I'm desperately waiting for FOLDER SHARING!
By the way, how can i reply to discussions? Tried to reply to a similar question, but didn't find a button to reply.
There should be a blue Reply link below the forum post.
And yes I understand your desperate wait for folder sharing. I am waiting too.

We are desperately waiting for a new firmware for ...
hello nokia,
we are using one of your most popular mobile the n73- music edition ( product code for my mobile 0564012)
as it is seen over the internet that nokia is rolling out firmware updates for their s60v3 devices like some of the e-series.., i just want to know if nokia will release a firmware for our mobile..??
if not.., its our humble request to release one.., which can provide better performance and stability..
most common complaint is regarding its speed..
for eg while entering to menu the mobile becomes sluggish.. even if the phone memory is empty n no memory card is ther...
i've nokia n8, 5230, e63 at present in my family n i'm a big fan of nokia n iu'll be glad to see your reply soon..., n ofcourse the new firmware.... pplllllssssss do the needful..,
ignore mistakes if any..The N73 was long since discontinued. There will be no further firmware updates for that model.
If you are unhappy about that you can complain to nokia using the "contact us" link near the top or bottom of this page. -
If you are desperately waiting for a new update... Read this!
WOW! Just saw this post. This is really pushing me towards Roku or Andoid mini-PC... I did their survey and commented in there that I do realize technology is always changing/improving/etc... But the existing WD TV lives that I have could very easily be fixed with a proper firmware update. One that fixes the rather serious memory leak, particularly with Netflix. And I know it wouldn't be that hard to get a proper programmer to resolve how slow the device is to refresh it's library from an NAS. Just need someone to take the time. Really hope WD is reading this, as they are going to end up putting a really bad name behind a device that has some amazing potential! It just needs to be finished, rather that left in this "beta" stage it's in now.
I believe it was more to do with a licensing thing so they took out Netflix. We know the WD TV (2014) got a FW update 1.01.30 at about the same time that WD TV Live Streaming had it's last release 2.02.32 - and it was mainly about introducing pretty much the same feature set to both (in BOLD and italics): WD TV FW v1.01.30 Aug 2014:Resolved Issues:• Supports BBC iPlayer, BBC News and BBC Sport (UK only) • Supports search feature at the Grid UI home screen from the WD IR remote • Updated WD TV End-User License Agreement (EULA) • Updated TMDB API image URL process• Resolved reboot issue when manually getting content information• Resolved issue with content playback stopping after long duration of play• Resolved audio out of sync and intermittent video freezes with .mp4 formats with AAC audio vsWD TV FW v2.02.32 Aug 2014:Resolved Issues:• Supports Miracast. Yesterday we were forced to perform a non-authoritative sync of the SYSVOL folder as replication had stopped because one of the DCs had been disconnected from it's replication partner for more than 60 days (caused by a unexpected shutdown and we did not
pick up on the fact replication had stopped until now).
I performed the non-authoritative sync of the SYSVOL folder and now the folder is in state 2
ReplicatedFolderName ReplicationGroupName State
SYSVOL Share Domain System Volume 2
and has been for more than 12 hours. The DFS replication health report, reports "This member is waiting for initial replication for replicated folder SYSVOL Share".
How long should it take and is there anyway to force it so that replication can resume?I'm fairly sure it's not tombstoned. Here is the DCDIAG output:

During the past 4.23 hours there have been 95 connections to this Domain Controller from client machines whose IP addresses don't map to any of the existing sites in the enterprise. Those clients, therefore, have undefined
sites and may connect to any Domain Controller including those that are in far distant locations from the clients. A client's site is determined by the mapping of its subnet to one of the existing sites. To move the above clients to one of the sites, please
consider creating subnet object(s) covering the above IP addresses with mapping to one of the existing sites. The names and IP addresses of the clients in question have been logged on this computer in the following log file '%SystemRoot%\debug\netlogon.log'
and, potentially, in the log file '%SystemRoot%\debug\netlogon.bak' created if the former log becomes full. The log(s) may contain additional unrelated debugging information. To filter out the needed information, please search for lines which contain text
'NO_CLIENT_SITE:'. The first word after this string is the client name and the second word is the client IP address. The maximum size of the log(s) is controlled by the following registry DWORD value 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Netlogon\Parameters\LogFileMaxSize';
the default is 20000000 bytes. The current maximum size is 20000000 bytes. To set a different maximum size, create the above registry value and set the desired maximum size in bytes.

