IPhone syncing and merging

I recently upgraded to iTunes 9 and the iTunes on my Macbook no longer recognizes the iPhone. I would like to replace the music on the iPhone, but I need to be able to transfer my purchased Apps that are on the iPhone to iTunes. I also need to keep my notes, contacts, and calendar that are on my iPhone and not on iTunes. It would also be nice to keep my text messages. I'm currently backing up the iPhone as it is now without syncing it, and I know I can merge the calendar dates (or at least I could on an older iTunes version) but what do I do about the rest?

The restore did not allow iTunes to recognize it considering it restored it to a point where iTunes did not recognize it. I do not have a very recent backup of the iPhone. Even if I had a back up from a day ago it would still not recognize the phone because iTunes 9 deleted my entire library and I had to reload everything, making it seem like it was a different library. If Apple would just allow Authorized Computers to MERGE data with the authorized iPhone, then I wouldn't be in the predicament. Oh, and I wouldn't even have to do that if Apple had properly tested the update before sending it out. There is always something Apple manages to screw up in its updates.

Sync and merge clips, proper ways and tips please

Im working on a indie feature and need help with sync and merging clips. So far from my trials Premiere doesn't really sync that well based on audio (plus it doesn't seem to sync more then one set of clips at a time), luckily I have Pluraleyes that syncs in a breeze so that's what I'm using. So, my questions:
1) How do I merge more then one set of clips simultaneously. Look at my timeline. This is from only 3 days of shooting (and we've shoot for 33 days). It will take me forever to merge these...
2) How do I merge clips so they end up in a specific bin in the project panel. Now when I do it the new merged clip ends up at root which is manageable but annoying.
Can someone confirm if this is actually how you work, very laborious or am I missing something?

Two separate iPhones syncing and backing up to one centralized iTunes library?

Hi all,
My wife and I have two iPhone 5s' and am wondering if we can sync and back these two separte iPhones to one iTunes library? The library is located on a NAS drive on a share just labeled Music.
Ideally I would like to keep the two backups and syncs separately but have the ability to load playlists and albums from the centralized iTunes and iPhoto library.
Can this be done?

As long as the phones have different names you can set different sync settings for them in iTunes. However, if they have the same Apple ID for iCloud any iCloud content (mail, calendar, contacts, notes, reminders) will be duplicated. The way to deal with this is to have different iCloud accounts on each device, but use the same Apple ID for the iTunes & App Stores. This way you can share music and apps.

Iphone syncing and drag-and-drop hang

Two problems:
1. When syncing my iPhone 4s (IOS 7.0.3, Macbook Pro Mavericks OS X 10.9), it hangs on the last step "waiting for changes to be applied".
2. Immediately after reinstallation of IOS 7.0.3, I can drag and drop music onto my iPhone from the iTunes library, but after a while the drag and drop fails. When this happens, the only way to get music onto the iPhone is by downloading it from the cloud - which is very expensive for me.
I had no problems with Mountain Lion and with the previous iPhone software. I have had this problem only since installing Mavericks and IOS 7 - which I did at the same time.
Come on Apple! If I want to deal with Microsoft problems, I would install Microsoft! I don't expect this kind of hassle with Apple!

Music purchased on your iPhone should be transferred to your iTunes library during the sync process with iTunes. Have you checked your iTunes music library for this music? In addition under Store in the iTunes source list, a store playlist should have been created named - Purchased On - the name of your iPhone. Was this not created?
BTW - movies/video cannot be purchased with an iPhone.
What are your settings for syncing music under the Music tab for your iPhone sync preferences? If you select to transfer more content than your iPhone can store, you should be provided an error message indicating the selected content cannot be stored and I believe a prompt such as do you want iTunes to make a random selection of what will be transferred.

Iphone sync and 300 lost address book contacts

Help. I'm sick about this. Everything has been going fine with my iphone until tonight. After I synced tonight, all 300 of my address book contacts disappeared on my phone AND on my computer. Even my backup hard drive doesn't show any contact information, only an address book icon which has no information when opened. Apple iphone tech support was unable to help me. Please I'm not going to be able to sleep tonight because of this. Can anyone out there help me get my contact information back?

The Backup application they are referring to is the Backup application that comes with .Mac.
It does incremental backups. It doesn't replace the previous days backup. You can go to your backup location, and choose the day you want to restore from.
There is even a preconfigured plan for personal data and settings daily to iDisk that backs up iCal, Address Book, etc.
I would also recomend going into iSync's preferences and setting it to prompt you if more than 5% of your contacts or data will be changed. This is the default for iSync, but can be changed to not warn, or only warn when 25%, 50%, etc will be changed. If it is on the default you will get a message if information will be lost.
Also in some situations, reseting sync history before another sync, and then syncing again, may bring back some of the contacts.

