ITS 6.20 - Multiple AGATES

Hi,
Could someone please send me a sample copy of 'ITSRegistryWgate.xml which has multiple Agates.
I have setup 2 Agate servers and a seperate Wgate server.
I did modify the Wgate.xml to include both Agates & Wgate.
When I check the Loadbalance via the ADM, it displays both
the Agates, but the 1 Agate has the status 'polled'.
(obviously connection problems)
I have check the etc/services file and it does contain
the correct ports on both the Agate servers.
Am i missing something in my Wgate.xml file ??
Do i also need to set the Multiprocess to 'yes' to cater for the second Agate ??
Many thanks and appreciate the help !!!
Morgan

Hello Morgan,
Please check the wgate traces for any problems:
Most common problems are:
DNS could not be resolved
(Agate MM) Ports on wgate are incorrect
Port mix-up
>>  have check the etc/services file and it does contain the correct ports on both the Agate servers.
Sure you did not mix up AGate and MManager port?
>> Do i also need to set the Multiprocess to 'yes' to cater for the second Agate ??
NO, this is when you use "multiple process" Agates i.e. loadbalancing on process-level at the agate side.
Did you run a couple of sessions (with renewal of the browser) before looking at the "wgate-status"?
There is a trick to test if wgate loadbalancing is working in general; just semi LB on the same agate.
Just use the agate hostname as logical name and as an IP address. Afterwards you can replace the correct values (host, ports) for the other (foreign) agate.
Here's a sample:
<key name="Agates">
-<key name="Agate1">
--<value name="Host" type="text">P141087</value>
--<value name="PortAGate" type="text">sapavw00_IT1</value>
--<value name="PortMManager" type="text">sapavwmm_IT1</value>
--<value name="Type" type="text">1</value>
--<value name="SncNameAGate" type="text" />
--<value name="SncNameWGate" type="text" />
--<value name="MultiProcess" type="text">no</value>
--<value name="Available" type="text">yes</value>
-</key>
-<key name="Agate2">
--<value name="Host" type="text">194.0.0.11</value>
--<value name="PortAGate" type="text">3900</value>
--<value name="PortMManager" type="text">3910</value>
--<value name="Type" type="text">1</value>
--<value name="SncNameAGate" type="text" />
--<value name="SncNameWGate" type="text" />

  • ITS 620 Multiple Agate

    I have installed ITS Version 6.20 Patch 16 on Windows 2003 as a dual host installation therefore have the Wgate instance on 1 server and the Agate server on a separate server.  For load balancing and redundancy purposes I would like to create another Agate instance on a separate server.  I know that this functionality can be achieved however not sure how it is configured as I can not find anything within the ITS 620 Installation guide or the Trouble shooting guide, it just mentions that this functionality can be achieved.
    From what I have read (Oss notes 352136, 740404, 375065, 505241) and other related information I believe that I just complete the Agate installation on the new server, however keep the same Instance and Virtual ITS Instance name, then ensure that my ITS service file entries for the system are the same as the Wgate.  Is there any additional configuration which is required on the Agate server?
    My point of confusion is when initially installing the Wgate, it asks if you would like to have multiple Agates, however only asks once for the Agate server.  As I now have 2 Agate instance on different hosts where do I put the information for my second Agate server?  I have read notes however these are specific to ITS 4.6D and it suggests that I have to edit the wgate.conf file, on ITS version 6.20 this file just points to C:\Program Files\SAP\ITS\6.20\config, within the config directory I have several xml files.  Am I to edit the ItsRegistryWGATE.xml on the Wgate server and add the additional agate?  Currently I have :-
    - <key name="Agates">
    - <key name="Agate1">
    <value name="Host" type="text">SERVER.NAME</value>
    <value name="PortAGate" type="text">4044</value>
    <value name="PortMManager" type="text">4054</value>
    <value name="Type" type="text">1</value>
    <value name="SncNameAGate" type="text" />
    <value name="SncNameWGate" type="text" />
    <value name="MultiProcess" type="text">yes</value>
    <value name="Available" type="text">yes</value>
    </key>
    Do I copy the above and create Agate2 and change the hostname?
    Any information would be helpful.  Once I have this working I would like to load balance the Wgates, I understand that you use Windows loadbalancing for this, however any additional information would be helpful.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Fekke
    Thanks for your help, this seems to resolve my issue, however I have a related problem which I wonder if you can shed some light.
    I have server A which initially had 2 ITS single host installations.  The ITS instance was for my R3 connection, the second is my Admin client for ITS, so the Agate and Wgate are on the same server.  On server B I have created a new Agate instance with the help of your advise.  This is currently only for UAT, in Production the setup will be different, however I have a small problem now.  Both Agates are running on server A and Server B, however when I go to my URL for ITS admin
    I can see that I have Agate loadbalancing and I can see that I have 2 active Agate instances, 1 one server A and one on server B.  I can see all my configuration via ITS admin and stats, however when I select to view the config, stats for server B I get under server b (Go to Native Adm), when I click the link I get "The page can not be displayed HTTP 500 (I can see on the URL I get:-
    http://servera:85/scripts/wgate/admin/!?~agate_routing=serverb
    I have found Oss note 584695, but this problem is only for ITS 610 and resolved in patch 23, I am on ITS 620 Patch 16.
    Do you have any ideas  ?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Using as ITS instance with multiple SAP systems

