Language Issue in Repository Manager and T-REX

Hi Everybody,
we are trying to implement a repository manager for SAP KM. Our systems stores documents language specific in a database. Now we are wondering how we should create a view to the documents, so that every document in each language is indexed by T-REX correctly. Lets say the internal view is something like this:
   /Documents
      ->File.pdf
  /Images
      ->Image.jpg
In this case File.pdf and Image.jpg can exist in different languages. So our question is, does T-REX create an index for each language available in the portal? If so, which would be very nice, how can we get the current language T-REX is using for indexing within our RM implementation?
Otherwise we have to create virtual TOP-Level laguage folders for each language in our database that would look like this
/de
   /Documents
      ->File.pdf
  /Images
      ->Image.jpg
/en
   /Documents
      ->File.pdf
  /Images
      ->Image.jpg
We try to avoid this, since File.pdf ist a single item with different language versions.
Does anybody know the best way to solve this?
Kind Regards,
Ali

Hi Matthias,
I think the language handling and the mapping of default languages is application specific and should be done within the RM. In our case this available allready, since our WCMS system allready take care about that... So for a logged in user, we are able to create a language specific folder structure very nicely.
Our problem is the indexing by TREX. We wan't to make sure that every language version of the docment can be found when people searching. So in our case the perfect solution would be that TREX asks the RM for available languages in the repository and starts a crawler for each language available in the repository.
Something that I am not sure about is the presentation of the search results. Since the URL of the search result might point to a different language version than the logged in user has. So if the URL is
http://server/irj/go/km/repsotory/Documents/File.pdf
this might result to a german document, even if the searched term is in the english document. So the language must be set in the search result. For example like this
http://server/irj/go/km/repsotory/Documents/File.pdf?locale=en
This would be our preferred way to handle this issue. I think we will keep the virtual language folders until the new feature is available.
Thank you guys for this very high quality answers )
Kind Regards,
Ali

  • Web Repository Manager and robots.txt

    Hello,
    I would like to search an intranet site and therefore set up a crawler according to the guide "How to set up a Web Repository and Crawl It for Indexing".
    Everything works fine.
    Now this web site uses a robots.txt as follows:
    <i>User-agent: googlebot
    Disallow: /folder_a/folder_b/
    User-agent: *
    Disallow: /</i>
    So obviously, only google is allowed to crawl (parts of) that web site.
    My question: If I'd like to add the TRex crawler to the robots.txt what's the name of the "User-agent" I have to specify here?
    Maybe the name I defined in the SystemConfiguration > ... > Global Services > Crawler Parameters > Index Management Crawler?
    Thanks in advance,
    Stefan

    Hi Stefan,
    I'm sorry but this is hard coded. I found it in the class : com.sapportals.wcm.repository.manager.web.cache.WebCache
    private HttpRequest createRequest(IResourceContext context, IUriReference ref)
            HttpRequest request = new HttpRequest(ref);
            String userAgent = "SAP-KM/WebRepository 1.2";
            if(sessionWatcher != null)
                String ua = sessionWatcher.getUserAgent();
                if(ua != null)
                    userAgent = ua;
            request.setHeader("User-Agent", userAgent);
            Locale locale = context.getLocale();
            if(locale != null)
                request.setHeader("Accept-Language", locale.getLanguage());
            return request;
    So recompile the component or changing the filter... I would prefer to change the roberts.txt
    hope this helps,

  • BOE integration in SAP NW Portal via repository manager and km content

    Hi BO XI experts,
    we try to synchronize a BO folder of BO InfoView through the KM Content in SAP Portal. Following the instructions of the book "Integrating SAP Business Objects XI 3.1 Tools with SAP NetWeaver", we
    - installed the system under System Administration --> System Configuration --> System Landscape
    - checked settings in the web.xml file
    - integrated a Crystal Report through upload and apply of the par-file com.BusinessObjects.pct.masteriview.par
    --> the iView for a specific report contained in the InfoView works fine
    - integrated the par-file BusinessObjectsKM.par
    - created a new Business Object Repository Manager through System Configuration --> Content Management --> Repository Managers --> Business Objects Repository with a new prefix
    - went to Content Admin --> KM Content and tried to open the new repository with this prefix
    Before upgrading our systems with EP 1 for NW 7 (and EP 4 for SAP ERP 6) this repository worked fine.
    After this, we encounter the following error and cannot open InfoView content anymore:
    System Error
    An exception occurred during the program execution.
    Exception Message:  Your operation cannot be fulfilled due to a network problem, please try again.
    Go back and try again
    The SSO connection seems to work fine as the a single Crystal Report can still be opened through the iView.
    Does anybody have an idea how to solve this problem?
    Thank you very much in advance.
    Best regards,
    Carolin

