IIS Crash because of a Application Popup w3wp.exe

We have a report system that runs on a Win2003 Server with Crystal Reports for .NET Framewokr 4.0. We installed the Crystal Runtime 13.0.
Now, every 5 hours the IIS server crash. At the time of the crash we have the following Event in the Event Viewer:
Event Type: Information
Event Source: Application Popup
Event Category: None
Event ID: 26
Description:
Application popup: w3wp.exe - Unable To Locate component: This application has failed to start because SmAgentAPI.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this Problem.
After a restart of the IIS Service, everthing works fine for another about 5 hours.
Does anyone have a clue for me?

Hello,
What is happening is IIS is running out of memory and the error is popping up in one of our dll's. I don't believe it is the actual cause, CR just can't load any more dll's and that's the one when the system resources run out.
Make sure you are closing and disposing of you report objects when they are done with and using/adding GC.Collect to tell Windows to free up it's freed memory also helps.
To get more info you may need to add logging to your app as well as adding try/catch around every functions and write the catch to a log file to get more info and to help follow the flow.
Thank you
Don

    Hello Roland_Zeki,
Can you check System in the Windows Log of Event Viewer? Maybe you have some logon failure for one of the services, like in this blog:

Yes I have verify this point I suspected to be the origine of the problem. But no, the accounts have fixed password and are not locked. I test this point with a valide login on the server, and I reenter the login password for each app pool.

  • Application Popup when printing Report with printtoprinter

    Hi there,
we have an ASP Application running on IIS for one of our customers. It was developed under
Visual Studio 2008 ASP.NET and we use the integrated Crystal Viewer Control.
The Application is sending Reports via PrintToPrinter directly to a local Printer. This all works
fine for a while. But after a while it starts generating application Popups on the webserver. The w3wp.exe
is generating Errors that sounds like the following :
    Application Popup: {C5371A04-4027-44C2-A0D0-1D38F00C4E84}: w3wp.exe -
Component missing: The application could not be started, because cxlib7-2-1.dll could not be found.
    Reinstallation mighty fix this problem.
Funny thing is, that this dll exists on the server. All these errors cause, that our customer
is not able to work, as long as this popus stays on the Webserver. This Application is
a Stockmanagment Tool and very important for our customer, so you might guess, that
he is not very pleased with this situation.
Is there any known issue with this DLL? I asked Business Objects a year ago and they had the idea,
that it might by a version conflict. We solved this problem, but now we have this error again.
    Any ideas?
For more information just ask me!
    Greetings

Strange, but then we're working with computers... Seriously, all I have are ideas to try:
Place a copy of the cxlib7-2-1.dll into the app directory or win\system32. The dll should be in c:\program files\common files\business objects\2.7\bin by default. Also, it should have a version of 10.2.0.949 or a bit higher.
I believe you are using CR 10.5 (CR assemblies should have a version of 10.5.3700). See if using the latest runtime will help. SP 1 has been released for CR 10.5. The SP is here:
    https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100009351512008E/crbasic2008sp1.exe
The SP 1 redistributable is here:

    Hi and welcome.....
Safari isn't crashing due to Flash, it's the Gears internet input managers and plugins and possibly the Google camera adapter components. Flash is up to date.
Open a Finder window. Select MacintoshHD in the Sidebar on the left. Open the Library folder th en the InputManagres folder.
Move these files to the Desktop. GearsEnabler/GearsEnabler.bundle/Contents/MacOS/GearsEnabler
Now in the same Finder window from the same Library folder open the Internet Plug-Ins folder. Move these files to the Desktop.
    Gears.plugin/Contents/MacOS/libgears.dylib
    Gears.plugin/Contents/Resources/Gears.bundle/Contents/MacOS/libgears.dylib
Launch Safari. If it crashes again, it's probably the Google Camera Adapter components. In that Finder window, open the Library folder then the QuickTime folder. Move these files to the Desktop.
*Google Camera Adapter 0.component/Contents/MacOS/Google Camera Adapter*
*Google Camera Adapter 1.component/Contents/MacOS/Google Camera Adapter 1*
    Relaunch Safari.