Outlook 2011: Adding some messages to "Waiting for reply" folder
My use case is that I want to track for responses on some messages I write. My methodology now is to wait for the message to be sent the move it from the sent folder to the "Waiting for reply" folder which I go over periodically.
I'm looking for a way to automate this. Best would be if I press a key which makes Outlook both send the message and put it in the Waiting folder. E.g., by using an applescript.
Alternatively, I thought that pressing a key will add me as BCC, and also add a "*WF*" string at the bottom of the message. Again, with applescript. Then when I send the message it will also arrive at my Inbox where I'll have a rule to move messages to "Waiting" if they contain "*WF*"Hi Ryan,
I suggest double check the permission configuration.
And also check whether the reply button enabled.

Beehive enhancement for tomorrow: re-add the OBEO sub folder sharing option
OK, I inadvertently posted a comment meant for an enhancement to be posted tomorrow, so here we go with tomorrows enhancement of the day:
Talking once more about delegation... There's quite a big fly in the ointment we need to talk about:
While delegation granting dialogues in OBEO and bcentral take care of permissions for default folders like inbox, sent items, drafts etc. and pseudo folders like calendar or contacts, it does not so for non-default folders.
We have the case of a superior that has a widely ramified folder structure and granted his secretary access to parts of it. When the secretary changed he changed delegation, and this did not change the non-default acls.
So far nothing unspectacular. The issue is, that there is no option in OBEO to define permissions tree-wise (nor is there in beectl), so the superior had to walk the whole directory hierarchy to adapt the permissions, each folder requiring multiple clicks.
There was a permissions dialogue for that in OBEO 1.5, but has been dropped.
There is an enhancement request I'd ask you to second through MOS:
10065126: READD THE SUB FOLDER SHARING OPTION TO OBEO
This ER had the status approved for future release, but product management changed its plans and put it to "Suggestion Rejected".
a related ER is the following:
12557969: OBEO PERMISSIONS DIALOGUE SHOULD HAVE A TREE OPTION
"The Beehive platform is designed from the ground up to be easy to manage." (cited from "Oracle Beehive: A Flexible Collaboration Platform for the Enterprise") - let's hope product management will give us tree perms management, at least in OBEO.
Thanks, TomAs currently product management does not seem to be considering
readding the desired dialogue (nor a tree switch for beectl perms
related commands) lets look at our workaround.
Lets look at it in an example: user user_a has set up a delegation to
user_b, allowing access to his inbox.
If you have set this up (using OBEO or BCentral as alternatives) a new
Principal Record has emanated, that you can list with "beectl
list_users":
bhowner@bhhost:~> beectl list_users email addr@mydomain show more
Display Record: 1
===========================================
User Identifier: user=user_a
Family Name: user_a
Principal Record: 6
===============
Principal Identifier: pcpd=145F:5618:user:9B37CFDA0D624736B413FEF81573597400000000000E -> 145F:5618:user:D8D547BB10AD4C079CE3A2604996535B000000000000,user=user_a
Principal Name: 145F:5618:user:9B37CFDA0D624736B413FEF81573597400000000000E -> 145F:5618:user:D8D547BB10AD4C079CE3A2604996535B000000000000
Delegated Principal: Yes
DELEGATOR: user=user_a
DELEGATED TO: user=user_b
Lock status: UNKNOWN.
bhowner@bhhost:~>
An ACL to the inbox has been generated:
bhowner@bhhost:~> beectl list_local_acl --entity "fldr=Inbox,wksp=user_a's Personal Workspace,enpr=myenpr"
------------------------------------------------------------------+-------------
accessor | access_types
------------------------------------------------------------------+-------------
------------------------------------------------------------------+-------------
pcpd=145F:5618:user:9B37CFDA0D624736B413FEF81573597400000000000E | +RWDO
-> 145F:5618:user:D8D547BB10AD4C079CE3A2604996535B000000000000,us |
er=user_a |
------------------------------------------------------------------+-------------
Listed LocalACL for entity 'fldr=INBOX,wksp=user_a's Personal Workspace,enpr=myenpr'
bhowner@bhhost:~>
Now we need to generated similar ACLs for all subfolders of
exampl-fldr, which, being a non-default folder, did not receive any
ACL:
So let's connect to BEE_DATA on the BEEDB, preferrable through SQLDeveloper, and run
SELECT 'beectl add_local_ace --entity "'
||trim(TO_CHAR(c.enterprise_id,'0XXX'))
||':'
||trim(TO_CHAR(c.site_id,'0XXX'))
||':'
||c.container_type
||':'
||c.eid
||'" --accessor "pcpd=145F:5618:user:9B37CFDA0D624736B413FEF81573597400000000000E -> 145F:5618:user:D55B885774B6457AA0489F596D7DF873000000000000,user=user_a" --access_types "+RWDO"'
-- , f.name,
-- , c.path
FROM bee_data.ws_real_folders f,
bee_data.ocs_containers c
WHERE f.eid=c.eid
AND c.path LIKE '/dla/user_a''s Personal Workspace/exampl-fldr%'
AND c.container_type='afrh'
This will generate the beectl commands necessary to work around the
missing switch. You need to run those commands afterwards.
Of course this is not supported, but your only alternative is
right-clicking all of the subfolders of exampl-fldr and grant the new
user access manually.
I would be happy if Oracle would enhance this are of user and rights
management of beehive.
Regards, Tom

