Infoarea in BI 7

Hi experts...
I'm new to BI 7...I have already worked on BI 3.5.......can anyone please tell me how to create an infoarea in BI7.0....thanxz in advance...suitable points would be rewarded for the best answer

in RSA1 go to the top of the Infoprovider (right below the expand and search icon) and right click and create infoarea
that will do it.

How to move infoobject from one infoarea to other

Hi All,
I need to move a particular infoobject from one infoobject catalog to other.
1. I went to change mode of infoobject catalog and tried to drag and drop the particular infoobject, but its not possible.
2. Also let me know whether CMOD code is client dependent or independent.
Kindly throw some pointers on this.

Hi,
Go to change mode of infoobject for which you want to change Infoarea.
In the Master Data /Text tab you have option of selecting InfoArea Using F4 help,
you can select the new Infoarea then save and activate infoobject.
After that refresh the screen you can infoobject in right Infoarea.

BPC 10.0 NW - InfoAreas missing

Hej Gurus,
One of our users tried to make a copy of an environment and calling the copy "BPC". This copy failed after some time. After this failed copy, we keep getting the same error message everytime we try to copy an environment:
"Crete environment EnvironmentShell failure"
However, we are not trying to create an environment called Environment called EnvironmentShell but rather using the EnvironmentShell as the source of the copy. The same happens, if we try to copy from other sources, it fails giving the source environments name.
I have therefore been into RSA1 in BW to find the problem, and I am pretty sure, I have found it.
The normal structure in InfoProviders in RSA1 is
Business Planning and Consolidation - /CPMB/BPC
- Environment 1 - /CPMB/Env1
   - Cubes in Environment 1
   - InfoObjects in Environment 1
   - Multiproviders in Environment 1
- Environment 2 - /CPMB/Env2
   - Cubes in Environment 2
   - InfoObjects in Environment 2
   - Multiproviders in Environment 2
etc.
However, this structure no longer exist in our BW. The CPMB/BPC top note, and all InfoAreas have been deleted, and therefore all Cubes, InfoObjects and MultiProviders is in the "Unassigned Notes".
Is there anyway to recreate the structure in BW, so we are able to create new stuff?

Hi Mikkel,
You may try to drag and drop (just using your mouse) back to the /CPMB/BPC. Can you provide a screenshot? what does it look like in the unassigned node? Are all the cubes and infoobjects as a whole are in the /CPMB/Env2 in the unassigned nodes?
Also, you can check table UJA_APPL from SE16 and see if you can find the entries for the corresponding environment.

Infoarea not appearing in Query designer

Hi - I have some cubes created under cross application components infoarea but the infoarea is not appearing in the query designer. I have to create reports on these. how can I see them in query designer?

Creation of roles with restricted access to infoarea

HI !
We need to create some custom roles in BW, which will restrict the user (with that role) to access only specific infoareas in BW, i.e. the reports and Infoproviders etc created under those InfoAreas.
When I tried to create a role in tcode PFCG, I dont get any such options to restrict by InfoArea. Do we have to create custom Authorization objects for this and assign them to this role? if yes, how do we create such Authorization objects?
I am totally new to roles/profiles etc... i read the online documentations, but cudnt understand them much.

try authorization object S_RS_COMP - business explorer compnent (under RS - business information warehouse),
you can specify infoarea, infocube

Unable to find my InfoArea in Query Designer

Hi all,
Iu2019ve created an InfoObjectCatalog, InfoArea, DSO and an InfoCube. The data source, transformation,DTPs are all active and the flat file is loaded into the cube. I've the data also in the cube. I want to create a query out this cube that I created. But when I open query designer and look for my info area, I donu2019t find it. I searched for Info Area in Find but it says u2018No objects foundu2019. I can't find any of the objects i.e. either the cube or the Info Area.
My question is why canu2019t find any of the objects that I created inspite of all the objects being active? How do I locate my objects in Query Designer that I created in BI backend?
Please advise.

Hi,
You need to create the Query first to Find the Info Area (relevant to that Query)
You can search the Info Area Manually (if you dont have Query also) provided You need to say New at Query designer Standard Menu.

