Wrt54g needs reset 2-3 times a day. (version 8)

okay, I am frustrated to no end. I have called tech support and they tell me it is my ISP. I call my ISP and they tell me it is my router...
I have my wrt54g hooked up to my 1.5/758k dsl. I can connect my dsl modem directly to one PC and it works beautifully. When I place the router in use and start using both my computers, I enter a world of frustration and anger.
Here are some more deatils:
My connection: Static IP, pppoe, 1.5(down), 768 (up)
my network: 2 computers, one wired, one wireless (laptop), ssid broadcast disabled, 128bit encryption.
problems: constantly lose connection, sometimes reset works, sometimes I have to do a hard reset (reset button) and re-configure router. I have tried disabling wireless and ran a cable to my laptop but the problem still exists. Tech support suggested one of my computers had a virus... I ran scans on both computers with AVG (no virus) also ran spybot, spysweeper, adaware, pestpatrol, avg-as + trendmicro (NOTHING FOUND!!!)
I tried to take this heap of worthless plastic back to bestbuy but I did not have the box or receipt and they could not look up my past purchase made on a gift card (!!!!!!)
someone please help before I take extreme measures and smash this router with a sledge hammer!!!!

Are you using any peer-to-peer (P2P) software?  This is known to cause router slow downs and disconnections.  Go into the P2P software and reduce the number of connections that the software can make.
You need to do a few tests on your system, to try to isolate your problem:
1)  Turn off the laptop.  If you have the laptop wired to your router, disconnect this wire.  Wire only your wired computer to the router  ---  does this give you a properly working Internet connection, without disconnections?
2)  Turn off your wired computer, and disconnect the ethernet wire that connects it to the router.  Next, wire only the laptop to the router  --  does this give you a properly working Internet connection, without disconnections?
3)  Disconnect the ethernet wire from the laptop.   Next connect your laptop wirelessly to the router.  Does this give you a properly working Internet connection, without disconnections?
Are you using any fixed LAN IP addresses on your system?  If so, list the addresses that you are using, and also state your DHCP server range.
Also, state your ISP and the make and model of your modem.
Also, has your router ever worked correctly, or is this a new setup?

    If it still does this after a restore as new with only the default apps on it, then I would return it and get it replaced under warranty. There is no other troubleshooting you can do.

    try upgrading / reflashing the router's firmware ... after the upgrade , reset and reconfigure the router .. check whether it helps ..

  • IPhone 4S battery draining too fast...Need to charge 3 times a day

    Finally after 4 years I was very excited to get an iPhone that has all the features I wanted…but I am disappointed so far.
    I purchased an iPhone 4S 32GB on 10/7 and has not been impressed with the battery life. I have to charge my iPhone at least 3 times a day. I go to work at 8 AM and by 11:30 AM the battery is at 20 %, so I charge it again which takes only about 60 to 120 minutes to charge, and by 5:30 PM I have to start charging again…the third charge has start around 11:30 PM and I have to keep the phone plugged overnight otherwise it will be dead by 6 AM.
    I have read other posts on the web and people have suggested turning notifications, location services…etc which I went ahead and did but that did not change the battery issue. What is the purpose of having the iPhone 4S if all the features have to be turned off.
    I always try to kill apps that running in background but still no fix to battery issue.
    on 10/19/11 I went to Apple store and exchanged the phone with new one. The apple rep activated the phone for me and the charge was at 78 %. I left the store and 10 minutes later I was at my house, but again I was surprised to see the battery has drooped to 65 % within 10 minutes. While I was driving home I did not touch the phone or make/receive calls.
    When I got home I plugged the phone and when it was charge at 100 % I unplugged it and 40 minutes later the battery dropped to 70 %.
    Today I unplugged my iPhone 4s at 8:20 this morning with 100% and by 10:43 AM I am down to 63%. By 11:13 AM the battery was at 54% and by 11:46 AM the battery was down to 44% with me not touching it. I have turned everything off such notifications, locations services...etc and nothing in the background is working and I only used it for a 10 minute conversation.
    It seemed that a lot of users are have similar issue. Not sure if the issue related to iOS 5, iPhone or bad batch of iPhone or iPhone batteries.
    Before getting the iPhone 4S i had a 3GS from a family member that i had to charge at least 3 times a day. The only reason I got the new 4S is to not have to deal with frequent charge. I think I am 90 % close to returning the phone back to Apple and wait few months before attempting to purchase another phone.

