Input Qty Variances

Hi,
In the production order confirmation, I posted consumption quantities greater than the BOM.  And so I am expecting input qty variances.  But in the variance categories of KKS2, the variances are being posted under resource-usage variance.  I have already checked the material origin and run again another std cost estimate and then made another confirmation.  The system is still not showing the variance under input qty category.
Thank you in advance for your comments.

Thess

Hi Thess,
Input quantity variances
Input quantity variances are caused by differences between the planned and actual consumption quantities of materials and activities. Turn on the Material origin indicator in the costing view of the master record of all materials that have a large influence on your costs.
If you want to see input quantity variances and input price variances, you must make the following settings:
Turn on the Material origin indicator in the costing view of the material master record.
Turn on the Record quantity indicator in the cost element.
When system calculates the variances, the system does not check whether the Record quantity indicator is turned on. If quantities are not recorded, however, it is not possible to calculate quantity variances. If the Record quantity indicator is turned on, a warning message is issued if you do not enter a quantity in consumption postings.
If the above requirements are not met, the variances are reported as remaining input variances.
Resource-usage variances
Resource-usage variances are caused by the use of different materials and activities than were planned.
The system calculates resource-usage variances if:
The target costs of a cost element, origin group, or origin are not zero while the actual costs of the same cost element, origin group, or origin are zero.
The target costs of a cost element, origin group, or origin are zero but the actual costs of the same cost element, origin group, or origin are not zero.
Pls cross check your settings and revert back...

  • Invoice Block with Qty Variance

    Hi All
    In one of my scenarios
    PO = 100 Qty - Overdelivery Tolerance - Unlimited
    GR = 120 Qty
But as far as MIRO is concerned - my requirement is MIRO should be booked for PO qty only i.e. for 100. (Vendor Liability should be for PO Qty only)
System takes 120 by default from MIGO. Fine, atleast in this case I should be able to set Invoice Block for the Payment.
Currently for the Invoice Block - for Qty Variance Key - DQ - System considers the difference between MIRO Qty & MIGO Qty which zero in my case. So system doesnt set any block.
    Any suggestion ?
    Thanks a lot.

    Hi
I have already tried both of the options, but not working.
In fact, I couldnt get the PO qty in the MIRO by default still after setting the Indicator - GR Based IV - False, in one of the other issue also.
As far as DQ settings are concerned, they are confined to the MIRO - MIGO qty (If I am not wrong), but here the PO qty is in the question.
    Kindly suggest

  • Input Quantity Variance and Input Price Variance for Production Order

    Dear All
I am running variance program KKS2 for calculating variance of production order. for Activity variances are coming under input price variance and input quantity varinace but for material the variances is now shown separately for quantity and price rather it is shown as variances total amount. Can someone help me in know why material quanitty variance and price variance not shown separately
    Regards

How does input variance and output varia.nce will be calculated on the settlement of production order after TECO.
VARIANCE CALCULATION DEPENDS ON CONFIGURATION IN THE FOLLOWING AREAS,
    1) VARIANCE VARIANT -  DETERMINES WHAT VAREIANCE CATEGORIES ARE CALCULATED, E.G MATERIAL PRICE , USAGE, LABOUR RATE , USAGE VARIANCE ETC..
    2) TARGET COST VERSIONS
    3) VALUATION VARIANT FOR WIP  AND SCRAP
Can we check in KOB3 or COOIS.
    KOB3 -  YES
COOIS -  CHECK IN COST REPORT

  • PO Invoice verification - price/qty variance, No GR

    Hi Experts,
Before posting a PO invoice, I need to make sure there is no price/qty variance(from the PO) and there is a GR associated. How do I make sure of this? Does anybody know a BAPI or a FM?
      I am on 4.6C.
    Regards,
    Nanditha

    Hi,
Let me rephrase my qn. I am trying to use BAPI_INCOMINGINVOICE_CREATE to post a PO invoice with no associated GR. The invoice gets posted but with payment blocked. The BAPI does not return any messages although there is a block on the invoice.
I would like to be able to do a background post attempt(either using BAPI or other FM) and if that is not successful(eg: payment blocked), use exception handling to rectify the cause of the error. So, the background method should return to me an indicator or message if there is something other than a successful post and a BKPF entry.
I hope the scenario is clear.