No. You must use a computer to sync and update both devices via iTunes on the computer. The iPad2 cannot replace the laptop for syncing purposes.

My iphone synced and on the bar( that shows the gigs) says i have all my music in my phone but when i look at my phone none of my music is there...

I had a bunch of CD's i put in on my itunes and wanted to put it in my phone but it didn't work and swiped all my music previously that has been on my phone. This can happen if iTunes gets confused about what is and isn't on the device. These steps should resolve.
Backup the device.
Restore as a new device.
Restore the backup made earlier.

HT1386 Why does iphone sync not merge data?

Data from iCal goes from Mac to iPhone but not the other way. This is a new phenomenon as it has always worked in the past, so I am certain that I set it up to merge originally, but I don't know how to check that it hasn't been reset somehow nor how to correct it. Help welcome before I have to start entering stuff manually twice.

Then you may have to reset your sync services folder as discussed here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1627. (Although this article refers to MobileMe, it also applys to syncing devices such as you phone.). This erases your sync history (but not your data), and your mac will see your next sync as your first ever so you should get a merge or replace prompt for calendars and contacts when you sync. Be careful about selecting merge or you may get duplicates. Also, you will have to reset your iTunes sync settings as discussed at the bottom of this guide. Finally, prior to connecting your phone, open iTunes and go to Preferences>Devices and check "Prevent...from syncing automatically" so that you can connect your phone and reset your sync settings prior to syncing your phone.

Entourage 2008 should work essentially the same as 2004. First of all, make sure you have all Microsoft Office updates installed. Updating iTunes to the most recent version is also recommended.
You may also want to backup your Entourage, Address Book and iCal data before proceeding.
At this time, iTunes only supports syncing contacts and calendar events with Entourage.
Information for setting up Entourage to sync with Address Book and iCal (which then sync the information with iTunes) can be found here:

Powerbook G4 and iphone sync and ical not updating

my ical does not update it's info when syncing with my iphone. I've selected that option for the calendar under info. also when entering new events in ical and then exiting then reopening the ical application the newly created event is not there? I've received all my mac updates. I've reloaded the os 10.5.8 software and still no resolution.

iPhone 3GS I think only supports Leopard and up.. Tiger I don't think will work.

Understanding grouped contact syncing and merging

New to iPads here. I have a personal Gmail account for my friends and family that syncs to my ipad.
Now I have a second Gmail account for a volunteer organization with all the members. What I would like is a way to keep each of my 2 Google account contacts synced separately- not merge them between accounts. I can't figure out what will happen.
What will happen if I turn on the Contacts for the Volunteer Gmail account? Will the iPad's auto-sync merge my Personal Google contacts with my Volunteer Google contacts? I do NOT want all the contacts merged (synced) between both of the accounts.
I want to keep my personal Google contacts synced with my personal Google account and my volunteer contacts synced with my volunteer Google account.

Setup both accounts and they will remain as separate accounts. They will not merge.
Although both sets of contacts will appear in the Contacts app, they will stay separate.
It's not actually possible to merge contacts from multiple accounts, so there's no worry that that may happen. Although you can choose to view all contacts together in the Contacts app.

Evaluate, Time Sync, and merge 2 arrays into 1

I have two separate text files I am reading in to be processed within
Labview. I read these two files in and convert them each into 2D
arrays. What I need to do is to evaluate these files and syncronize
times which are in the first column line by line. If they are
syncronized then I need to merge them into one array. Here is an
example of where I am at.
1st array

How can I do this? I am sure there is some simple solution, I just
can't find it. The other thing that I need to do is this. Sometimes

times match in the same column, but are just off by the seconds.

I need to throw out the second one. Basically I need to ignore the
seconds and just look at the hour and minute. I am trying to figure
out if I simply can evaluate each file, look for duplicates and delete
the second one, or compare them against each other. Any help would be
appreciated. Here are the files also to show you what I have thus
far.

Hello,
I quickly created an .llb that contains the vi's you would need to perform these operations. From your description above, I took the two arrays that you have created, removed duplicates (hour/minute matching), and then appended the data from the second array to the corresponding data in the first array, based on the time stamp. I have included comments in these vi's to help you understand the algorithms I used. Also, in order to do the time stamp comparison, I just took the two times as strings, removed the seconds, and compared those values. I hope this helps. Let me know if you have any more questions! Brand new iphone , synced my apps, not my songs

As title states, just synced my iphone for the first time today. It synced a few apps I had downloaded the other night, but it did not sync my library of songs. Please help.
