Laptop won't turn on with AC cord attached or on battery power

My laptop recentlystopped working and now will not turn on.  Each time that I try to power on the blue lights flash for approx. 5 sec and then go off and that is it.  Any suggestions as to what this might be?  Thank you in advance

Things to try,  Remove your Main Battery Every time you touch Any Hardware!!
Make sure you know what kinda ram you have first..  DDR DDR2 and the correct speed.
Remove a stick of ram , If it has two.  Try each stick by itself.
If only one stick,  Borrow a stick from someone and try it.
Try removing Hard Drive if easy. and Turn it on
Try removing CDrom DVD rom and turn it on
If all else fails,  You need to open it up and find the Watch battery or Jumper to reset the BIOS.
Some tiny batteries are soldered to the Motherboard and can not be removed.
But if you short out the Battery connection for a second, it will still reset the bios.  DONT Try Yourself unless you know Hardware and what your looking at!

  • Laptop won't turn on

I was trying to do a secure delete on my Apple, but I couldn't figure out how. So I just started throwing everything in the trash.
Now my laptop won't turn on when I press the power button. Should I get an Apple restore disc?
What should I do? How do I fix this problem???

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
One easy way of secure deleting, or deleting in general (use mostly when delete a large number of files) is to put all the files in one folder (just create a random folder in Finder) > Press Control (ctrl) and click on the folder > Go down to move to Trash (in the popup menu) > Go to Finder > Secure Empty or Empty Trash.
Did you delete the files or did it just shut off? What exactly were you deleting? Languages, fonts; anything like that? You may want to look at Knowledge Base Document #106214 on Troubleshooting Startup Issues. Do you get any sounds or flashes of light (from the "sleep" light)? You may want to try booting up in Safe Mode (Knowledge Base Document #107393 on How to Startup In Safe Mode), or with the install discs.

My notebook blacked out & Charger keeps Turing green & orange & laptop won't turn on , I need your help.

Which model MBP do you have (15" late 2011, for example).
There are a number of things you could try - restarting in Safe Mode (start up with teh Shift key held down), resetting the SMC, etc., but I don't really think that those 'quick fixes' are going to help.
If I were you, I would just take the machine into your local Apple Store and have them run diagnostics on the unit. If it's out of warranty, they'll give you an estimate for repair and will charge you nothing for the diagnosis and estimate.
Sounds as if you've a hardware issue... maybe try running the Apple Hardware Test and see if you've any errors?
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • Hp laptop won't turn on at all.

I have no idea what model it is. Where do I find this in the machine.
The laptop won't turn on. I have changed the fuse in the plug but the wires are not getting warm.
I have no idea. When the battery is in and I try to turn it on the orange light flashes. However when I take the battery out and plug in to the wall and try to turn it on nothing. No light.

    Hi @Jillrich ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Notebook and getting a blank screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.

Have you tried a different walloutlet  or a borrowing a different AC adapter?

Please let me know how this goes.

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. When the screen goes blank power On again in the normal way.] It is absolutely/appsolutely safe! Now see if it charges normally and after a period try to turn it on again. If the batter has been drained it could take 20 minutes or so for it to show that it is charging.
Also considering if the battery need replacing!

    Try resetting the SMC

If it has a removable battery, try removing the battery.
If neither works, then you may need to bring it in for service.  Bring the power adapter as well, as you may be able to determine if it is the power adapter at fault, or the computer's power supply.

  • My iPod is stuck on the Apple logo and won't do anything! It won't turn on, doesn't give me the option to power it off, and to top it all off, it's not being recognized by my computer OR by iTunes when I plug it into my computer.

So yeah...last night I was checking out my iPod (bored at the in-laws) and all of a sudden the screen went blank and the only thing I can get it to do is have the black screen w/ the white apple logo on it. It won't turn on, doesn't give the the option to power down, it won't charge, AND it's NOT being recognized when I plug it into my computer. Not by iTunes OR my computer. I've tried holding down the top button and the home button at the same time...nothing. And since it's not being recognized on my computer, I cannot restart it or go back to factory settings. Someone please help! I've had it for 18 months so the warranty is no longer valid and I don't know how to fix it. THANK YOU in advance!

    - I would try placing the iPod in recovery mode and then see if iTunes will see the iPod.  try both with the iPod not connected to the computer and with it connect. For recovery mode see:
iPhone and iPod touch: Unable to update or restore
    - Next see if placing the the iPod in DFU mode will make it visible

My MacBook Pro 13" won't turn on 90% of the time I try to get it running, and when it does turn on, even on a charger, it shuts down if I stop using it for 2+ seconds and it won't turn back on. Should I replace the battery?  It doesn't hold a charge either...

