Here are a couple helpful troubleshooting articles that I would recommend going through. They will walk you through troubleshooting this issue.
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

I dropped my iPhone4s in the snow the other day, consequently it got wet. I could see the condensation in the camea and flash and the screen turned black however the phone still worked as when my friend called me it vibrated but I couldn't answer it because of the screen. The flash also was constantly on so it seemed like everything was working inside the phone but just not the screen.
As soon as I got home I left the phone in rice for 2 days.
I got the phone out and plugged it in to charge. The apple logo showed up and the phone vibrated but en the apple logo disappeared and the screen turned black again. I unplugged the phone and plugged it in again and the same thing happened with the logo again but no vibration.
If I take the phone out of the plug it will just stay as a black screen.
Any suggestions as to what is ring with it or what I could do to fix this?You've most likely cooked it. Make an appointment at the genius bar. Take the phone and your credit card with you. An out of warranty replacement will cost you $199.

Check the USB port and the USB cable for any kind of lint, debris or bent pins.
Try another, working USB cable.

- Reseting the iPod and then try restoreing the iPod

HelpAre you saying you don't have a backup now? If not and the HD cannot be repaired then your only choice is expensive data recovery services. However I think when you find out the cost you will abandon it. Backup isn't something that should be done, it is something that must be done to protect your valuable data While I know this is not what you wanted to hear it's the truth. When you get your iMac repaired get an external HD and begin using Time Machine, it's built right into OS X. You can find out more about it in Mac Basics: Time Machine backs up your Mac - Apple Support. Next buy a second EHD and create another backup, when it comes to backup redundancy is extremely wise as backup can fail too. You can get a utility such as Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper and create a bootable clone. NEVER EVER use one EHD to create multiple backup schemes. This is a false economy and due to the relatively low prices of EHD's there is no excuse to not have redundant backup.

There is nothng special you can do without wifi being on.
Report it to the school and change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod. Apple will not help with anything. -
