Laptop DAMAGED by Toshiba Depot!!!

I am so upset!  I sent my laptop for repair after fan and hard drive were about to fail to Toshiba Depot, they repaired that, so far so good.
BUT when I opened the box with my laptop, returned to me after repair, I realized that the front (of the chassis next to the touch pad) was BROKEN!!!     It was NOT like that when I sent it!
I hope you can see the pictures of the damaged I attached in a file below.... How can Toshiba Depot send it back in such condition???  They could have at least fixed their mistake.
I tried to contact by phone but no answer, and now I am waiting for a reply to the e-mail I sent them.

Thanks Jim, later today I will send you a private message with details and more pictures.
Yes, as of today I still got no answer.    I actually checked the package to verify the possibility of a damage during transportation. But I hardly doubt that is the case: it shipped overnight both ways with a sealed box authorized by Toshiba and both ways it was properly package (according to instructions on the box).  the box was one of those that inside covers the laptop with film and holds it in place.  I don't think the laptop has moved inside the box at all, so there was no possibility to damage the front the way it did.  Thinking about it, it looks to me that, when the front has been froced with something flat (a screwdriver perhaps) to lift-open the front of the computer that was not opening because the last screw on the left was probably holding the front of the chassis still tightened to some degree, the top of the chassis (in the front - which is weaker in structure then the bottom there: it bend more easily than the bottom) broke the way it did.  This is my analysis of the situation, but in addition, my 'educated' guess is that after insterting the tip of the flat screwdriver in between the bottom and top part of the case, the  guy twisted it clockwise.
I am very upset about this, so JimI truly hope you can help me. and thanks again for offering your help, I appreciate it.
Also I have a question for anyone who would happen know the answer:
A while back I had this same laptop fixed in Japan.  The Toshiba people over there changed the Hard Drive and re-uploaded the Vista system in Japanese (under my request).
Now that I have sent it for repair again, the Toshiba people in Kentucky changed the Hard Drive and fan as it states on the repair report I got with my computer back.  They also reloaded the factory setting (or whatever is loaded when a person changes a failing Hard Drive) with Vista system in English.  Now I get a message when I first enter Vista, that asks me to register my fingerprint in Japanese.  Why is that happening?  Wasn't the system reloaded in English?  Where is that information stored?
thank you for your answers.

  • Toshiba depot damaged my laptop

I just received my laptop back from toshiba depot. They had to replace a lcd mask. Well the technician id PPA1 must have used a drill to remove the screws, because i now have drill bit scratches in that area. My laptop now looks severely damaged , and worst yet the lcd back or the outer cover looks like someone used it to go snowboarding, with very bad and deep scratches.
What do i do, can someone please help me.
    Thanks in advance

Thanks, i already spoke to a case manager named Paulo, who was the rudest individual. He said he will have the depot send me a box to return it again for another repair. Then he hung up on me.
I will never buy another Toshiba again.
My brand new laptop is now all messed up, and looks like it came out of a garbage can. I have no idea a big corporation can do this to its customers. It seems like toshiba doesnt care about its customers.
The condition my laptop came back to me is alot worse than it was when i sent it in for repairs.
Is there a way i could complain to a corporate office. I have pictures of all the damages.

  • Laptop damaged during return / repair

I had to send my grandsons laptop back to Toshiba because the power cable kept blowing, received a call today from Toshiba saying the screen to the laptop has been damaged (crack on screen) and it will cost me 347 to mend, when the laptop was handed over to the courier Toshiba used (UPS) the screen was fine, somewhere while in the hands of UPS or Toshiba one of them has damaged the laptop and now Toshiba tells me it is not covered by the Warranty Extension. Can someone tell me who is at fault here. I have gone through the T&C or warranty and T&C of pick-up and repair and now where does it tell me that if it is not placed in a box by the courier who collects that the warranty is void. The caller from Toshiba has told me this. Any help would be welcome on this matter.

