Iphone 4 hard reset atleast 2 times a day

Ever since i got my iphone 4 32g i have had to do a hard reset atleast 2 times a day. Out of the blue it shuts down and doesnt turn back on unless i hold the two buttons for about 30 seconds. I restored it to factory like they asked and still it does it. Also if im listening to music and the phone rings it wont let me swipe to answer. Anyone else experience this.

If it still does this after a restore as new with only the default apps on it, then I would return it and get it replaced under warranty. There is no other troubleshooting you can do.

Maybe they can help if the situation is properly explained, because the time that I went, they said they couldn't do anything and that I should restore at home, when I already had. I will tell you, restartiong won't work.

I've seen several posts on this -- oddly, some of them are archived even though there has been no resolution...
Would love to hear people's experiences and especially if you have a fix. Would REALLY love it if Apple would get off their duff and give us a working O/S.
Ever since upgrading to Leopard I've been having problems with system stability and, specifically, with lockups. Usually this starts out with a few applications get "hung" (beach ball). Again, usually, I can force quit them, restart and continue for at least a little while... but, it always marks the beginning of a downward spiral. The final straw seems to be when Finder locks up. Once Finder locks, the system becomes unresponsive overall and I can't shut down without doing a hard reset (either cmd-opt-power or, more often, just hold power until a get a hard reboot).
Some of the behaviors I'm seeing:
Apps start to lockup. Best option at this point is to quickly shut everything down and restart. On occasion I get a software restart if I'm prompt about it.
Finder locks up... forget it. Hardware restart is in my future... will generally try to save work, but it seems that anything involving disk / file system access is completely frozen.
About one out of two times, the login screen is very slow to appear (about a 2 minute boot), and then it fails to respond to my wireless keyboard &/or mouse. Sometimes the mouse works, keyboard doesn't. If I wait for 1-2 minutes, it will usually "wake up" and suddenly gets all of the input in one blast... but usually I lose patience, open up the laptop, do another hard reset.
Sometimes the screen saver won't release control of the machine (much like login screen). I can move the mouse, tap keys, etc., screen saver just keeps right on running blithely along...
On rare occasion, even the force quit panel (cmd-opt-escape) refuses to appear.
Of late, I've taken to launching Terminal on login so that it's available (because after the lockups start, I won't be able to launch it). Then, I can issue a "shutdown -r now" which, most of the time, seems to work pretty well. I hate doing a hard reset, always worried it will lead to a damaged file structure or lost work.
I've tried a number of fixed, including (at the height of it) reinstalling 10.7.2, which I did a few days ago. It made no difference at all... Also tried resetting NVRAM, etc. About the only folklore I haven't tried yet is switching to Chrome or Firefox. A lot of people are blaming Safari for all of this, so perhaps I'll try that next...
I'm suspecting that Time Machine is making the situation worse, but turning it off (and disconnecting the drive) does NOT solve the problem. It seems to go a little longer in-between system lockups. Same symptoms... apps become unresponsive, one after the other starts to beach ball, eventually the whole system locks up... I'm wondering if it has something to do with disk access, as posted in other threads. I've been trying to minimize disk access wherever possible, for one, just plugging in my Time Machine drive about once a day, let it backup, then unplug. Not really sure if it's helping or not though.
Currently, I'm running into this on average 3 times daily (worst day was 6 times, best day was just once, yay...) Yes I've been keeping track. By my count I'm also losing up to two hours a day, because the shutdown / reboot process is so baby-sitting intensive (and I have to do it several times a day).
Very, very frustrating. This is definitely the worst O/S release Apple has ever put out there. I'd like to go back to Leopard, but worried about the downgrade... arrrgggh. (Wish Mr. Jobs was still around, somehow I think he would never have tolerated this...)

Time Machine three times over the last 1 1/2 years (OS 10.5 once and Lion twice) has complained that its HD is full when it is only ~1/2 full. Software Update repeatedly tells me that a certain update is available but I already have installed it.
For those silly enough to install a new OS within a year of its introduction (not me: my iMac came with the wretched thing in it), some bugs can be expected, but not this many (at least in my opinion). All previous updates going back to 1997 have gone much more smoothly than Lion on my machines.
Although I am in a minority (given the huge number of sales of Lion – although MacWorld reports that sales of Lion are faltering), I am sorry to say that I have fallen out of love with Apple. I would gladly trade the elegance and the fancy features for a bit of “Works out of the box”, “It just works”, “Computing for the rest of us”.

IPhone Passcode + Hard Reset

Well I think I've found the answer to part of my question using search, but I wanted to double check with the brilliant minds of this board.
I recently had my Iphone 3G stolen...very traumatic!
I have an original first gen Iphone that I'd like to use while I dig up the cash to buy a 3GS. But the problem is I cant for the life of me remember my passcode on that phone.
1. Can I put the phone into recovery mode by holding both buttons and simply lett it hard reset / wipe everything clean ? (Which is fine, cant imagine i would need anything off my 2 year old phone)
And 2. Can I sync a first gen with my current iTunes and restore everything even though iTunes was currently setup syncing to a 3g ?

It didnt work!! I even used the recovery to restore it and it says "cannot complete" because I dont have my passcode ? Any other ideas ?

My iphone 4 just shut off on its own and i tried a hard reset then i plugged it in to a mac tried doing a hard reset and an apple logo came up for about 3 seconds and then it died again. I had over 50% battery charge left. Is there something else i should try?