I recently uploaded 10.8, but I have a number of VALUABLE old files which I can no longer read because "power PC applications are no longer supported.  How can I retrieve them"?

Here is a post I assembled for another with a similar problem:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Workarounds:
    1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
    2.  If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
    3. Upgrade to an Intel compatible versions of your software, or find alternatives that will open your data files;
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:
Full Snow Leopard installation instructions here:
    http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
NOTE: STEP ONE of the instructions must currently be completed on a Snow Leopard or Lion Mac and the resulting modified Snow Leopard.cdr install file can then be moved over to your Mountain Lion Mac for completion of the remaining steps.
NOTE 2:  Computer games with complex, 3D or fast motion graphics make not work well or at all in virtualization.

  • I upgraded my Mac from OSX 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard and then to Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  I did have Microsoft Office for Mac 2004 in my applications and now get a message "can't open Office because Power PC applications are no longer supported."

I just upgraded my MAC from OSX 10.5.8 to Snow Leopard and then to Mountain Lion 10.8.2.  When I try to access my Microsoft Office for MAC (2004 edition) files I am getting a message "can't open Office because Power PC applications are no longer supported.  How can I access all of my save Word documents?  I just want to be able to retrieve all of my documents that were in Microsoft Office for Mac (2004).  If I purchase the newest version of MS office for Mac from Apple will I be able to retrieve my old documents?

Use any number of free alternatives to your nearly decade old version of MS Office.
    Consider
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
    NeoOffice (free)
    OpenOffice (free)
In addition to the above I also recommend Apple's Pages ($19.99). I use OpenOffice and Pages and have been completely Microsoft - free for years. Life is better without Microsoft.

?  Why does my Photoshop PS2 open on my Mac Book Pro OS 10.6.8 Intel Core 2 Processor but not on my just purchased Mac Book Pro OS 10.7.3? On my new machine I get a message saying "You can't open Photoshop CS2 because Power PC applications are no longer supported". I don't have a Power PC on either machine and this App does run on the older machine with an Intel processor. benrusy

This is not new.  The fact that Mac OS no longer supports PowerPC applications starting with OS X Lion has been known for over a year now.  You'll need to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop

  • Could not complete the export command because of an application error

Every once in awhile I get the error, "Could not complete the export command because of an application error" when using the Save for Web option. It's really confusing because the error is not consistent. I don't get it all the time. In fact, 99% of the time I can save with no problems. When I quit Photoshop and reopen my files they seem to save just fine. Does anyone know why this happens, and how to prevent it from happening in the future?
    Here are my specs:
    Macintosh: iMac
    OS: 10.6.8
    Photoshop: CS3 (v10.0.1)
    Any help is greatly appreciated!

No idea about the specific issue, but I like to pass on some general advice I have received myself here over time:
    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated?
As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.
    http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/system_disk_utilities/onyx.html
Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.

  • I was told to uninstall then reinstall itunes because "no apple application support"so i did, now wont recognise my iphone and says to uninstall itunes and instll the 64-bit version of itunes so i did again, and again, and again.still wont work pls help me?

I was told to uninstall then reinstall itunes because "no apple application support", so i did, now it wont recognise my iphone and says to unistall+install the 64-bit version of itunes so i did, again..and again..still nothing please help me?!

Let's try a standalone Apple Mobile Device Support install. It still might not install, but fingers crossed any error messages will give us a better idea of the underlying cause of why it's not installing under normal conditions.
Download and save a copy of the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe) installer file to your hard drive:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Download and install the free trial version of WinRAR:
    http://www.rarlab.com/
Right-click the iTunesSetup.exe (or iTunes64setup.exe), and select "Extract to iTunesSetup" (or "Extract to iTunes64Setup"). WinRAR will expand the contents of the file into a folder called "iTunesSetup" (or "iTunes64Setup").
Go into the folder and doubleclick the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (or AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi) to do a standalone AMDS install.
(If it offers you the choice to remove or repair, choose "Remove", and if the uninstall goes through successfully, see if you can reinstall by doubleclicking the AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi again.)
Does it install (or uninstall and then reinstall) properly for you? If so, can you get a normal iTunes install to go through properly now?
If instead you get an error message during the install (or uninstall), let us know what it says. (Precise text, please.)
