  • Procedure for update ACS 5.4.0.46.0a with cumulutative patch in large deployment

    Hi,
I try to find the info within the CCO website but fail.
All docs I found on the site is Upgrading for 5.3 to 5.4  or 5.4 to 5.5
In my case I would like just apply cumulutative patch to my existing 5.4 running deployment.
    5.4.0.46.0a to 5.4.0.46.6
My main concern is I use a large deployment scenario with multiple secondary server and one log collector.
The upgrade procedure mention, de-register all server one by one and change the log collector to be a standalone primary server.
Which cause me more downtime, loss of some logs, ...
For applying patch (update not upgrade), I think I can just use the pacth procedure and leave the setup as it is as I don't upgrade or change the database structure.
Update each server whenever the role he as (secondary, primary, log collector) one by one by just issue the :"acs patch install" command.
Does anyone have a advise or a past experience about update large deployment setup.
    Thanks for your help.
    Steve

    Hi Minakshi,
I perform the update before your post and I test without deregister all server.
    So far, all was good.
I had no issue and the update tooks me very less time without following the full UPGRADE procedure.
The command had also a rollback for the update, so I take the risk.
This is certainly not the case for upgrade but update seems to easier.
    Kind regards.

  • BI server is not starting when deploying upgraded RPD

    Hi,
I am new to OBIEE 11g. In my project I hv an existing 10g rpd. I upgraded it to 11g .5 version. I restarted all the services. When I deploy upgraded RPD, biserver is getting down. But if i deploy SampleAppLite.rpd(oracle provided) ,all services are starting. only for my rpd bi server is getting down.
I am not sure where it could be the problem..
    Pls help.
    Thanks,
    Smita

    Hi,
This is a behaviour change when we move from 10g to 11g. In BI EE 10g, there was no Oracle Client bundled along with BI EE. So, BI EE will use your Oracle DB Home client to connect to the database. Generally no issues in that case. But in BI EE 11g, the software itself contains the 11.2 DB client. So, when you try to connect to the database through the Repository or BI Server, it will try to find the tnsnames entry in the Oracle Client of BI EE 11g instead of your database. There are 2 options to work around this
    1. Copy your tnsnames.ora to {Oracle_BI1}\network\admin directory & {oracle_common}\network\admin directory (only the former is needed as that is the ORACLE_HOME)
    2. Or instead of tnsnames.ora source entry, use the full expanded tnsnames as shown below
    (DESCRIPTION =(ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = 172.16.66.173)(PORT = 1521))(CONNECT_DATA =(SERVER = DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME = orcl)))
Both of the above will work.
    For More info:
Cannot connect to Database from the OBIEE 11g upgraded RPD

  • Very Large Deployment Packages

    Hello,
I have a couple ADRs for Updates that have very large deployment packages upwards of 12GB.  These ADR's are downloading many updates for many OSs and just keeps adding them to the deployment packages.  Is there a best practice on how to better
manage updates using ADR's and there deployment packages?
    Thanks.

    Hi,
    1. Create a new software update group each time an automatic deployment and for general deployment.
    2. Use an existing software update group for automatic deployment rules for Endpoint Protection definition updates

  • Filr 1.1 Large Deployment Install Log Cleanup

Just installed large deployment option of filr 1.1... all seems to work fine. I have read a few places in the documentation that the filr administrator should routinely delete log files from /var on the search appliances and the filr appliance...Does anyone have a best practice on doing this without periodic manual intervention.. I was thinking of creating a cron job to maybe delete all the log files in these log directories... Anyone have a "best practice" idea on how they may do this currently ?? or any suggestions of a better way ?... and any other locations of log files that should be routinely cleaned out
    Thanks in advance

If you're using Filr 1.1 then that should have log rotation configured.
There is TID 7014626[1] which covers this for Filr 1.0.x.

