LUMIA 800 Epic cosmetic issues

I've came across an issue with my polycarbonate LUMIA 800. As I've removed the original casing that comes with the LUMIA 800, I realised the layer of "DIRT" on the phone. I've attempted to clean it off with soap and water but it cant be removed.
The LUMIA 800 comes with a silicone casing and I'm suspecting it is ruined by the given silicone casing that was bundled with the phone. The purpose of putting the silicone casing is to protect, not ruin the beautiful cosmetic matt black surface.
You guys had this issue? Those who had the used the bundled silicone casing can probably take it out and take a look!
I've already surfaced the problem since 2 weeks ago and am still waiting for NOKIA Singapore's reply.

I would advicw you not to worry about it so much. I've been using the case for almost 5 months now, since launch.
Agreed, when you take out the case, the body looks really bad n the stains dont go even after a lot of cleaning. However, leave it without the cover for a day or two and it regains its original clean texture. I'm guessing it gets polished while moving around in your pockets or something.

I recently bought a lumia 800 and the issues i am having includes-the bluetooth,it refuses to obey my commands at times e.g i cannot make another call immediately when i am through with a call .some times it will hang for about 2-3 minutes some one told me it can be the problem of the processor.

  • My Lumia 800 Experience - Issues/Questions/Suggest...

    Ok.
Firstly, hi all. A few of you helped me when i had an X6, hope i get the same response now.
I have just gone from a Nokia N900 to a Lumia 800. It's a sleek, stylish phone, comfortable to use but the difference in touch sensitivity between the N900 and L800 is massive. I'll get used to it.
Firstly, a problem. It took me 3 and a half hours to get the contacts off my N900 and onto the L800. Why? The bluetooh transfer app would not work with either my N900 or the bluetooth on my Win7 laptop. Would pair, wouldn't transfer. I didn't have a LiveID so had to create one, then try to sync to Outlook, export contacts to Live via CSV file, then i could see the contacts on my phone. Wow. fuss and a half.
So. Data Transfer. Why when i have a Win7 PC and a Win7.5 phone, can i not simply drag and drop files to the L800, viewing it in Win7 Explorer as storage? Come on, that's basic. the older N900 can, why not this?
I believe my L800 is more of a MediaPhone/FriendPhone that a SmartPhone - but on that note, i cannot set an MP3 file as a ringtone or alert, unless it's under 1mb in size....really? On the same subject, i have downloaded 4 text alerts from the Free Ringtones app by Ashterisk to replace the text alerts and email alerts. They can only be found in the Ringtones setting as Custom tones....they can't be found under the New Text/IM or New Email settings....and annoyingly, a ringtone i downloaded from the same app cannot be found at all, although will play in the media player...have i done something wrong?
Themes...can they be auto-installed so you don't have to create your own tiles and then replace the standard ones on the homescreen?
Internet Explorer. I save cookies because i would like to log in to a site automatically if i have a site opened from a tile, however, if i open up IE from the standard tile, it goes to the last visited webpage, and it doesn't seem like you can set a homepage or about:blank in there. am i missing something?
the phone seems excellent, and very well put together with some neat touches, but it doesn't feel as fluid, as user-friendly as the N900....considering the N900 was a "computer" and a true SmartPhone opposed to the L800 being a MediaPhone/FriendPhone, the L800 feels like it's missing a few tricks, and it's harder to customise, both with sounds and images, and commonly used webpages etc than the N900 which seems silly seeing as i think it's aimed at a younger user than the N900.
Am i just complaining for the sake of it because it's a new phone i don't quite understand yet, or are these things that other users are thinking, like "ahhh why the heck can't i just do *that*?!"
any and all feedback appreciated, latest software in use, forum browsed through for info, although i've not spotted these issues anywhere else, i'm only human and may well have missed them.

