Lenovo T400 Vista Ultimate 64-bit - Fingerprint reader not working

I just recently upgraded from Vista Business 32-bit to Vista Ultimate 64-bit and after installing all the drivers and whatnot, I noticed the only thing not working is the fingerprint reader.
I'm using Lenovo Fingerprint Software Version: 3.3.2.27
which is the right version.
I can't seem to find the driver for the fingerprint reader ANYWHERE for Vista 64-bit. Is the driver included in the software? Do I have to download it separately? If so, where? If not, then why isn't it working?!

This is the Vista 64 version of the FPR driver. It should work...

  • T410i - Windows 64-Bit - Fingerprint reader not working

Hi Everyone, when i visit device manager it says my Biometric devices are operating correctly.
    Specs - T410i, windows 7, 64-bit
When i click on Biometric devices in control panel, it says "Unavailable"
When i try to setup fingerprint reader using the thinkvantage software it says "Cannot enroll User" - error code E7210005.
Lenovo support told me to hard reset the computer, i did that... reinstalled drivers, reinstalled software, etc etc. still cant get it to work!
    Any ideas?

    Hi,
the swiped fingers are not stored in the TPM chip. They are stored directly in the Fingerprint chip and a backup on the HDD. So the part with the FPR what you saw in BIOS is the correct place.
You can optionaly restart the TPM chip, but I don't think that this will bring any change, as this chip is mainly for CSs and other TVT applications+ of course MS apps.
So please clear the FPR chip and start back to Windows.
Once you are there, uninstall FPR application completely
    - reboot the machine
    - install the latest version of the FPR sw:
    http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-73585
    - reboot the machine
    - now use the Fingerprint software to get you fingers swiped, please don't use the CSS, nor any other application to get your fingers swiped.
Let me know, if you see any error by this process.
    Screenshot would be great.
    Cheers

  • Fingerprint reader not working after resuming from sleep

I kind of mentioned this problem in a previous post and was directed here http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67245 which is a patch that could possibly fix it.This patch didn't work. What is happening is when my laptop comes back from sleep either the fingerprint reader is unresponsive, it says "waiting..." at the top of the screen instead of the normal scan message and is unresponsive, or in some cases when I click other credentials it shows a third account (first is my account, second is the reader account, and the third is a stop sign thing that says the fingerprint reader isn't attached). When I sign in with my normal password and try to go to the fingerprint software it pops up a little window that is labeled Lenovo Fingerprint 2.0 and the message is "Pleae wait...".
Other then returning from sleep the fingerprint reader has been working fine. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated, thanks.
    Edited to add patch link.

    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Well I got it working again but I'm not exactly sure how. I will go over what I went through so you guys can get an idea and possibly fix it. To start off I talked to MS support and I worked with them for a really long time. They tried intstalling different drivers (other then AuthenTec) and anytime we did that it would say "Fingerprint reader not available" at the login. They tried changing the power settings and which devices could wake up my computer and that had no effect either. I called Lenovo and they basically just told me to download the software that was already on the computer and change the option to have it wake up the computer, which doesn't exist. They were very unhelpful.
What eventualy got it working (and it's been working so far), is uninstalling the driver and software. Then reinstalling it all and installing the patch linked above. The first time I installed it I just double clicked it and went through the installation process. But you need to go into the folder it installs it into (C:\DRIVERS\VISTA\FPIRPON\) and double click FPIRPOn.reg which will add the fix to the registry. On top of this I also went into Device Manager and unchecked the box that allows the computer to turn of the fingerprint reader under Properties->Power Management for the device. The last thing I did was do a registry edit to force the USB to reset when waking from sleep. I found the registry edit here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928631/en-us.
So I am pretty sure it was the patch that fixed it when I correctly installed it because I had tried both the power management thing to keep it from getting turned off AND the registry edit and it didn't work. I also thing that Vista SP1 fixes what the registry edit does, but I tried it anyways because I was desperate haha. I'm going to undo the registry edit and power management thing one at a time and see if it still works. If it doesn't keep working I'm guessing it's a hardware problem and going to call Lenovo to get it fixed.
Anyone who is having this problem I would suggest they try the patch in the link that I first posted (http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?sitestyle=lenovo&lndocid=MIGR-67245)and follow the installation instructions carefully. Good luck!