  • Ise distributed deployment upgrade

My customer has an ISE deployment with 4 nodes: Admin/Monitor Primary and Secondary plus 2 Policy Server. The Admin nodes are VMs, the Policy nodes are 3315 appliances.
The system was installed almost three years ago with the version 1.1.0 ... It appears the system never had issues so never was patched or upgraded. Why fix something that is working fine?
Today there was an issue because the certificates expired, so in the review to get the system up and running again, the update issue bring on to the conversation. We like to do an upgrade to the last supported version. So I wonder for some tips and ideas to take care for planning the upgrade.
    I have some doubts:
Can the 3315 appliance support the release 1.3 without issues?
I know the upgrade procedure is basically installing a .tar file, but I'm not clear how the process in a distributed deployment should be. I had run upgrades in standalone systems, but never in a distributed deployment. So, I need to upgrade the Primary Admin only and the other nodes would upgrade automatically?
I would need to upgrade 1.1 to 1.2 first and then 1.2 to 1.3?
I undertand release 1.1 was in 32 bits, and the version 1.2 and 1.3 are in 64 bits, so I guess the process would take a long time (perhaps a couple of hours), so a maintenance window would need 3 or 4 hours until the full system became stable.
Can you give me some advice and suggestions to avoid major issues?
    Regards.
    Daniel Escalante.

Can you give me some advice and suggestions to avoid major issues?
Documents related to upgarde were given by Venkatesh refer those. Along with that additional information.
Can the 3315 appliance support the release 1.3 without issues?
    Cisco ISE-3315-K9 (small) 3
    Supports ISE 1.3
    Any
    1x Xeon 2.66-GHz quad-core processor
    4 GB RAM
    2 x 250 GB SATA4 HDD5
    4x 1 GB NIC6

When upgrading to Cisco ISE, Release 1.2, first upgrade the secondary Administration node to Release 1.2. You do not have to manually deregister the node before an upgrade. Use the application upgrade command to upgrade nodes to Release 1.2. The upgrade process deregisters the node automatically and moves it to the new deployment. If you manually deregister the node before an upgrade, ensure that you have the license file for the Primary Administration node before beginning the upgrade process. If you do not have the file on hand (if your license was installed by a Cisco partner vendor, for example), contact the Cisco Technical Assistance Center for assistance.
I would need to upgrade 1.1 to 1.2 first and then 1.2 to 1.3? I undertand release 1.1 was in 32 bits, and the version 1.2 and 1.3 are in 64 bits, so I guess the process would take a long time (perhaps a couple of hours), so a maintenance window would need 3 or 4 hours until the full system became stable
If you are on a version earlier than Cisco ISE, Release 1.2, you must first upgrade to 1.2 and then to 1.3.
You can upgrade to Cisco ISE, Release 1.2, from any of the following releases:
Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.0.665 (or 1.1.0 with the latest patch applied)
Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.1.268 (or 1.1.1 with the latest patch applied)
Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.2, with the latest patch applied
Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.3, with the latest patch applied
Cisco ISE, Release 1.1.4, with the latest patch applied

  • PI Upgrade checklist

    Hello,
We have a planned upgrade from XI3.0 to PI7.1 and we need to provide an estimation of efforts for support during upgrade.
Unfortunately,we don't have experience for such upgrade.
Also, currently our Seeburger version is 1.7.4,please let us know if this needs to be upgraded as well.If this is the case, which version would be compatible with PI7.1?
Can anyone please provide a checklist of the activities need to be performed or a link where we can get such a document?
    Thanks a lot in advance.

