i buyed iphone 4s ....i updated it to ios 5.0.1 now it starts from start screen and says insert valid sim with no pin code....what does this mean i inserted many sim cards but not working ....m stuck at activation screen n cant do anything...my baseband is 1.0.13 and having model 9A405

It is what I thought already. The problem is, that when you buy a second hand iPhone, you never know what someone did to it. A jailbroken iPhone you should never try to update, because then it won't work anymore. You can use it, but NEVER try to update. This was a painful lesson, I feel for you. In this forum you will not find any halp on this problem. You may try in some other forum perhaps.

I've just bought a new factory unlocked Iphone 4 from a top rated seller in USA, came back to my country, inserted my Sim in the Iphone, and got the message:
"No Sim" "Insert valid sim with no pin lock to activate Iphone"
This Sim I was using in my old Iphone and actually in a Blackberry Storm.
After the message I put it back again in the BB, and it works fine.
But in the Iphone I get always this message.
One thing: My SIM is a regular one, and I had to use a tempalte available in the net to cut it into a micro SIM.
In the BB it keeps on working.
Any idea?

I answer your question: I buy a lot of things from ebay, and I just looked for "an original factory unlocked" one, assuming their are original, just that.
If I had known I could have bought it CHEAPER directly in Apple, I would have never done it in ebay! (I was told in my country that if you buy in the web, normally you get a discount, sound logic to me.
On the other hand I saw that this seller sold over 1000 Iphones and I trusted that's all.
I'm not dealing with phones, I sell art.
Anyway I still trust what is written there, that they are factory unlocked, and I'll try what you say tomorrow with my carrier: I'll buy a micro sd, and if it still doesn't work, I'll write this seller to see what's going on

Hi, pls see reply from apple store team below. They've said it was an error and promised to help. BUT when I'm truing to activate it, itunes shows the same screen and there is NO RESTORE option...
I am sorry to hear that your iPhone 4 seems to be locked. I have reported the problem to our technical team who will remotely unlock your iPhone within the next 24-48 hours. Once this has been done (by Tuesday evening at the latest) please connect your iphone 4 to the latest version of iTunes & choose the "Restore" option. This will then complete the unlocking process.

Dear Sir, Recently I noticed that my iphone 3GS is responding very slowly, I thought it got hanged due to the high memory usage so I restarted it but after the restart it showed me iTunes logo & a USB cable. Though the SIM card inside the phone doesn’t have any lock but the message says: No SIM card installed insert a valid SIM with no pin lock to activate iphone. When I connected it to itunes I get this message: iTunes could not connect to the iPhone because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPhone before it can be used with iTunes, there was a passcode on my iphone which can not be unlocked now as after sliding the arrow the only options I get are: emergency calls & info’s as IMEI: 01 215500 xxxxxx x & ICCID: Unknown. I was suggested to delete the complete programme & get the iTunes reinstalled but I don’t want to lose my data. Can you help me to get my data back? Pls. reply ASAP. Thanks & regards.

ICCID unknown is a critical failure, usually caused by hacking or jailbreaking the phone. It can not be fixed. The phone will need to be replaced.

Only the cell carrier to whom the iPhone is locked can authorize unlocking. You will need to contact T-Mobile and as them about getting your iPHone unlocked.

Virgin use the Optus network here in Australia - which is why, the 3G phones showed you connected to the Optus network, and not to the Virgin network...They don't have their own network, they piggyback on Optus - which is why it would show that it is locked to Optus!
They also said they would unlock my iPhone 4 - which has been done! So there's obviously something wrong with the phone...

You will need to establish an account with whoever the phone is locked with and restore it. Or you will not to unofficially unlock it again.

Lost my SIM card's PIN code and PUK code!!!!

I lost my SIM card's PIN codes and PUK code.
Our mobile provider is not helpful. We have to give around $100 to unlock these codes. I cannot spend $100 for it. I'm from Myanmar (Burma).

Either way round you must remember that the SIM and any codes related to it are the property of your network. THEY control what happens to it.

How do I retrieve my comes with music pin code if I have lost it?

What is the circumstance of the error? Have you changed something related in the PC or perhaps done a system restore to a previous date? Has anything happened to the phone like a software update?
It appears for whatever reason that your PC and/or phone is not being recognised as a CWM device. If the phone is at fault, formatting the memory card usually helps. I'm not sure what could be causing the issue if it is PC-related, but perhaps try this (it is actually the solution for a different issue, but it might work):
If you are using Windows XP 32/64:
Uninstall the Nokia Music application. Once removed from the PC, delete or rename the MDataStore.db3 file in C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Application Data\Nokia\Nokia Data Store\DataBase. Then reinstall the Nokia Music client again and attempt to download the music content.
If your are using Windows Vista 32/64:

I'm a T-Mobile Germany customer and I can't unlock my SIM card with the PIN number in my iPhone 4S. I can unlock the SIM card just fine in another phone, and it works without problem in my iPhone 4S as long as there's no SIM PIN on the card, but attempting to set a PIN on the card causes the phone to just sit there and wait and wait.
T-Mobile Germany stated that they are working with Apple regarding some kind of SIM PIN related problems (dropped calls, no SMS messages, etc..) on the iPhone 4S, but they state that it's not a T-Mobile problem (other carriers have it too), nor is it a problem with the SIM cards. That means there's a hardware/software fault on the iPhone 4S, and if that's true, then it must affect people outside of Germany.
Is anybody else experiencing SIM PIN related problems with the iPhone 4S? Anybody who doesn't live in Germany/didn't get their phone from Germany?

hello i am using 5.0.1 iphone 4s for about 2 months. Last night i spoke with my friend and the morning my signal looks like 5 bars but i noticed that i couldn’t make a call the phone freezes and i couldn’t unlock my sim card.
i tried t restart my phone 3 times but nothing i changed the sim 2 times and put my original sim back and works but today the same problem.
