  • TS4036 I need to restore my iphone 5. Yesterday there was an icloud backup dated 4/1/14. Today I only see a backup with the lost data from 4/4/14. Itunes will not recognize my device, yet it is charging and importing pictures. Any suggestions?

Yesterday my autistic daughter was using my phone, as she often does.  Some things got deleted.  I went to do a restore and it showed the last backup was 4/1/14. My phone auto synced at 10:51 AM on 4/3/14.  I had to leave, and when I came back itunes no longer recognized my phone.  Its charging, it can import pictures, but nothing on itunes works.  I wanted to do a restore, but now I only see the 10:51 backup, which is after selected items were deleted.
My questions:  How can I make Itunes recognize my iphone (running windows 8)  How can I find the backup from 4/1/14, as it has the most current information?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Regards,
    Shelly

Well, there is always the possibility that it's been jailbroke, in which case, you're out of luck.  However...

Thanks, for info, iPod Classic is a slower machine compared the Nano, unfortunately, if you read these discussions, majority of the freezes involved iTunes 10. Although if might be just slow and some impatient user just disconnect the iPod ands cause more problems. ( Yes I also did that but safely by doing a iPod Hard Reset, before disconnecting).
Here is the Apple support article that may help you.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1717
or my usual solution for Windows Users.
Antivirus has a tendency to freeze iTunes sync Operation with iPod Classic, causing a timeout, which corrupt your iPod filesystem, so when iTunes can't read the iPod, it is pointing to this problem. Other causes is when your iPod hardisk is dying, or your battery is dying causing hardisk crashes.
    My suggestion.
Connect your iPod to the PC and run chkdsk, to fix any iPod diskerror, then disconnect it, after chkdsk complete.
Disconnect your PC from Internet. (just to make sure no nasties creep into your system while you syncing.
    Stop the Antivirus program
Connect your iPod to the PC, using a high speed USB 2.0 port at the back of your PC, do not use any USB Hub.
When iTunes Open up, Restore your iPod please, this is for iTunes to map correctly, to fix the corrupted filesystem.
When Restore complete, eject the iPod and reconnect again.
Sync your ipod, preferably manually Manage in small batches and disconnect after every batch, to check that all is well.
When all sync is complete, and iPod disconnected, start back your Antivirus and connect back the Internet.
    Good Luck!

  • IPod Gen 5, I need to reset it, but iTunes is not recognizing the device?

I have an iPod touch that the kids disabled, but when I plug it into the cpu in recovery mode windows recognizes it but iTunes doen't?  Please help?

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.
iOS: Forgot passcode or device disabled
If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

    For how to restore:
    iTunes: Restoring iOS software
    To restore from backup see:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.
    Then if necessary:

  • Why is ITunes 11 not recognizing mobile devices?

I recently performed a normal software update which consisted of the ITunes 11, the current version of ITunes.  Everything appears to be working properly, with the exception of managing mobile devices.  When plugged in, no prompts, windows, displays, or notifications of any kind appear as in previous versions of ITunes for mobile devices such as IPhone or IPad.
I went up into the drop down bar, and was able to find a tab labeled, "devices".  When you scroll to the options under devices, everything was grayed out and I was unable to synch, back up, etc anyting plugged in.
How am I able to remedy this issue?  Any suggestions encouraged.  Thanks for your time.

  • HT1386 windows is not recognizing my device

    hi there,
I am trying to plug in my ipod touch using the usb to the computer, and it chargers at first, then stops.    Can someone help with this program or should i just take the product back?
    Thank you

First off, you need to have iTunes installed.  You can get iTunes here:  http://www.apple.com/itunes/
Second, when you connect your device to your computer, Windows will make the "new hardware detected" (aka "happy beeps") sound.
Third, if you take a picture or two with your iPod and then connect the iPod to your computer, not only will Windows make the "happy beeps," for new hardware, an Auto Run dialog box will appear on your desktop and Windows will put a new drive letter in Explorer.

  • HT1923 i have installed the updated itunes but it is not recognizing my devices can anyone help

i have installed updated version of itunes but it is not recognizing my devices can anyone help

    Many thanks.
That suggests that another application has stashed old QuickTime componentry in your system files.
So just in case we'll go looking for older QuickTime componentry in the most common locations for it to be stashed.
First we'll need to change some view settings.
In your Start menu, open Computer.
In your Organise menu, select Folder Options.
In the View tab, make sure that "Show hidden files and folders" is selected, and Hide extensions for known file types is unchecked.
    Click OK.
Now in Computer, open your C:\ drive (or whichever drive you have your operating system installed on).
    Open the "Windows" folder.
If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, open the "System32" folder.
If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, open the "SysWOW64" folder.
What files and folders can you see in there with QuickTime in the title? (In a standard installation of Quicktime you should be seeing precisely two files... QuickTime.qts and QuickTimeVR.qtx ... and no QuickTime folders whatsoever.)