    Hello Ingo,
    thank you very much for responding so quickly. Yes, I tried it with a new BO repository but without any changes. I also repeated the upload of BusinessObjectsKM.par - file.
    I'm wondering about the result of my system connection test of the BOE system.
    There I get the message:
    Retrieval of default alias successful
    Connection failed. Make sure that Single Sign-On is configured correctly
    As the Crystal Report iView works correctly and therefore SSO is supposed to be installed properly, I do not understand why we receive this message. Could the problem, in spite of the crystal report working fine, lay in a uncorrect system configuration?
    Before, when the repository worked properly, I did not verify the connection test.
    The enhancement packages should not have had any impact on our BO installation.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Issue in User Management and Permissions

    Hi,
         There is an issue found while working on user management and security. When an asset is uploaded to the DAM, even with create and modify permission it is not able to      edit.
         While analyzing, it was due to the following reasons.
    When given “MODIFY” permission to the root folder, it is not applying to all the asset  in that folder and sub-folders.
    We have to provide “MODIFY” permission for each asset, in this case it won’t apply for newly added asset.
    When given “DELETE” permission to the root folder, “MODIFY” permission is applying automatically to all the asset  in that folder and sub-folders.
    But “myRole” only should modify the asset but not delete.
    Is it CQ functionality or an issue.?
    Note: Using CQ5.5 version
    Regards,
    Fazz

    In CQ5.4 "MODIFY" permission at folder level is enough for modifying the assets under that folder. But in CQ5.5 "MODIFY" permission is necessary for every asset for editing.

  • Issue with Cash Management and liquidity forecast report

    Hello folks,
    I am working with cash management and liquidity forecast reports. While running the report for Cash management, as I drill down to planning levels and induvidual GL accounts for the bank accounts, the figures for GL acounts in report does not tally with actual GL balances. As I drill down to last level, it shows the GL balance display which is different from the values in the report. Can anyone tell me why it does not pick up certain values. I find that certain document type "DZ" values are not picked up by the report. Any suggestions?
    Also, I would like to know is there any way to cross check the values in Liquidity forecast report for sales orders, purchase orders and requisitons through any other report in MM and SD. Would appreciate if someone can respond to mu query.
    Thanks in advance,
    -NK-

    In se38, look for programs starting with RFFD*; there are a few for reconciliation of cash management with SD/MM/GL etc.

  • Issue with Color Management and Print Module

    The is a repost per request from a comment on Julieanne Kost's blog...
    Having sticky output settings can be useful but now that LR has a color managed workflow, it introduces some problems. For example, if a Proof Copy is created and edited to a particular profile, then that copy is taken into the Print Module, if the output profile that has “stuck” from the previous job does not match you have a problem. It would be nice if the behavior for proof copies would be to automatically match the editing profile or at least warn of a mismatch. And while it is nice to be able to create a Saved Print with all the output parameters, it would be helpful to be able to create saved sets of “Print Job” settings assuming that they will be consistent for a particular printer/ink/paper combination (and whatever “Print Adjustment” you have found to your liking) then easily applied to any image being prepared for output. Perhaps a “save setting” selection under the “Print to:” menu.

    So what you propose is the templates are proof copy sensitive and if they are setup for profile A but the proof copy describes profile B, then everything but the template defined profile is honored? I could get behind that idea (but what if one selects multiple VC’s with differing profiles and goes into Print?).
    That's pretty much it. It does get complicated quickly as you look at multiple VCs or (and I think we need to start making the distinction between proof copies and ordinary virtual copies) if you bring a mixture of PCs and VCs into the print module. I would suggest that the default behavior be to set output profile of the PC as defined in the PC and retain the "sticky" behavior for ordinary VCs.
    I also think that having the ability to save a "Print Copy" may change what we need out of the templates and perhaps their overall function should be re-evaluated.
    The VC name should show you the profile used for soft proofing if you have the overlay on. That helps too. My concern are those who work with these VC’s and the text overlay is off.
    I'm not getting that behavior. The only place the copy name shows up in the print module is in the filmstrip header. Maybe I have a preference set wrong somewhere... Still, I'd rather the software take care of making the match rather than having to double check to make sure I haven't inadvertently changed the profile somehow (i.e. clicking on a template just to see how it would look on another size paper).

