HT1490 When my macbook is fully charged, does the charger switch the power supply off, or does it continue to 'charge'?

When my macbook is fully charged, does the charger switch the power supply off, or does it continue to 'charge'?
(If I leave my laptop to charge whilst I'm out and it reaches 'fully charged' but is still switched on, will this continue to 'charge' my laptop? Or will it destroy my batter over time?)

When the charge cycle completes, the pilot light on the MagSafe connector changes from orange to green. At that point the battery will be kept in standby mode, and the computer will be kept running with electrical power from the charger. If you want to keep an eye of where the power is coming from, get the latest release of the Coconut Battery utility: http://www.coconut-flavour.com/coconutbattery/

If you didn't back up the phone to iCloud or iTunes (on your computer) BEFORE attempting the update, the data will be lost.

  • Does a replacement charger run the risk of killing power supply

I have an ibook g4 and i just had to buy a new battery but it won't charge...the old one wasn't charging at all, and the new one won't either...i had to buy a replacement charger a few years ago, then about 4 months after that the computer stopped working.  When i brought it to get fixed, the man had an original charger and said the computer worked fine when plugged into that, but he never used the charger i supplied...should i ebay an actual charger that goes with it? the computer works fine except this power supply problem, first it would shut off after a day, then it would only last an hour, then 20 minutes, then sometimes only work when the battery was out and charger plugged in.  now it won't even do that...HELP lol, i don't wanna get rid of this computer!(i use a mac mini now, but want my laptop back)

Have you tried resetting the PMU?
The PMU (Power Management Unit) controls the charging function, so resetting it may help.

  • Why is there an odd delay when invoking the task switcher w/"Reduce motion" off?

Sometime after updating to iOS 7.1 (and 7.1.1), I noticed that when I double-clicked the home button in order to invoke the task switcher (and when I pressed on an app preview or icon in order to switch to it), that there was a 2-3 second delay before the task switcher actually appears (or I switch to the chosen app). What is doubly strange is that if I turn "reduce motion" to OFF in Settings > Accessibility, the delay goes away.
To make matters worse, a friend of mine with an "iPad 3" (i.e. the first iPad with a retina display) tells me that he does not see the delay. I've restored the iPad and set it up as a new iPad, yet the delay does not disappear.
Has anyone else observed this problem?

I see this problem as well.
There is a 2-second delay from when I hit the HOME button twice on my iPAD 2 before any of the open Apps appear.
There is also a lag when selecting some settings (ex. Wallpapers & Brightness ... about 2-3 seconds after I make the selection).
My Settings -> General -> Accessibility -> Reduce Motion is set to ON as well.

  • When the button (switch)(left side) turn off the sound back to on

    Hi,
I would like to know what to do with that problem mention on the subject, it only vibrate and no music/sound (when receiving a call).
    Thank you for your help
Also, My iPhone 4S is locked. Is it possible for Apple to unlocked factory my iPhone??? If yes, what would be the price???

It's either hardware or it's software. For the software side, I would suggest force-restarting the phone: press Home and Sleep until the Apple logo appears (ignore the red slider).
If that doesn't do the trick, reset the phone's settings by doing Settings / General / Reset / Reset All Settings. This does not erase your data, just the settings, which you may need to readjust.
If it is still misbehaving, time to get evil on that phone's azz! Back up all your stuff by plugging it to an iTunes-equipped computer, and do a sync. Set iTunes to store the backup locally. Confirm you have a valid backup in iTunes / Preferences / Devices. Then unplug the phone and wipe it clean by doing Settings / General / Reset / Erase All Content and Settings. Check if sound has returned on the virgin phone. If so, restore your stuff by plugging it back into iTunes, going to its Summary tab and doing a Restore.
If the phone remains mute thru all this, then it is hardware and a trip to the Store will be inevitable. You will get an exchange phone, most probably. Do the Restore on the new device to get your stuff back.

  • Why does mission control switch the order of my desktops? is this a bug?

Hey I'm new to these discussion forums, but I think I may have found a bug in Lion. If you look at the attached screen shot, you'll see desktop 3 is in the location that desktop 2 should be (second from the left). This has been happening randomly and I have to restart my computer to fix it. Logging out and back in doesn't fix the problem. When I press ctrl+2, or ctrl+3 it goes to desktop 2 and 3 respectively; however, when I'm in desktop 1, and press ctrl+>, it goes to desktop 3 (since it's right next to 1).
Also, I would really like to be able to move my applications between desktops (spaces). Previous OS X's gave the functionality with the Spaces Overview screen that let me see all of my spaces and move applications in between spaces. How can I move applications in between spaces without first going to that space, then going to mission control, then moving the item to that space (simple operations have been made more tedious due to mission control).

At this stage you cant move applications between desktops without accessing a desktop first. I know, silly byt its how it is in Lion.

  • Since I got my iPhone4 whenever I sent a message the sent message showed up in a box with a green background.  Yesterday the background switched from green to blue.  Does this signify anything?

Does the background color of the box containing a sent message have any significance?  As in, it was green and now it's blue.