    Hello,
    Despite the recommendation of note 731679, I´m looking for some documentation or tips related to an ITS configuration to support two different SAP systems.
    The note refers to "setting the relevant parameters in the service files or by using URL parameters" but I didn´t found a clear recipe.
    Did someone there implement this scenario?
    Thanks in advance,
    Rodrigo

    This works fine for a single host system (development) but when I try with a dual-host my new instance u201CBu201D reads the service files of instance u201CAu201D when I try to start an IAC.  I gone through all the xml config files and canu2019t find anything wrong.  I have instance B configured to use different ports then A.  Separate IIS sites for each instance running on WIN2003.
    How do the wGate know the correct Agate process to connect to?
    Thanks,

  • ITS agate question

    WHat is the difference between having:
    a.   Agate with multiple processes
    b.   Multiple agates
    Does any one have any best practices that they are currently using for setting up their ITS strategy?
    Thanks

    Hello Jeremy,
    Difference is in the kind of scaling/loadbalancing!
    with multiple agates (on different hosts) the wgate takes care of the loadbalancing and failover.
    with multiple agate (sub)processes the MManager (Agate Mapping Manager) distributes the load over the Agate processes (on the same host).
    Of course a combination of both is also possible.
    The strategy depends on the load you are expecting, please rever to the ITS installation and tuning guides for an estimation/calculation.

  • HP Photosmart all in one C309a printing multiple copies when its set to print only one copy.

    having issues with my C309a its now printing multiple copys when its set to print only one copy.it started doing this 4 days ago and its happening on both my Windows 7 64 bit computer and my Vista 32 computer that both have the latest release drivers already installed need help.HP please sort this issue out.still under warranty do i have to return it?

    I am using a Motorola SBG900 Wirless Surfboard Gateway - supplied with Bigpond Cable. It is set to be using WPA security and have never had a problem with it before whilst connecting any wireless devices such as a laptop, PDA etc.
    My feeling is that the wireless functionality of this printer needs some serious work before the next release. And furthermore they should never have released it the way it is as it wouldn't pass 5% of user acceptance tests if using wireless. There are too many complaints on this forum and others about similar problems to suggest that I am not by myself here. Dissapointing considering this is the feature that would be at the top of the list of most purchasing this model. It lets down what could of been a vg printer.
    I agree, I think if I want to get this printer working on a wirless network, I will have to set the IP address manually. The problem is the printer refuses to connect to the router now even after it connected a few days ago with no intervention. I have powered down both the router, PC, and printer without any luck yet. I will set the IP address manually first on the printer and see how it goes, then if it connects will see if the PC/router can see the printer during the SW install procedure which has failed >10 times to date.
    For now I think I will stick with Ethernet as it is no doubt much faster anyway and will try the wirless setup again in a few days when my patience grows back. Does anyone know differences in speed between USB/Wireless/Ethernet? I know this is dependant on a number of things but just interested in ball park figures here.