  • Language issues with 11g xe and apex

    Hi,
    Nice work indeed, but I found that there's not a Chinese version of 11g xe, it is in English, and also for apex embeded, is it ok for me to do the same as before, to install a language for apex by running the script offered within the apex package?
    After installing the apex app, some menus are in English in the interacitve report, like the 'action' button and its included functions, like aggregate, caculate, sort,

    Hi ,
    I have found the way, as the manual stated:
    3.3.10 About Running Oracle Application Express in Other Languages
    The Oracle Application Express interface is translated into German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Brazilian Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese. A single instance of Oracle Application Express can be installed with one or more of these translated versions. At runtime, each user's Web browser language settings determine the specific language version.
    In order to install other languages you must use the apex_4.0.zip file which contains the extra files referenced below. If you previously downloaded apex_4.0_en.zip, then you don't need to re-install Oracle Application Express. Simply download apex_4.0.zip and unzip the file into the same directory where you unzipped apex_4.0_en.zip.
    The translated version of Oracle Application Express should be loaded into a database that has a character set that supports the specific language. If you attempt to install a translated version of Oracle Application Express into a database that does not support the character encoding of the language, the installation may fail or the translated Oracle Application Express instance may appear corrupt when run. The database character set AL32UTF8 supports all the translated versions of Oracle Application Express.
    You can manually install translated versions of Oracle Application Express using SQL*Plus. The installation files are encoded in AL32UTF8.
    Note:
    Regardless of the target database character set, to install a translated version of Oracle Application Express, you must set the character set value of the NLS_LANG environment variable to AL32UTF8 before starting SQL*Plus.
    The following examples illustrate valid NLS_LANG settings for loading Oracle Application Express translations:
    American_America.AL32UTF8
    Japanese_Japan.AL32UTF8
    3.3.10.1 Installing a Translated Version of Oracle Application Express
    Whether you are installing for the first time or upgrading from a previous release, you must run the load_lang.sql script to run a translated version of Oracle Application Express.
    The installation scripts are located in subdirectories identified by a language code in the unzipped distribution apex/builder. For example, the German version is located in apex/builder/de and the Japanese version is located in apex/builder/ja. Within each of directory, there is a language loading script identified by the language code (for example, load_de.sql or load_ja.sql).
    To install a translated version of Oracle Application Express:
    Set the NLS_LANG environment variable, making sure that the character set is AL32UTF8. For example:
    Bourne or Korn shell:
    NLS_LANG=American_America.AL32UTF8
    export NLS_LANG
    C shell:
    setenv NLS_LANG American_America.AL32UTF8
    For Windows based systems:
    set NLS_LANG=American_America.AL32UTF8
    Navigate to the directory under apex/builder based on the language you need to install. For example for German, navigate to apex/builder/de. Start SQL*Plus and connect to the database where Oracle Application Express is installed as SYS specifying the SYSDBA role. For example:
    On Windows:
    SYSTEM_DRIVE:\ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
    Enter password: SYS_password
    On UNIX and Linux:
    $ sqlplus /nolog
    SQL> CONNECT SYS as SYSDBA
    Enter password: SYS_password
    Execute the following statement:
    ALTER SESSION SET CURRENT_SCHEMA = APEX_040000;
    Execute the appropriate language specific script. For example:
    @load_lang.sql
    Where lang is the specific language (for example, load_de.sql for German or load_ja.sql for Japanese).
    though I have to download apex 4.0.2, since the packages not avaliable within 11gXE.

  • Possible reasons for a repository manager not displayed under KM Content

    Hi,
    I developed a repository manager and deployed the par file Archive uploader.
    Most time after deployment, I can see immediately an instance of the repository manager under KM Content. However, sometimes, when I made some changes to the code, it doesn't appear under KM Content. The deployment log in SYS/global/config/cm/reports shows no error.
    I tried to find some log in System Administration - Monitor, but found nothing.
    So, could anyone tell me:
    1. What might be the reason for the problem that the repository manager cannot display under KM Content after deploying the par?
    2. Where can I find the log explaining why my repository manager cannot display?
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi Ray,
    Deploying a repository manager means a hot KM deployment, which isn't supported at all, see https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/bb1f18be-0801-0010-ffa0-e3495f7401bc and SAP note 894884. After such a deployment, the KM is restarted, but you have some kind of "shadow KM" in memory, which leads for most things to an unpredictable behaviour.
    In contrast to the documents reffered to above, also the standard KM delivery from SAP still behaves in an uncontrolled way for many issues.
    That's why after a KM hot deployment, you should restart your server if you realize anything "unusual". A workaround is to debug your code and using the hot code replacement feature (which only works in some situations, but that's better than nothing...).
    Hope it helps

  • A parameter of CM repository manager

    In CM repository manager,there is a parameter called "Compress content greater than".I don't know wether it will compress content when the all documents of it greater than the parameter or it will compress the document when the uploaded document greater than the parameter. And how larger should I set it?
    Can you tell me?
    Tks

    You mean when the size of contents in my CM repository manager is greater than that configured value,it will compress the new uploaded documents.But I don't know wether it will influence the performance of my repository manager and is there a standard formula to compute the best value?

