change the setting for Wireless Mode to Off (I assume that you do not want the Time Capsule to provide a wireless network since you already have a wireless network)
Next, click the Internet icon at the top of the screen, then click the Internet Connection tab
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click the Update button at the bottom and wait 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart and display a green light
Then, you must power off your entire network...all devices....in any order that you want
Wait a minute
Start your modem/router first and let it run a minute
Start the Time Capsule and let it run a minute
Keep starting devices one at a time until everything is powered up
If you are using Time Machine for backups, you will need to reset the connection because you have changed the way in which the Time Capsule connects to your network
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Open Time Machine
Click Select Disk
Click the Time Capsule to highlight it
Click Use for Backup or, it might be Use Disk
Now you can connect your Mac using an Ethernet cable to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to back up using Ethernet. Be sure to turn off the wireless on your Mac before you start the backup.
If you want to backup using wireless, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Mac to the Time Capsule and turn on the wireless and connect to your wireless network. Your computer will now backup using wireless. -

I now wish to add a second Airport extreme but am considering a hard wire connection with 100 ft of cat 6 cable from the Time capsule to the second Airport extreme. Yes, but don't get confused about the second AirPort Extreme, as it would not be configured to "extend" a wireless network.....it would be configured to "create a wireless network" using the same wireless network name, security settings and password as the Time Capsule network. Configure the second Extreme in Bridge Mode.

I just upgraded from my 2008 MacBook to a new Macbook Pro. How do I get my time capsule to work on my new MacBook? I did data migration, but the time capsule did not pick it up. Any ideas?
If you migrated all the info from time machine to your new MBP. The TM will usually ask to connect to the old backups.. sorry I am not sure is this what you want to do.. Personally I think you start a fresh backup.
BTW Time Capsule does not do anything.. it is a dumb hard disk in a box.. it is TM that does everything.

You can leave the Time Capsule connected by Ethernet from the Linksys and configure for a "roaming" network as mentioned previously.
To do this, open AirPort Utility - Manual Setup
Click the Wireless tab below the icons
Wireless Mode = Create a wireless network
Wireless Network Name = Same name as the AirPort Extreme
No check mark needed next to Allow this network to be extended
Radio Mode = Same setting as the AirPort Extreme
Channel = Automatic
Wireless Security = Same setting as the AirPort Extreme
Wireless Password = Same password as the AirPort Extreme
Confirm Password
Click the Internet icon, then the Internet Connection tab
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Update to save settings and allow the Time Capsue to restart
Then power down the entire network
Wait a minute or two
Start the modem first and let it run a full minute
Start the AirPort Extreme the same way
Power up the switch
Power up the Time Capsule for a minute
Keep starting devices one at a time about a minute apart
Now, your computer will automatically pick up a wireless signal from either the AirPort Extreme or Time Capsule, whichever device is closer and providing the stronger signal. -

I already have a wireless router that I use with my iMac and other devices. I have a Timecapsule that I bought to use as a backup device and as a wireless router, but it won't keep a connection. How do I use the Time Capsule with Time Machine as "just" an external hard drive without it interfering with my current wireless network?
Much depends on the version of the utility you use.. but you are correct that the main documentation is well out of date.
Most of these things are supposed to happen without your needing to know anything.. ie the apple utility has a built in setup wizard is is supposed to get it right 100% of the time..
Not surprisingly this doesn't actually work more than about 66% of the time and even then can still prefer the wrong setup over the right one.
So click on edit.. and go into the manual setup.
Go to the Internet tab and choose dhcp.
Go to the Network tab and choose off (bridge mode).
Go to the wireless tab and choose whatever you want. -

I bought the new Time Capsule 2T. I do travel a lot and want access to my files on the HDD of the Time Capsule. Despite some info on the internet I can not connect my Time Capsule over the internet. Any ideas how I can set my Time Capsule in such a way that I am able to connect over the internet.

TS1589 Problem with Time Capsule Connectivity
I am in Italy using OSX 10.7.5, a Time Capsule, and a Vonage box (Motorola VT2442-TD). I switched from ADSL to Eolo Satellite, and everything was working until I tried to extend the network using a second wifi device. I really must have screwed up the Time Capsule configuration, because it is not working. It does not connect to the Internet, does not have the correct DNS settings, and the message in AirPort Utilities says the disk needs to be repaired.
I tried running Disk Utility, but the Time Capsule does not even show up. Plus, sometimes when I unplug then replug it, the solid amber light is on for awhile and then there is no light at all.
How do I repair the Time Capsule and reconfigure it to work with my system?
Since I have VOIP and that is not working as well, I cannot call Apple.
Thanks for any help you can give.This is standard Mac issues and has been a bug floating around since Lion.. it hits some people worse than others.. but once it starts it is awful hard to get rid of.
Just to confirm the connection to internet is not a problem?? Just the hard disk drops out?
I recommend you
1. Reset the TC to factory.. and start over with all new names.. short, no spaces pure alphanumeric.
TC name and wireless name/s should conform. By default the disk share name is data which is fine.
2. Mavericks has changed over from using AFP to SMB for network filesharing.. why Apple why??
This is unhelpful to say the least. Many many people are struggling with TC and being unable to mount the network drive.
So do it manually and force it back to AFP.
In Finder use top menu, Go, Connect to Server.
Type AFP://TCname or TCIPaddress (it must be the network name of actual TC.. or its IP address)
When the computer locates the resource it will ask for a password.. it is public by default.. supply your password or public and save it in the keychain.
3. Delete the existing TM setup and start over.. See A4 here. http://pondini.org/TM/Troubleshooting.html
I cannot promise this will fix it but should reduce the problem to now and then.. rather than every time TM needs to backup.