Fuly understand what you're saying, but to me, some of the stuff mentioned should have been there from the start, basic things like the mass storage connectivity would have made things so much easier, plus using full mp3 files as ringtones - phones have been doing this for years.
Another problem i forgot about is the ability close an application. unless i'm mistaken, if i've used IE and visited several pages, i have to press the back arrow repeatedly until the app exits....there's no "close" function.
Found an issue with downloaded music being played at max volume with the volume set at 1/30, i'll have a search for the solution to that.

  • Lumia 800: Screen Issues

    Hello,
I seem to have a faulty device, and wish to confirm it. Two times now, I have noticed an artifact, where part of the screen on the left gets chipped off and appears on the right instead. This happens only for a moment or so, but obviously points to a hardware or software issue. I wonder if anybody else has this issue, and whether I should invoke my warranty in this case.
    Thanks

The same for me and my friend, both with nokia Lumia 800.
The part of image appear at the right side.... and later come back to normal.

  • Lumia 800, performance issue when listening to mus...

I am using Spotify on Lumia 800. If I use any network using apps (IE, FB, Twitter) the music will pause playing (actually the play stutters) while it's getting data from internet. It happens even if I am using WLAN and I am listening to offline playlist, so it's definitely not a bandwith issue rather than phone performance issue. Any steps I could try to work around this?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

It's an issue with the spotify app, it's in need of a major update to correct issues like this. It behaves like this on non-nokia windows phones too.
The workaround I use is to make tracks available for offline listening.

  • Combination of Lumia 800 issues - rather annoying

Hi all, I know there are many different topics linked to various aspects of the issues we are all having right now, but I seem to be having a combination of issues with my model and it is driving me insane. I quit using the iPhone as that was driving me nuts and came to Win7.5 as I loved the OS, I am considering going back to the iPhone and scrapping the Nokia if I cant get this fixed.
    Firstly:
Battery life, I am barely using my phone and charging it 3 times each day.
(and I thought my iPhone was bad)
    Secondly:
The phone, when UNUSED (and unplugged from power source), gets very hot for no reason at all.
    Thirdly:
OS issue (possibly), Elements of the phone become unresponsive, this includes the wifi not operating, then when you try to turn it back on most of the buttons within the settings menu are unresponsive, they 'bounce' but do nothing. I then turn the phone off and back on, but it wont turn back on. It takes several attempts to turn it back on.
I have already performed a wipe of the phone and started from scratch with no difference made, I am currently unable to upgrade to 7740 as it is not currently available for my phone apparently.
    Any ideas or suggestions?
Please don't suggest Nokia's statement on the main issues, that would basically turn my smart phone into just a phone. Sorry if I am sounding a little bitter at all, it is just driving me insane.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I also got my nokia lumia 800... I thought it was going to be one heck of a phone and couldn't wait to get it but now i am thinking of swapping it back...... This lumia is very bad. It has no secondary camera, it can use Bluetooth with other phones except for the same model as it self, the OS interface is horrible, the speaker volume is very low (even on the highest volume), there is no slot for memory card.
To be honest I think I should go back to symbian ANNA, I had a nokia c7 before getting the lumia and the C7 was miles better. It had everything that the lumia didn't.
Nokia left symbian to compete with Apple and Android. I think they have just did a mistake.. They should have never left SYMBIAN, instead they should have made it better... I think  I will stick to my C7 because symbian Anna is awesome.... It is a shame about the new lumia (800 and 710).... I know Nokia is going to loose alot of customers....

  • Freezing issue with Lumia 800

    Hi,
I bought a new Lumia at the Ambience Mall in Gurgoan 2 days ago and since the time I began using it, it suddenly and randomly freezes with no display and totally unresponsive. There seems to be tactile vibration on pressing the Windows or search buttons, but the phone is also unreachable. The only option is to reboot the phone and this is really irritating as I dont know when it freezes up. I have to keep switching on and checking.
I am told there is a replacement for these phones if any issues happen, even the Nokia care repair shop was unable to help. Now since I am located in Bangalore, is there any other retailer I can have this phone exchanged?