My computer is running very slow ever since I switched to Yosemite. I get the multicolored wheel just opening my browser at times and waiting for a page to open, or an application. Any ideas other than rebooting my computer to get the problem to alleviate for a few days?

How do I create an Itunes playlist on an ipad 2 for a shared library on my home network
Hi, please help? How do I create a playlist on tunes on my i pad2 with a shared i tunes library on my home network?
no need to create a secondary library - too troublesome, IMHO. you can spread your library over as many drives you can connect to your Mac (wired or wirelessly):
iTunes > preferences > advanced.
point iTunes media folder location to the external
on the same tab, ensure the copy files ... when adding option is checkmarked
okay out of preferences
highlight the content to be moved in iTunes and right-click
select consolidate files from the pop-up menu
wait for the process to finish
when done, you may delete the original files from your boot drive.
alternatively, you could move the whole shabang to the external HD:
copy the entire iTunes folder (not just the iTunes music or media folder) from <MacintoshHD>/users/<yourname>/music to the external, launch iTunes while holding the option(⌥) key, click on choose library when prompted, and select the iTunes folder you copied to the external.
when done, be sure to point iTunes media folder location to the external so that new additions to your library will be put there. also, you need to make sure the external is mounted on your desktop before you fire up iTunes. -
What is the best hardware for Home Sharing?
What is the best client machine for Home Sharing on my stereo? aka What do I want for Christmas.
Well the CD player is starting to breakdown; that makes two this century. Might be time to replace that whole 5 disk CD player thing and get something to use as a player for music in the living room stereo. Maybe a second unit in the office as well.
How to decide what to buy? Am I selecting the right media server option? I am pretty sure I have a server option but how should I set this all up.
Ethernet. The stereo in the living room doesn't have ethernet cable run to it so the Time Capsule could stream over airport Home Sharing from my iMac 2.4GHz or MacMini server to say my lightly used iPad 32gig. This must slow the network down so I could run ethernet cable if I had to, but the iPad doesn't take ethernet. Performance of the network is important.
Power on feature. Ideally the hardware should emulate the existing service. I go to the stereo, turn the power on and it starts playing, usually ramdom songs (shuffle) of a preselected playlist (5 cds).
Remote control. We don't really use this, although changing playlists with my iPhone makes sense. I could hide all the gear in an out of the way closet. Remote control would be a nice feature, and remote control from all devices in the network and over one or two devices. Can I power up/down the stereo, adjust the volume down or pause remotely? This is my most used functionality.
Server or Client. I could put something with the stereo and load the music on it. Share from it instead of share to it. My music library is currently at 20 gig, so a 32 gig device would work. A old PowerBook as well with any respectable hard drive. Or do I use the TimeCapsule or my low use MacMini server as a media server? What do I do if I want a second player in the Office?
Sound quality. Yeah, it has to be there, audiophile wise.
Audio Sources.
Play a single CD. This is where is gets a little complicated for gear. I do like the option of listening to a cd prior to burning it to iTunes. This starts to require a CD player connected to a iOS device, which is not yet availanble, so drives the gear selection into an older PowerBook. or maybe just add a single disk CD player to a iOS device and let the amplifier select the source.
FM. It would be nice if the device would get FM so I could toss the tuner as well.
Display. My existing CD player permits display of the disk and track, which kinda *****. I would like to know the artist, song and album, so remote control comes back into play here.
Cost. A replacement 5 disk CD player costs about $30 at the local thrift store. New around $200 - $300. I'm getting refurbished iPod 8gb touchs gen4 for $100. I see ebay has iPad 16 gig for around $200. Set the budget around $250. Maybe more christmas is coming : )/
Brand. Been thinking Apple as iTunes sharing is easy, but would consider another brand if the price and quality supported the idea.
Shortlist. Old PowerBook, an iOS device as client players or a stand alone player with out sharing to it but from it. Haven't looked close to see if they meet the functionality of an old CD player.
Workflow. How can we add CD music to the server from any client on the network? How do I change playlists? From the remote control? Can I operate the player from the stereo?
On Hand Gear. My network is running a pair of iMac 24's, iPad gen2, iPhone 3GS 32Gb, iPod gen4 8 Gb, Time Capsule (500Gb), MacMini Server (w/2 500 Gb drives in a RAID 1 config) with SLS. I have several PowerBooks: 17" G4, 14" G3; I could sell or use, USB external CD rw.
Any recommendations would be appreciated, I have some time before the CD player tanks and Christmas list sent to Santa.

