IPhone 5 in Europe?

My iPhone 5 is unlocked through Verizon. I am traveling to Europe (UK, France, and Germany) from June 4-14. I would love to use my phone in all these countries. Is there a compnay or some sort of way to get a data usage plan to use in all these countries?
I also understand using wifi as much as possible but i am trying to beat Verizon's $25/100mb international rate.
I would like to see maybe 1gb for a month? something like that? I have no idea where to look and I have searched online for help and nothing seems to help me.
thank you!

Perhaps Verizon could help direct you where to look.

Can I use my iPhone in Europe?

Indeed you can. Beware of data roaming, charges, however, where you are charged through the nose for a data connection abroad. Your phone company may sell overseas data plans, or you may consider getting a SIM card for one of the providers of the country you're visiting.
You can turn off data roaming in Settings --> General --> Network --> Turn Data Roaming to 'off'.

Can I use my iPhone in Europe and will it work as a hotspot for my iPad?

It didn't work for me during my February 2013 visit to Switzerland. The Personal Hotspot feature on my iPhone 4S works fine when I am in the US. Upon arrival in Switzerland, my phone connected to the Swisscom network. Phone calls, SMS, Web, and E-mail worked fine on the iPhone. Funny is the Personal Hotspot feature completely disappeared from the settings menu while there. It reappeared once I was back in the US.

  • Need power adapter from an iPhone 5 Europe to charge in canada?

Please, Need power adapter from an iPhone 5 Europe to charge it in canada?

You just need to get an adapter for the plug pins
No need for a voltage adapter, just look for 120/240 50/60Hz on the label and if you do see it you're set for North American power.

  • Iphone in europe

I want to travel with my iphone in Europe using only ipod and wifi features. I do not want to receive any bills from ATT for phone useage or data, what is the best way to prevent this other than not making phone calls. thank you joanlvh

Enable Airplane mode on your iPhone while there.
Beginning with firmware update 2.0, you are able to turn on wi-fi access only with Airplane mode enabled.

  • Charging my iphone in europe

    Hi all
Does anybody know if I need  a 110/220 converter to charge my iphone in europe or just need the plug adapter

You'll only need the plug adaptor.  The charger is 100-240 V, 50/60 Hz.

Traded homes and iPhones in Europe now and this an old iPhone 4.2.1 unable to get my mail from mail or sign into icloud on the Internet in safari on this iPhone

You need an device (iPhone, iPad, iPod touch) with iOS 5 if you want to use iCloud. Furthermore it is also not possible to open www.icloud.com with Safari on an iOS device.
But if you want to set up Mail on your device with iOS 4 then you can do it manually. Therefor follow these instructions for devices with iOS 4: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5330

If you are using the Apple supplied iPhone charger, you will simply need a plug adapter(s) for the AC power system in Europe

  • Will I be able to use my iPhone in Europe?

I'm going to Europe (germany and bosnia) in a few days. I currently have the iPhone 4 with the data plan and blah blah and I was wondering if I could use my camera, go on twitter, facebook, instagram if i'm connected to a wifi network and not get charged extra money? I wouldn't call or text anyone just use twitter facebook, and my camera. Would I get charged extra money?

Try this. Turn on airplane mode. Once that is active, try to turn on wifi and connect to your home wifi or a public wifi hotspot.
If you can do that here, you can do that process in Europe. With airplane mode all the the radios are turned off and you won't be charged roaming.

  • Question about using the iPhone in Europe without making calls.

I wanted to know if I could use my iPhone on a trip to Europe. I don't plan to use the phone to make any kind of calls, just to check and send e-mail and maybe use a messenger to communicate.
Would I be charged in anyway? What steps could I take to avoid any.
    Thank you.

Regarding calls when roaming internationally, the following was copied from this link.
    http://www.wireless.att.com/learn/international/roaming/faq.jsp
    When your device is on:
Calls that you do not answer that are routed to the AT&T voicemail system will be charged as an international roaming incoming call to your device.
In addition, the foreign carrier's routing of that call to the AT&T voicemail system may generate an outgoing call charge from your device's location to the U.S.
These charges apply even if the caller disconnects from the voicemail system without leaving a message.

  • IPhone and Europe

Does anybody know if I can when I am in Europe, Get a sim card there and put it in my iPhone and use it? I know in Europe you can buy sim cards that have minutes on them.
    Thanks

It is only possible with a jailbroken phone (which you shouldn't do because it will break ur agreement with apple) and a officially unlocked phone.
If u have an unlocked phone you could use a provider such as 02 and get a prepaid sim.

  • Using iphone in europe

Can I use my Iphone camera in europe without incurring roaming charges?

Sure! just to be safe, keep the phone on airplane mode and snap as many pictures as you want. That will keep you from connecting to any networks, and also prolong your battery life.

  • IPhone in Europe/roaming/wifi

So as mentioned in an earlier post, I will be in Europe as of the end of this month for a three month + visit. If I actually needed an excuse to do so one of the main reasons for buying an iPhone was to use it over there, ( UK and France ), during that time. So I know from other posts that the iPhone does work in Europe but I thought I'd post a question again to see if there's any wrinkle/problems / or advice that I should pay attention to from other users recent experiences with using the 'phone. For instance is it better to rely on finding WiFi hotspots to retrieve and send email and is it easy to hook into open WiFi spots. Which services in the UK and France seem to work with iPhone/AT&T? Orange, Wanadoo?
I do have AT&T's international roaming plan, used it before with my Razr, presumably it'll work fine with the iPhone too, but because of the expense of using it I'd like to rely mostly on WiFi for email.
    Thanks for any feedback.....Peter

Thanks for the responses to my question. But it has occurred to me that while you can turn off the WiFi connection option on the iPhone you cannot turn off the wireless network, the phone carrier's, send/receive option. So the iPhone will pull in whatever data is addressed to you regardless of whether you want it to or not. The only control over this would be turning the iPhone off unless you're in a known WiFi hotspot. This means that there's probably no way to escape the high charges/fees especially if you receive a lot of emails. I will not for instance expect to surf the web too much on the iPhone over there, but emails will come and go as per normal use here.
I don't text message at all, but will be relying on the iPhone for emails quite a lot when I am in Europe and away from my desktop Mac at my place there.
What by the way is : "....the 20 MB/month only if you sign up for a iPhone global data supplemental plan"....I've never heard of this yet? I have International Roaming, but this other plan I have not heard about.
Tried talking a couple of times to AT&T "customer support" by calling in and at their stores on all of this but they're all as dumb as a bag of hammers on most iPhone issues and questions. Just making it up as they go along and hoping that you'll go away.
I hope to be on broadband WiFi at my house a couple of weeks after arriving in France, so I will gladly update this discussion group at that time with my experiences.
    Thanks again, very useful responses.....Peter

  • Iphone 5 north American iphone in europe help!

Hi, so I have an iphone 5 and I bought it in Canada two weeks before coming to Europe,  I'm only here for two weeks but when I turned one my phone in Amsterdam "activation required" on the lock screen then wont let me do anything on the phone, see I've read that iphones made in the US don't seem to work in Europe I'm just worried that if I go back it will do the same. Will it just go back to normal when I go back, or do I have to go in and get it fixed ??

Not doing anything with Windows, I am afraid that I will have to bail out on your thread now.