I had the same issue with the screen freezing. I've been reading other threads on this and some say it could be cold weather. I remember I had a Nokia 5800 and the screen would scramble when it was cold out. The only way to fix the screen to use a magnet on a certain part of the screen or heat the phone up with a blow dryer and use the unlock switch. I don't know if it's the same deal with the lumia 800. I remember  rubbing the screen with my thumbs on the screen in opposite directions and pressing the unlock button to try to unlock the screen. That worked a few times.

  • Lumia 800 and 23.976 FPS MP4 - Playback Issue

Quite lately, I have been wondering, if I should bring up this issue or not. Thought, what the hell - lets pen it down anyway.
So here's the deal, I have a lot of 720P DTS/DD HD movies which I generally re-encode to H.264 lower bit rates (1500 to 2000 kbps) and  Audio to AAC and finally MUX them in MP4 (sounds terrible right !). The resultant file plays fine on VLC, HOWEVER, its terribly laggy/jerky on Lumia 800.
After a lot of hit and trial, I found a workaround though : Mux the H.264 Video stream @ 25 fps and Speed up the Audio from 23.976 to 25. Now the movie playback on Lumia is tolerable but not that smooth.
My N8 can play 23.976 Movies just fine. Now the Question - Why is Lumia 800 not able to playback the most widely used 23.976 framerate encoded movies and why I have to increase the FPS (to 25) in order to achive a decent playback.
PS: Movies which are @ 30 fps has absolutely brilliant playback on Lumia, though. But unfortunately, we cannot speedup 23.976 to 30, coz speeding up the Audio to 30 framerate makes the audio sound terrible and cartoonish.
EDIT : Let's make it more clear. The culprit is not 720p. I even tried resizing the video to 800x450 (Progressive) and keeping the original framerate to 23.976.The playback is still noticeably jerky. So the culprit is definitely the framerate.
    Cheers !!

@ noenid : Hey buddy... Still stuck with the playback issue.. I realized that long back and am glad that I finally gave up on Nokia. Few weeks back I just bought Sony Xperia Z. Now that's what a "smartphone" should be... Its almost impossible to find something that the "Z DOESN'T DO"...
Maybe Nokia can convince Microsoft to re-design the Windows Phone OS and bring it at part with other OS. I really don't know why Microsoft chose to go the "Apple Way"... They may say "Security" >> to which I say "**bleep**"....
And why do I say **bleep** ?? Depite all the security and locked OS API's, I still don't see any substantial acceptance of Windows Phone OS in Business community... Android on the other hand, was highly criticized for being "vulnerable" >> But look around man... Almost every banking / IT / Financial Sector have their apps on it.. I really don't want Windows Phone OS to roll-over and die...
As they say: You can fool me once, but not twice...

  • Issues on the Lumia 800 with "WIFI" and "Mobile ne...

I keep my Lumia 800 on 2G/E at all times usually to conserve battery life, and because i'm at work with a wifi connection all day..occasionally when i go out i like to turn on the 3G and use the map functions etc.
The problem occurs after a while that i notice the 3G draining my battery quite quickly, so i decide i want to turn off the 3G, i go to the "Mobile network" entry under "settings" and when i tap it, nothing happens at all, i also notice my WIFI is turned off, so i tap the "WIFI" entry, and again nothing happens!
So, to solve this problem i have to turn the phone off...but then it takes maybe 10 mins or so till i can turn it back on, it will not turn on straight away!! I have to either wait ten mins or keep pressing the power button and holding it down untilt he phone eventually vibrates to tell me its turning on..whats going on??
If anyone can shed some light on this matter i'd be very grateful!

This is still happening, can anyone shed some light on this?