CanadaWhat does itunes do on a G4?
Will itunes work under 10.4 with iTune 9 on a G3?
So back to the G4 1.67 GHz running 10.5.8 with iTunes 10. Adding Home Sharing to this computer required deauthorising one of the other 5 authorised computers. Also I noticed I must be logged into a user in order for Home Sharing to see the other library... Or atleast that user has to have iTunes running. I logged into my test user account and opened iTunes account as user Tech, found the library on the TC (why doesn't iTunes remember this ?, maybe it has to bee conected to the TC) , shabam the library shows up on the PowerBook G4. Started playing the Tragically Hip , logged out and expected the library to stop sharing but no, I was still able to play from the logged out accout, as long as iTunes was running. Sure enough as soon as I logged back in to that user account and quit iTunes running fron the TC library, the sharing stop. No warning of a connected user though!
So what about Home Sharing on a Pismo? I fired up the old guy PowerBook bronze keyboard G3 400 MHz, 512 mb ram, running 10.4.11 and iTunes what? iTunes 4, oh yeah, from the iLife 05 install. I need to update to iTunes 9 but before that I should try to see if it can play from the TC. Well no it can't . I can see the TC and load the library but no songs show up in iTunes 4. Must be incompatible file format. I can't see any shared libraries either.
So I download iTunes 9.2.1 from Apple. Thanks for supporting older machines. hmmm. installer says iTunes 9.2.1 requires a G4, yet it lets me install into the G3... let's wait for the install to complete and see what is up wit dat... well it installed... but will it run? no, iTunes installs, but it won't run on a G3, it wants a G4 or better.
So the story goes that for Home Sharing we stop at G4, G3 not invited to the party. Good thing the Pismo just sold on eBay.
The discussion on Home Entertainment Network over at https://discussions.apple.com/message/15843219#15843219 brings up another thing to test.
Can I stream the same music to multiple locations? Can I play the same music in the office and the living room? How does Apple handle this?
My other thought here is, since the TC has a back up of my music why can't I just play that version. Why do I need to back up my music? Guess I could not back up the Music folder in TC but store the music in the TC. -
DNS is waiting for AD to signal the initial replication has completed
Hello,
First off, thank you for your help in advanced. Any help you can offer would be appreciated, and let me know if there's more information you need
me to provide, or utilities to run.
I have just joined a Server 2012 R2 DC to my Server 2008 R2 domain. Topology is it only had one DC previously, the 2008 R2, running AD/DNS/DHCP.
I ran the forest prep & domain prep on the 2008 R2 domain controller, then ran a dcpromo on the 2012 R2. From there, I migrated the FSMO roles over to the 2012 R2 server using ntdsutil.exe. The ultimate goal is to retire the 2008 R2 DC and
bring on line a 2nd 2012 R2 DC for this domain.
My Issues
Windows 7 client PC's do not always resolve/pass traffic to the Server 2012 R2 server, sometimes I need to ping
the server by IP before it will resolve, other times if I just repeatedly double click on the shared folder mapped to the Server 2012 R2 DC it will work eventually. This is intermittent/random,
and not always repeatable with any specific procedures. Sometimes the user will be working, then all of the sudden they can't resolve DNS to the internet, nor internally.
I am getting the following errors in the event log on my 2012 R2 DC
Log Name: DNS Server

Description:
The DNS server is waiting for Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS) to signal that the initial synchronization of the directory has been completed. The DNS server service cannot start
until the initial synchronization is complete because critical DNS data might not yet be replicated onto this domain controller. If events in the AD DS event log indicate that there
is a problem with DNS name resolution, consider adding the IP address of another DNS server for this domain to the DNS server list in the Internet Protocol properties of this computer. This event will
be logged every two minutes until AD DS has signaled that the initial synchronization has successfully completed.

