Hi,
START_D07_hostname: Start profile
Start profile for instance. for every instance individual start profile.
DEFAULT :Default profile
Only one profile in entire system. This profile parameters are applicable to all the instances in the system.
<SID>_D07_hostname: Instance profile
This profile parameter are applicable for particular instance.
My suggestion is add/change the parameter in default profile which is applicable for all the instances.
Now conclude your self which profile to be modified.

Ganesh

Empty line at the end of SAP Java instance profile
I saw this today in help.sap.com, which says that an Java instance profile must have an empty line at the end of the file, would anyone know what is it for ?
The instance profile (/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<SID>_<instance name>_<hostname>) u2013 this file contains settings that apply to the instance as a whole. For a Java-only installation, the file can be edited with any text editor (beware that the file must have an empty line at the end.);

thank you
Jonu JoyI have heard many "explanations" for this, but never really any solid answers.
From experience, however, I can tell you that the SAP profiles (both ABAP and Java) will miss the last parameter if it is located on the bottom line of the file. I have always put in two or three blank spaces at the bottom of the profiles in order to avoid this. -

Hi all,
After Kernel Upgrade the following error occurs by starting sap :
no instance profile found
Thanks for your help
RegardsHi,
1. Please navigate to the path where your instance profile is located and ensure that instance profile is available physically there.
=> Profile SID_DVEBMGS00_hostname is physically there under /sapmnt/SID/profile. Start and Default profiles are als there.
2. Validate that it has proper permission.
=> Permissions are 644
3. Check the PATH variable of user <sidadm> and ensure that it has entry for the FS location that contails the profile parameter file.
=> Also OK
Thanks

Edited by: victor on Sep 10, 2008 4:30 AMHi Victor,
not all parameters you will find in the instance profile. Some default ones and maintained ones can be seen.if it is not there you can manually add it in t-code rz10.
Have a look at below link

How to change INSTANCE profile parameter?
HI,
How to change INSTANCE PROFILE PARAMETER for permanent???
any step by step or note?
Thanks,Alf,
Its is recommended to do parameter changes through RZ10. Check the parameter in RZ11 and if you see a check mark against DynamicallySwitchable, you dont have to reboot else it requires a reboot. All the changes you made through RZ10 is permanent. You can do it through OS level but its not a good practice. If you do it through RZ10 it is logged.
Thanks

Change the instance profile through RZ10
Hi ,
I chenged the instance profiles through RZ10 .
RZ10>INSTANCE PROFILE>EXTENDED MAINTENANCE>CLICK ON CHHANGE>SELCTED THE PARAMETER NAME>CHANEGE THE PARA METER VALUE>CLICK ON COPY . then i stop the instance and start the insance but changes are not refelected.
Regards,
AsifAsif,
It seems you have missed few steps.
After making chnages & copy in RZ10, you need to click on save. Then system will ask Do you want to activate the profile? Here Click on Yes & it will the update the version of profile.
As told by Joe, check those profile values at OS level & change it again if those are not changed.

Hi,
I am using CE 7.1.Where i can find the WebAS instance profile files?
Thanks& Regards,
SudhirWhen ever you change the parameters (at SAP level), there is version management. Before creating a new version of the parameter file,
the older version of the file is saved in the profile directory with an extension of .BAK
incase, you need to revert back to the old values, then:
1. Save the latest version of the parameter file with a different name
2. Rename the .BAK file to parameter file name
3. Start the SAP system.

Cange instance profile of NW04s Java only
Hi,
is there a tool to edit the instance profile like TA RZ10 (ABAP instance) or has this to be done on file level with texteditor.
Thanks for reply
HaraldHi,
I also don't know where such a tool is. But regarding the igs/listener/http parameter:
there is one HTTP listener defined by default with value http://<host of your system>:4<instance number>80.
You can run:
on Windows:
$(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/igswd.exe -showconfiguration pf=<path to your instance profile>
on Unix:
$(DIR_EXECUTABLE)/igswd_mt -showconfiguration pf=<path to your instance profile>
to see the parameters that are specified for the IGS. This works with IGS 7.00 patch 3 and higher.
Best regards
Matthias

DEFAULT, STARTand INSTANCE Profile
Hi everybody
What are the differences between START INSTANCE AND DEFAULT Profiles.
What are the jobs these profiles are doing?
plz in detail
Regards,
SivaHi Siva,
Start Profile
When you start an SAP instance on a host, the start profile defines which SAP services are started (message server, dialog, gateway or enqueue process.
Default Profile
If you want to assign the same parameter value for all application servers (such as the name of the database host, or the host on which the message server is running), enter it in the default profile. In general, you can list any parameter you like here.
Instance Profile
Instance profiles provide an application server with additional configuration parameters to complement the settings values from the default profile. Typically, these parameter settings adapt the instance according to the desired resources. They also define the available instance resources (main memory, shared memory, roll memory and so on), and how to allocate memory to the SAP application buffers.