  • Omnipass fingerprint reader not working

I purchased a Lenovo 3000 N100 a few weeks ago, and the Omnipass fingerprint reader program worked great at first.  Then this morning, it no longer let me log in.  I have Omnipass set up so I can use my fingerprint to log into websites (email, etc).  When I went to one of these websites, Omnipass came up with the top part of the dialog box, but not the bottom part with the fingerprint screen.  I couldn't close Omnipass after that either.  I had to log off my computer and log back in to make the box go away.  I think something is wrong with the Omnipass files on my system.  I don't want to uninstall Omnipass, because I don't know how to get it back.  Can anyone help me out?
PS- I am using Omnipass version 5.
Message Edited by natedog55902 on 02-07-2008 09:05 AM

Look in the lenovo folders on you C:\ drive for a folder called LPRA, the setup.exe in here will install OmniPass again if you uninstall it.
BTY the OmniPass version that Lenovo seems to be shipping is very outdated and causes headaches with Windows Updates (it will create two logon accounts with certain updates more info here: http://groups.google.com/group/microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords/msg/... )
Lenovo ship version 5.00.18 which has been replaced with 5.00.75 which fixes all these bugs. I believe it is time for Lenovo to UPDATE THEIR VERSION to 5.00.75 and stick it on the ThinkVantage updater!

  • Fingerprint reader not working at login

    Product Name: HP Pavilion dv6-6163cl
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
Error messages: "there was an error preventing the use of your fingerprint"
Any changes made: reinstall HP Simplepass because of a corrupted update, install Google Chrome, install iTunes and Quicktime, install Micrsosoft Security Essentials.
Date of Purchase: 12/24/11 (about 2 weeks before problem started)
Regular Uses of Computer: homework (microsoft office), web surfing (Google Chrome) gaming (StarCraft 2)
Problem: i can use the fingerprint reader after i logged on (i can run simplepass and scan my fingers) but i cant use my fingerprint reader when i have to log in to my computer- it says "there was an error preventing the use of your fingerprint" simplepass didnt work the first day i turned it on so i reinstalled it and it worked great for a few weeks but now i cant use it for anything.
What is the problem? is it a hardware or software problem? do i have to reinstall simplepass again?
    BTW: im a kid.

    Hi Sam,
It's good to be a kid!
    Congratulations on your new computer!
This problem may have started about the time you installed (and configured) your Anti-Virus software.
    ==========================================================================
Simple Pass - Windows 7 logon
I found a fix for the SimplePass Windows login that works on my notebook (running SimplePass 5.3.1.7).  All websites have been working; the Windows login did not - I just ignored it for a long time...
In the case of THIS notebook, running THIS notebook's AVAST anti-virus full 6.x version,
the fix was done inside of Avast's setup.
Avast > Settings > Troubleshooting > Select "Load Avast services only after loading other system services"
This setting causes the tough rules I have set in Avast to load after the system has finished it's basic login setup.
You might affect a similar change (for your Anti-Virus software) by going into Services and setting that software to "Automatic Delayed Start".
NOTE:  This fix is untested.  I don't need "Delayed Start" since Avast has an internal setting for the same thing.
Control Panel > icon view > Administraive Tools > Services > Sort by Name, if desired >
Scroll down and look for your Anti-Virus software > Right-Click on the Software name > Properties >
Startup type > in drop down menu, select "Delayed Start" > OK
Close all your open programs and Reboot (Restart) your computer.  Wait a few extra seconds for the fingerprinter icon to show up - it may be a bit slower to engage.

