ITunes inmediatly shuts down whenever I connect my IPOD for updating

Whenever I open iTunes and connect my IPOD for updating get the windows message saying "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience... bla bla bla , send or dont send error report".
Earlier today, i reinstall iTunes and then update it to the latest version available on line but the "error" continues.
What shall I do????
Please HELP me!!!!!

First uninstall iTunes AND quicktime in control panel>add remove. Goto acer web site and download any patches and updates they offer, especailly for iTunes issues for your model.
Now disable any antivirus programs and security programs and things then goto apple.com and download/install the latest version of iTunes, don't install what came with your iPod on CD for its likly outdated by now anyways. When its done installing, reboot the PC

  • My itunes keeps shutting down whenever I connect my ipod.  It works otherwise however.

My story is long.  Yesterday, I tried to connect my iPod to my computer to allow it to charge.  Itunes crashed and my computer told me my iPod needed to be reformated.  So I went through the procedures as it showed me on the screen and reformated the iPod.  I tried plugging it in and itunes still crashed.  I've tried reinstalling itunes, resetting the iPod to factory settings (using the itunes program on another computer), restarting the services in administrative tools, deauthorizing and reauthorizing the account, changing the drive letter, and just about everything else I've read that might help online and none of it works.  I tried putting in my brother's iPod to test to see if itunes would work then, and it did.  I'm not sure what the problem is though since I reset the iPod to factory defaults.  Can somebody help?

I downloaded the 64bit system....did it like 3 times.   Finally, I found some other helpful hints.  I tried loading ITUNES in safe mode, still couldn't get it to not shutdown once I connected the IPod, I then logged into one of my other user accounts, then I was able to restore the settings, however, it removed all my songs and syned with the Itunes on that user acct (which was my nano IPod).  That was ok, because then I was able to go back to my regular account and sync and updated all my songs....just had to have my kids authorize me again on Itunes.  Think it's a racket to keep upgrading, changing things and not supporting the stuff that still works.....my classic works just fine nd holds 5,000 songs...I only have about 1500; so I have long way to go.  When my display cracked and the LCD was all messed up. I sent it to IFIXIPODS fast.com and they replaced it, quick and cheap--hats off to them!

  • Itunes keeps shutting down when I connect my IPod Classic

Itunes shuts down whenever I connect my IPOD classic  and sync attempts to start.  I have had this IPod for several years and I have had Windows 7 for over 6 months.  I am trying to update versions, but I get an error message with that also.I have also seen posts on Microsoft and they aren't helpful.....I have seen many posts on Itunes also regarding same issue. What is up when the company will not fix their problems with the products?

  • ITunes shuts down when I connect my iPod 30gb

A windows error message appears saying iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down. I am unable to update my iPod which drives me crazy. Somebody please help!
I browsed through some threads which have similar problems as I do, but I am unable to reply in any. It says: This topic has been archived - replies are not allowed.
There's this thread here about the problem I am facing but I doesn't seem to understand the solution to it.

A windows error message appears saying iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down.
let's get a crash log from itunes, and send it to the Apple engineers for a look.
Typically, you'll need to configure Dr. Watson on your PC in order to generate crash logs. Windows start menu -> Run. Type in "cmd". Hit return. At the prompt in the command line window that comes up, type in
    drwtsn32 -i
    And hit return.
This will create crash logs in Documents And Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr Watson\. There'll usually be a file in here called "drwtsn32.log"
prior to collecting the itunes crash log, delete any existing crash logs in there. (we want to make sure we send the correct crash log.)
Generate the crash, collect the crash log, and and send it as an attachment to this email address.
in the email to Roy, be sure to include the following information:
    - A link to the thread on Apple Discussions where the issue is being discussed
    - The username you are using in the thread
    - The version of iTunes you are using or trying to use
    - the version of Windows you are using (mention service packs)
    - A concise description of the issue you are seeing
    - The exact text of the error message you are seeing

  • Itunes shuts down when I connect my ipod video

I have a ipod video 60gb (the one right before they released the 80gb). I recently had to reinstall OS 10.4 due to freezing issues. Well, it still freezes, and it froze during the re-sync of the ipod and I had to reboot the ipod cause I had to reboot the computer. Now whenever I connect the ipod, it is recognized by the CPU, but whenever Itunes starts up with the ipod connected, it just shuts right down.

  • ITunes "encounters" a problem whenever i connect my iPod

    Hello.
I have a problem with iTunes. Whenever i connect my iPod to my computer, iTunes says: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to be shut down". This keeps me from synching my iPod and adding/or removing music from it, and it really is a pain! I have tried uninstalling it and installing it again. I've tried restarting my computer. None of the things I've tried has worked, and I haven't been able to find help on any other forums. The strange thing is that this problem seems to have occurred after I installed version 8.1. And by the way, I'm using Windows XP.
Any help wil be much appreciated,
    Errol

  • ITunes shuts down when I connect my IPod

    Hello to all.
Everytime I connect my IPod to my PC, iTunes shuts down. If I disconnect the IPod, I can use iTunes. What happened? I already installed the newest software. The problem is new for me, some days ago I could use ITunes normally with my IPod. The second problem is, that I cant see and hear my music, which is still on my IPod. This problem exists since I got the problem with iTunes.

I would uninstall the ipod and itunes software, reboot and then reinstall it all.

  • ITunes 8 shuts down (error pop-up) when iPod plugged in.

