ITunes makes DVD drive disappear
I installed iTunes for the first time on my machine after getting an iPod Touch. The next day I discovered my DVD drive icon was missing from the Computer window. I assumed it was because of iTunes since that was the only that had changed. I tried restarting my machine, no good. I uninstalled iTunes and my drive was back. I re-installed and uninstalled several times along with updating the DVD drivers, no difference in the outcome. I would like to be able to use iTunes. Does anyone have any suggestions?

my iphone is stuck in the connecting to itunes screen, i can not restart my phone the top power button is broke? any ideas? it wont let me connect to itunes either, usb device can not be detected

In iTunes under my device, under the apps tab, Why are all the options shaded out? I cannot make any changes, select any apps or do anything with the apps. I was able to load a few apps and sync but cannot sync anymore to my phone.

So the menu bar reads iChat, File, Edit, View, Buddies, Video, Window and Help
There is no Buddy List open.
There is no other window for iChat open.
In the iChat Menu you only have access to Status.
Is an item ticked in the list ?
Is this a green (Available item) or Red ( an Away one) ?
Can you access the Accounts option ? (Sitll in the iChat Menu)
Is anything in here ticked ?
In the Window menu any Logged in account should appear in the list (Between the Next Chat and File Transfer items)
It would be useful to know which version of iChat this is.
If no account is ticked (iChat Menu > Accounts) or not showing in the Window Menu, plus you cannot determine the Status and you cannot access the Preferences then you need to access your Home Folder/Library/Preferences
As the Library in the Home Holder is Invisible in Lion you will need the Finder's Go Menu > Go to Folder option (you can use it in earlier OS versions if you want)
Type in:-
~/Library/Preferences
Find the file called com.apple.ichat.plist
Drag it to the Trash and Restart iChat.
This will lose all the settings in iChat that you have changed from Defaults but there is no way around this.

SOS - trying to update my iphone 4 to IOS 6. Says connect to itunes. Done that but nothing is happening. Devices doesnt even come up in itunes? phone is stuck with apple logo on screen. cant do anything?
With your phone plugged in, open Image Capture and see if the iPhone shows up. If not, you are having a sync problem. If it shows up in Image Capture, but not iTunes, I'd delete iTunes and reinstall it.

Can you access paid for apps/movies from iTunes on another device if you have not synced? I purchased movies on my new iPad, but need to delete some off as have no space left. I have not synced the movies I have purchased on my iPad to any other devices as yet and want to know if I can retrieve the movies from iTunes later if I removed them now without syncing first? I do not want to forfeit my purchases.. Please help!

You can re-download content purchased from the iTunes store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

If the problem re-occurs, select the content which is causing a problem and use the 'Report a problem' button in Your Purchase History using your computer.
Try deleting the problematic book (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iBook store.

Itunes causes DVD Drivers to not Be able to load
For months I have been reinstalling Vista (two computers) and having to delete a file from my registry over and over again to play DVDs. I only found out today that it is Itunes install that causes this problem. The hours I have spent, the blue screens, the wasted time the replacement of my hard drive, motherboard, dvd devices (two) the waste of time is unmeasurable. The error message I receive is "can't load driver error code 10". But HOW DO YOU TALK TO APPLE ABOUT THIS? Even more importantly, how do I solve this problem? Somehow their Burn Drivers make the DVD inoperable. I shall add Apple to the list of arrogant corporations, but where should I put them on top of or below Microsoft? Is there any company that really cares about their consumers? Or do they all only want to see how fast they can develop something else for you to buy? I was 59, (60 Mar 23) before I bought and Ipod even though I was one of the first 50 people in the US to have a DAT walkman. SO I guess I am old because it used to be that you could talk to people. Now it is past 90 days since I bought the IPod made in CHINA!!! so i can't get tech support.
Isn't it curious that I did that already? BUT THat doesn't solve the problem/. As i reinstall Itunes so I can use it the problem start all over again. Is it that you have a Mac and I don't create the idea that it is easy. I wish I had a Mac, but I dont' and I paid too much to switch. If Apple wants me to buy an IPod then they need to make their software work on a PC.

I have a older MBP running 10.6.8 and after the recent iOS update I have not been able to sync my devices. I was able to sync an ipod, but not iphone or ipad. iTunes recognizes my devices, but sync button stays grayed. I've changed my USB hub, reinstalled iTunes and run disc cleanup. No luck.
You said that your computer will sync other iPods? Are they iPod touches? Other iPod use different drivers the the touch And iPhone and iPad).

Hi, my iphone 5 encountered an unknown error while updating to iOS 7 via itunes and is now stuck in recovery mode and prompts me to restore the phone when I connect it to itunes but then I would lose all my data. I DO NOT have any back ups on itunes. Is there anyway to get out of recovery mode without restoring or recover data after a restore?
Or any other suggestions please? ThanksAs pdroth said, you should have gotten a backup made when you started the update of iOS. If you cannot find a backup, and the phone is in recovery mode, there are no futher suggestions to make. To get the phone working again you have to restore. You cannot force a backup at this time since it is already in recovery mode. It will not allow anything else but a restore at this point.

You asked what I meant about saving the installer on your PC.
When you go to the iTunes download page:

And click on download, you should be offered the choice of running the installer or saving it. You need to click on save and then choose a folder on you PC where you want it saved. But I think you already did that.
After the installer file - iTunessetup.exe - is save on your computer, you double click on it to run it.
It's very odd that the installer fails at different stages. usually when the installation fails, it is at a specific stage and usually generates an error message.
I am afraid I am mystified. Have you had any other problems with your PC which might suggest a general problem not specific to iTunes?
The only other suggestion I have is to download a fresh copy of the installer - in case it got corrupted. You could also try using "run as administrator" to run the installer. It should be an option if you right click on the installer file.
The other thing it might be worth trying is to install it from another account, but you would need to create another administrator account if you don't a;ready have one. Or if you have another account that is not an admin account, you can temporarily promote it from the control panel>>User accounts. -
Hyper-V 2012 Gen 2 VM SCSI DVD device fails to boot from iso files
I am running Server 2012 R2 in Hyper-V Server role for my home lab. I am trying to create a gen 2 vm, with Server 2012 R2 iso loaded in the SCSI DVD device, but every time I try to start the vm it fails to start with the following error:

MY iPod touch says iPod I'd disabled, connect to iTunes, but it is green at the top instead of red. It won't allow me to slide bar to open screen or nothing. I tried to connect to iTunes and a message appears and says iTunes cannot find my device must have pass code to continue. But I can't do anything on the iPod at all. What can I do to fix this?

My iPHone is connected to my iMac, and I want to transfer files from iMace to IPhone. Instructions say to go to iTunes, look under Devices for my Device. I do so, and no devices are listed. How do I get iTunes to recognize my iPhone?