  • Fingerprint reader not working

My laptop froze today so I had to hardboot. After I turned it back on, my fingerprint reader stopped working. The device manager detects the Validity Sensors  (WBF) (PID=0050), but when I go to the Control Panel to fix the Biometric settings, there is absolutely no detection of the fingerprint reader whatsoever. All my BIOs are updated/reinstalled, so I don't think that's the problem.
I also tried reinstalling HP Simple Pass, which also does not work. I can log in into the program w/ my master password, but when I try to set up the log in for the fingerprint reader and type my password in there, it says I have an invalid password.
Not sure what other information I need, but I have this to start:

  • Can't network Mac with W7 Ultimate 64 bit (but W7Pro32 and WXP work)

    Hi all,
I posted a long (probably too long) issue recently but despite nearly 200 people viewing it, no-one offered a solution. So I am re-posting a shorter, clearer statement here but below I also enclose the long full diagnostic information (at the bottom).
At home we have 4 computers: a Macbook Pro with OS X 10.7, a Windows XP desktop machine, a Windows 7 Professional 32-bit laptop, and a Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit workstation. As a result of my extensive experimentation and testing I found that:
    - Networking and sharing drives between the Macbook and the XP machine worked fine in both directions
    - Ditto for the Windows 7 Professional 32-bit laptop - everything "just worked" exactly as it should
    - However the Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit machine simply would not work from the Mac to the PC (I was however able to access the PC from the Mac)
    - All PCs were of course able to inter-operate in both directions across the network with each other
My conclusion therefore is that the Mac is set up and working correctly, there are no connectivity problems, and almost certainly this is an issue relating either to 64-bit W7 (versus 32-bit) or it's an issue relating to "Ultimate" versus "Professional" (or both). I have not 'fiddled' with anything, the only setting changes made which could be considered low-level were the 'secpol' change on the W7x64 machine which I read in many posts might solve the issue (it didn't).
I am not a technical expert although I have some ancient history in the field. I just want it to work. Everything I read tells me that it should - now Windows and Mac both use SMB, etc etc. But it doesnt.
Absolutely desperate to get this solved quickly now. I would even happily have paid someone, but finding an expert in Switzerland who can come to the house, speak English fluently plus (of course) be fluent in Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and Mac... it's proved to be a test too far. So if anyone out there can help... thank you in advance.
    Alastair
    ORIGINAL DIAGNOSTIC DETAILS
    CONCLUSIONS
There appears to be a fundamental compatibility problem between Mac OS X and Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.
The problem actually appears to have a degree of randomness / instability about it (see below when, during diagnostics, the workstation actually disappeared, then reappeared!).
I can only presume this issue relates in some way to the “enhancements” either related to Ultimate versus Professional, or to 64-bit versus 32-bit variants.
At the moment there is only one solution I am confident would work, which is to revert my workstation to 32-bit… however this is not an option for me as it would render around 21GB of RAM unusable and remove the whole raison-d’etre for purchasing a powerful workstation in the first place.
I am therefore stuck and in need of help!
    PRECONDITIONS
In all cases I am using connectivity between three different PCs and a Macbook Pro 2.53GHz Intel Core Duo, 4GB RAM, Mac OS X running version 10.7 (Lion). BTW I know Lion is new but it was exactly the same with 10.6.
I have three PCs: an XP Pro machine, a W7 Pro 32bit machine and a W7 Ult 64bit machine.
All three PCs are running the same antivirus and firewall (Norton Internet Security 2011), this was left ON for all tests on all machines.
I have already been through all the myriad of advise on this subject: as you can see from the below, file sharing etc has all been enabled. The “secpol” changes etc have also been made on the W7 Ult 64bit machine only (but these were only made because it didn’t work without the changes and everyone seemed to think this was needed).
All my Windows computers are configured to workgroup “WILF” and also set this Workgroup name on the Mac in the WINS settings dialogue. No homegroup exists on the network.