  • PRICE AND QTY VARIANCE IN INVOICE

    THERE'S A SCENARIO
QUANTITY AND PRICE VARIANCE DURING INVOICE:
    PO QTY - 10
    PO PRICE  - 100/PC
    INVOICE BY VENDOR
    QTY - 5
    PRICE - 110/PC
    GR
    QTY - 4
    AFTER SETTLING THE ABOVE
AGAIN A INVOCE COMES FRM VENDOR
    QTY - 6
    PRICE - 120/PC
IN THE ABOVE CASE HOW VL THE SYSTEM REACT AND TO WHICH ACCOUNTS THE EXTRA AMMOUNTS BE POSTED?

If your material is valuated at a moving average price the price changes line with the delivery costs.the p.o price or invoice price varies from the price in the material master record, the difference is posted ot stock account(inventory ,if there is stock coverage for the invoice quantity.
If stock of material is less than the quantity specified in invoice because goods were withdrawn between g/r and i/r the stock amount is debited or credited for the actual stock. The remaining amount is posted to a price difference account.

  • MRBR Report- Price and qty variance tables/structure/Function module

    Hi
I am in the process of developing a customised report similar to MRBR report. I am not very clear on the logic used for "Difference Qty" and "Difference Value".
MRBR is taking values from strucrure ARSEG. Is anybody aware if there are any tables from where we can get this information ? Are there any Function modules that SAP uses to arrive at this difference.
I am aware that we canget the information from EKBE table and calculate our seleves. At times the values do not match and the logic do not seem to be straight forward.
Has someone worked around this area ?
Thanks for your time in advance.

    Hi,

  • Explain Price qty variance account postings...

    Hello
Could anyone explain the price quantity variance and its account postings.
    What will happen when:
    1. PO for 100 pcs @ 2.0
    2. IR for 50 pcs @ 2.2
    3.  GR For 80 pcs
    4. IR again for rest 50 pcs @ 2.2
What will the GR take as a price and what will be the account entries at fourth step??
    Thanks & Regards

    Hi
    1. PO for 100 pcs @ 2.0
    2. IR for 50 pcs @ 2.2
Total GR/IR debit will be 110 for 50 pcs
    3. GR For 80 pcs
Hope assumes the value of GR/IR debit from IR for 50pcs and for rest 30 it will take price from PO.
So GR/IR credit will be 170 for 80pcs
    4. IR again for rest 50 pcs @ 2.2
It will take @2 for 30pcs as there is GR, for rest 20pcs it will assume 2.2 but if the price is MAP, then total quantity will be revaluated at 2.2.
    Please check once.
    Thanks

  • Variance not splitting Qty & Price

    HI experts
Need to identify what is going wrong here, i have configured PA Transfer structure for variance settlement as below.
    PRIV     Input Price Variance     VV011
    QTYV     Input Quantity Variance     VV012
    RSUV     Resource-Usage Variance     VV013
INPV     Remaining Input qty Variance     VV014
    MXPV     Mixed-Price Variance     VV015
    OPPV     Output Price Variance     VV016
LSFV     Lot Size Variance/Fixed-Cost Variance     VV017
    REMV     Remaining Variance     VV018
    SCRP     Scrap     VV019
Now for a SFG in SCE say the BOM Raw material is costed at MAP of 10 for Std Qty of 20. Now against in Production for the SFG in actual GOods Issue if the Raw material is issued for 25 Qty (Std 20) and MAP at the time of issue is 12 (Std 10).
Now while settling to COPA in ko88 i can expect the variance of 300 splited between qty (QTYV) & price variance (PRIV), but COPA documents are settled for entire 300$ only against remaning input qty variance(INPV). I checked variance variant all tick mark is there properly.
I tried the same in Sandbox it is working fine having issue only inDEV. What needs to be done to settle the 300 into both Qty & Price variance in 2 difference COPA Value field.
    Thanks
    Aravind

    hi
you have to assign proper cost elements to the variance categories, i.e which cost element should be the source for the different variance categories in PA transfer structure. If this was not defined all the variance will be settled to remaining input variance
    check this also
The Material origin indicator is set in the costing view of the master record of cost-critical materials
The Record quantity indicator is set in all relevant cost elements

