I really need help. I have been signing in several times to see if a 'Rest' button would appear, but it never has. I can't remember my security answers for the life of me. I would be extremly greatful if someone could help me.. Please someone..

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions; this can be done by phoning AppleCare and asking for the Account Security team, or clicking here and picking a method, or if your country isn't listed in either article, filling out and submitting this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

Why doesn't the 'rescue email' option show up when I try to change my security questions?

I have tried and failed over and over to change the answers to my security questions. Short of calling Support, because I hear they're always pretty busy, how am I supposed to change them? Obviously I can't use my alternate email because iTunes did not offer me that option when I first tried to change them.

Do you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) on your account ? If you do then try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.

That option will only appear if you have a rescue email address (which is not the same thing as an alternate email address) set up on your account. I have the same problem -- no email arrives when I try to reset my password.
I'm syncing my iPhone 5 to iTunes and keep getting messages about all the content that will not sync because "not authorized."
So I try to login to my Apple ID
- password is wrong
- follow the link to reset password
- chose "send email" but no email arrives (I even check 'junk' folder to be sure)
- go back to reset password and try "Answer security questions"
- says my DoB is wrong but I'm sure DoB is correct and there's no way forward
So what is the solution? Re-purchase all the content that won't sync?