    Hi
In my opinion you should get in contact with the UPS or with Toshiba subsidiary which is located in your country and should explain your case again.
In my opinion the pickup service should be responsible for this if the screen has damaged during shipment.
Please post some details and feedback how the case has been resolved
Sorry but this is everything what I can suggest you
    Good luck mate

  • Laptop returned from service depot with a missing cap

I just had a ThinkPad T410s returned from a service depot here in Canada.  It was sent in to replace a small part on the underside of the laptop, which was repaired.  However, it came back with one of the screws on the display missing it's cover.  Based on some other posts I had read on here, I took pictures of the laptop when I packed it to go to the depot, so I know 100% that this part wasn't missing when I sent it in for service.
    Link to picture
I've called support and I asked them to just send me the cover so that I could snap it on.  However, they said they could not find a part # for it, so I'd have to send the laptop back to the depot for service again.  Can anyone on identify the kit that would contain this part so that I can avoid this?  In the service manual I see three different kits that include "Screw cap, thin" but I'm not sure if that's the part I need or not:
    75Y4472  Screw kit for T410s and T410si
    45M2673  Seal kit
    45M2674  LCD miscellaneous parts
I'm quite irritated that I have to deal with this at all.
    1) I don't know why they would have touched the LCD screen in the first place to replace a part on the bottom of the laptop.
    2) It demonstrates a lack of detail on the service depot's part: a workbench should be checked to make sure no parts are leftover that weren't there when the laptop was unpacked.  And even if the part was missing when it arrived, good customer service would be to replace it.

Lookup a local service authorized dealer in your area (lists from this site). Take it in and/or call and see what they can do. I would not let it out of my hands again or at least not to the same location.

  • Laptop damaged when sent for repair

Thought I better warn people about the appalling service I have recieved from Toshiba! I returned my laptop back to them for a repair under warranty. They arranged for UPS to collect my laptop on Monday and I was sent an email on Wednesday from Toshiba to inform me that they had recieved my laptop. On Friday I had a phone call to tell me that my laptop had been damaged. Apparently the hinge is broken and the metal and casing is badly bent and smashed on one corner. The laptop left me in perfect condition, apart from the touchpad not working which is why it was sent for repair.
Toshiba has told me that I am liable for the repair costs and are arguing that it was not packed properly, even though I followed their packaging reccomendations. They also said that it was not packaged in any bubble wrap, a complete lie as the bubble wrap was taped around the laptop.
I phoned UPS who say that Toshiba have not reported any damage and should have filed a report. I also found out that Toshiba do not take out insurance when laptops are shipped with them!! Had I of known this I would never have allowed my laptop to be sent to Germany! I requested photos of my laptop to be emailed to me and although no ones knows what's happened to it I suspect it's been unpackaged and later dropped by someone at Toshiba. It may explain why it took 2 days after arrival to report the damage to me and why Toshiba are refusing to report the problem to UPS!
I've contacted Trading Standards and have legal advice, I was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else? I wanted to let people know that when they're returning their laptops they are not insured for damage whilst shipping!

I'm from Es***, UK. It's really disappointing and inconvienient as I need my laptop for when I start law school next month.
I cannot afford to replace the laptop and from the pictures it's in a pretty bad state, so far I only know the cosmetic state and haven't been told whether its affected internally.

  • HP Pro Book Laptop - Damaged USB ports need replacement

Both USB ports are damaged. One is not working at al and the second one shows signs of failing also.
One local repair shop said these ports are not worthwhile to repair because of the cost. This has never happened before on the dozen computers I have owned in the past. This is my first experience with an HP computer.
    Please advise

Laptop USB ports are not user replaceable.  If the repair shop says it is not worth it, then either the laptop is real old or they do not want the work.  Model number please.

  • Experience going bad with Toshiba Depot Center

We have a Tecra R840 that has been sent to the depot in Louisville, KY (UPS Contract Repair Center?) twice for the same problem.  The first time, it came back in a week, but, the problem was not resolved.  It has been at the Depot since 8/16/12 without any progress on the repair, and no contact from Toshiba.  We are becoming concerned with this unit.  It only took a week for the unit to ship when it was originally ordered, but it takes much longer to repair?