  • Issue with software update on Lumia 800

I recieved a notification of a Software update for my Lumia 800 yesterday morning and connected to Zune to upgrade from 7.5 to 7.8.
The first time I tried, it sync'd the phone then didn't go any further.  I cancelled it and started again, this time it gave me a progress bar - step *of 10 and percentage done.  Everything was ok until it got to step 9 where it turns the phone off then back on again - the phone came up saying new update installed but Zune hung for hours and didn't get to step 10.
My phone still says Windows 7.5 but no update available.  I've tried a number of times to roll back to the old version but always hangs at step three - shows a picture of a computer with the phone but the cable not connected with a white arrow pointing as if to say you have to connect the phone but it's already connected.
24hrs later and still no joy.
    Info on phone says -
    OS Version 7.10.8773.98
    Firmware Revision number - 1750.0823.8852.12430
    Harware revision number - 112.1402.2.4
Yet no changes to my phone as per the blurb about the new improvements

My advice for you is to NOT update to 10.7.3, especially since you have a Macbook Pro. This computer is having lots of problems with this update, and since you don't have a backup organised, don't take the risk.
My computer was stuck on the update for 25 hours, and I had to hold the power button down and eventually restore from backup. If I didn't have a backup, I would have lost everything!!
If you really want this update and can't wait anymore, download the combo from the apple website (google it to be sure).
By the way, I just googled and it appears apple has withdrawn the update? See

  • Lumia 800 and zune music syncing issues?

why is it that in the zune software the music artists does not match the lists from my collection (pc) to the contents in the phone, this is getting frustrating.
in my computer there are a total of 264 artist and over 400+ songs. but checking the phone 52 artists only appear, though the songs are there but all the others excluded from the 52 artists are classified as unknown.
i have manually edited it from my computer and from zune as well. so its impossible to have missed labeling the artist etc etc. any help here?

Check whether you may have use your Lumia 800 on another PC initially so it has it's primary sync relationship with that PC.
When you connect your Lumia with your PC and Zune starts select 'phone' and verify the sync relationship which is shown below the phone image. If this says 'guest' you will have to click 'Change Sync Relationship' to move it to the PC you are using.
On any other PC you can remove the phone from the list of know devices through Settings>phone>sync options and click 'forget this phone for each phone you wish to remove. If multiple phone are known to this install of Zune you will see left and right arrows besides the phone image with which you can select the phone to change settings for.

  • Lumia 800 Turning itself off!

Dear NOKIA, up until now I have just put up with this phone simply because it has lots of style and and I really like the look of it, obviously as you're probably aware this phone has had lots of complaints most of which are very valid points (BATTERY LIFE, LACK OF BLUETOOTH, LACK OF NOTIFICATIONS, NOT BEING ABLE TO CUSTOMIZE AN SMS TONE, NO MASS STORAGE) Over the last 3 months I have chose to put up with this but today I can no longer 'just put up with it'.......
Last night I set my three alarms on my Lumia to ensure I woke up for work on time, I woke up an hour late for work with no sign of an alarm!(5am) This probably had a lot to do with the fact the phone had turned itself off! I turned it back on, and left for work.  by the time i arrived at work (5.30am) the phone had once again turned itself off! By 8am I noticed again phone was off, surprisingly at 10am I needed to use the phone and it was ON and ready to use! However by 12midday it had turned itself off again! In all the phone has turned itself off 6 times today! obviously the phone had been charged to full capacity over night so has had pretty much a full charge most of the morning? So can someone explain what is going on with it, and what is my next step, I can put up with most things (cosmetic) but how on earth do you expect customers to want to use a phone that is more unreliable than british rail in the 80's? IF there is such a thing in the nokia world as 'customer care' would they PLEASE reply to this post???
Luke, an extremely frustrated, leaning toward disgruntled Nokia Lumia 800 user

I'm having the same problem with my Lumia 800 restarting. The first device did this so regularly I had to have it swapped out for a new (well, refurbished) device. I know four other people with this device, two of whom report no problem but one of whom has had the same issue and also had to have her device swapped out. Even with the replacement, I'm noticing that the phone is restarting 2-3 times a day and there is no pattern to this behaviour. Often happens when the phone is dormant but also ocassionally when in use. Very frustrating but not sure if entirely linked to this phone as I had to change our my LG Optimus for the same reason - it started restarting after an earlier update (no longer available to me to roll back to). So, is it Windows or the phone? Either way, Nokia, really like a response to this as it's not great and having encouraged my other friend to select WP7 over iPhone, it's starting to look like bad advice. We all love the OS and the style of the phone etc is awesome. Battery life is poor but perhaps a future update will fix this but the restarting is an annoyance that can't be ignored and I'll be sending this phone back for a replacement too if the problem persists.

