Well, no offense, but that's like asking NASA whether there's life on Planet X - you don't know till you've been there. If you provide the specs of the machine we may be able to advise, but everything else is just pointless speculation and a waste of time.

Where is the Apple problem? I have CS4 and CS5 running perfectly fine on my Macbook Pro. Installed 5 after Lion upgrade. Worth every cent. Adobe did have some catching up to do with Lion but with the CS5.5 update all runs fine. But not yours. So it is a problem with the Lion OS? You say you have been with Adobe since 2005. So you would be aware of all the other issues that Adobe had catching up with past Oss in Mac and Windows then. They get it right, but it is up to them. It is not up to Apple, nor Microsoft for that matter, to run around and check that every software developer in the world is running their business properly.
And what has politics got to do with anything. Some people just have to blame Software for their poor Hardware maintainence of failure of the same.

What processor are you using? Which Mac are you installing this on? How much memory do you have installed? You will want to make sure that you meet or exceed each of these requirements.

Install problem when installing Creative Suite 6 Master collection?

Has anybody had this problem when installing Creative suite 6 Master Collection? It says: The product you are trying to install in not an Adobe Genuine Software and appears to be counterfeit. I have received the product directly from Adobe. It will validate it then start to install then stop and give me the above error. Help.

If you are still experiencing difficulties please try copying the install files from the DVD to your desktop and try installing from there. The error still indicates that the installation files have become compromised. If you are installing from the DVD this could indicate either a problem with the media or your optical drive.

I need to buy a larger h/d, but till then I would like to put as many programs as possible on a external usb drive that I have hooked up to my PC. I've been able to do this with some other programs, and would like to try it with my Adobe Reader and Flash. When down loading and installing it does not give me the option to install in a defferent location other then my C: drive. Can this be done? Thanks you?

From the MSI you have to create a MST (Transforms). In the MST create now the new property INSTALLDIR=F:\, where F: is your USB-drive. If you use then the command
msiexec.exe /i [MSI] transforms=[MST]

If you can't do that in Firefox 33, you may want to install Firefox 29 temporarily to do the account change, and then update to Firefox 33. Installing new internal HD-Master/Slave question

Hey gang. So you guys answered my original question of replacing the original hard drive in my G4 AGP Sawtooth. Thanks again! My next question concerns the whole Master/Slave aspect. The 2nd internal drive I put in several years ago is a Maxtor 120 or 160 gig. It was obviously a PATA drive but it's what's running OSX for me.
Does that mean it is the "master" drive? And when I install my new SATA PCI card will I want to run both drives off that? Probably so since it is the Serial kind but will I be able to connect the Maxtor 120gig PATA to the new PCI card? The new internal drive is a Seagate 500gig 7200.11 SATA. Should this be the "master" and then maybe slave the 120gig? I may be wayyy off on my terminology here but just wondering. The new PCI card is only 2-ports so I'm also assuming that I can only run 2 intern drives off of it. (oh, its a Sonnet Tempo 2-port Serial ATA PCI card)

Although I suspect you may get the info you need in this forum from japamac, who has at least one older G4, remember this area is for the later G4 Mirrored Drive Door and FireWire 800 models. Their hard drives are configured differently from yours. The Sawtooth is technically covered within this forum:

Re-install CS4 over CS5 Master Suite

What would you think about the possible effects of putting CS4 back in my system now that I have a clean install of CS5 (from the OS on up, still haven't reloaded everything)? I am still trying to get HDV mpeg clips to preview in Bridge and Windows Media player without success and Premiere still seems sluggish. Getting "file update errors" when I capture new footage.
This is in my dual processor/Quad Core 3.0, 8 gig RAM, Vista Ultimate 64bit, NVidia 5700 (1.5gig) graphics setup. It has worked flawlessly in CS4 before I upgraded to CS5. Previews, workflow, pretty stable (only problems were usually pilot error), overall quite happy.
So, in short, does anyone think that putting CS4 back in might give me back the mpeg CODEC support (external to Premiere - all clips play inside Premiere OK). Don't anyone suggest 3rd party CODEC packages: been there, done that and spent a week doing a clean install from ground up. And, "Yes", all file associations inside Bridge and in Windows have been set up. Latest versions of Quicktime and Windows Media Player.
When I moved to CS5 I also went from Vista 32bit to 64bit. All updates have been installed to that, but could that be where problem lies? My business relies on recycling footage from project to project, mixing and blending from nearly 3TB of storage, so bringing them all into a Premiere project bin to preview is out of the question as you all well know.
Sorry to drag on, but I love Master Suite a lot and would love to make it fly higher than it did in CS4.
So, does it hurt to back-wards-re-install products? (edit: I realize I can't open CS5 projects in CS4, just would hope that CS4 would slip the missing code into my machine to allow HDV mpeg to preview in Bridge)

Did I miss something over the years but don't we need Quicktime installed for video functionality in CS apps and WMP is built into Window OS so how might one "get rid of it"???

