Ipod touch 1st generation can't connect to my linksys wireless router wr110. THe signal is strong and there is a check mark beside my network name, but when I try to open safari it says "unable to find server".
My friends MacBook connected easily to my wireless, but why not the ipod touch? When prompted for "Password" I enter the security key info and nothing, nadda....zip. The MacBook asks for the "Security Key" info not "Password", like the touch. What's the difference?
Click on the blue arrow to the right of the network name, if IP address starts with "169." ,restart your router. It should connect properly after your router reboots in a minute or two.

The problem lies between your router and the ISP.
Pull the modem or router/modem power plug, wait about 30 seconds and plug it back in to establish a new connection to the ISP.
Try another website, another device and see if that works if not then call your ISP for assistance and/or reconfigure the router.
If your router isn't secure and you had bad leechers the ISP might have suspended the access or perhaps met the monthly data cap rate.

IPod Touch 1st Generation can't download podcasts
I have an iPod Touch 1st generation, software version 2.2.1 update indicates this is the latest version for my iPod). It has recently lost the ability to downoad podcasts through the iTunes store. I can get to the store, but when clicking on any podcast site the screen shows that it is loading the page but then the device returns to iPod home page. I can purchase and download songs from iTunes, so the problem seems to be unique to podcasts. I have also tested this on several wireless networks so it doesn't seem to be a problem unique to my home network.

Tap Settings / General / Reset / Reset Network Settings.
Restart your IPad. Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPhone. To turn iPhone back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.

You may not really be connected to your WiFi network.
Your router may not have given your iPod a valid IP address. Go to Settings > Wifi > your network name and touch the ">" to the right to see the network details. If the IP address starts with 169 or is blank then your router didn't provide an IP address and you won't be able to access the Internet.
Sometimes the fix can be as simple as restarting your router (remove power for 30 seconds and restart). Next, reset network settings on your iPod (Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings) and then attempt to connect. In other cases it might be necessary to update the router's firmware with the latest from the manufacturer's support web pages.
If you need more help please give more details on your network, i.e., your router make, model and version, the wifi security being used (WEP, WPA, WPA2), etc. -
I have installed the latest version of iTunes for Windows 8 but when I try to open it, it says Windows has an error and I simply can't open it any longer. Any help is appreciated!

I recently purchased a used iPod touch 1st generation and it will recognize the networks but gives error "unable to join network.". I have reset the phone by pressing home and power and have reset the network also. Turning the phone off and on doesn't work either. I will show the network but not any information. Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings

I have an iPod Touch running iOS 3.1.3. All of a sudden, I can no longer buy music off iTunes or apps off the App Store because the "Install" or "Buy" buttons shrink to a very small size (see attached screenshot) and do not respond when pressed. I have re-booted the iPod twice with no affect.

I have reset my router multiple times, and I was connected to the internet just fine before. I have a booster and it was working great until yesterday when it said I was connected to the internet but everytime I tried to load safari it said I wasn't connected. It is working while I am using the hard-line, but I am wondering how to fix the Wi-Fi. I have also reset safari, cleared the cache, and recieved every update.
ThanksI too am experiencing an EXTREMELY slow connection to the internet when my PC comes out of sleep. When I check/troubleshoot the connection, I have all green lights, indicating I should be able to get on line, but it takes about 4 or 5 minutes before I can do so. It seems that this problem started shortly after the iCloud (or i Could as another poster said) was loaded. I know its not my ISP, because my wife, who works on an IBM machine gets right on, no problemo. Is there something going on with either the recent update or the i Could (use to be able) addition? Defective software?
