HP Photosmart D7260 need the introductory ink cartridges?

I was given this printer. It was new and never hooked up before but the introductory ink wasn't given to me with the printer. I had no problem downloading the drivers and setting it up until it got to checking the ink. It gave me an error messages ( I bought all new ink cartridges) about the ink not being the intro ink that came with the printer. Is there some way around this, if not, does someone have a link to where I can buy another set of the introductory ink so I can finish getting this printer set up?

  • HP Photosmart C6180 printer. Says the magenta ink cartridge is empty when it is new.

I own a HP Photosmart C6180 printer.  It sat for several months so I replaced all of the ink cartridges.  It will not print because it says the magenta ink cartridge is empty.  It is brand new and i can see the ink inside of it.  I am not sure what to do.  I don't want to take it to get serviced as I live several hours from any computer or printer repair shop.  Please help!

    Hi pbeck39
What are the ink levels like on a self test page - are they good? Are you using Win XP x64 by any chance?
    Thanks

  • Photosmart 7510 not printing photo ink when it should, but using up all the other ink cartridges.

I'm printing photos, mostly black and white, and all my regular cartridges are almost depleted when I thought they were printing from the photo ink cartridge.  I want the photo ink cartridge to be used and it still shows full.  I had to run out and get new cartridges which is becoming expensive.
I have windows 7 and I use the Windows Photo Viewer to print the photos.
I need steps in how to set my printer properties so that the photo ink cartridge is used.
As of now, the way I look at it, it would be less expensive to go to Wal-Mart or a local grocery store and print my photos there.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
Photo ink is actually black and under normal printing (including printing photos) it can last 3 times longer than other inks.
    Regards.

  • The black ink cartridge is not empty but won't print.

On my Photosmart Plus B10, the black ink will not print.  I was using an HP size 564 XL cartridge and I could hear the ink in it, so it wasn't empty.  I cleaned the printhead and when that didn't work, I installed a new cartridge.  Still won't print.  The other three cartridges function properly.  Willl I need to replace my printer because of this problem?

Hi, is the printer in warranty? If not, one thing worth a shot is soaking the printhead as described below....
    1) Get a pan and put 1/2" of very hot (not boiling) water in the bottom.
    2) Next remove all the ink cartridges, then remove the printhead assembly.
    3) Gently put the printhead nozzles down in the water and let it soak for five minutes.
    4) Remove the printhead and gently dry the electrical contacts.
    5) Put the printhead back in the printer and then reinstall the ink cartridges.

  • How can I print using only the black ink cartridge?

I have a officejet 4620 that I need to know how to set up to have the option of using the black ink cartridge only. I rarely ever use color ink and I dont want $30 worth of color ink to dwindle away while printing pages that do not need any sort of quality printing. How can I change this setting? I have a Mac and there are hardly any options when trying to print anything.
    Thanks!

Hello @downeyke , and welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you are looking into black ink options.  I would love to try and help you, but I do need a little information first. I am linking an HP Support document below that will show you how to find which version of the Mac operating system you are using.  With this information we can provide you with accurate information.

  • How can I get my HP DeskJet 6540 to recognize the new ink cartridges I installed?

Hi everyone. I have an HP DeskJet 6540 printer and I replaced the ink cartridges. After I replaced the cartridges, I aligned them and then did a test print. I noticed that the blank ink didn't print. I opened system preferences, and then I opened the printer utility. It says, "Device Status : Pen Failure." Current Supplies Levels says, "The current levels for the selected printer are shown below...Cartridge on the left (tri-color 97) is unknown and the the cartridge on the right (black 96) is missing." Oh, I forgot to mention that the print cartridge light on the left side is flashing. I went to the HP support website and it says that the problem could be an incorrect print cartridge, incompatible print cartridge, or problem with the (left/right) print cartridge.  The solution they offered was to remove, inspect and reseat the problem cartidge. It also said to clean the problem cartridge contacts. I did that and it still gives me the same results. I even reset the printer but still got the same results...
So the next thing I try is the OTHER cartridges listed as compatible with my printer which is 94 (black) and 95 (tri-color). I bought the new cartridges, placed them in the printer and I still got the same message from the print utility. I took the latter cartridges back and got a refund and explained that none of the compatible cartridges are working with my printer. I kept the 96 and 97 cartridges in the printer and the light on the left continues to flash so now I'm here asking if anyone knows how I can get my printer to recognize the new ink cartridges I installed?  Are there any other solutions that I have besides throwing the printer out of the window? :-)
    Thanks everyone ;-)

With all that you have done it does sound like the printer has a fault. If you haven't tried turning off the printer for several minutes, then this would be worth trying (maybe you have done this when you say reset the printer?).
If the cartridge light on the printer flashes when you turn the printer back on then it sounds like a hardware fault - not the driver or the operating system. And this is not usually something a user can resolve so it would need repair. And for the cost of a new printer, why would you bother.
If you plan of sticking with HP and getting another model that can use the 96 & 97 cartridges (let's face it, they often cost more than the new printer), then take the two existing cartridges to the store and see if they will let you check they are okay. No point throwing them out also if they still have a fair bit of ink still in them.