Sorry to ask so many questions, but migration of scenarios will be done one by one.How does this take place?
No worries, that's why we have this forum
migration of scenarios will be done one by one.How does this take place?
Best approach is to migrate non-SAP to non-SAP interfaces; it will be best to implement a single scenario first with all of its attendant interfaces. This could be migrated and tested very quickly. This would offer a high probability of success with low risk.
If this was not a migration project, then an alternative, of course, is to leave the scenarios as they are during the migration and promotion to production, and then to create a new version of the scenario objects and test the new features in that version. This would definitely be the recommendation if the existing system were being directly upgraded. Since they are being migrated, however, it would be easy to test the new feature in a development or sandbox system during the migration.
I hope, our mappings will still be usable. We extensively use RFC lookups, what will happen to such UDFs?
There shouldn't be any issues with RFC lookups. You can still re-use the same UDFs.
Also,we use CMS for transport, and that would change to CTS,is this correct?

  • Analyzer 5.0.3 web client - large deployment

Has anyone deployed Analyzer 5.0.3 web client to a large population. We have over 100 users - it could go as high as 1400 in the future. When adding a new Essbase cube (we are using Essbase 6.1 p2), we have to add the new cube to each individual user id, then click properties of the cube and type in the users essbase user id, password, and confirm password. We use option 3 in this dialog box because the Analyzer web client users do not have the Essbase client on their desktop. They initially change their Analyzer password, but their Essbase password stays the same permanently. This whole process of adding a cube is very time consuming and basically a long typing exercise. If we deploy the Analyzer web client to our entire company, it will be a nightmare to add a cube. I want to know how other companies are handling this situation.

Try using the UsrUtil.exe. Check the docs on it, then build a text file (.cmd) containing the scripted user accounts you wish to create. I had all the users and user info entered into an oracle table first, then ran a short Java app over it to extract the user information, building the .cmd file that was run to create all the new users. for about 1000 users, it took about 10 minutes.robb

  • Deploying upgraded Project to Server

    Hi,
Last year we upgraded our RoboHelp Projects to X5 from X3. I
made the upgrade on all local PCs used to edit but I never deployed
the new .xpj versions files to the Server in Production. We can
still deploy pages but I did run into an issue recently and was
wondering if that might be related to the fact that we upgraded the
Project (xpj) but didn't deploy it to the server.
I was recently contacted by individuals we make updates for
their OLH pages. I was asked to change the Title in the Task bar
above the page like you see in any Browser's top horizontal
frame/tab. So I proceeded to make the change through the Project
Title options menu and saved and redployed the .hhp file where I
believe this change occurs. However, I never saw the change in
Production and was wondering could it be that certain changes,
beside page edits, are related to the original settings of the
project that were first created and the old settings are sitting on
the server because either the new upgraded prj needs to get
deployed or some new file that is created through X5 needs to be
deployed? I don't know what is preventing me from making Project
settings changes on the server after I have deployed them. By the
way I can see the tile change in the Compiled primary preview
within RoboHelp. The change can also be seen in the deployed .hhp
    file in notepad.
    Please Advise.

    Wow! Where to start?
    1. Open the destination.xpj project in Program Files\RoboHelp
    Office\RoboHTML\Tutorial\Destination.
    2. Generate WebHelp output (already set as Primary Layout) to
    the default folder (\!SSL!\WebHelp\destination.htm.
(IMPORTANT! RoboHelp will actually newly create the
destination.htm as its "start page," which is: a) the page that
contains frameset and browser information, but none of your
content; b) named by you (most applications use the browser
standard "index.htm" instead of using the project's name as the
    default).
    3. In addition to viewing the resulting output, take a look
at the folder and file structure under \!SSL!\WebHelp\. The only
file here with a "whstart" name is a JavaScript file created and
used by RoboHelp for its output presentation. ALL of the files
under this folder umbrella must be provided into the area where
users will access them. IMPORTANT: The output files should never be
involved with VSS at all! VSS, after all, is a
    Source Control product; therefore, only
source files should be checked in/checked out (except for
the CPD, HHP, LDB, and PSS files).
    4. Now right click on "Single Source Layouts > Microsoft
HTML Help" and select "Set as Primary Layout".
    5. Generate HTML Help output to the default folder
    (\!SSL!\Microsoft_HTML_Help\destination.chm).
    6. In addition to viewing the resulting output, take a look
at the folder and file structure under \!SSL!\Microsoft_HTML_Help\.
Hopefully, this will give you and your people a better view
of just how you're repeatedly shooting yourselves in the foot. I
mean, really, you're killing yourselves with this totally
    unorthodox use of the product.
    Good luck,
    Leon