No other “tinkering” has taken place. Although I have some tech skills, I am just a bloke who wants to use his computers, not a computer genius. As such the Tosh laptop is pretty much fresh out of the box, the Mac has nothing non-standard and the only setting change is the WINS setting for the Workgroup name. The workstation is a little over a year old so but I have not poked around with anything deep inside it, so if there is anything wrong it should be superficial – the kind of thing a basic user could have changed by mistake and can easily be changed back.
    DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
Connecting between Macbook and old Windows XP machine (XP Pro 2002 SP3):
    -        Open ‘Finder’ on Mac, PC immediately visible under ‘Shared’.
    -        From Mac: Single click on PC icon indicated “Connecting” then “Connect as Guest”, opens a list of all shared and public folders. Am able to copy files from Mac to PC, am able to copy files from PC to Mac.
    -        From PC: Opening “My Network Places” and clicking on “View Workgroup Computers” shows all my networked computers including the Mac, double-clicking the Macbook icon opens a list of all shared and public folders. Am able to copy files from Mac to PC, am able to copy files from PC to Mac.
    -        In short: this appears to work as it should.
    Connecting between Macbook and new Windows 7 machine (W7 Pro 32-bit 2009 edition, Tosh laptop w/ Intel Core i7 M620 @ 2.67GHz, 4GB RAM):
    -        Open ‘Finder’ on Mac, PC immediately visible under ‘Shared’.
    -        From Mac: Single click on PC icon indicated “Connecting” then “Connect as Guest”, opens a list of all shared and public folders. Am able to copy files from Mac to PC, am able to copy files from PC to Mac.
    -        From PC: Opening “Windows Explorer” and single-clicking on “Network” shows all my networked computers including the Mac. This time I decided to try logging into the Mac drives as me, rather than as a guest:
Double-clicking the Mac icon opens up the ID / Password dialogue box.
Inputting my correct username and password for the Mac immediately opened up all the folders on the Mac I have access to (the shared / public folders but also the folders for my login account on the Mac).
Am able to copy files from Mac to PC, am able to copy files from PC to Mac.
    -        In short: this appears to work as it should.
    Connecting between Macbook and fairly new Windows 7 workstation (W7 Ultimate 64-bit  2009 edition SP1, Supermicro workstation w/ 2 x Intel Xeon W5590 @ 3.33GHz, 24GB  RAM):
    -        Open ‘Finder’ on Mac, PC WAS INITALLY  immediately visible under ‘Shared’… however while carrying out the testing for the XP machine and the laptop, it has disappeared! The other two machines remain visible.
STOP PRESS: It reappeared… for how long, is anyone’s guess…
    -        From Mac: A single click on PC icon almost instantaneously indicates “Connection Failed”. Repeated attempts produce the exact same result. To verify the basics some elementary diagnostics:
Mac IP address 192.168.0.11 can be successfully pinged from the PC.
PC IP address 192.168.0.3 can be successfully pinged from the Mac.
From PC entering comment “ping MACBOOKPRO-598A” (the latter being the computer name of my Macbook) works successfully i.e. name resolved OK, no packet loss, 1ms round trip.
From Mac unable to run the reciprocal ping test for EITHER PC since I don’t know what to put into Ping to allow it to resolve the computer names.
However I note that all 3 Windows machines remain visible in the Finder, only the two which work (the XP machine and the W7 32bit laptop) have the “Eject” symbol next to them and they are still the only two which work both ways without problem.
In the Finder window after clicking on the PC icon in the left column, I get another instance of this icon in the next column with “Connect As” underneath and presently “Connection Failed”. If I click on “Connect As” I receive the error “There was a problem connecting to the server ‘alastair-ws’ (which is the PC name of the workstation).
Finally if I use the GO -> Connect to Server option in Finder, using SMB://alastair-ws I receive the same error as above. I get EXACTLY the same error if I use the IP address of the workstation 192.168.0.3 as above.
    -        From PC: Opening “Windows Explorer” and single-clicking on “Network” shows all my networked computers including the Mac. Again I decided to try logging into the Mac drives as me, rather than as a guest:
Double-clicking the Mac icon opens up the ID / Password dialogue box.
Inputting my correct username and password for the Mac immediately opened up all the folders on the Mac I have access to (the shared / public folders but also the folders for my login account on the Mac).
Am able to copy files from Mac to PC, although naturally not the other way around.
    -        Therefore the PC-to-Mac seems to work OK, but the Mac-to-PC does not no matter what I try, although the IP is visible and it’s clear the connectivity exists (or Mac copy onto PC would also not work).
    [END]