To expand on the previous poster.
    For those blue iMessages.
    http://www.apple.com/ios/features.html#imessage
Messages sent when blue don't use up your SMS plan with your carrier, purely data through Apple.
Only works when messagings another iPhone user running iOS5 or later.

  • Does Toshiba 39L4333 support antenna power supply

I can't find anywhere information about that feature,
Can this TV supply active antenna?

I think such feature should be mentioned in user manual in case it would be supported.
    http://www.toshiba-om.net/LCD/PDF/English/L4333-323950-English.pdf
The user manual (page 7) provides details and information about the available sockets.
It looks like the LNB IN (Satellite antenna L436* series only) supports 18V / 400mA Max power.
Other antenna port does not provide power.

  • HT201263 iphone has completely dead, it wont connect to power supply or PC and won't re charge

My iphone 4 has completely died - it wont connect to the power supply, wont connect to PC nothing - any suggestions ??

Maybe the fact that it's dead has something to do with it...?
If a reset didn't work, make an appointment at the Genius bar and let them look at it.

  • Power on/off button does not work on Lumia 800

use the camera button to give it life and have to wait till the auto screen will take effect to shut it down
somebody else had or is having the same problem?
had the update removed and installed again, did not help.
    Is it broken?

I'm having exactly the same problem, no power button, have to use the camera to wake my phone.
My phone is still under garentee, so its no big deal, except that theres text messages on my phone that I need as evidence in a court case next month, and I cant take a chance on losing them so I've got to put up with a semi working phone for another month.
I think the whole phone is a poor show. Had it to replace my old and dying N95, and the lumia isnt a pacth on that. I cant back my phone up to my computer, blue tooth is poor, cant save or pring text messages, the list goes on. . .

  • I plug my iPod touch into my new macbook pro and the iPod icon shows up in iTunes, but does not show up anywhere in the finder or on my desktop...?

I need to transfer the music off of my ipod onto my mac but i cannot do that when my macbook will not recognize my ipod touch in the finder.

This is correct.  It will not show in finder.  It is not an external storage device.
The music sync is one way - computer to ipod.  The only exception is itunes purchases.  Open itunes connect ipod, do not sync, click File>Transfer Purchases

  • Is this power supply (A1185 10.8 V, 55Wh) compatible with  New White 60W 16.5V 3.65A Laptop AC Adapter Supply Magsafe Power Charger For Apple Macbook pro A1184 A1185

Is this power supply (A1185 10.8 V, 55Wh) compatible with  New White 60W 16.5V 3.65A Laptop AC Adapter Supply Magsafe Power Charger For Apple Macbook pro A1184 A1185

All of the A1181 polycarbonate MacBooks use the A1184 60W MagSafe power supply/charger and the A1185 battery. These are the Apple part numbers. Other manufacturers make equivalent replacement products, but the quality may not be acceptable.

  • I recently bought an external hard drive and attached it to a wireless modem router. The problem is that i can't access it from my macbook. I get a "connection failed" and "the server is available on your computer. Access the volumes and files locally".

Well I believe I described the problem above. I want only to add that the external hard drive is a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Drive 1TB and the wireless modem router is a Belkin N Plus (model F5D8635-4 v1). Also, in the finder window under "shared" I see a "belkinserver" and when I click it, it says "connection failed". If I click "connect as" I get the "the server "belkinserver" is available on your computer..." which I mentioned above. I tried to connect macbook via ethernet to the modem router and then when I typed "smb://belkinserver" it immediately prompted me for a username and a password and when I typed them finally I got to enter the contents of the hard drive! So what's the problem wirelessly?

If your external drive does not have an independent power supply, you may wish to consider a couple of lower-cost options before tossing the drive. Bus-powered drives have no external power source and must get all their power from the computer. They can exceed the computer's USB energy budget.
    Cheapest option:
1 Meter USB 2.0 A to 5 Pin Mini B Cable - Auxiliary USB "Y" Power Design for external hard drives.
This gets power from two of the computers USB porst sna can provide enough power to wake up an under-performaing bus-powered drive.
If you don't have enough ports to use this, try the next cheapest option:
Newer Technology 7 Port Hi-Speed USB 2.0 Hub with Power Adapter for Mac & PC
Such a hub has a an independent power supply to make up for wahat the comptuer fails to provide.

  • Is there a way to keep the screen from lighting up every time an email comes in, but still be able to see the email on the lock screen when you press the home button?

Is there a way to keep the screen from lighting up everytime an email comes in, but still be able to see the email on the lock screen when you press the home button?  This is killing my battery, but also is kinda the whole point of the notification center in my mind.

This is something I've been wondering. I am a bit like you, I like being able to have a glance at emails or Facebook updates without having to log in, and I think it would be great to be able to turn off the notification switching the screen on, especially for emails as I do get a lot, and Facebook, but I somehow doubt it is possible.
I am currently monitoring how much this eats up my battery charge. On a normal day, after an overnight charge, I would probably still have 30%-40% left when I leave work in the evening. Today, I was down to 48% by lunchtime, where I've usually got a good 60-70% left... Might have to turn email notifications off on lock screen until it's possible to have them appearing in the list without flashing me...