  • Large deployment issues

    Hi,
What would be considered to be a "large" application in terms
of numbers of beans (entity, session) ? I know this may not have a simple answer.
For example, and application that we are considering (J2EE, EJB etc. etc) for
development will have over 250 entity beans and will initially have 40-50 session
beans (this number will creep up over time).
The question here is what type of resources (hardware, software - clustering etc.)
options would we need in order to deploy such an application and also support
a max simultaneuos user number of 200 people ?
Does anyone know of any info on the net ?
    Thanks,
    Raju

    Hi,
I understand that its really the load (# users, # db calls/transactions etc.)
that will really determine whether or not the app will scale.
    To be more specific :
    1. How long would it take to startup the app server if there are over 300 beans
? (I will probably test this one out this week)
    2. Does the number of beans present a challenge / performance issue with regard
to ONLY the sheer number of beans deployed ?
    3. This may be a strange one, but does anyone have an idea on "numbers" for EB
caching that weblogic can accomplish ?
I know that this will be dependent on physical memory, but does anyone have any
    stats on this ?
    Thanks much,
    Raju
    "Cameron Purdy" <[email protected]> wrote:
Depending on the number of support classes, etc. those 300 EJBs will
probably consume less than 2MB overhead. That's not a small application,
    but
it isn't a particularly large application either.
It's not really a question of how many EJB components you have, but how
    many
instances get used at runtime. And that is 100% dependent on how the
    app is
    written.
As far as performance, that is dependent mostly on the number of database
calls and secondly on the number of network ops if the tiers are not
    collocated.
As far as scalability, that is dependent mostly on the number of database
    calls.

  • Upgrading checklist for 10gr2

    Hi all,
I am preparing for a upgrade project Oracle database from version 9i (standalone instance with non-ASM) to 10g R2 (using RAC and ASM). The platform is moved from x86 server to IBM Power server.
I need typical checklists for this upgrade to follow, and upgrading is easier. So, would you like provide some typical checklists which can be applied in this case?

    Hi,
When we deploy an application for the first time, the installation scripts would create the necessary tables.
If the application details change and needs to be deployed as an incremental installation, do we have to remove the previous installation scripts and create new ones with only UPDATE statements (say)?

Take a look at the Deployment section of the help -

    Hi,
i  have 4 X ACS-1120. Each 2 are operating as an Primary and backup. I  want to add a license in order for the ACS to support more than 500  networks which includes in the base license.
As I understand this is the license required : L-CSACS-5-LRG-LIC=
Is this license applicable to ACS-1120 appliance with ver 5.2 ? – I understand that it is.
for my scenario, do I need to purchase total of 2 X L-CSACS-5-LRG-LIC=  (one for each environment, one license will serve 2 X ACS in Primary  and Backup) or I need to purchase 4 licenses each for each ACS ? – I  understand that one license will serve deployment of two ACS in primary  and active scenario.
    Appreciate your help,

The large license is required for ACS 5.2 with more than 500 devices
You need one license for each primary; so in your case two license are required

  • Exclude Servers for Automatic Client Deployment/Upgrade

We have 2012 SP1 and are planning the move to R2.  We have automatic client upgrade enabled in the site settings.  Is there a way to exclude Server OS client upgrades while this feature is enabled?  In my reading there are times when the client
upgrade will reboot the systems at will due to a pre-requisite installing such as a security update.
We cannot have the servers rebooting at will.  It will be difficult enough to have workstations do it.
    Thank you

No. There is no way of excluding specific systems from the automatic client upgrade. It's all or nothing.