You can give this a try on your Ultimate machine.  While these are said to be for Vista, I used it on my Win 7 machine just fine and it fixed the problems I was having.  Hope it works for you.
The problem is that Vista, by default, will only use NTLMv2 for authentication, which is not supported by Mac OS X's Windows Sharing service.
The other problem is the Minimum Session Security for NTVLM SSP based Clients.
    To get around this:
    1.     In Vista, open the Control Panel
    2.     Switch to "Classic" view
    3.     Double-click Administration Tools
    4.     Double-click Local Security Policy
    5.     Or Secpol.msc
    6.     Expand "Local Policies" and select "Security Options"
    7.     Alternate : Type secpol.msc to get editor up then
    8.     Locate "Network Security: LAN Manager Authentication Level" in the list and double-click it.
    9.     Change the setting from "Send NTMLv2 response only" to "Send LM & NTLM - use NTLMv2 session if negotiated"
    10.     Network Security: Minimum session security for NTLM SSP Based (including secure RPC) Clients
    11.     Change the setting from "require 128 bit" to unchecked (No Minimum)
    12.     Click OK
the real difference between vista and windows 7 procedure is 10 and 11

  • Windows XP Pro (32-bit) and Vista Ultimate (64-bit) on the same Mac Pro HD?

Has anyone been able to install both Windows XP Pro (32-bit) and Windows Vista Ultimate (64-bit) on the same dedicated Windows hard drive? I have four HD in my Mac Pro, and one of them is dedicated for Windows (and bootable via Boot Camp). I found the following technical articles about installing Windows XP & Vista on the same hard drive (using two separate partitions) using a VMWare machine as the test system:
    http://apcmag.com/howto_dual_boot_vista_and_xp_with_vista_installed_first__the_stepbystepguide.htm
    http://apcmag.com/howto_dualboot_vista_with_xp__stepbystep_guide_withscreenshots.htm
Has anyone successfully installed Windows XP (32-bit) and Vista 64-bit) on the same NTFS partition?
I already have Windows XP Pro (32-bit) SP3 installed on my single NTFS hard drive. I am looking for the best way to add the Vista 64-bit installation on the same hard drive.
Any thoughts and advise are appreciated.

Windows has its own list of boot OSs, and default, from msconfig. It will sit and wait for xx-seconds on startup in Windows if you want to boot from an alternate.
As to whether Apple's OS Switcher (aka startup disk bootcamp control panel or tray icon) sees both, I had Windows Home Premium and Ultimate 64, and pretty sure OS X saw both. That was pre-Leopard and before there were 64-bit Apple drivers.
I can't think of any scenerio of wanting to mix 32-bit and 64-bit on the same paritition, you realize you can't install the one over the other and must do a clean install.
When I added a partition out of main partition (I wanted to put search index and page file on their own partition) those partitions aren't seen - are hidden - to Leopard.

  • Premiere Pro CS4 eats my C: drive in Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1

I installed Premiere Pro CS4 this last weekend 11-12 April 2009.
    I have a Quadcore 3.0GHz with 8Gb of RAM, a 150Gb C: drive fo rthe op sys Vista Ultimate 64-bit SP1 and programs, a 500Go D: drive for general data and a K: drive 2Tb RAID0 volume useable about 1.8Gb.
My C: drive was healthy after installation of Premiere Pro with tens of gigabytes free at least. Then I started experimenting with building projects. I put my files on a mix of the D: and K: drives especially the AVCHD video assets on the K:.
While importing these AVCHD assets I eventually got a message from Vista that the C: drive was full and I did a clean up and that gave approximetely 30Gb free, I went back to importing, in a couple of hours the 30Gb was gone, this can only be Premiere Pro CS4 eating the C: drive and never returning what it takes. This of course is a disaster precisely because it is my op sys drive and Vista will periodically want to make new restore points especially before applying downloaded updates from Microsoft. I ahve run also chkdsk and defragmenter with no effect. I think Premiere Pro is using some sort of secret work files on the C: drive somewhere and that they just accumulate, of course this would be a bug.
Support Center does not appear to let me open web support issues even though we are in the 90-day bug fix period and I have registered the product with the product key so that is another bug that gets in the way of fixing the first.
    Any ideas please?
    Thanks!
    Peter.