  • Nokia Lumia 800 won't update!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

Yes, I know there are already several topics on this but I'm pretty desperate now.
I receive a Nokia Lumia 800 in December for christmas (I know it's not the latest but my family doens't have all that much money). Since christmas day I have been trying to obtain the update for the Lumia. The one that fixes battery and stuff. I've tried search for updates and I've tried searching using Zune. I've had NO success at all. I've tolerated the many flaws in my Lumia such as the lack of a screenshot ability and the bluetooth issue. Those are but two of many. I really want to like this phone and so far, I've only managed to become annoyed by it. I refuse to switch to iOS and I don't have the money for a decent android so I ask, does anyone know of any way I can get updates for my Lumia 800?

Pretty sure it's running the latest updates.
A lumia 720 would probably have been (much) cheaper, is faster overall, runs the latest Windows Phone OS (WP8.0 GDR3 with Nokia Black FW) and will be receiving at least the next major OS update.

  • The most systematic analysis of Lumia 800 battery ...

Hi, don’t mean to be arrogant, but I’ve read many threads, forums, posts etc.  There are tons of info, someone tried a table, etc. but no one has attempted to summarise the relevant parameters.  So here goes:
    1.     I have a Cyan 800, bought locked at “3” UK, then unlocked.  It’s beautiful and makes iApple UI look, well, jurassic or geriatric in comparison.  The screen is so beautiful that I switched the thing on just to marvel at the ease of reading the glorious white on black (real black, not grey) and I am smitten by the ascetic aesthetics of the UI that put function over form (I simply can't stomach the saccharine animation of Apple, it is an eye candy for a while, then becomes bothersome, at least to me.
    2.     Initially, I noticed that the battery life was not great, but it did not seem disastrous, and I read all the gleeful Apple worshipping media trying to fan the battery issue, but I thought that it was a storm in a tea cup and just the usual attempt to put-down any competition to Apple.
    3.     Until a couple of days ago I noticed that I have less than ½ charge after only a few hours off the charger without really doing almost anything.
    4.     I panicked, read as much I could the forums, etc. (including probably the most technical – XDA-Forums) but got there only one real advice, the “diagnostics” mode (dial ##634# - I also downloaded an App (called Diagnostics) that does bring you straight to the relevant page without the need to “dial” the ##634#).
    5.     I then tried to see what was draining the battery, I stopped 3G connection and “presto”, the drainage stopped and I thought that I resolved the problem (at least for me, there were clearly problems with a certain hardware code, see below).
    6.     For one day, the battery was very durable.  Even though I had some reasonable With-Fi browsing and calls (GSM, not 3G), there was more than a 1/3rd of the battery left after about 20 hours of the last charge.
    7.     Then, today, the morning began very well (in terms of the battery), it was losing less than a few percentage points every hour.  I used it for light browsing and a bit of Bluetooth listening.  Them my 7-yr old played some X-Box games for a bit, but the battery was way above 2/3rds.  I then noticed that the phone was warm even though it was not on.  Initially, I thought that it was warm because it was on my body, but then I noticed very fast fall in the battery level.  Check:
    a.      the 3G again, no it is still off
    b.     wi-fi and Bluetooth off
    c.      I even checked what Apps were in the background (though I know that it is NOT draining)
    d.      - nothing helps, the drainage was high, even when the phone was closed (i.e., not used).
    8.     There was nothing I could do, until I shut the phone down completely and switched it on again.  Then, the drainage returned to the “good” level, i.e., a few percentage points per hour.
    9.     So bottom line, I think that there was something going-on “in the background (that is why the device was warm even when closed) – the problem is that this seems to be intermittent/random and very difficult to put the finger on what causes this problem.  I hope that Nokia resolves this problem and not only the “low” battery capacity (see below) that Nokia acknowledged.
So after this long intro, what do I see as the “hard-points” here? The most important parameters for the story seem to be in the following screens:
    1.     “Diagnostics” (##634#) “Battery Status” screen;
    2.     “Settings”/”Systems”/”about” screen, have to press the “more information” button;
    3.     “Settings”/”Systems”/”battery saver” screen;
    4.     The battery icon and its remaining capacity representation on the main screen.
The “Diagnostics” (##634#) “Battery Status” screen:
It seems to contain the following info:
    ·       “Charged” – seems to display ALWAYS the figure “65535%”;
    ·       “Voltage” – seems to show figures of between 3.700 V (i.e., volts) to 4.1 or 4.2 volts
    ·       “Current”, followed by “charging” or “discharging” and the current, usually between 130 mA (i.e., milliamp) and 500 mA.
    ·       “Full Charge Capacity” – showing different figures for different people, usually between slightly above 900 mAh (i.e., milli-Amper-hours) and slightly above 1,500 mAh.  Although in this should logically be a fixed-for-ever, or at least in the short term level, the figure seems to fluctuate slightly, see below for more detail.
