I dropped my ipod 2nd Generation, and now the screen turned white   there're many cracks in the screen. But im pretty sure the touchscreen still works. Is there any way my screen can work again? so that it isn't white? pls help

Please help

I'm in no way an iPod technician - but I have the same model as you.  If you have cracks in the screen, I'm pretty sure you need to get the screen replaced.  You can see what's involved by looking here:
http://www.rapidrepair.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=cp-ipodtouch2g
Unless you're already an electronic technician, you'd be better off having it repaired.
Having said that, you might compare the repair price with what a newer iPod Touch would cost you.  Here's just one sample page with pricing:
http://www.amazon.com/iPod-Computers/b?ie=UTF8&node=13660271
If you buy a used one, it might be just a little more than the repair cost.
(.....strange - I just came here to the forum to ask a questioin about my own iPod 2nd gen device, which I might be replacing with a newer one....)

I have turned it off and on,  held the off button down and  the select button down but it still comes up with that picture on the screen.    Have I broken it?

It means the device is in recovery mode.  You'll need to reconnect it to iTunes and restore it again.
You may need to connect it in recovery mode manually using the instructions in this Apple support document.

  • I have a iPod 2nd generation and it will not charge or connect to itunes

I have a iPod 2nd generation and it will not charge or connect to itunes, I have tried pressing the power button and home botton together and nothing happened.

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Create a NEW account using these instructions. Make sure you follow the instructions. Many do not and if you do not you will not get the None option. You must use an email address that you have not used with Apple before.
Creating an iTunes Store, App Store, iBookstore, and Mac App Store account without a credit card
Using those instructions you may also be able to select PayPal if that is allowed in your country.

If you have owned the device, as in purchased from Apple, less than a year then there will be no charge to repair, or most likely, replace the device. If you have had the device more than a year you will be charged an out of warranty cost for replacement ($219 I think) and that is much cheaper than a new device. If you have Applecare+ then you have an additional year of coverage and the replacement will be $49 or $79 depending on when you got the Applecare.

  • I have an ipod 2nd generation and it only works when i plug it in

okay so i habe this ipod 2nd generation i actually have two and they are both doing the same thing at first i plug them in and the only thing that comes up is the do not disconeect screen but after a while oh fiddling with it i got the screen to go away and i can se my music and videos and i can see that my battery is full now the moment i unplugg either ipod they automatically freeze, the backlight goes out then the screen eventually fades completely away. now while this is happening none of the bottons works and the ipods are not able to be turned on or play at all almost as if there dead. but they are not becuase as soon as i plug them back in everything shows up perfect the battery is fully charged the backlight  is on and the butttons work. help please

Sounds like your battery is not taking a charge, I know it shows full with you plug it in.  Try plugging it into a wall socket for a few hours and see if the iPod will work on battery power.

For a 1G and 2G it can take hours. Make sure it is connected to a charging source otherwise the battery can fully drain before it is done. If still problem

  • I dropped my iPod 5th generation and do not have insurance the screen is cracked, will Apple do a trade in or fix it?

I dropped my iPod 5G while on a run and the screen cracked and camera is fuzzy but it still works. To my knowledge it does not have a warranty on it. Is there anything Apple will do with it such as trade ins or repairs? Thank you.

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for $99 for a 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

  • I have an iPod 2nd Generation and it won't show up in iTunes

So I got a new laptop and I wante to transfer my music from my iPod onto it, so I plugged it in the new laptop.  I accidentally clicked that it was okay for all of my music to be erased, which is not what I wanted to do.
Anyway, so I figured that I could just hook my iPod up to my old computer (which is a dinosaur and barely functioning) and get the music back onto my iPod.  But it said to get all of it on there, I had to download the latest version of iTunes which I ha not done since probably 2008.
After I downloaded the newest version, i hooked my iPod into the comuter, and it began syncing.  It had been on step one of the syncing proess all day (approx. 8 hours) and it wasnt moving, so I unhooked it, thinking something was wrong, and that I would try again.
Ever sice then, Windows would recognize that my iPod was plugged in and ask to transfer my pictures to Microsoft Word, but iTunes did not register that my iPod was plugged in..
    HELP!!
    thanks

It already restored on my new compuer, so now it's completely wiped.
But when I plug it into my old computer it's only registering when I put it into recovery mode, and then it won't let me recover it because of a network probem ot being secure, so it is telling me to try again later.
It says "The iPod software update server could not be contacted."

  • My ipod got wet and now it keeps turning on and off.

i got my ipod wet and now it doesn't even have enough power to charge. it just keeps turning on and off

    - Yes. Restoring the iPod erases the iPod.
    - Try a reset to:
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Try placing the iPod in Recovery mode and then restoring
    - Next try DFU mode

    - If you can't turn it off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for  at least an hour try again.

  • I just bought a 5th gen Ipod from someone and now it wont turn on/boot up

I just bought a 5th gen Ipod from someone and restored it to factory setting I then uploaded my music to it and ejected it but may have unplugged it to soon. Now the ipod just keeps trying to turn on but doesn't and it won't respond to manual reset has anyone had this problem and what was done to fix it? thank you for your time I would really appriciate it.

The 5th gen iPod "classic" was the first "video" iPod.  It's video capability is more limited, and supported video resolution is lower, typically only 320x240.  Even if the video is standard def (SD), and not HD, it is probably at least 640x480.
Also, current iTunes Store video content (such as TV shows and movies) uses DRM (copy protection).  The 5th gen iPod was designed before the iTunes Store started selling video content (as it does now); I don't think it supports the DRM technology.
If you have video content that is not DRM'd and plays in iTunes (such as video podcasts), you may be able to use the convert command in iTunes.  Select the item on a list in iTunes.  From the iTunes menu bar
File -> Create New Version -> Create iPod or iPhone Version
That version may play on your iPod, so iTunes will sync it.

  • I dropped my ipod in water and now the screen wont respond to my touch, would resetting it make it work again?

I can still see everything and it's charging but I read somewhere that if I reset it that it would work again but I'm not sure if that is true and I don't know how to reset it

That happened to my mom's phone. but she dropped it in tea:( If I were you, the best bet would be to put it in a bowl of rice, so that it is covered, and leave it there for a few days. The rice will hopefully soak up all of the water that's in your iPod. Hope this helps!

  • Hi friends: I Install Itunes ver 11.1.4 the lastest version of itunes and I have a Ipod 2nd generation and I can't sincronize it with itunes. I perform a test and the program can't connect with the ipod. What happens?? Can I restore old version of itunes?

Can I restore a previous version of itunes??

    Try

    I would start with
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
Before you reinstall the Apple software, also remove iCloud vi Control Panel Remove programs. The reinstall the Apple programs
New cable and different USB port?
Runs this and see if the results help with determine the cause