    What made the trick for me was to drain the phone completely - until it dies. (It took quite a while to go from 3% to 0...). Then, charge it overnight.
    Previous days I would start charging it with the battery at 10-15%, on red. Also for the last week I've been trying disabling functions, with the hope of finding what was the "offending" piece but without much success. Still was loosing about 10% per hour, just by using it to check emails, maps, and sometimes a call.
    Today is almost two hours since I left home, with everything turned on again, used mail, maps with traffic during the ride to work, some browsing - using it "normally" - and the battery is still at 95%.
    That looks more like normal to me.!!
    Might try to drain it to 0% again as many other suggested, but if it is a battery charger "calibration", it shouldn't be necesary to do it more than once.

    Well i wont suggest you to follow it blindly. Just try locating hardware version number one more time carefully.
    When you go to www.linksys.com/download and type model number of router. And go to the downloads for your router.
    It will show you how to locate version number of your router.
    Once you get it, then you can check the latest firmware and update it.

  • Must reset modem multiple times a day.

    This is a problem I noticed other people in my area are having. I must reset my D-LINK 2750B modem at least 10-15 day in order to regain connection to the internet. What is the issue? Should I return this modem for a replacement? I have tried other suggestions posted in this forum. It is an annoyance and not worth the amount paid for the service. Thank you.

    I am sure you've heard this before. I too called several times on the same issue. The tec says I'm to far from post. The line quality sucks. I'm with you . Why are we paying for  this if the dang thing doesn't work most of the time.  Please there must be something to be done to fix the issue.....

    My cloud is not up to date with what syncing and backup should be done by iTunes.  I have gotten a ton of contacts since my last backup to iCloud apparently as two of the people I contact the most are not even in my cloud countacts.

  • Blackberry 9810 keeps resetting itself several times a day

    The screen seemingly randomly turns off and take a couple of minutes to reset itself. Usually it happens after dialing or opening the slider. I have tried all of the resets including Safe Mode and the only thing that I can see to try is to Clean Install the Blackberry OS. I have started and Blackberry does not have a Fido for this model as Fido does not provide one. It was originally a Telus phone.     There is no requirement to use any specific carriers OS package. The only requirement is to use an OS package that is for your specific model BB, but if the OS comes from a carrier other than that for which your BB was originally manufactured, there is a necessary "trick".

  • D-LINK/ Power reset multiple times a day

    I have seen multiple threads with this issue.  I called in roughly 6 months ago, and found out that I was on the 3.5-7 MBPS and it was way too fast for our area, everything kept timing out so we moved down to 1.1-3 MBPS.  Well, that still hasn't stopped any of the loss of connectivity issues.  I still have to reset it multiple times a day.  Once it's up and running our speeds are some what efficient.  I just called today (1/4/14), and the service tech was saying that it might be the modem, but since it's not acting up she can't tell what the problem might be (Big Help!).  Then I asked since she thinks it could be the gateway/router if we could get a new one and see if that might be the problem.  Pretty much just asking if we can start somewhere so we can eliminate some of the possible problems.  She told me that I would have to buy a new one for $39.99.  
    Is there anybody who might be able to help me with this, or has had to deal with this in the past? What were your solutions to fix the issue?

    To ensure you know when they have responded to you, at the top of your support case there is a drop down menu for support case options. Open that and choose "subscribe".This should be checked on a frequent basis as the agent may be waiting for information from you before they can proceed with any actions.   • Airport Express needs resetting to give AppleTV an IP address (via Ethernet)

    So my Apple TV (3rd gen) is connected via ethernet to my Airport Express, but the Airport Express needs resetting all the time for my Apple Tv to get an IP.
    How do I get them to be friends forever without resetting the AE? When the AppleTv gets restarted, it still wont get an IP so I suspect the AE is the bad boy here. 
    Any idea's?

    Has this always happened with the Express or just starting happening recently? If just recently, where there any changes to either the Express' firmware or to the cable modem? What is the make & model of the modem?

    My problem started after the itunes update.i  reset the apple tv.Now I cannot sign to itunes and i cannot reset the network time and day.