  • Clarification regarding 'Simple Repository Manager' by Thilo Brandt

    Hi KM Gurus,
    Please Help!!! If I am not clear, please clarify with me and help me.
    I tried importing <b>simple repository manager</b> example authored by <b>Thilo</b> into NWDS and deployed it in the portal.
    I was able to see this repository manager getting displayed under the repository managers link. I think the code provided is creating both the repository manager and a repository based on that repository manager. Am I right?
    I also created another new repository based on this simple repository manager.
    I created a <i>KM windows system</i> and created user mapping too for that system and assigned that system to the <i>Windows Landscape System</i> while defining my new repository. I selected the <i>Security Manager</i> as <i>W2KSecurityManager</i> and <i>ACL Manager Cache</i> as <i>ca_rsrc_acl</i>. <i>OSRoot</i> is <i>'C:/'</i>.
    But I am not able to see this repository under the root folder.
    I am not able to figure out where I went wrong.
    Can anybody please help me in figuring it out?

    I'm afraid you can't activate the <b>Security Manager</b>. Are you sure that the startup of com.sap.bc.rf.manager.SimpleRepositoryManager ends succesfully? Have you checked <i>Component Monitor -> Repository Managers</i>? If I activate the Security Manager for this SimpleRepositoryManager, the Component RunTime complains that it can't instantiate the W2kSecurityManager submanager:

  • Is it possible to do massive Delete of Revisions with Repository Manager

    Hi,
    I use UCM 11g.
    I am planing to delete all the revisions that have the ContentType "DataSheet". That is about 10.000 revisions. I did start the Repository Manager and filtered all the content for ContentType "DataSheet".
    My problem is that I can delete only 200 items at a time, cause Repository Manager is showing me only the first 200 revisions. This is very time consuming.
    Is there another way to do this?
    Thx
    Tobi

    Use Archiver...
    Define your export query to cath all the 'Data Sheet' items
    make sue that you choose the option for All Revisions
    Then when you choose Export from the Actions menu tick the checkbox to delete items after export
    This way they will all be deleted and you will still have a handy back up of them in Archive on the file system - so if you need to you can restore.

    Hi
    Repository framework:
    Knowledge Management capabilities provides a central, role-specific point of entry to unstructured information from various data sources. This unstructured information can exist in different formats such as text documents, presentations, or HTML files. Workers in an organization can access information from different source such as file servers, their intranet, or the World Wide Web.
    The Repository framework(RF) integrates these data sources and provides access to the information contained in them through the portal.
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/webcontent/uuid/cacd8860-0a01-0010-a393-a7bdd1449487
    REpository managers:
    To integrate differnt type data source we need repository managers .
    e.g.
    we can configure internal repository like Content management repository managers:(CM)
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/weblogs?blog=/pub/wlg/284
    We can also configure external repository like file repository, lous notes repository etc.
    File repository maanger:
    By cofiguring file reposisitory we can access outside file systems through Knowledge management.
    We can use diffrent repository managers in the configuration like W2KSecurityManager
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/thread?threadID=560624&tstart=525
    The configuration for all the repository managers are provided by the SAP library.

