Inits/Deltas during Uprgrades and support packs

How are people handling the deltas and initializations when upgrades and support packs are applied to the source system. We had to delete our delta queues and reload everything!!! I know that's not right. ( At least I hope that's not right!!!). Please advise...

Ye s- you should not have to reload targets a a result of an SP/Upgrade.
When there are changes to the PI_BASIS plugin (extraction from ERP), you need to clear your V3 and Delta queues.
When SAP Service API (internal and BI Data mart extraction) is changed, you need to clear the BW delta queues.  This can require two complete extraction and laod processes.
As a matter of practice, we always clear all queues prior to an SP/upgrade.
See the How to... Checklist: Rapid SAP Netweaver 7.0 BI Technical Upgrade document which is where you can fins this info page 11or 12.

  • Anywhere to find newly added countries in enhancement pack and support pack

Our HR wants to proactively identify the new countries being introduced through enhancement pack and support pack, so configurations such as V_T503Z (country assignment for employee group/subgroup) can be updated accordingly.
How can I find such a list?
    Thanks.
    Joan

    Hi Qiong
If you have ever tried downloading the notes delivered under CLC or HRSP for SAP-HR Component, you would see that the sub-component names are generally based on country abbreviations example PY-AU, PY-SG etc. Also the country names are mentioned there. So if any new country comes up you would know it from the sub-component name. However, whether you need to configure anything in your system for these new countries depends on the fact whether your client has operations in that country or not and whether your project is supporting that country operations for the client or not.
It is more likely that we keep checking the CLC and HRSP for any new functionalities introduced by SAP for the countries that we are supporting for the client instead of checking for new countries altogether.

  • Difference between service pack and support pack

    Hi,
what is the exact difference between service pack and support pack. Are they same?
The version details presnt in integration builder -> help-> inforamtion  of my XI server are as follows :
    Service pack: 09
    Release: 645_VAL_REL
does it mean that the both support package and service package for my XI server are 09?
    thanks in adavance

    1. A service pack (in short SP) is a collection of updates, fixes and/or enhancements to a software program delivered in the form of a single installable package. Service packs are usually numbered, and thus shortly referred to as SP1, SP2, etc. It is notable that they may bring, besides bug fixes, entirely new features.

For the ABAP parts of usage type PI, this is the implementation of support packages. For the Java parts, the deployment with the Java Support Package Manager (JSPM) is used.
You can find currently available support packages on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/sp-stacks.
A description of how to apply support packages is available in SAP Note 879289.

  • Difference between Hot Pack and Support Pack

    Hello,
Can anyone throw some light on difference between Hot Pack and Support Pack(if there is any) and what is Tax Update Bulletins, do we need to configure for TUBs or what is the SAP HR consultants role is Tubs.
    Thanks

    Hi,
I believe both (hot pack and support pack) are one and the same.
For TUBS, you can find more information in:
Service Marketplace -> SAP ERP Human Capital Management -> Country Info -> North America -> United States -> Tax Update Bulletins -> Tax Factory 8 -> Tub Downloads

  • DDIC_ACTIVATION Error during application of Support Pack SAPKH47007

    Hi All,
We were trying to apply Support Pack SAPKH47007 and it gave us an error in DDIC_Activation Phase and when i checked the logs it gave us this error
Relationship TMFK-TDID for table TTXS does not exist
    Check dependent search help S_TMFK_SETTLE
    Search help S_TMFK_SETTLE is consistent
I searched and found one Relevant Note for this SAP Note Num : 625098 and it tells us to delete the following fields
Delete the fields FLG_AK_PAYM_FICA and FLG_AK_PAYM_FIAR from the table
I went to SE11 and i dont see this fields there, and even though if i see them i dont think i can delete them coz it is asking Developer Key.
Upon further checking i found that if we delete the Contents in  Pat01 and Pat03 we can go ahead and redo the support packs from begining. Can anyone throw some light on this as to how safe is this?
    Regards,
    Ershad Ahmed.

Did you read the note I gave you?
    The note says:
Symptom: An error occurs in the DDIC_ACTIVATION phase when you import Support Package SAPKH47007. The DDIC activation log records the following error messages:
Relationship TMFK-TDID for table TTXS does not exist
    <...>
Solution: A general solution to the problem is available with R/3 Support Package SAPKH47010. To avoid the error, import the Support Packages SAPKH47007 and SAPKH47010 together in a queue.
If you have already encountered this error, the queue must be reset and extended to include Support Package SAPKH47010. Since you cannot reset the queue from the DDIC_ACTIVATION phase using normal means, this must be done by SAP Support (Component BC-UPG-OCS).