    Hello Peter,
That is the site I have been using to check the status.  The status has shown "in repair" for weeks.  Is there someone I can call to get an idea as to when this unit might be coming back?  As you can imagine, having a computer out of service for this amount of time is troublesome.

  • Cost of replacing laptop screen through Toshiba

My daughter cracked the lcd crystals in my screen.  Does anyone know the cost of having Toshiba replace it?  I am afraid to do it myself.  Any info on this subject would be great.  Thanks!

Depending on what size it is about $450 and up.

  • Battery or laptop damaged??

Hello good sirs, i have this problem with my current laptop.
HP Pavilion dv6-6c10us, have it for like a year and a half now and this month im having problems.
Battery says it has like an hour left at full charge, but if i use the laptop disconected from AC power it just powers off, i try to turn it again and like in 5 minutes it turns off again, one thing i notice its that things like the backlight of the mousepad is turned on (i use it turned off), so i think its like the battery was unpluged.
the thing is that battery shows a hour left of energy and sometimes i can use it that time and sometimes it just shuts dows. I have used diagnostic tools on the laptops battery but everything says its ok.
any idea? Sorry for my bad english
    Thank you in advance.

    Hi yoko911,
The link GeorgeFN included in his post should have described how to calibrate the battery. In case of any confusion this link will open right to the Calibration instructions.
Manually calibrating the battery requires four steps: fully charge the battery, discharge or drain the battery, recharge the battery, and then run the battery test. This calibrates the battery so the battery gauge accurately displays the level of charge.
    I hope this helps.

  • What connection should I use to connect my laptop to a Toshiba tv

It's an XV model - please help!

Yes, that is just an adapter to enable you to use the HDMI lead, you will also need to connect the sound separately, that will depend on the connections your TV has, something like this http://www.amazon.com/PH62089-Stereo-Mini-Male-RCA-Male-Feet/dp/B0001GAOE0

  • No Warranty for LCD Pixel dead for a new Laptop Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-EZ1523

    Hey,
I bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro L300-EZ1523 Laptop in Oct 2009. In January 2010 My motherboard went dead so I have sent the laptop to the Toshiba Depot Center initially they said they will repair it and send it within 3 - 5 Business day but they took nearly 15 days to ship it back.
Once I have received there is the big surprise. One of the pixel on my screen is dead and I tired calling the Toshiba customer care at 1-800-457-7777 and the transfer the call to Depot center which takes nearly 40 to 50 mins to get an engineer on the call for which we need so much of patients.
Today I requested to transfer the call to the Case Manager and when I told her about the problem she again tells me to call the depot and file a case with them and the UPS for the damage and she also mentioned that there is no warranty covered for the LCD Screen.
But when I shipped the laptop to the Toshiba Depot I don't had any dead pixels. Im tired calling Toshiba can anyone help me out.
    Regards,
    Prem.

I got problem with my Toshiba tecra A9 laptop. There is thick black line at the corner of LCD, I contacted 2 toshiba service centers but they paased me to the Toshiba support. They said that Toshiba will not pay us for LCD repair and asked me to call toshiba support and ask for their autorisation. I also called toshiba support several times, but they just make me confused. They said randomly some bizzare phrases: the service centers should aks us for autorisation no., LCD did not coverd by warranty, You made a physical damage, contact another service center, we will contact you within this business day...
The reason I have bought Tecra model was that toshiba called it as bussiness class, and offered a 3 years limited warranty!!! But the warranty is a whole fake to cheat with the clients. They even do not care about business and dont understand how our professional life is depends to our laptop. such a shame for them.
They pay some employees to talk with you several hours, just to deny their warranty and don't give you a good service!
I wonder how they calculate the repaire cost of LCD. I already find wensite which offer the LCD just for 95$. There are lots of replacement guide all over internet. I will suggest toshiba that I can service them for LCD replacement for as low as 150$. That would be a good business for me and a big deal for toshiba! At least Toshiba will not loose their clients.
From my side, I will start to aware all student around me at university to never trust Toshiba quality and warranty services and do not risk their professional life with the toshiba product and services! It seems that Dell is going to be the leader in customer services and hence in future market!