  • Variance categories and COPA

    Hi,
I have already configured the different variance categories e.g. input price variance, input qty variance, etc..  Currently, its posting to one GL account - Production Variances.   But client's reqt is to classify to material price variance, material usage variance, direct labor - rate variance, direct labor - efficiency variance.  How can this be done?
    Thanks to advise.
    Regards,
    Thess

    Hi,
in the PA transfer structure, you need to declare the variance category of the cost elements.
And, you have to assign Value fields to Each source line.
Why Presently only one variance category is getting posted is, because, if you dont define the variance categories as I explained above, system uses FI cost elements, which is only one, and form the variance line items with that ONLY ONE GL.
    Hope I have clearly explained.

  • Production Order Variance Split based on Cost Component Split

    Hi All,
We want the material/labor/overhead variances on the production Order to go to different value fields in the P&L.
We will be issuing Actual Material/Overheads to the Production order and there will variances for both Material and Overheads due to differene in Standard and Actual Qty issued.
But Standard SAP Variance Split Functionality will club the Material/Labor/Overhead Variances as Input Qty Variances so we cannot split it into different lines in the P&L.
Any ideas on how this can be done.
    Thanks and regards,
    Ankur

    Hi Ankur
Its not possble in FI, but certainly possible in COPA
Create as many assignment lines in PA Trf Str as your Cost Comp Structure...
Assign the relevant GL/Cost ele in the SOURCE and choose the radio button "Costs/Revenues", instead of "Variances"
You can then assign each assignment to a separate Val Field in COPA

  • Qty and Date Variance using Purchasing InfoCube

Using Purchasing Cube, I want to find out the Qty Variance and Date variance,
Iu2019m calculating these using GR Posting date and Requested Delivery Date and GR Qty and Qty in UoM.
    Iu2019ve the following doubts:
    1.     In order to calculate the Variance, do we need to filter the data pertaining to any particular BW Transaction Key (0PROCESSKEY) since we donu2019t want Goods Issues (can be Purchase Returns or intra company Stock Transfers ), If so what are the values for the Process Key to be considered for filter.
    2.     Though the Qty key figure matches the Requested Qty, the PO status is u2018Openu2019. What could be the possible reasons?
    3.     The qty. and days variance for the POs already received can be calculated. But what should be done incase of POs for which Goods are not yet received? Again in that scenario, we can have two cases: Delivery Past Due and Delivery Date in Future. How to tackle these 2 cases. As per our Requirement, we have to calculate the difference between System date and Requested Delivery Date incase of Past Delivery Date so that we can have the variance as of System Date. Like If the Delivery Date is 25th Nov, if we run the Query on 28th, it should show 3 days late and if run on 29th, it has to be 4 days if still undelivered. Please give me the code to be written in Transformations.
We have not yet decided what has to be done in the second case i.e. Future Delivery Date. Please guide me what is the best option in that case.

You need to add Z-Keyfigures and then write Routines based on Process Keys in Update Rules/Transformations and filter the required Process Keys, you need to find required Process Keys in ECC, SPRO-->Reference IMG an dthen search for BW Transactional Key and see it disuss with MM FUnctional COnsultant and Identify it.
    2. Though the Qty key figure matches the Requested Qty, the PO status is u2018Openu2019. What could be the possible reasons?
I faced the problem with 2LIS_02_* datasources so I created new generic data source and used it.  Just take only one record with that you track in ECC. You must take MM Consultants help, they will guide you.

Once you have Qty and Dates from Transactional Data then it is easy to calculate the Date Varience and Qty varience, see the follwoing URL it is having one article How to Calculate Meterial Aging whcih will give how to calculate the differnce..

  • Bom Component qty & WIP Quantity differ at Trget cost calculation

    Dear gurus,
i am facing the problem with WIP at target cost calculation in REM.
    My issue is
BOM Component qantity is 9.524 TO  and price is 2000 then total cost is  9.521*2000=19048.
but in WIP Report kkas in WIP explation it takes input qty 9.52 T0 and price 2000 then total price is 19040.
    Difference is 19048 - 19040 =8
and also when i am issuing actual qty i.e 9.524 in BOM then my price is 19048.00 ant at time of variance calculaton then quantaty variance as   9.52.0-9.524.0=-0.04  then 0.004*2000 =-8
    Please suggest solution for this.