  • Black ink is not printing but the printer states that the black ink cartridge is full

    Hi.
I was printing something and the printer was working fine after i changed the black ink cartridge. After a few minutes, i continued to print and the ink was extremely light (almost unseeable unless it was held up to a light) for some words and non-existing for others. I tried cleaning the printerhead and the ink cartridge as well as resetting the ink cartridge but that did not help. I tried using anther black ink catridge but that didn't help. The printer does not state that the cartridge is damage or low in ink. When i printed the quality status, it stated that ink levels were good but showed the box for the black in to be completely empty. I tried to use the clean cartridge and align cartridge functions in tools but that did not help. Rather, when i performed the aligned cartridge, it stated that the alighment failed. I'm not sure what I should do to fix this problem? Any suggestions?

  • Can I use the black ink cartridge only, & quit replacing the color cartridge when it's empty?

I have an HP Officejet 6210 all in one printer that takes color ink (#95) and black ink (#94).   I only want to print in black and white.   The color cartridges are more expensive and since I don't want to use them, I don't want to replace it.  Can I have the printer bypass the color cartridge (and the notifications that come with an emply cartridge) so it will allow me to use the black cartridge (#94) only and let the #95 sit there empty?  (ie it tries to print from there and I get the blank sheets...want to default it to the black ink cartridge 100% of time.)  I waste too much money on ink and wish to use the cheaper cartridge (#94) always.

Can't agree more. HP's strategy of getting more sells of its cartrige is notorious. It really drives consumers away. I am ditching my HP printer and getting a Brother instead.

  • I changed the black ink cartridge - does not print

I changed the black ink cartridge to a refilled one, but as it did't work , changed it to a genuine one.  Now the printer does not print, though it seems to be working, all I get is plank pages.  I unplugged the printer, but it didn't help.  what can I do?
The genuine cartridge is new and has ink. I changed an other cartridge too  (blue) , but this one to a genuine one, and it is working if I copy/print coloured pictures.

Hi there, which printer model do you have?

  • I am trying to print a document. The light comes on that the Cyan ink cartridge is out of ink

I am trying to print a document.  The light comes on that the Cyan ink cartridge is out of ink....it is at least half full...i have shaken it, disconnected the printer from power source and the pc...still will not stop flashing.  Oh, sorry...it is a hp business inkjet printer
    Windows XP

It could be that the cartridge failed.  Replace it with a new one and check.

  • I have a officejet j4680 All-In-One printer. I cannot get the black ink cartridge to stay in place

The black ink cartridge will not stay in place it keeps popping out when I place the color ink cartridge first. When I take the color cartridge out and put the black ink cartridge in it stays.
Is there a trick to replacing the black ink cartridge?

Make sure it is a genuine HP cartridge.  Take it out and clean the contact on the cartridge and in the printer.  Try again.

  • Aaargghh!! On a deadline and the Black Ink cartridge isn't working!

Now I see a gazillion people have had this issue, with no real solution than either throwing out the printer or waiting for some magical thing to happen. Or a secret message from Ciara B. C'mon, HP. This is ridiculous. Give me a better solution.

As it's out of warranty, one thing worth trying is soaking the printhead as described below...
    1) Get a pan and put 1/2" of very hot (not boiling) water in the bottom.

  • How do I reset the 940 ink cartridge chip on Officejet Pro 8500 Premier?

I have refilled my 940 ink cartridge and now I can't get my printer to print. I get the error message that I do not have enough ink to ensure printer health. My ink is full.

Hi sparkplugYou could maybe try resetting the printer...http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02005923&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=3752456&tmp_track_link=ot_search  Note though, as BikerMike has already pointed out,  refills tend to not to have the same reliability as originals...http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00853819&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_US...  Kind Regards, Ciara

  • My L7680 all in one has the same problem need to replace ink cartridge

    Hi
I'm having the same problem with my L7680 all in one printer. Just went to change the yellow printer ink and got the message to change it. It's not hooked up to any PC but my yellow cartridge keeps saying it needs to be replaced. I've unplugged, restarted etc after removing, replacing and cleaning but it still won't work. It thinks the yellow cartridge needs to be replaced. I'm going to try to hold the # sign and 3 numbers down but its similar to holding the power button & cancel for a "hard reset" and that didn't work. Anyone with any more things to try? Or is it time to replace the printer?
Sorry for the duplication I posted in replys in error

Hi - Looks like you were throrough with your troubleshooting.  At this point, I'd recommend taking the cartridge back to the point of purchase and exchanging it for another one.  It could just be a defective cartridge.  Unfortunately, if that doesn't resolve it, looks like you've got a printer hardware problem.

  • Need MICR compatible ink cartridge for Officejet Pro 8500A Premium to print checks.

I need to print bank accepted checks on my Officejet Pro 8500A Premium printer using MICR ink.  I cannot find a compatible MICR cartridge for this printer.  There are MICR cartridges available for other HP printers.  Does anyone know of a compatible cartridge?

Try using the multilevel uninstaller in the HP software driver CD. Browse the contents of the CD and look for the "Util" folder and open it. In the "Util" folder, open the "CCC" folder. In the "CCC" folder, double click on the "Uninstall_L3.bat" file. Don't use the "Uninstall_L4.bat" file. It could remove files that have shared dependencies with the HP software. Restart the computer and then reinstall the software afterwards. Let me know if it worked or not.