I recently updated to itunes 8 on a Windows XP. I can run iTunes and play music, except when I plug in my iPod. When I plug it in iTunes freezes and comes up with "iTunes has encountered an error and needs to shut down". Conversely, my iPod is recognised by Windows - it does the little sound when its plugged in; and its charging while its connected to the USB. Therefore the problem seems to be in syncing?
I have tried so many things. I have restarted my computer, tried uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes (x2), I have restarted my iPod several times, and I have tried installing QuickTime separately (I read it might have been a glitch with QuickTime). I'm so frustrated, hopefully you guys will be able to guide me in the right direction
    Cheers.

    hi allimal!
iTunes works alright until I plug in my iPod, then it shuts down saying something about iTunes has unexpectedly encountered an error and must shut down.
what version of itunes do you have? to check, go "help > about itunes", and wait for the version number to scroll up from the bottom. for example, i have a 6.0.4.2.
    if you've got a 6.0.2.23, see:
iTunes 6.0.2 quits unexpectedly when you connect ipod

  • Computer shuts down when I connect my Ipod Touch to it.

Each time I go to connect my Ipod touch to my computer, I get the blue screen of death appear on my computer with a huge error message and then it shuts down, 'To protect itself'
I have tried to connect my Ipod Nano and thats fine, works no problems.
I have followed various advice notes from Apple with no joy of sorting the problem out.

I've been having the same issue with my 2nd gen itouch. My computer would crash and show a blue screen after I connected my itouch. My other IPODS would work fine. After unistalling/reinstalling several times, restoring my computer to an earlier date, and updating all usb drivers, I was still having my computer crash with my itouch. If you have a webcam, type in the following in the search support: What to do when Windows XP or Vista computer displays a blue screen error message when syncing the iPhone or iPod touch.
I solved my issue with solution one. My itouch is connecting fine without any crashes, for now. Hope this solves your issue.

  • ITunes imediatly shuts down whenever i open it

whenever i open iTunes i get the windows message saying "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. yada yad yada, send or dont send error report". earlier today, before i realized this problem, i scaned my computer with a few registry checks and fixed all the errors and then installed Windows Blinds and changed some visual aspects of windows on that. i thought that one of these may have damaged iTunes so i restored my computer using the System restore to a checkpoint that was before any of the registry scans. i tried itunes again and i got a message saying "some of the files required to run itunes are missing, please reinstall iTunes". i reinstalled itunes and i am back to the first windows error message. any sugestions on how to get iTunes to work?

Hi there - I have had to restore my computer several times and always have this problem with itunes/quicktime after. It seems to be something to do with Quicktime I think. Anyway, the previous poster gave you a link to this article -
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976
If you follow all the advice here, you should get it up and running - I did.
The other thing to do is delete the Quicktime icon from your desktop toolbar. Also in the section which talks about Emptying your Temp Directory, my system would not let me do this as some files were "being used", so I went into the temp folder and manually deleted any which related to itunes or Quicktime.
    Hope this helps.

  • ITunes shuts down and loses connection to ATV

Hi, i have an ATV and it or iTunes is giving me a lot of grief.
My iTunes keeps shutting down in the middle of a movie and then I get the message that there are no movies on my ATV.
I am hard-wired to my ATV with an ethernet cable through a wireless router to my iMac. My iMac is also cabled to the router. so it probably isn't a wireless issue.
    Does any body know why?

In addition to the other requested information, when was the last time ... or perhaps this will be the first time, to run Preferential Treatment to ensure your preference files aren't corrupt? If you can download it, it's at http://www.jonn8.com/html/pt.html. If you have OnyX, you can check your preference files using it, too.

  • Satellite L40 won't shut down with power connected, and won't go in standby

Hi everybody. I hope someone can help me. Basically, there are two problems: one with shutting the laptop (Satellite L40-17U (Vista 32-bit Home Premium SP1) ) down when the power is connected, and one with closing the lid and putting it to sleep.
    1. Since a few weeks, it suddenly doesn't want to shut down, whenever the power is connected. When it is on battery, it will shut down. When the power is connected and I try shutting it down, it seems like it shuts down (all activity ceases and the LEDs go off) for about 1 or 2 seconds, and then it goes back on.
    2. When I close the lid (all settings in Vista are set to put the laptop in 'sleep' status when the lid is closed) the laptop goes into a state from which it can only be recovered by shutting it down by pressing the on/off button for about 10 seconds to completely shut it down. When closing the lid, only the battery LED keeps blinking orange (the way it should be), but apparently the laptop keeps consuming power, because when I reboot it later (first having to shut it down as described above) the battery tends to be quite a emptier than it was before rebooting it (like going from 100% to 65% in 30 minutes, while being in 'sleep' state). Also, when I open the lid, the other LEDs do go on again (green), but nothing happens.
After rebooting by first pressing the on/off button for 10 seconds to shut it down, I frequently get a message that Windows could not be started, and have to run System Repair.
I've just done a completely clean installation with the product recovery CD (didn't install SP1 yet), upgraded the BIOS to v1.90, but the problem remains.
I'm afraid my only option will be to bring it away for a warranty repair, but knowing that these repairs can take weeks, I'd prefer to try a solution anyone here could recommend me first. If you have any ideas, please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Daniel Breslauer

    Hi guys
Never had such issue on my notebook but regarding to another users here in the forum the BIOS might help to solve such strange notebook behavior
To be honest the shut down issue is not known to me I noticed an standby issue on my notebook but the BIOS update helped.
Therefore I recommend updating the BIOS firstly.
If the issue will still appear, then the ASP should take a look into the notebook.
    Good luck

  • Itunes is shutting down on my computer

For the past few weeks, since I got my ipod touch, whenever I add 2 or 3 songs, or try to edit songs in itunes, it shuts down with the message "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to close." How can I fix this. I ran a diagnostic test, and it came back good. When I had my nano, this never happened. Please point me in the right direction.

    Can anyone help?