    ·       “Remaining Charge Capacity” – clearly the most important parameter, showing the remaining mAh in the battery.  Although in theory, the level immediately after long charge should be equal or very near the “Full Charge Capacity”, in practice, it almost never is (remember, I take this not only from my case, but also from numerous reports that I got from the various forums), see below for more detail.
The “Settings”/”Systems”/”about” screen, the relevant info items:
    ·       OS version – it seems that the latest one (as of late dec 2011) should include “7740” in it.  apparently, Nokia promised some respite from the battery bugs in this “7740” update, but from what I read in the forums, there was absolutely no difference.
    ·       Firmware revision number – interestingly, the firmware revision number includes “7720”, though I am not sure what it means.
    ·       Hardware revision number – this ends up with “xxx.3” or “xxx.4” – as below, I wonder if this is a different OEM factories designation, but it seems to me that it is the “xxx.4” that has one type of problem (low “Full Charge Capacity” of under 1,000 mAh).
The “Settings”/”Systems”/”battery saver” screen – what is relevant for us is under the “battery information” – you must unplug the phone from charger to see three lines:
    ·       “Remaining battery life”: supposed to be between 0 and 100% of course (though in this context, calling it “remaining battery life” is misleading, or at least inconsistent with the “remaining charge capacity” of “Battery Status” screen.  Perhaps it would be better to call this “remaining charge”
    ·       “Estimated time remaining” – measured in hours, in my case, it is always under 15 houts.  There is no explanation what it means, I would guess that this is “how many hours will your phone work in stand-by mode”, but then it is way way below what Nokia said – measured in hundreds of hours.
    ·       “Time since last charge – measured in hours.
So below I summarise my findings, but first, my unit parameters:
    Color: Cyan (does not seem to make any difference to people out there – problems “cross” colours;
    OS: “7.10.7740.16”
    Firmware: 1600.2475.7720.11414
    Hardware: 112.1402.2.3
    So, in MY case:
    1.     “Battery Status” screen:
    ·       “Charged” – seems to ALWAYS display the figure “65535%”, like all others on the forums.  This must be some kind of mistake because it does not change or update and makes no sense, now that we are in this so deep, I hope that Nokia explains what the hell this means, if at all;
    ·       “Voltage” – seems to show figures of between 3.700 V (i.e., volts) to 4.1 or 4.2 volts.  When the battery is low, the voltage seems also to fall below 4.0;
    ·       “Current”, followed by “charging” or “discharging” and the current, usually between 130 mA (i.e., milliamp) and 500 mA.  When the battery “plays nice”, i.e., there is no “problem”, this figure is under 150 ma, usually going seesaw between 140 and 155.  When 3G is on, it is above 250 towards 270 mA
    ·       “Full Charge Capacity” – showing for me usually above 1,500, constantly changes, though less frequently then other figures in this screen.  Strangely I noticed that when it is cold (I was jogging and it was in an external pocket with about 7C outside), this number went lower, under 1,500.  Perhaps the battery when colder can hold less charge?  Nokia should explain.  I think that in case of Hadware versions that end in “x.4” the maximum in this parameter is reported under 1,000.
    ·       “Remaining Charge Capacity” – in my unit this never reaches the “Full Charge Capacity” (which is usually slightly above 1,500 mAh), it stops below 1,350 mAh.
    2.     “Battery Saver Screen” and the battery icon on the main screen:
In my case, because the “Remaining” charge never reaches close to the “Full Charge”, when I disconnect the phone from charger, I get straight that “Remaining Battery Life” is “94%” (1350/1500 or so) – and the icon is never 100% “full”, rather “almost” full.  “Estimated time remaining” never really above 15 hrs.
So, there seem to be (at least) two major issues/problems in relation to battery/working-time:
    1.     Firmware revision (probably) “x.4” may have a faulty battery that would not charge above 1,000 mAh (950 mAh is mentioned by many, or about 1/3rd less than intended by Nokia (unless it is a software bug, which will be huge relief for all, especially for nokia);
    2.     Firmware revision “x.3” may have escaped the “crippled” battery of revision “x.4” guys, but from time to time it can lose battery charge at least 2 times faster than otherwise, most likely due to some background processes that can be felt as the device becomes warm even when not switched on (i.e., in stand-by mode).  This seems to be intermittent or random and can be stopped by powering-down the phone and then powering-up again.
    3.     In all cases, the claim that the phone can be several days in sand-by mode, must be wrong and Nokia must address and explain this.
So in summary, at least in respect of battery, there is a mess.  Will be interesting if some people with other WP7 devices can chip-in and say whether it is similar in their cases, but Nokia should be open and explain and even admit mistakes, I hope that this can be rectified by software, or at least it is not a “terminal” complication for Lumia 800, which is a beautiful device.