    EmadJamal,
the battery won’t melt because of long connection to the AC charger, although that has the potential of reducing the battery’s life.
Do you have access to a second 60 W AC charger to test with your MacBook Pro, or access to a second 13-inch MacBook Pro against which your AC charger could be tested?

MacBook Pro won't stay asleep with external monitor attached.  When sleep is selected from the Apple menu the computer will go to sleep only to continually wake up...go back to sleep...wake up...etc. every few seconds.  This only happens when using the external monitor. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mine does that too. The worst thing is when it goes to sleep, then wakes up and keeps running while the lid is closed and it is wrapped up in a case. I am afraid when the hot weather comes it is going to burn up. I am hoping Apple fixes it in the software or they may have a melted MBP to replace.
Then when I open the lid it is crashed running at fill tilt, pumping out heat to beat the band. I am forced to hold the button down and reboot.
I wiped my hard disk and reinstalled my OS, but it didn't help. I reversed my OS to 10.5.0 and it solved the DVI problem but still won't sleep. This post will probably be deleted by Apple, they did it a few days ago. I just don't know what to do, and I consider myself a real Apple expert. Just hoping you realize you are not the only one.

  • Macbook Pro 15" won't turn on with battery or with power cord

I have a refurbished Macbook Pro, which I believe is a 2009 model. The battery recently was completely drained, and I plugged it in to charge, but all I got was the green light on the power cord. The battery refuses to charge, and I'm not sure if it's possible to run without the battery in, but I tried it and the computer won't start up at all. I tried an SMC reset, but don't think anything happened. Is this a fixable problem, or do I need to take it in?
OS 10.7.5 just FYI, I would provide other specs but I don't know off the top of my head and as per my situation, I cannnot check them.

  • Laptop won't boot up WITH PICTURE

Hello! I'm sorry if this has been asked before; I tried to search for words that might be related, and it returned way too many for me to read through, or to guess if they're having the same issue as I am.
I have a A505D-S6968 Satellite laptop.  It is three years old, and I use it every day as I'm a graduate student.  For the past couple days, I go to turn the laptop on, and it won't boot up.  The power light is on, a bank of lights at the top near the base of the screen, a light near the bottom, and the charging lights on the lower right corner.  The fan is running, and the CD/DVD drive makes a sound.  However, that's where it stops.  The screen doesn't display anything and there is no glow from it at all.  The keyboard is supposed to light up, and it doesn't.  The mousepad doesn't light up or work.  So it seems like there's power being provided to it in some respects, as a few lights come on, the fan comes one, and the CD/DVD drive "checks".
Here is a picture of it misbehaving:
Any ideas as to what could be going on?  I let it sit, turned completely off, all night, because I figured I'd just deal with it later.  I had tried for an hour to get it to start and it wouldn't; it just sits like that indefinitely.  But this morning, it booted up just fine.
Now I'm afraid to ever turn it off again!
Again, I apologize if this has been asked a million times, but I can't read all of the descriptions and try to guess if what they're describing is what is going on with mine.  Any help or ideas are appreciated!
    Thank you!
    Grace & Peace,
    Kristen

Try steps 2 and 3 of this article.
What can I do if my Windows 7 or Windows Vista laptop won't start?
If it still doesn't work, it sounds like it may be due to hardware failure that would require servicing.

  • My laptop won't turn on!!!

Hi everyone, I left my laptop on hibernate and once I got back home it won't turn on I have a P55-A5200 laptop. What do I need to do?

    wd5rcc wrote:
I have the same problem with the P55-A5200.  It went to sleep and will not power back on.  The power LED light is on but the laptop will not wak up, power adapter is tested and so is the power outlet.  I tried the memory slot trick and didn't work.  My battery is internal, no battery to take off and put back on.  What now???Hi. It is my first message here. I registered just to add my solution into this topic. I had that problem exactly after similar stuff. My laptop was in use without power on battery and I was going to sleep. On battery it went to sleep mode in half hour, I think, but at the morning I was unable to switch laptop on. My model is new, 1 month old today, Toshiba Satellite L50D Black. When I turned it on, screen was black, not even Toshiba logo and all lights were on (eg. power, caps and num lock, also battery and wifi indicators). Also fan was going strong, but no boot. I was searching the whole Internet, but since there is no removable battery, most of guides to reset stuff I found pretty useless for me. Even Toshiba's info about Reset hole, but I was unable to locate it on this item, because I think it is not available in this model. I was about to go back to shop from where I purchased this, but I choosed to let PC go open without power, only on battery until battery goes zero. You will know that when lights will go off, so battery is empty then. Now when it is finally empty, put it into charge, push on/off button and your laptop finally boots and works normally. At least this happened to me. I hope it will never do again this stuff. So far, in love with this piece. I hope this helps someone. Have a nice day.