Description:
This server is the owner of the following FSMO role, but does not consider it valid. For the partition which contains the FSMO, this server has
not replicated successfully with any of its partners since this server has been restarted. Replication errors are preventing validation of this role.
Operations which require contacting a FSMO operation master will fail until this condition is corrected.
FSMO Role: CN=Partitions,CN=Configuration,DC=carman,DC=local
User Action:
1. Initial synchronization is the first early replications done by a system as it is starting. A failure to initially synchronize may explain why a FSMO role cannot be validated. This process is explained in KB article 305476.
2. This server has one or more replication partners, and replication is failing for all of these partners. Use the command repadmin /showrepl to display the replication errors. Correct the error in question. For example there maybe problems with IP connectivity,
DNS name resolution, or security authentication that are preventing successful replication.
3. In the rare event that all replication partners are expected to be offline (for example, because of maintenance or disaster recovery), you can force the role to be validated. This can be done by using NTDSUTIL.EXE to seize the role to the same server. This
may be done using the steps provided in KB articles 255504 and 324801 on.
The following operations may be impacted:
Schema: You will no longer be able to modify the schema for this forest.
Domain Naming: You will no longer be able to add or remove domains from this forest.
PDC: You will no longer be able to perform primary domain controller operations, such as Group Policy updates and password resets for non-Active Directory Domain Services accounts.
RID: You will not be able to allocation new security identifiers for new user accounts, computer accounts or security groups.
Infrastructure: Cross-domain name references, such as universal group memberships, will not be updated properly if their target object is moved or renamed.

File and folder sharing and permissions.
Many times when we copy files or folders to another mac computer, their permissions change, and many times the new user can not open it, until the file or folder permissions are changed. It start happen with MacOX 10.5, and still is happening with 10.7, with 10.5 we were waiting for the patch, but it never arrived, then I think is not a mistake for apple software developers??. But how can I solve this issue? the people need to interchage files and folders by USB, or network, and need to work as soon as possible with that materials and not loose time changing permissions. Someone knows what can I do to solve it?
Did you log out of one account and into the other or just used Fast user switching?
Is the permissions set to anyone?
When you move data to teh Shared folder is it copied or just moved?
If copied then it's not a folder both can access, just a way station like a USB thumb drive that things are coped too and off of likely.
You can run this #5 on each user account to reset the user permissions once they are taken back out of the Shared folder

[solved] systemd times out waiting for dev-null.device on encrypted fs
I have a relatively new install of Arch on my laptop. The relevant sections of the drive setup are a luks encrypted root device (with associated unencrypted /boot), and a large ntfs device encrypted with truecrypt. That contains my home directory, which is shared with the Windows 8 dual-boot on the machine.
I have all this mounted on boot, so my typical usage is to enter my password for the encrypted root, followed by the password for the truecrypt-encrypted data drive, then normal login.
This has been working fine for a couple of weeks. This afternoon I rebooted my machine from Windows to Linux, at which point the secondary encrypted drive failed to mount. The root device mounts fine.
On further examination, in the form of journalctl -xb, I'm getting the following errors after mounting the encrypted root device:
Feb 12 21:29:54 kafka systemd[1]: Job dev-null.device/start timed out.
Feb 12 21:29:54 kafka systemd[1]: Timed out waiting for device dev-null.device.
-- Subject: Unit dev-null.device has failed
-- Defined-By: systemd
-- Support: http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/li … temd-devel
-- Documentation: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Softwar … e9d022f03d
-- Unit dev-null.device has failed.
-- The result is timeout.
Feb 12 21:29:54 kafka systemd[1]: Dependency failed for Cryptography Setup for cryptdata.
-- Subject: Unit [email protected] has failed
-- Defined-By: systemd
-- Support: http://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/li … temd-devel
-- Documentation: http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Softwar … e9d022f03d
-- Unit [email protected] has failed.
As my root home directory is on the root filesystem, I can still log in as root. If I try to mount or unmount the truecrypt device (located at /data) the command hangs. After removing "auto,x-systemd.automount" from that device from /etc/fstab and rebooting, I have a significant delay at boot, but I can then mount the /data device as normal.
I can't find anything related to this either here or on Google. Any ideas?