Second install questions

I purchased CS3 Design Standard and later upgraded to CS4 Master Collection. Both are installed and running well on my work computer. I will be taking a few weeks of vacation soon and will take my camera and laptop. I would like to install Photoshop on my laptop to edit while I'm away.
Questions:
1. Can I still install Photoshop CS3 as a my second install or will I have to go with CS4?
2. When I return I will be adding a new computer for work. Can I then deactivate the laptop install and then use my second install on my new computer or will that cause a problem with too many activations?
I would prefer to run CS3 on my laptop as it's a couple of years old and I don't need any features from CS4 Extended.
Ultimately what I want to end up with is CS3 and CS4 on my original computer, CS4 on my new computer, and Photoshop CS3 on my laptop.

1. Yes, you can install PS CS3.
2. Yes, you should be able to do so. The number of activations is per product, so you should be fine.

Upgrading to Mountain Lion Pre Install Questions

HI:
I will be installing Mountain Lion Next week.
I have read through many of the turotrials and quired most of the following I still have a few questions.
I have some concerns in particular regarding the contents of my mail boxes and mail.
I have backed up unto an external harddrive using time machine. When I click on the mail app I can't access it and see if the contents are there. I just get a window showing the specs.
From what I have read all my documents applications and system info are backed up.
1} Will the contents of Mail Inbox and personal Mail Boxes be either on the external drive or in Mail itself after I upgrade?
2} Will I need to up grade iWork and other Mac programs after the upgrade?
3} Does time machines automatic backup, back up everything or do I need to do a manual back up for some thing?
4} Will I need to load new drivers for external devices such as my printer and mouse?
5} Will I need to reload third party soft ware such as Adobe Elements 9?
6} Will my bookmarks and homepage be saved in Safari?
Lot's of Questions, I have limited broad band width and will need to do most of this from a friends and internet cafes so I need to be prepared time wise and finanancialy as some things will have to be done at home and are going to push me into the next teir of my flex plan, possibly past the final teir.
Any and all advice will be appreciated.

1. You have a backup of your mailboxes in Time Machine that you can restore, but Mail won't modify your mailboxes during the upgrade. The first time you open Mail after the upgrade, it will upgrade your mailboxes to be able to work with that new version.
2. If you upgrade from Snow Leopard, you should know that there's a newer iWork '09 version for Lion and Mountain Lion that make it compatible with iCloud, so you will have to install updates for iWork at least. Respecting to other apps, you have to consult it with the developer.
3. Time Machine makes a backup of everything in your OS X partition, and it makes automatic, hourly backups. If you want, you can also make a clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or Disk Utility's Restore feature in another external disk. The advantage is that you can start the Mac from it.
4. Theoretically, Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion use the same printer drivers. Respecting to the mouse, if you are using a third-party mouse, you have to consult with the developer if your mouse is compatible with OS X Mountain Lion.
5. Third-party apps won't be deleted unless they aren't compatible. See > http://www.roaringapps.com
After downloading OS X Mountain Lion, I recommend you to make a bootable copy with Lion Diskmaker, so you won't have to download OS X Mountain Lion each time you have to reinstall OS X Mountain Lion

Hello all,
I have been having a problem installing encore cs5 into my Dell xps studio 8100. the machine is literally three days old and aside from the os, there's nothing else installed in it.
I was able to run the installation for CS5 without any issues until it got to encore. everything else installed without an issue but it refuses to install encore. I have installed the same master collection on another machine, a little older than the new dell, and it installed flawlessly. But on the new machine, no dice.

Bootcamp and Windows XP/7 Install Questions

I got an iMac a few months back and want to set up BootCamp for a Windows install.
I have a Windows XP Full install disk w/the product key.
I also have a Windows 7 Upgrade disk.
From what I have read, the newest version of Bootcamp will not install XP, which I could then upgrade to W7 (I assume this is correct).
Can I then install from the Windows 7 Upgrade disk and at some point indicate the XP Product Code?
Secondary question - assuming I get Windows installed and running properly, if I boot to the Mac OS, can it see/access the Windows partition?

If the Windows 7 Upgrade is a full install. What you would do is install, then reinstall over itself. And only then will it activate.
There are upgrades that are to go from Home Premium to Pro and that isn't a full install.
Windows 8 CP is free and works.
Windows 7 System Builder are $99 for Home Premium 64-bit