Yeah, I did not take backups that often cos I did not intend putting the machine onto the net, then I got this device that said it would protect against everything by isolating my machine and making it invisible, I await the analysis by the company but it does appear not to have worked, the only thing that works is very real physical isolation and do not use the internet at all from the main machine. Like I say it simply is not confirmed yet but neither is it denied. You cannot actually go so far as to blame Adobe because stopping hackers is the job of the op sys vendor really so I blame Microsoft, the only blame for Adobe is the policy that some functions require internet connection in order to work when they know internet is not secure, so for instance if you want to use the emulators for things like these mobile phones they want you to be connected, I tried that one phone emulator and it said so, I wish they just put all documentation and all software on the DVD. I can roll back to an earlier Vista version from a USB backup disk that is always powered off, then rebuild as necessary, but I want the security firm to see if it is a trojan in fact first and to see if it can upgrade the security device and provide a roll out of the trojan's work. Right now I am still scripting the documentary and this second quarter is getting this Premiere Pro up ready for third quarter production so I can be philosophical for now, but yes later I will get more disciplined. But at least now I (almost) know the security device is not the all singing wonder they said it was. Oh well. I use a second machine too, a PS3 with Linux, that is what I am using now, this one doesn't seem to get hacked even though it is my sacrificial machine.

Adobe deserves criticism for its shoddy QC, but not for maing you exposing your main machine at risk on the internet. I never do that, and I never have had a virus or malware on it--never in all the years I've been doing this. I have picked up a few on my internet machine, though, but they are easily fixed with the security scheme I use.
As for restore points possibly eating up disk space, which you alluded to earlieranother never for me. Restore points are a half assed measure at best. My security system is a full clone backup of my C drive starting the day I install and OS on it, and every time I add add a program, and every day when I am working a big complex project. Otherwise, once a week. It takes a few minutes only. That way I can restore everything in equally few minutes should anything bad happen, like poorly designed software affecting other software, a virus, malware, etc, and including drive failurewhich has happened twice over the years.
Don't get me wrong, a virus checker is very useful to a point, but real security design has to start long before you install one, especially if your machine is the heart of your business, as it is for me. What is that old saying? An ounce of prevention is worth..........

  • Installing Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit on Bootcamp issue

Hi I'm a newbie, I would like to install Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit using boot camp. I went into boot camp to partition and split the 1 terabyte hardrive. half is for Leopard, the other half is for Windows Vista.
I followed the steps and popped in the disk, awhile later I get a message saying "Where do you want to install Windows?"
    It's showing:
    Disk 0 Partition 1 200 mb primary
    Disk 0 Partition 2 466 gb Primary
Disk 0 unallocated space 128 mb
Disk 0 partition 3 Boot camp 464 gb Primary.
which ever one I click on it says "Windows Cannot be installed to this hard disk space. Windows must be installed to a partition formatted as NTFS"
I can't get passed this part, what do I do?
    Any help is greatly appreciated

    Hi Stuart,
Vista needs its system partition to be formatted with NTFS.
The BootCamp Asistant does a pre-format with FAT32 since OSX can not write to NTFS partitions (only read).
Therefor you have to reformat the Windows partition with the Vista Installer to NTFS.
See page 11 of the BootCamp Setup Guide found here http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/ (and it's also part of the BootCamp Assistant).
    Regards
    Stefan

  • Need to install vista ultimate 64 bit

Hi, I recently bought an Apple Macbook Pro 15 with 2.66 GHz Processor, 4GB DDR3 Ram, 320 GB 7200 RPM HDD & Nvidia 9600 GT 512MB DDR3 Graphics Chipset. Actually I want to create a new partition to install Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit Os so can somebody please guide me? As you already know that the trackpad of this notebook doesn't have any click buttons so can you please tell about how to right click a folder or file on windows vista? Thanks!