  • BWF management and AAF export to Protools

    Hi everyone,
    I'm currently editing a feature film and I wanted to report some issues about BWF management and AAF export to protools.
    I was aiming to fill the feature request form, but seems it is not available in my area at the moment (Taiwan). I also tried to fill the form using a VPN with a US IP address and I didn't have much chance, so Im going to post it here hoping some people from Adobe will see it.
    BWF-P or BWF-M
    There is no problem in importing BWF-P files, but it would be very convenient if we could see the track names on the timeline (like if the track is the Boom, which wireless microphone...). Our sound engineer is recording from 3 to 8 tracks and he includes the track names in the metadata of his files. I like working on the sound when I edit, so it would help a lot to have this information appearing on the timeline.
    BWF-M management seems very poor to me. It is not possible to import BWF-M as one poly clips. Or is it possible and I don't know why? For the moment, if I have 5 tracks for 1 sound (it means I have 5 files in the finder named xyz_01.wav, xyz_02.wav, ..., xyz_05.wav) and if I import these five files, it will import in my premiere project as 5 different clips, when it should be able to make them as 1 clip with 5 tracks.
    AAF Export
    The way Premiere Pro export oaf could be much more intelligent.
    I always prefer to export separate files from the as, not embbed. I prefer copy complete files instead of doing handles. In this way, Premiere Pro just copy the BWF file exactly like it was, but rename it. The advantage is that we keep the metadata in this export, which is important for our sound designer who works on Protools HD 11.
    Usually, I will have from 3 to 8 tracks for on clip. The sound engineer recorded BWF-P. Quite often, I will cut one clip on the timeline to remove some undesirable sound like "Action", "Now"... I found out that Premiere will copy from 5 times the same file if there is 5 tracks. And each time, Premiere is copying the full BWF-P file, it means we'll have 5 identical files with 5 identical tracks, but with different names. And if the same clip is cut into different prices on the timeline, it will copy each time once again the same file with different naming convention.
    For a one hour timeline, my sound export took 1 hour and needs 12GB of storage, because Premiere is just copying many times the same file.
    I found out that the way Premiere is exporting is more suitable to use BWF-M, because at least, it won't copy five times the same tracks. But as mentioned above, Premiere seems to be very inconvenient when you want to import BWF-M files.
    Finally, I'm using merged clips to edit. When Premiere export the aaf and copy all the complete sound files, the naming convention follows the merged clip naming. It would make much more sense to follow the original files naming instead. Like this, if the aaf link to the original name files, then the sound editor might be able to simply link to his original media, which would be very convenient for editor and for sound department.
    AAF Translation to Protools.
    As the aaf export lots of identical files, it becomes a mess in protools. You can see the file 001_05_T05 is repeated a lot of time!
    The also exports the video timeline. It doesn't export the video files, but it shows all the cut of the film and also provides the names of all the clips I edited.
    Thats is very convenient for the sound designer, because he can see where I cut and what is the original video clip.
    The problem is that in our test, all the name clip appeared to be wrong. The cuts are correct, but not the names.
    Another issue is concerning the metadata. As Premiere is exporting 5 times the same files containing 5 tracks, Protools only shows the 1st track name instead of showing the correct one. For example, if track names were MKH60, 718m, 718s, HF_Actor1, HF_Actor2, Protools will show MKH60 on every tracks.
    I usually work very close to the sound department and I know they're going to loose lots of time to find out which track is which microphone, when it could be very simple, like when I export aaf from Avid.
    I much prefer editing on Premiere Pro, but also our sound designer can understand my decision to use Premiere Pro, he regrets the time I was using Avid.
    FEATURE REQUESTS (if not available yet):
    1) BWF-M better import management
    2) BWF Metadata management: import track names and add an option to show the track name directly on the timeline.
    3) AAF Export: Export files with the same name as the original BWF files. Possibility to really Link Media.
    4) AAF Export: Copy only time a BWF-P files that is used several time in the timeline and that contain several tracks.
    5) AAF Export: Fix the naming of the video clip that appeared to be wrong in Protools,
    CONCLUSION:
    Since Gone Girl, it appears that Adobe has the ambition to conquer the feature film market. I couldn't be more happy than that, and the improvements have been huge these past two years. I really enjoy working on sound in Premiere. The VST plugin implementation is great, much better than in Avid. The track audio mixer is great as well.
    But when we talk about exporting the project to sound department, it install not as good as it could.
    I hope Adobe can have a serious look on that.

    I've had several years of classical voice training, including singing in Italian, German, and French ... well, min Deutsch isn't too bad as I've had some years of  study and actually spent some time talking with Germans; my Italian is ... um ... well, I've been told an Italian can actually understand what I'm saying easily enough but would never mistake me for "real" ... (sigh) ... and my daughter, who took three years of French in high school started laughing one day whilst I was practicing with her listening to advise at the request of my voice teacher ( a near-native French speaker). "Daddy, I just figured out why your French is so weird ... you're not singing with an English (American, that is) accent, but a Norwegian accent!". Yes, I do speak some Norwegian ... way too little compared to what I could 20 years ago while visiting family & professional friends there.
    So ... post any further observations you've got on PrPro, questions too ... and as soon as the feature request line is working again, post away on there. "We'll" understand you just fine. Which is far more than I could say for a French person trying to understand my singing of it ...
