I need help re-installing itunes. I get the error message: Install failed run preupgrade for Apple Mobile Device Support. Any solutions?
I've been trying to upgrade to/install Itunes 10. When trying to do so, I get the error message: Install failed run preupgrade for Apple Mobile Device Support.
Per what I saw as a response to someone else who had a similar issue, I thought a fix might be to uninstall my existing Itunes, then try to re-install the Itunes 10. I tried that. However, I still get the same error message. Now, I have no Itunes.
I tried to email Apple, and they have not replied.
Anyone offer any solutions?
me too did you get any help?

I'm getting an error message on Windows 8. Missing apple application support. Itunes will not install. Please help!!, I'm getting an error message on Windows 8. Missing apple application support. Itunes will not install. Please help!!
You probably need to either uninstall and reinstall itunes or to download the apple application support by itself
you can download the itunes http://www.apple.com/itunes/ here
then to do a complete uninstall / reinstall follow these instructions http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923
you could also use 7zip to extract the individual installer for apple application support from the itunes setup file http://www.7-zip.org -

Error writing to file: C:\Program\Files\iTunes.Resources\de.Iproj\SortPrefixes.plist. Verify that you have access to that directory.Error writing to file: C:\Program\Files\iTunes.Resources\de.Iproj\SortPrefixes.plist. Verify that you have access to that directory.
That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
Vista instructions in the following document: Check your hard disk for errors
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards? -

When trying to install iTunes, I get the error 7 (windows error 126)
When trying to install iTunes, I get the error 7 (windows error 126)
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
