Left speaker output failed, gigaworks s750

I have seen this problem on the forum before, here is one instance: http://forums.creative.com/creativel....id=70289#M493
I havent seen any solutions.
Setup:
Asus n78x-e deluxe motherboard with 5.1 capability
Usually i have it plugged: rear-> line in, front ->normal center/sub-> microphone
These speakers have worked fine for at least 6 months now, perfectly. Great sound output on ALL of the speakers. Today, was listening to some music, when my rear left speakers just stopped producing sound. So currently, my left rear, and left side speakers are not working. The speakers themselves actually work fine, as I have tested them with the center output, and the right outputs. None of the other speakers seem to work when plugged into left rear or left side. There is some sound, but it's significantly muted.
Help please!
Thanks,
Aric
PS: This also happened in my old speakers megaworks50, and i think it has something to do with a connection in the sub. I really don't want to have to deal with that. I'm hoping there's an easier solution thatn trying to RMA this. Perhaps i could open up the sub and just fix the connection? Whatsup with creative and having rear left speaker issues? I've read like 6 other posts now about the same type of problem.

Temporary fix... turn the rear left audio channel down to nothing and you have a 6.1 system that wont crackle as much, but the sub will still distort anything without channel selecti've output (like single channel mp3).
Same here tho, quite a few people have posted about it, creative denies its a problem but i am seeing it more and more online reports and even my own customers (i tune high performance pc's) are having problems.
the left rear channel just "gives up" after a certain amount of use it seems. i have since cracked mine open and i cant see anything visually wrong (other than the anti-tamper warrenty seals are pointless to anyone with knowledge of moddelling paint and varnishes), just a odd smell that might be bad wiring or good cheese.
creative have so far told me (depending on what call centre i phone us/uk/eu) that its either my drivers, a failing Audigy2 ZS or abuse of the sub (ie max bass and vol(whats the point of leting people choose a setting that will blow up the product?)) basically anything that doesnt require them giving me an RMA.
I suggest everyone with the problem goes to a real shop, buys a set, swaps the speakers out of the box with the broken ones and takes them back again for a refund. then flog the good speakers on ebay and go buy an amp and a bunch of car speakers from halfords, knock them together with some duct tape and viola, a higher quality product.
(ps, i have a bad habbit(i love paranthesis))

I've looked everywhere for cables that have the raw exposed wire on one end to connect to the back of the speaker and the single rca jack that goes into the subwoofer. Anyone have any ideas on this?

  • Both left speaker and headphone output not working

I noticed a week ago that the left headphone audio output wasn't working, and shortly after I realized that my left speaker wasn't working either. I thought maybe it was a matter of updating some software, but everything is up to date. Anyone encouter this problem before?

    Solved my own problem,
System preferences - sound- output- balance.
Strange thing is I don't recall adjusting those settings. Hope this is helpful to anyone else who has this issue!

  • Creative Gigaworks S750 speaker placement

    Hey Guys,
As I get deeper into how to improve the sound on my Gigaworks S750 I'm starting to experiment with proper speaker placement.
So far, I have the four floor stands for the side and rear channels.
And going by the book I have the side channels slightly past and behind where my ears are, and they are pointed toward each other, and not directly at my ears.
The two rear speakers are both behind me, but pointed straight toward the front of my room, and not directly toward my ears.
Is this how they are supposed to be? Or should the sides be right at my ear level and right to either side of my ears? Same with the rears? Should they be angled in toward my ears at my seating position?
The diagram in my manual doesn't seem to indicate that the speakers get angled toward the listener except the front center above the monitor.
But other sites all seem to want the speakers angled at the listener, unless these Creatives are doing something different to create the surround sound field?
Here's an industry diagram vs. the Creative manual.
Creative diagram for Gigaworks S750, unfortunately I can't scale it up larger, but refer to page 6 by scrolling down in the manual located at the link below.
    http://www.scribd.com/doc/14711901/C...ks-S750-Manual
So which is the most optimal for my speakers? I'm using option A for my setup in the Creative Manual right now, but just want to know what I should be doing to have the sound setup correct for these speakers.

  • Gigaworks S750 + Audigy1 - Only hear left channel in left and right speakers

Since last week I'm the proud owner of a gigaworks S750. Since my new computer went RMA I decided to hook it up on my old computer with an Audigy (SB Audigy E400) audio card.
The original Audigy drivers come with this test program that tests all channels saying "front left", "front right" etc etc through the respecti've speakers.
However, when running this test program I hear the "front left" message through both the front speakers, and the "rear left" message through both the side speakers.
The "front right" and "rear right" messages I don't hear.
I've been looking through the settings of the audigy and reading the manual of the Gigaworks set, but nothing turned up.
My old Philips 4.1 speakerset did not have this problem, so my guess is it's something with the gigaworks.
    Thanks

U sure the speakers are set to 7.1 ? BTW u need Audigy 2 ZS or Audigy 2 Platinum to make all your speakers make the correct sounds. BUY A NEW SOUNDCARD!!!