  • Additional AGate process

    Hi,
    Kindly advise on the queries to add a additional AGate node.
    We have 4GB of Physical Memory and our process is not completely utilised but the AGate stops responding when the MaxThreads goes to 0. So we have analysed and decided to add a additional AGate process.
    Any thoughts on this decision?
    AFAIK to add a additional AGate process we have to set the property MaxAGates to the required number of process in our case 2 then change the multiprocess property in ITSRegistryWGATE.xml then restart the ITS system.
    At this point am I missing something is this the correct process?
    How do we check whether the new process has been added through ITS administrator?
    Are there any configurations to be done in mapping manager?
    Any ideas on any questions will be highly appreciated.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vijith

    Hello Vijith,
    This is an example of the values needed in the ITSRegistryWGATE.xml file for multiple AGATE's:
    <key name="Agates">
          <key name="Agate1">

           <value name="SncNameWGate" type="text"/>
           <value name="MultiProcess" type="text">no</value>
           <value name="Available" type="text">yes</value>

           <value name="SncNameWGate" type="text"/>
           <value name="MultiProcess" type="text">no</value>
           <value name="Available" type="text">yes</value>
          </key>
          <key name="Agate4">

           <value name="SncNameWGate" type="text"/>
           <value name="MultiProcess" type="text">no</value>
           <value name="Available" type="text">yes</value>
          </key>
         </key>
    Make sure you have each Agate listed in the servers Hosts file.  The Services files will need the values sapawmm_<SID> port#/tcp, sapavw00_<SID> port#/tcp, and Message Server parameter sapdp XX port#/tcp.  These need to be insync with every Agate.  Especially if you have a dual-host landscape.
    sapavwmm_SID     port#/tcp                   # Production Port
    sapavw00_SID     port#/tcp                   # Production Port
    sapavw00_ADM     port#/tcp                   # Admin port
    sapavwmm_ADM     port#/tcp
    sapdp XX                   port#/tcp                                       #message server
    Once you have made any configuartion changes it is always best to restart the services specific for ITS.  You should see the new AGATE in the Admin Tool with these settings.  Don't forget to reward points.

  • ITS infrastructure

    Hi,
    I am putting together an ITS infrastructure design and I have a couple of questions that I am hoping someone can assist me with:
    1. I am putting AGATE and WGATE on the same server, but I will have multiple AGATE/WGATE servers for resiliency. My question is can I load balance the AGATE components between the different servers? i.e. WGATE on box A can use AGATE on box  B or A and WGATE on box B can use AGATE on box B or A. Is this possible? And does it make any sense to do this? I am thinking that if one box is less loaded somehow it could offload handle the AGATE processing from the other box if needed?
    2. Are there any guidelines / benchmarks around server sizing the AGATE component? Or even both agate and wgate. My feeling is the WGATE doesnt require to much grunt but the AGATE bits will.
    Any thoughts, help, comments greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    James

    Hello James,
    Yes it makes sense to put a cross in place for (wgate/agate) loadbalancing and failover.
    Just put the agates in your (logical) instance at the wgate side (all wgates);  Assuming 3 agates on three hosts pointing to the same R3 then extend all wgate configurations to:
    - Instance XXX
    --  Agate1 Host1
    --  Agate2 Host2
    --  Agate3 Host3
    Remember to check the "services" files at the original hosts for the portnumbers of the Agate and Mapping Manager.
    there is some information on agate sizing in http://help.sap.com/saphelp_47x200/helpdata/en/82/4d5739d335a85ee10000000a114084/frameset.htm

  • Multiple ipods on same pc?

    I have 3 ipods on the same computer. how do I set them up so they each have their own itunes library - i.e. so they don't necessarily share songs? It's a problem because they have different gb's. my running ipod has only 8 gb, my home ipod has 160, and itouch 16 gb. I now have more than 8 gb music in my library, and thus running ipod doesn't have room for my playlists.