Thanks for the warning. Sadly, as there are applications I need for work that only run in Windows, I need to dual boot this machine with Windows 8.1. This is the best option I can find for sharing my home directory, which is also a necessity due to the amount of data I have to share between the systems. I would much rather trust to ntfs-3g-ar and its UserMapping (and all the fiddling with ACLs that I had to do) than to the Windows ext2 drivers I can find. They all seem to be several years out of date. Linux is much better at talking NTFS than Windows is at talking EXT. (To be honest, I'm actually quite impressed with Windows 8 since the upgrade to 8.1. As a long term Arch user and a fan of tiling window managers it's interesting to see Windows moving in the right direction. )
With 'permissions' in the /etc/fstab and the .NTFS-3G/UserMapping file in place it works almost seamlessly. (It took a lot of tinkering with ACLs in Windows and Linux, but it's working very well now. One tip that I'll write here in case it's of use is that you want the last line of the UserMapping file to be a 'generic' mapping. When I didn't have that there were very strange things going on.)
The only two minor problems I have now are:
1) A few applications don't like FUSE filesystems. Steam worked for a while and then broke; reinstalling it failed at every stage. When I checked, it seems that FUSE is a known problem for Steam. (I don't think it's restricted to NTFS.) My response to that was to create /home/.local/$HOME on my root (ext4) filesystem and symlink out to it for troublesome applications.
2) There are a few characters for filenames that Windows doesn't like, making those files inaccessible in Windows. (Colons are the major culprit.) They're usually quite easily renamed. (The exception being my .maildir folder, which I have had to duplicate natively in cygwin.)
Neither of these are anything more than minor niggles. I appreciate the warning, though.
Having said that, if you have an alternative that lets me share a truecrypt-encrypted drive between Linux and Windows that is better than the NTFS-3G approach, I'd love to hear it for future reference. -
Mini - "Waiting for Disc Drive"
Attempting to copy some pictures from an SD card in a mac mini to a CD in the optical drive on an iMac.
Mac Mini says its waiting for the optical drive with a message ""Waiting for Disc Drive". It won't progess beyond this message.
I've tried to connect with a CD in the drive and no CD in the drive.
The iMac recognizes that the blank CD is loading.
Both computers can see each other across the network.
I have CD DVD drive sharing enabled on the iMac.
Any suggestions as to how I get the mac mini to see the drive/CD on the iMac?
Thanks.Hi Richard,
I think the Problem might be you're trying to Copy to a CD instead of Burning them to a CD?
On the iMac you need a Burn Folder 1st to copy to...

Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Best regards,

Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.
From the menu bar, select
Keychain Access ▹ Preferences ▹ First Aid
If the box marked Keep login keychain unlocked is not checked, check it.
Select
Keychain Access ▹ Keychain First Aid
from the menu bar and repair the keychain. Quit Keychain Access. -
Does simple file and folder sharing on an iMac work with OSX Server?
Hi There
I wonder if I should install OSX Server on an iMac wher several users work on the same files and folders.
My question - before I do something I might regret:
Does simple file and folder sharing on an iMac within several users really work with the help of OSX Server?
All I want to be able to do:
Admin creates a new folder1 and gives it read- and write access for user1 and user2.
User1 creates a subfolder1 in folder1, and a document1 in subfolder1.
User2 edits document1. Later Admin edits document1.
All these simple editing of files and folders (and subfolders) within a main folder should be possible. This is not possible now.
Is everything clear? I'm not a network specialist or something, I just want to give some co-workers access to some data on my computer without problems.So what you need are recursive permissions.
I suggest you create a group and add user1 and user2 to that group. You can name that group whatever you want, but for now i will call it FSUsers
Execute this in terminal. Replace FSUsers with your new group
sudo chmod -R +a "FSUsers allow list,add_file,search,add_subdirectory,delete_child,readattr,writeattr,readextat tr,writeextattr,readsecurity,file_inherit,directory_inherit" /Users/Shared/*
Replace /Users/Shared with the location of your shared folder. Make sure you keep the /* at the end (this allows all subfolders and files to get the same permissions.
If you need to add people to the share just add them to the FSUsers group, the FSUsers group should should also be allowed in the sharing preferences.
