HT2589 Says cannot connect to iTunes. What am I doing wrong?

I changed my apple id and it accepted my password and now when I try to sign in it says cannot connect to iTunes? What do I need to do?

There is a fix coming out soon for this. In the mean time go to settings and put the date forward one year. then try. once you have access then put the date back.

    Thanks for the question. When troubleshooting iTunes Store connection issues, the following articles provide the best information:
    First, try signing out of your account in Settings > iTunes & App Store. Once signed out, go ahead and sign back in.

    - Check to make sure you have an active internet connection. You can check the User Guide for your device for help with connecting to the internet.
    - Check to make sure other devices (portable computers, for example) are able to connect to the Wi-Fi network and access the internet.
    - Try resetting (turning off and then on again) your Wi-Fi router

  • I try to log into my itunes account on my laptop and it says cannot connect to itunes store, however it does on my iphone just fine

    i have made a seperate itunes account and it logs in as well. so i am not sure what is going on. i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes, i have turned off my computer and back on. i have ran it as a administrator. i am running windows 8 on a toshiba satellite.

    What troubleshooting techniques have you tried? Have you restarted the app? Have you restarted your computer?
    One idea is to Trash this file; Mac HD/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration/NetworkInterfaces.plist and restart.

    Remember, any purchased item from the itunes store is forever associated with the Apple ID used to buy it.  So when you get prompted for an ID/password and it doesn't accept it, then you are using the wrong ID.
    Go to Settings>iTunes and App Stores, be sure it's logged into the ID you have set on the iphone (since that one seems to be connecting with the right ID).  If you've done this, then you might wait a bit to see if the "cannot connect to .. store" message has to do with internet connections.

    actually i found out how to fix it
    1 sign out of apple account
    2 close down passbook app
    3 change year to 2013
    4 reopen passbook and sign in at the button with your apple ID
    5 change the time to auto update and it should work from now on.

    Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
    This works for some users. Not sure why.
    Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year.Then see if you can connect to the store.

    Any error messages?
    Do other devices now connect?
    Did the iOS device connect before?
    Try the following to rule out a software problem:

    least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

    This is a very interesting situation. I did try to update one of my apps within itunes as was suggested. That worked !!
    But then I noticed that I had 2 different logins that I must have created over the years. I almost forgot. I have a apple ID and an AOL ID. It seems that I purchased (actually they are all free) some apps with one ID and other apps with the other ID. I must have done this by accident.
    So when I log out of one of the IDs on my Touch and then log in with the other ID, I can update the apps.
    It seems that something changed on Apple's servers. It seems that until recently I was able to update free apps regardless of what ID I originally bought them with. Now it seems that's not the case. Apple must check this now.
    Now that I know what the issue is, I'll make sure I use one ID all the time.

    I can't download any apps today and every time i try an icon that says cannot connect to itunes will appear.  What's the problem? I have no problem with my internet connection though. Is itunes having their maintenance? Pls. Help

    If the issue is still happenign, I would close all apps http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137   and then restart your device http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
    Once back on, try again. The particular app may be stuck in a loop, try to downlaod a new free app.