Phone really slow and needing hard reset all the time now.

I recently updated my Droid Razr Maxx HD to the latest OTA. Since then it has become very slow and unstable. Every two or three days I will have to perform a hard reset. Going to the apps page is fine sometimes then other times it takes forever to load. Has anyone else had problems like this and if so have you been able to fix it?

Update are meant to improve your device gabriellundy! I know how frustrating it must be to have to complete a hard reset on your phone multiple times. Have you tried running your phone on safe mode with out any applications? I would recommend to try this to determine if a third party app is causing issues to your device. HT4623 Dead iphone 5s-hard reset doesnt work. Now what?

We just got my daughter an iphone 5s. we went to update it last night and it turned off and wont turn back on. Screen is black, hard reset doesnt work, and it doesnt register on the phone to be plugged in/wont charge. Only had it about a week. Hasn't been dropped, or gotten wet. Im guessing we need a whole new phone? I hope not but..

Hard lock ups multiple times a day - How can I troubleshoot?

My machine locks up hard multiple times a day. If I happen to be sitting in front of it, I observe that the image on the monitors stops changing. Mouse and keyboard will not work at all (including Magic key SysRq sequences). I cannot ping the box from another machine. The system has not made it to 24 hours of uptime for some weeks.
I am beginning to suspect that this may be an issue with the NVIDIA driver, but that's only a guess since it's the only thing I've seen before that can lock up a machine hard like this. I have checked journalctl and the Xorg logs, but don't see anything telling.
What should be my next steps toward solving this issue?

When it locks up, do any indicators on the keyboard blink? That would be an indication of a kernel panic.
If there are no blinking lights, does it unlock eventually?
Has the machine ever been stable?
Have you tried installing a RAM test in your boot loader and running it?
Next, I would start blacklisting any kernel module you don't absolutely need to see if you can isolate it that way.

But I don't see it being updated. That might be normal for your processor, but double check that and ensure you have the microcode update stuff installed in the boot loader correctly.

okay, I am frustrated to no end. I have called tech support and they tell me it is my ISP. I call my ISP and they tell me it is my router...
I have my wrt54g hooked up to my 1.5/758k dsl. I can connect my dsl modem directly to one PC and it works beautifully. When I place the router in use and start using both my computers, I enter a world of frustration and anger.
Here are some more deatils:
My connection: Static IP, pppoe, 1.5(down), 768 (up)
my network: 2 computers, one wired, one wireless (laptop), ssid broadcast disabled, 128bit encryption.
problems: constantly lose connection, sometimes reset works, sometimes I have to do a hard reset (reset button) and re-configure router. I have tried disabling wireless and ran a cable to my laptop but the problem still exists. Tech support suggested one of my computers had a virus... I ran scans on both computers with AVG (no virus) also ran spybot, spysweeper, adaware, pestpatrol, avg-as + trendmicro (NOTHING FOUND!!!)
I tried to take this heap of worthless plastic back to bestbuy but I did not have the box or receipt and they could not look up my past purchase made on a gift card (!!!!!!)

Are you using any peer-to-peer (P2P) software? This is known to cause router slow downs and disconnections. Go into the P2P software and reduce the number of connections that the software can make.
You need to do a few tests on your system, to try to isolate your problem:
1) Turn off the laptop. If you have the laptop wired to your router, disconnect this wire. Wire only your wired computer to the router --- does this give you a properly working Internet connection, without disconnections?
2) Turn off your wired computer, and disconnect the ethernet wire that connects it to the router. Next, wire only the laptop to the router -- does this give you a properly working Internet connection, without disconnections?
3) Disconnect the ethernet wire from the laptop. Next connect your laptop wirelessly to the router. Does this give you a properly working Internet connection, without disconnections?
Are you using any fixed LAN IP addresses on your system? If so, list the addresses that you are using, and also state your DHCP server range.
Also, state your ISP and the make and model of your modem.
Also, has your router ever worked correctly, or is this a new setup?

WRT150N v1.1 needs to be reset 2 - 3 times a day

Router stops working (both wired and wireless) but the front panel lights give no indication of a problem. I have to unplug power to my router to reset it a couple times a day. Any ideas?

try upgrading / reflashing the router's firmware ... after the upgrade , reset and reconfigure the router .. check whether it helps ..

You're not alone. I am having similar problems with my Ipod 5th gen 30gb.
When I connect it to my laptop (Vista - basic) it is not recognised by itunes. Itunes simply locks up.
So far I have tried the following to no avail:
Checked my pc's device manager - it recognises the device and says it is functioning properly.
Checked the drivers to make sure they are upt to date.
Uninstalled & reinstalled a previous version of itunes (as it worked fine before the latest release).
Reinstalled the latest itunes.
Reset the ipod.
Put the ipod into disk mode and reconnected to itunes.
Have tried to use the windows tool to scan and fix any bad sectors but it fails to complete a scan without locking that up as well.
Placed into disk mode when fully charged and then allowed the battery to drain completely. Then reconnected ipod (in disk mode)and it still is not recognised and locks up itunes.
At this point I dont really want to part with another $300 odd dollars for a new one.

Clean iPhone charging port with a clean dry toothbrush. Try different good USB Cable. If still problem, all iPhone 4S have full Warranty, make Genius appointment and take iPhone to Apple for resolution of problem.