  • Bootcamp: Sound not working on Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit

Hello everyone, I've got quite an unsual problem (whell at least I think anyway). On my iMac (Mid 2008, 2.4Ghz C2D, 2GB ram, 2400XT), I recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate (32 bit). I've been using the sound out of the speakers, until now when I decided to connect some extenal speakers. I have the bootcamp drivers installed (from Snow Leopard DVD). When I plugged the headphone jack into the headphone socket on the back, I noticed that the sound was still coming out of the speakers, so I opened the preferences and it showed that I had something plugged into the line-in jack- which I didn't! I removed the headphone jack from the headphone socket and plugged it into the line-in. Nothing changed in the preferences. So basically, Windows thinks the line-out port is line-in! I would appreciate some help with this issue, not sure how common it is!
    Thanks :-)

Hi I'm not sure if this is going to help but have you got the service pack 1 installed on your laptop as when I installed it on my desktop the first time it caused blue screen errors and gave me loads of problems including error messages that seemed to come up with every application I opened and an annoying driver IQRL equal or less than but couldn't work out why and then in the end I had so many problems I had to totally reformat my desktop and I removed my XP scanner and webcam(both had vista drivers) and when I reinstalled the service pack 1 it was fine, so do you by any chance have anything attached to your laptop that was XP and has vista drivers as these seemed to be what was causing my errors.
Also a question about your graphic card drivers, I've got the same laptop as you and was looking for the graphic card driver updates and couldn't find them anywhere on the site, where did you find yours? I'm using Vista Home Premium 32 bit , my model number is A200-28P(PSAE6) and I'd love to know if there is a newer graphics card driver but can't find it on the knowledge base so the fact you've updated yours would you mind pointing a new user in the right direction :-)
    Thanks,

  • SQL Developer 1.1.2.2579 will not start in Vista Ultimate 64 bit

I have tried both versions of 1.1.2.2579 (with JRE/JDK and without). Both versions give me "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000018). Click OK to terminate the application." Build 1557 seems to work fine on the same machine (with UAC off. I have not tried it yet with UAC on).
Here are some machine details: MS Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, default JVM Sun 1.5.0_11 [Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 1.5.0_11-b03, mixed mode)]. Since other folks had some problems with UAC I disabled that to see if it would make any difference. I get the same result with or without UAC when I try to launch the application normally. With UAC on and using "run as administrator" I get nothing at all. That is I get no error but the application never actually launches either. It doesn't appear to do anything at all.
The version of 1557 that seems to work fine is the one with the JRE.

    And???
We can't help you if you don't tell us what you tried
and what happened when you tried it.This is message when try run on vista ultimate x64 "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000018). Click OK to terminate the application."
you can help??? what is happen???
finally sql developer run or not run on vista x64???
p.s.: excuse-me... i don´t write in english very well.... waiting replies!!!
    thanks!

  • Vista Ultimate: 64-bit Installation Problem

Ok so I'm trying to install vista ultimate 64 bit, and when boot camp tells me to insert the disk, I did, then It restarted and when booting, it came to a black screen with white text saying:
    1.
    2.
    *+Select cdrom boot type:+*
The problem here is that I can't type a darn thing! They keyboard doesn't do anything at all, and not even plugging in a usb keyboard worked.
For those who will ask, yes, I have a genuine copy of Vista Ultimate 64-bit which includes a 32 bit version, but I'd rather NOT use the 32 bit one, because hey, I've paid for the one with 64 for a reason.
Does anybody know what to do here? Is there a fix or am I screwed?

Microsoft, Apple and Intel belong to the EFI group. That isn't to say that they implement the same. Some Macs have EFI64 (2.x, UEFI), some have EFI32 (1.x).