  • GigaWorks T40 - left speaker isn't working.

    Hello,
i've just got new GigaWorks T40.
The problem is the left speaker that isnt working.
Speakers were connected to CPU and MP3 (Creative Zen), there was same problem on both.
Is it possible to be fixed, or i have to return them to shop?

    Hi Anteaus,
Where did you purchase your T40, the Creative Online Store or your local retail outlet?
It would be advisable to contact the place of purchase and ask for an exchange to take advantage of your warranty.

  • Ideal power supply protection for gigaworks s750 speaker system

anyone please help me decide on what to buy to protect my gigaworks s750 speakers from power surges or instability.
actually, i'm confused with what to buy, AVR or UPS and what capacity, 500, 000 or 500 watts/va.. Here in our place, the power supply is not consistent that for such reason I feel the need to secure my s750 speakers, especially that it's quite expensive.
Also, does anyone know how much power (if i'm right, it's expressed in watts) the s750 consumes, assuming it operates continuously in one hour? Thanks in advance.

  • Gigaworks S750 Rear Speaker Problem

I am having problems with the rear left speak channel. I have swapped the speaker with another one and so I know its not the actual speaker, more likely the chanel or the setup. I have cheked all wire and they are fine. Any ideas?

I've found that all the connections are very fiddly - both into the sub and into the actual speakers. It might sound silly but disconnect and then reconnect everything. It seems to bring out a different sound quality everytime i do this. I've had problems with the side rears before now, but this method cured it.

  • Output sound moves to the left speaker randomly

Howdy. I have a weird issue. I just installed the new firmware, everything is fine, except i went to test the sound vloume before and after the firmwre upgrade to see if it actually went up. After the upgrade I noticed that my speakers werent aligned properly, so my volume test was pretty much a failure. no big deal. BUT this isnt the first time that the speaker orientation of whatever has migrated to the left on its own. I once thought the headphone jack was broken cause i could hear sound only mostly in the left. and then i noticed a day after that the left speaker was louder too. I went to the sound preferences and seen thatthey were changed. I didnt even know this option existed so it wasnt me who changed it and no one uses my macbook but me.. This was 2 weeks ago. Today I found that the same thing happened again and it was all shifted to the LEFT.
Anyone know what is going on? I'm not changing it. Is there a shortcut key I dont know about that could be doing this? Is this happening to anyone else? Maybe everyone should check to see if its already like this, maybe thats why its quiet for everyone. It's significantly louder when the speakers are centered, i just dont know why it jumps..

Since I posted the question I have found my manual and do see what KC is talking about but what is the pinhole next to the earphone jack then?  its not labeled in the manual, as far as I can see.
    It certainly is labeled.
    Open the link I gave.
    It is the "Top microphone"
The other is the "Bottom Microphone"
Both are clearly labeled in the manual.

  • Gigaworks S750 Power Requirements

    Hi,
I'm planning to purchase the Gigaworks S750 to use in my car, which I can link up to the X-Fi PCI Card I have in my car's computer system and I was wondering what the power requirments were.
Could someone please post details on the Gigaworks S750 power supply:-
Input and Output; Voltage, Current, Frequency and any other possible details.
Hopefully this system might be able to run of the power inverter I currently have installed, which takes 2V from the battery, converts it up to 240V then the PC and Power Supply for my current Inspire System converts it to the required amounts for input.
I was expecting to have to upgrade my power inverter, as it's only 600W constant and 800W at peaks. The PC System takes away around 250-350W leaving only 250-350W for the speaker system.
I expect I'll be upgrading to a KW Power Inverter, but if needed I can always go with the 2.5KW Inverter; just hope my cars alternator can produce enough juce.