I would like to thank all the people here who have taken the time to put all this info together for us all and hope it is of help to the folks who are having trouble with battery life. I'm not doing to bad on battery life myself as it always last me though the working part of the day when I don’t have access to a charger and I will soon be updating my car cradle to take the Lumia so will have access to a charger though the day to. Personally I have come from the N900 and that phone also had some battery issues when it first came out which where pretty much sorted over time, as for manufactures claims on battery life, I always read these figures the same way I would read expected miles per gallon that car manufactures put out, meaning that there would only be a very select few that would ever get what the manufactures say you can get the rest of us will all get a very wide variation on these figures. I know that Nokia have acknowledged that there is an issue with battery life and not all of us have this issue, at this moment in time I'm not to unhappy with the battery life, but if it improves then I will be pleased. From all the posts I have read on this site it does seem that some people do read manufactures specifications as if there are set in stone, I'm not criticizing anyone here would just like to say that they are trying to sell you something so have a good look at the figures and maybe check them with other independent sources if at all possible. My only disappointment really is that we have to rely on other people and not Nokia themselves to let us know what’s going on, I wish the manufacture would be more open and quicker to let us know what’s going on and what they are doing to sort out problems and some sort of time frame that we could expect something to come out to fix a problem. I know bugs can me very difficult to find and ever more difficult to fix sometimes but if Nokia put out a weekly report about how things where going on bug fixes or forth coming updates it would help everyone in deciding where they are going with their chosen product.
Again many thanks to all the people helping us all out and wish you all a happy bug free new year.