    Hi
Rounding differences between target and actual values and quantities are not unlikely to occur and cannot always be avoided but can be minimized.
Small prices and price unit of 1 are likely to cause more of these rounding differences..
The actual credit is simply calculated as price * quantity. The target credit however is calculated during the variance calculation
and based on the sum of all items in the itemization/cost components of the cost estimate and therefore more accurate.
To avoid this I suggest to store the material price with a larger price unit, i.e. 1000
Std cost release stores price upto 2 decimals and target cost calculation goes upto 3 decimals...
Please check also the note 1265918 for more information to this topic.

  • Variance details

    Hi ,
I have executed KKS2  and got the Variances.
i have configured all the variances to flow to COPA.
Is there any report in SAP to view the varaiances in details like how much is towards input price and how much is towards input qty etc.,
Can we see these details order wise also.

  • Qty Blocking scenario related to GR Based Invoice Verification

    Friends,
I'm facing issues related to automatic deletion of Qty blocking reason during LIV.
    Scenario is like below:
    GR1 Qty = 5
    IR1 Qty = 7
This invoice is posted by system but blocked for payment due to Qty variance.
Expectation is that store person should GR for balance 2 qty.
However even when this additional GR is posted, it is appearing as separate line item in PO History also and is not linked to IR1  and qty block against that invoice remains as it is there and it can not be released in MRBR automatic release functionality.
However, it's working fine in case if there is No GR Based IN activated for PO Line item.
is it a standard thing that we can't implement Qty blocking scenario ( & obviously it's auto release after reqd GR ) for GR Based IV scene.

Thanks PRIYA for prompt reply as usual.
You are right , system will expect additional GR for diff qty.
However issue is that even I post this additional GR for 2 qty , system is not relasing this blocked invoice automatically in MRBR automatic release function.
However, if i test same scenario for PO item NOT having GR based-IV tick...system automatically release such qty blocked invoice in MRBR once it find additional GR posted against same PO line item.
But i case of GR based IV, system is not linking this additional GR to pending qty blocked invoice.
just FYI, However invoice blcoking due to price variance is working fine ( iwth reqd PO Line item price change, system is able to release this price blocked invoice automatically in MRBR automatic release function.
I believe you might have qty blocking scenario for GR Based IV cases in your any of previous projects. if yes, pls advise me.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Settle Production Variances to COPA- Cost elements and Value fields

    Dear All,
I know this question has been discussed in the past, but I have one specific doubt regarding this topic.:
When assigning cost elements to variance categories in t-code KEI1, how do we figure out what combination of cost elements (in the top half of the screen) constitute Input Price Variance, Scrap variance etc (in the bottom half of the screen)? I know the net of the postings on those cost elements tells us what variances we are looking it, but how do we get the cost elements (group) for let's say, 'Input/Output Quanity Varinace or 'Lot size Variance' ?
Or is this a futile exercise? May be I should just create three types of variances: Labor, Machine and Overhead. And I know what cost elements (net of the postings) would, in total, make up the $ variance in each of those categories. I can then use them in my report painter reports.
Please help clear the fog for me.
    Ajay?
    Thanks a lot,
    Deepak

    Hi Deepak,
    Welcome to SDN!!
There are 2 ways of updating variances in COPA... I Prefer the 2nd option always...
    1. Category wise variances (Input Prc, Usage var, etc) - Here, create a Cost ele group, where in you include all the Cost elements that can be posted to the Prod orders
For the sake of simplicity, you can include Cost elements 1 to 99999999 in the Cost element group...
    2. Cost Comp Structure wise variances -
    a. Create as many assignment lines in PA Trf Structure as in your Cost Comp Str...
Eg: If your Cost Comp Str in OKTZ has Raw Mat, Labor, Overhead - Create 3 Assignments in PA Trf Structure..
    b. Assign the same cost elements in the SOURCE as in the Cost Comp Str
    c. Choose the radio button "Costs/Revenues" in your assignment line, instead of " Variance on Production orders"
    d. Assign each Assignment line to a separate Value Field