Thanks for the info, that's all I needed to know. Looks like the Gigaworks S750 is going to need between 660W-720W of power, so a KW inverter should cover it.
I've considered using a car audio set-up, but they typicaly only have 2 channels. Atleast with the Gigaworks S750 I'll be able to expereince the full 7.1 surround sound experience. I'm probably not going to be going to keep my X-Fi card for long though, it's entertainment proccesor has gone faulty and I no longer have any Rear-Left sound for some strange reason? So I've switched it to the gaming mode proccesor for the time being and all channels are now working once again.
Personally, I think the X-Fi is too advanced for it's own good, so I'm going to RMA it and downgrade to a slightly less advanced 7.1 sound card, which hopefully won't encounter those sorts of problems. As I've done some re-search and people have had all kind's of problems with X-Fi sound cards.
Thanks for the recomendation though, but I find the computer far more usefull than any other car audio set-up's. I have wireless internet access which automattically connects to the nearest wireless access point, typically with-in 50 meters, using a 9Dbi antenna. The computer also has a DVD player, TV and FM Radio, a 60GB hard disk, a small touch screen LCD mounted on the dash, GPS with voice directions and many other random features which I personally would rather not do with out.

  • Gigaworks S750 cables for the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Card?

    Hey guys,
I got a nice Gigaworks S750 7.1 speaker system and want to use it with my new X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro card. The Fatal1ty pro has analog outputs for a 7.1 sound system, but the Gigaworks doesn't have the same layout. Can anyone help me find the cables I need to get this setup running?

    Hi,
There are 4 Line Outs on the X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro card.
Line Out 1 jack - Connects to the Front Left and Front Right inputs
Line Out 2 jack - Connects to the Side Left and Side Right inputs
Line Out 3 jack - Connects to the Front Center and Subwoofer inputs
Line Out 4 jack - Connects to the Rear Left and Rear Right inputs
You might want to refer to the user manual of the sound card and speakers system for more information.
You can still utilize the suppiled 7.1 cable. Just leave out the grey connector (side speakers) and use a single 3.5mm cable to hook up both ends.

  • Creative Labs What Is Wrong With Your Manufacturing!!!??!?! RE: Gigaworks S750, XFI e

Ok this is a straight forward RANT! In building my new computer I decided to let Creative be my folks for sound since I've always been impressed with the EAX and surround sound, the first time I played EQ in 4. 3D sound on a first gen SBLi've card I was in awe. I've bought so many speakers and sound cards since and been happy. So I decide with my new computer I will buy the XFI Fatality, Progamer headphones with mic, and the Gigaworks s750 7. speakers. Well I got the headphones and the sound card first, right off the headphones left side sounded blown out to me, so I sent them back, and the new pair worked fine. The XFI card became the issue next I had the cracking and popping noises, I made a few tweaks and was able to kill most of it, but I have 4 gigs of Ram and when I turn on the memory hole in the bios so that XP Pro 64 can see the 4 gigs brings back the popping noises. So I have to turn of 2 gigs of ram that cost me over $300 so I don't have nasty noise when I play games. Oh yea and I sent the card back as well in hopes I'd get a repaired one.... No Such Luck... So then I get to my speakers, the left rear channel is making a sound like a blown speaker so I swap the plug with another channel and its fine and the other speaker in that channel makes the noise, so I send back the sub as a RMA at a cost of $30 to me (not like giving them $800+ for broken stuff isn't bad enough... nothing like salt on the wound.) So after 2 weeks of no sound other than headphones for my gaming, I get my sub back, I hook it up and.... Now the left rear channel is totally DEAD. So now I'm PISSED, I call up and hold it together when talking to the RMA folks. They offer to send me a whole new set of speakers, so I'm thinking cool, maybe its in a cable or the box or something.... Today I get home from work and see the box, I'm like sweet new stuff and spend a good hour carefully rewiring my whole desk with the new speakers and cables. Get it all hooked up and click on the sound test for the 7. and........ The Side Left Channel is DEAD WTF!!!!!!
!!! All I can say is it sucks there is no real competition for sound against Creative, because they know their product will be the demand and if they put out a poorly manufactured item they can get away with only so many people will even bother RMAing and will just li've with it thinking they did something wrong. I am truly disturbed by this trend and can only hope that after I actually get everything working in 6 months or so if they ever fix the noise issue with XFI and maybe a few more RMAs of my sub to get one they TEST before sending it to me... I hate to say it but I think next comp I build I'm going to have to start looking at other sound companies. Its sad to lose faith in a company you hold in such high regards for so long as pioneers. • GigaWorks S750 with DDTS-100 Decoder - Center/Sub channel not working.

I have the S750 with the DDTS decoder and everything was working fine until the other day. I have tested several times and from what I can tell there is no signal being sent from the sub to the decoder from the Center/Sub channel wire (S750 sub) to the decoder. Plugging the center speaker wire into the left speaker jack will produce a test signal so I know it is not the speaker. Seems the sub has gone out along with the center channel. I checked the fuse and all is well. Please help...