    Assuming this is not the first time you have used your Apple TV
    You might try restarting the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Also try restarting the router.
    If the problem persists, try a restore, you may want to try the previous procedures several times before doing this.
    If this is a new Apple TV, it may also be that your network router is not allowing access to the timeserver, check that your router allows access over port 123.

  • Why do I need to reset my Airport Express multiple times a day?

    I purchased an Airport Express (AE) in 2008.  Ocassionaly since I've owned the device, I've had a problem connecting to it via iPod touch, iPhone, Macbook Pro, Macbook, etc.  I would see the AE in my wifi router list, I just couldn't connect to it.  I simple reboot always seemed to fix the problem.  As time has passed, I found myself having to reboot it more and more often.  Within the past few months, it seems to be a daily occurance.  Within the past couple weeks, I've had to reboot it multiple times a day.  I have also performed a facory reset via the button and via airport utility - neither seem to affect the issue.
    I like the AE for the simple fact that it has AirTunes abilities, this is quite frankly the only reason I have it.  I would like to replace it, but I fear another unit would have similar issues.
    Is anyone else having these same problems on a 2+ year old AirPort Express?  if so, is there a fix action?  thanks.

    Well, It has been a few months since I posted about the same problem here. About 3-4 times a day (almost always when I am online), I lose my internet connection in the entire house. All I have to do is unplug the modem, wait 15 seconds, plug it back in, and everything is fine. A few hours later, rinse and repeat. I have called Verizon several times about this issue. The last time, I wasted about 2 hours of my evening. One of the "customer service" reps had me repeat all of the test that I had already done myself, only to arrive at the same result. She transferred me to "tech support", and I spent an hour on the phone with someone else, repeating the same tests over again. Guess what - same result. I was told that a Supervisor would call me within 2 hours. Clearly, this was just to get me off the phone, because nobody called. Now, here we are, 5 months later, and the same modem, same problem. No way I am wasting another 2 or 3 hours repeating the same steps all over again, I will just end up going off on some rep who really doesn't belong in that position. I just thought I would post another example of the "fine" customer support we have all come to expect from Verizon. I will now go on eBay, to see if I can find another Verizon modem for sale, because Verizon won't even let me purchase a better modem. Good luck with your concerns, I hope you have better luck than I did.

    Not sure if you will see this, but it's somewhat refreshing to see that others are having similar issues and that it's not just me. My Dlink 2750B needs a reboot every couple days so I guess I should count my blessings...
    I spent about 45 minutes on the phone with support doing the same tests as have been done multiple times on my line, (no issues found) and finally convinced them that I was having a modem issue, not a DSL issue.
    My modem would keep the internet light on solid green even if I unplugged the DSL line. all my devices would be locked out (no connection) and when attempting to connect, the device would bounce between "authenticating" and "obtaining IP" until it finally failed.
    Received a new Actiontec from verizon (free) to replace the Dlink. This morning, sure as can be, the modem locked us out.
    As I stood in front of it thinking "yay.... this crap again" ready to install the Actiontec, it rebooted on it's own. Connections are good, speed is good.... ~sigh~
    I would like to know what you mean by "signal is better" with the Actiontec. Do you mean more range or faster speeds when comparing to the 2750?

    Bad or incompatible RAM is, more often then not, the cause of most Kernel Panics. It could also just need to be reset.
    Here's the most used site for Resolving Kernel Panics. Please do all the steps in order, even if you don't think you need to do a certain step.

  • Question about reseting the time of day trigger.

    A little while back the college was running a promotion and at the last minuet they decided to stay open later then normal to server the needs of our students.  I reset the time of dayclosing time with the CCX editor and ga 6 the phone shut down when I had change it to 7:00.  I then rebooted our contact center servers so that the new close time would be active but in rebooting the 2 servers all the callers in queue were dropped.  Is there a way to change  the time of day trigger and rest it with out rebooting the servers?

    When you edit the UCCX scripts \ prompts \grammers \ applications, please refresh these pages from the UCCX Admin-> Application path.
    Yes, as the UCCX high Availability works in "Warm standby" modes it is expected that the calls in Queue will be dropped, where as the connected calls will continue at the cost of missing Call details.