  • Satellite A665 hard disc drive failure

My first A665-S6095 had a hard disc drive failure after about 2 months of use. First signs of failure were lockup and sometimes it would fail to system boot. I had to do several hard boots with on/off button to get Windows to start. Eventually Windows recognized HDD failure by SMART and displayed a warning message window at startup.
"SMART Failure predicted on Hard Disk".
Only fix is to replace the hard drive. Fortunately I purchased an extended warranty at Office Depot.

Me too.......  less than 2 months though, more like 45 days......
.... but I didn't spring for the warranty from CompUSA so now my laptop sits in Toshiba Depot Hell.
I'm giving them till the end of the week then telling them to ship it back broken and I'll eat the cost of a new hard drive.
The techie rolled his eyes when I told him it was a brand new Toshiba saying that he's seen more than a few.  I'm as equally upset with Toshiba's support and service as I am with CompUSA for selling these laptops with "known" issues.

  • Toshiba Laptop Battery Question

    I found a laptop battery called AGPtek - Laptop Battery for TOSHIBA C600D L750 L700 PA3816U-1BRS - Black - Black
Can anyone please tell me if it's compatible with my Toshiba Laptop? It's a Satellite C675D-S7101, which uses a PA3817U-1BRS Battery.

While I don't know if it would work with your computer or not I would strongly research the risks of buying third party batteries from brand names that are not widely known. Your laptop could have permanent damage to it if the battery is not the right voltage or something else funky goes on where a battery is not properly forumlated inside.
Currently one of the more reliable battery vendors that are on the market is Lenmar they have good warranties on their batteries.

  • Toshiba laptop won't keep Internet connectivity

I recently replaced my old laptop with a Toshiba Portege. I entered the WEP security code on the FIOS wireless router, and everything worked great for about a day, after which I was unable to connect wirelessly to the Internet. The laptop recognized and connected to the router (signal strength is excellent), but could not make a subsequent connection through to the Internet -- but it says there is limited connectivity and I kept getting a message that the network can't be identified.
I did not have this problem before with my old laptop, nor do I have any problem connecting my other mobile devices when at home (e.g., iPad; iPhone). This would all point to a problem with the laptop, except for the fact that I only have this problem when connecting the laptop wirelessly through the FIOS router at home. I travel quite a bit, and have never had a problem with my new laptop connecting to the hotel wireless network. I also have no issue connecting to the wireless network at my office.
Recently, I updated the BIOS on my laptop, and suddenly everything worked fine again -- my laptop connected to the router automatically and I was able to access the Internet without reentering my WEP security code (which proves that it was and is still correctly saved on the laptop). Unfortunately, this lasted only two days, and now am back to the "limited connectivity"/identifying network".
Verizon claims that it's an issue with the laptop and not the Verizon equipment (because other devices are able to connect). On the other hand, Toshiba claims that it's an issue with the Verizon equipment and not with the laptop, because the laptop is able to connect to all other wireless networks except for one of my home through the FIOS router. I suspect that Toshiba and Verizon are both right and wrong -- I think it's some specific incompatibility between my laptop and the Verizon equipment -- I just don't know what it is or how to correct it.
I don't know whether Verizon limits the number of devices/computers that can be logged on wirelessly to a home network and although it doesn't pick this up immediately, it eventually shuts down access. I'm just spit balling here, but I am at a total loss (and at the end of my rope).
Has anyone else had a similar problem (and can hopefully offer a solution)?
    Thanks.

Take a look at this thread,  this gentleman had a similiar problem (not toshiba, but the fix will be the same).
Give it a shot and let us know.