Cannot create InfoArea (Source System ID Problem)

Hi,
I cannot create an InfoArea in our BW TestSystem due to the source system ID. I get the following message...
"Choose a Change Request with Target System CCX"
The Performance Asst. gives me the following protocol.....
Diagnosis
The selected change request CC7K900485 has target system .
However, the objects you edit can only be recorded in change requests with the target system CCX.
The correct target system is determined from the package and transport layer to which the object concerned belongs.
System Response
The selected change request CC7K900485 is not used to record the objects.
Procedure
Either choose a different change request or change the target system of the change request CC7K900485.
From the prompt window for change requests, you can display all requests you can use by choosing Own requests.
Alternatively, you can create a new request by choosing Create request.
For more information, see the SAP Library under BC - Basis Components -> Change and Transport System .
I have been in the SourceSystem ID Maintenance (CtrlShiftF11) and noticed that all system ID are two lettered. Could you pls explain how I proceed with this problem.

Thanks for ur advice. I am on the Requests (Free Selection) screen after going through SE03 and can see the Request CC7K900485. Under that there are a lot of users with comments like "Development/Correction" or "Repair". Could u help me with how I can change the target system to CCX.

How to move an ODS between InfoAreas

I have an ODS I created that is in the Unassigned Nodes InfoArea. How can I move it to another InfoArea?

Have you tried with drug & drop?
If it is not enabled then you can ebale it in the table RSADMINV by checking the checkbox.

You cannot edit the object AREA 0INDUSTRIES. This may be due to the following reasons:
The corresponding namespace /BPR3R/ is not entered in the namespace table with a valid change license.
In the namespace table there is no entry with a valid change license that matches the template /BPR3R/.
System Response
The function terminates.
Procedure
Check the name of the object AREA 0INDUSTRIES. If necessary, choose another object name.
Otherwise, let the system administrator check the change licenses of the namespaces in your SAP system.
Maintain the namespaces in the Tools of the Transport Organizer under Administration -> Display/Change Namespaces.
You need to check and correct the entries that match the template /BPR3R/.
You need to distinguish between the following cases:
The namespace is /0SAP/:
Make sure that the namespace role is C (recipient) and the flags SSCR popup and SAP standard are activated. The license fields remain empty.
You did not create the namespace yourself. Instead, the namespace owner is SAP or another software vendor.
Make sure that the namespace role is C (recipient). The field Repair license must either contain the valid license, or the flag SSCR popup must be activated. Contact the namespace owner and ask what you should now do, and what the valid repair license is.

Then we did the below action:
se06 --> system change option
in this view, we found /BPR3R/ this Prefix.
And it is empty in /BPR3R/ 's namespace/name range volume.
What is next action we should take to solve this problem?

IDT BICS Connection Slow Listing Infoareas

Hi,
We are having an issue when we create a BICS connection and trying to browse to select a query it takes a long time to list infoareas, cubes, and queries. Our environment is BO4 SP6P1 against SAP BW 7.3. When we use the search feature to find a query it never completes. Is anyone else seeing this? Does anyone know the workflow of servers that are used to list this information? Do the DSL service or Tomcat come into play?

if you increse bandwidth speed ...it may take less time.

Infoarea missing in query designer

We are using BI 7 analysis authourization, we had a request for one user to add one ods access, we have granted access to the user to ODS via RSA1. But issue is we are not able to see the infoarea and ods in query designer.
Is we need any authourization to use the ods in BEX analyser or any other things need to be followed

For query we need to assign some roles .Sometime even if we are able to see an infoarea in RSA1 but not able to see the query
Check the role that query is having in RSA1->metadata repository
In BEX analyzer you can check roles assigned to that user .This will tell you which infoarea are accessible to the user .
You can also check in SU01 for roles of a specific user .
Ask your BASIS to check which roles are needed to be assigned by comparing roles of user who can see those infoarea and who cannot .

Perhaps you should try creating a user that carries exactly the same authorizations for your intended user/s. Once created, you can then see if the infoarea can then be visible still.

Problem in InfoArea Creation

Hi All,
While creating InfoArea displaying Error in Object editing pop-up window and showing message that Package Z_TBCPACK does not exist. This package we used to transport the Cube from testing server to production server. The cube is transported to production server but while I double click that cube the above same message is displaying i.e. displaying Error in Object editing pop-up window and showing message that Package Z_TBCPACK does not exist

Hi Paul,
There are several ways to do this. You can check the transports in SE03 > Search for objects in requests and tasks > in the object selection type in R3TR DEVC Z_TBCPACK and execute the search. If it comes up in a transport, you can check the logs of this request to see whether it was sent successfully to Production.
You can also look in production table TADIR withe same info to see if Z_TBCPACK exists in Production.