  • Basic Configuration and Support Pack Stacks

    Hi everyone,
Just a general question about the Solution Manager 7 "basic configuration" stuff.
Are you required to perform the "Basic Configuration" everytime after you apply a new support pack stack to solution manager?
Or is it a one off, after the initial installation?
    Cheers

  • Automatic Transport Requests and Support Pack Stacks using CHaRM

    Hi Experts,
Could you please give your valueable inputs on below Requriements :
    1. All Transports Requests needs to be Automatically moved from Solution Manager using CHaRM.
    2. Automatic Support Package Stacks needs to be updated using Solman - CHaRM
would be helpful if any one could send the documentation on above requirements.
    Regards,
    Vijaysateesh

    Hi,
    >
    > 1. All Transports Requests needs to be Automatically moved from Solution Manager using CHaRM.
Yes. You can schedule a periodic job (say for example daily 6M) to import all released transport requests from  QAS to PRD of a maintenance cycle/project. This is the task "Import Transport Request(Backround)" given in task list (tcode-SCMA) of a maintenance cycle.

    > 2. Automatic Support Package Stacks needs to be updated using Solman - CHaRM
I haven't done this. But this is the  task "Import Support Package" given in task list (tcode-SCMA) of a maintenance cycle.
I hope there is no specific documents for these. It's the same documents related to ChaRM.

  • Transports during Support Pack application/testing

During our last Support Pack processing, (SP14-SP16) we had applied the support packs to Dev, QA and were waiting for our functional teams to complete their testing prior to applying the SPs to PRD.  During this time, the SAP manager insisted we promote "a minor change" to PRD via the transport system!  We protested that this would violate best practices (we have previously always "frozen" production changes during SP application and testing) and could possibly introduce program and data errors!  In order to maintain our employment, we acquiesced to the change.  Where can I get documentation the supports our Basis team stance?  Any input is appreciated.
    Steve

You can quote following line and use the note as reference,
Test system, quality assurance system and production system should always have the same Support Package status.

  • Trial versions: How to install notes and/or support packs

Is it possible to install notes and support packs in a trial system?
Can a connection with SAPOSS be made?

The software you downloaded is for Mac OS X; to get the Mac OS 9 version of the software, download the file for your language from the following pages (iPod, iTunes). The Mac OS 9 iPod software only works for first and second generation iPods, and requires 9.21 to run. Mac OS 9's iTunes will only sync first and second generation iPods, as well as third generation iPods which are running version 2.0x of the firmware.

  • Init Delta while client it's working

Client demand us for make an init delta in diferents PM Cubes (0COOM_CO2 and 0PS_C04) for inconsistent problems.
For a weekend server problems I have to do this on monday morning, while client was working inserting registers on R/3 side. This proces fulls about 5 hours and finished arround 2 pm.
The question is, is it correct? client says us that the registers inserted during monday morning are not in BW now. Could be because on this time SAP was doing this init delta?
All delta are correct, in green and wtih report icon.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks Raf for the reply,
I've always heard that the customer has always the right, but in this case seems not. They were wrong filtering and so did not see the data.
Although I have learned two things, you should not make a Init delta during the week, and that nothing is going to do it.

  • Service Pack Vs Support Pack

    Hi All,
Is there a difference between Service Pack and Support Pack ?
    Thanks,
    Prashanth

    Hi,
    I think. This are synonyms.
    Microsoft takes the name ServicePack.
In SAP there are same objects to changes the system:
note: to correct one program. to correct one mistake.
support package: change a list programs.
support package stack: group of patches for all software components. SAP tests this combination of corrections intensive.

  • Does support pack write over snotes?

    Hi,
If I have put in SAP notes via transaction snote and the SAP  installs a support pack which may contain or may not contain the SAP note.
Does the support pack write over the snote?
Or does it migrate the support pack with the snote?
Or does the snote like changing code with modification assistant show in transaction SPAU?
    regards
    Baran

SPAM -> Support pack transaction do the same job has SNOTE.
And Support pack is a collection of Notes.
So when SPAM go to the program and see the note is already applied .. SPAM don't do anything (if program is correct and not modified).

  • Error during application of scm 7.0 support pack

While applying support pack to our SCM 7.0 system (New Installation),
We encountered a SPAM error in xpra_execution phase, due to automatic

    Message number : 366
    Message type: A

We had a look at few notes mentioned by SAP support on 1319241. which
    specifies a solution as
u201CIf you encounter the error message above, please run the Elementary
test - Compare Number Range and Maximum SID - for Master Data 0REQUID
in transaction RSRV. When it turns red, the error can be corrected by
    pressing the "Correct Error" button.u201D
But we are already getting the light as green in the elementary test

    program/job is getting terminated.