    There are several different ways to use two or more iPods with one computer. iTunes will recognise each device that you add and they will have each their own individual settings. Have a look at this help page for suggestions and choose the method that suits you best: How to use multiple iPods with one computer
    If you particularly want to have separate libraries you can use that method if you wish. To create or access a second (or more) library, hold down the Shift key in Windows when launching iTunes. In the resulting dialogue you will get the option to create a new library or navigate to the other Library.
    Note: You can only have one Library open at a time and iTunes will default to the last library opened if you don't use the keyboard command to choose one. The new library will be empty until you add content to it. To get back to your original library you need to close iTunes and open it again while holding down the shift key, this time choose to open an existing library and navigate to its location. Multiple libraries can prove tricky when using multiple iPods, if you don't use the keyboard command you can risk syncing to the wrong library: Using multiple iTunes libraries -Windows
    You can mitigate the risk by switching off auto-sync and sync the iPod yourself after you are connected. Open iTunes first and go to Edit>Preferences>Devices and check the box "Prevent iPods and iPhones from syncing automatically" and choose Ok. Then connect your iPod.

  • Use one parameter for multiple markers in PreparedStatement?

    I have a prepared statement with a where clause of the following form:
    where x = ? or y = ?
    where the ? for x and y is the same literal value. Is there a more elegant way to handle this other than what I'm doing now (which I think is pretty clumsy):
    pstmt.setString(1, aValue);
    pstmt.setString(2, aValue);
    Obviously, I'd like to only set the value once, and have it used both places.

    No. If its transactions across multiple databases you should use different datasources.

  • Multiple iTunes Libraries on same computer?

    Hi,
    My wife, daughter, and I all have ipods, each uses a different computer, my wife and I each use our laptops, and daughter uses the home desktop. Recently, the desktop has crashed and looks like we might need to re-format the drive (i.e. lose everything) and re-install Windows XP. She's got all her music on her iPod but unfortunately, no back up on a CD or DVD. Is there some way to re-create a new library for her from her iPod on to either of our laptops without causing conflicts with our existing iTunes libraries which are totally different. I.E. will the "sync" function work to recreate a library on a hard drive vs. going the other way around as usual.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    iTunes will only let you copy your purchases directly from an iPod to the computer, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
    For everything else (music from CDs, other downloads and including iTunes purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. You'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos, podcasts and games as well. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here:

  • Multiple Itune Program accounts

    I'm new to the ipod and iTunes.
    Can itunes have multiple acounts within its progam for multiple users running it on one computer??
    If I have 4 family members and we all have ipods, can itunes have separate accounts for each family member??
    How is this done if it can be??
    I have not downloaded itunes yet, I just want to get this clear before I do.

    You can each have your own iTunes account - this article has some info about how to do this http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1495

  • How Can I Share iPhoto Library/Keywords Among Multiple Users

    Hi there! I am having a bit of a dilemma where I am trying how I can have several users access a shared iPhoto library (as well as retain their own personal iPhoto libraries). Basically, I have a handful of (three) users that need to be able to store/search against a common shared photo library - ideally, in iPhoto.
    I understand that I can share albums through iPhoto (users are using a mix of iPhoto '08 and '09) on one account as long as iPhoto is running - a serious drawback. When I tried sharing photos via this method I was able to see the shared albums; however the keywords that were defined for those photos were not available. This presents two questions:
    1) Can iPhoto share its library among multiple users (including keywords, etc) so that if a user account (let's call it "media") shares out selected albums that the viewing users (user1 and user2) can search against the keywords in the host library? Or is this not possible with iPhoto?
    2) Is there another way of sharing photos that is more efficient and can be hosted on our private servers? The interface in iPhoto is amazing - and if there was an application that allowed for that same sort of feel/tagging we would be good to go...

    Well here is the weird thing. If I was sharing out the library from my computer, I could search for the keywords (and obtain results) as expected. However, if I went to another computer that was viewing my shared library, searching by the same keyword did not return any results.

  • Multiple iTunes Libraries?

    Is there anyway you can have multiple libraries (not playlists) for different iPods on the same computer? We don't want our music to mix...how can I fix this?

    Another option is to create a separate Windows account for each person on your PC. Different user accounts by definition would give you completely separate libraries. Each account has it's own iTunes folder, Library and iTunes Music folder and you load it with CDs etc just as you did with your original one. The iPod can be set to update however the owner chooses, sync all, manual or sync specific playlists.
