Lync 2013 Crashing on Video Preview
Hi,
I have a problem with a laptop where as soon as hovering over video preview lync crashes. I have updated/re-installed internal webcam drivers, graphics drivers. Ran repair on office, i'm looking to see if anyone has any other things to check?
Thanks in advance
Chris

Lync 2013 crashes when video preview or video is loading
Hey all,
For my work I have Office 365 (tried 32bit and 64bit) and this is installed on my windows 8.1 laptop of Dell. There are no problem using the software. But when I'm running lync and on purpose or by accidant go over the video icon in a conversation,
my lync freezes and after a while it wants to restart. The other microsoft voip software (Skype) does not have this issue and works perfectly. Also it is possible to open my video settings, the webcam will show everything like it should. Only hovering the
video icon in a chat is enough to make lync crash. For my work I'm really relying on lync., so I hope ther is a solution for this problem.
The webcam is a Quanta H.264 Integrate Webcam and it was working on a combination of earlier versions of windows and lync.
With some my colleagues (same laptop) running earlier version of windows there are no issues.
Is there some way to fix this problem?
thanks,Mostly this problem is related with video driver.
Please try to update your video driver.

Video driver in the image was originally out of date, changed the driver to the latest and greatest available straight from Intel for the Intel HD 3000 graphics card and this error still appears. Driver 9.17.10.3517 exceeds the minimum requirement
for Lync 2013. The faulting module is related to the graphics driver, but reinstalling does nothing, uninstalling and then reinstalling does nothing, it cannot further be upgraded. This same error affects all the Dell latitude e6520's. It
also only occurs in Windows 8.1. The windows 7 image using the exact same driver version (both the outdated driver and latest driver) works just fine with Lync 2013.
Running Lync with administrative permissions does nothing, disabling hardware acceleration did nothing. None of our laptops come with the bluetooth adapter, and also updated all other drivers such as chipset and soundcard. Error occurs on the
RTM version of Lync, and Lync with SP1 fully updated. The rest of Office 2013 works fine. I am currently at a loss here short of telling the help desk to not image E6520's with Windows 8.1 because Lync 2013 doesn't work on it. But there has
to be a reason for it. Calling out for some suggestions here.
Thanks! We also have the same issue with Dell E6420 running Windows 8.1. Lync application does not respond after start-up. Did you try looking for the error file under
C:\users\username\appdata\local\Microsoft\Windows\WER\Reportarchive
it should create file like AppHang_lync.exe_some numbers. search for the latest one.
Interesting, I don't have any 6420's handy but figured the issue would exist on those also. I looked up the location you mention and see many crash logs for Lync. Not really sure what the error is, just says it stopped working.

T440P [20AN] - Lync 2013 Crashing When Sharing Desktop - Intel Driver
Hello,
After updating to the latest video drivers from the ThinkVantage Update Retriever, our Lync clients crash when sharing desktop on our T440P series and X240 series. I noticed when I uninstall the video driver I am able to screen share without incident. Also, if I update the driver from Windows Update I am able to share successfully. We use the update retriever and thininstaller to install our drivers in our environment. I have tried uninstalling the Lync updates all the way down to the base version and experience the same issue at every level. It crashes 100% of the time when sharing desktop. I have tested it on T440p machines in our environment that do not have the latest display driver, and no crashes occurred. Here are the specifics:
Thinkpad X240 [20AL]
Thinkpad T440p [20AN]
ThinkVantage Update Retriever 5.00.0007
Thinkvantage Thin Installer 1.2.0010

I'm still waiting on updated drivers to fix the issue, however, there is a workaround. If you disable Desktop Composition screen sharing will work.
Control Panel -> Performance and Information Tools -> Adjust Visual Effects -> Uncheck “Enable desktop composition

The nvwgf2um.dll is a video driver from Nvidea. A colleague had the same Lync issue and his Intel Video driver on his computer was the reported file that caused his Lync 2013 client to crash. He has a different video card in his computer.
What cause Lync 2013 to crash. We both are using 15.0.4623.1000 version of Lync 2013Try to update to the latest Lync 2013 client version.
Try the latest update from september.

Lync 2013 crashes when double-clicking on contact to send IM...
I have a 64 bit Windows 7 machine. I have Office 2010 and 2013 installed. I am able to successfully run Lync 2013 and login to the Lync Server and see my contacts and their statuses online. However, every time I double-click on a contact name to send
them an IM i get a message saying "Microsoft Lync has stopped working" and Lync shuts down and restarts. When I debug the error using Visual Studio 2010 I get an "Unhandled exception... Access violation" error.
Here is what I know so far... It has to do with some incompatibility with Office 2010, because when I uninstall Office 2010, Lync 2013 starts working properly. (However, I need Office 2010 installed for supporting my clients. <sigh>)
Here's is what I've done so far...
1. Uninstalled Office 2013 = Lync 2013 still crashes.
2. Uninstalled Office 2010 = Lync 2013 works fine now.
3. Reinstalled Office 2013 w/out Office 2010 present = Lync 2013 works fine.
4. Reinstalled Office 2010 followed by Office 2013 = Lync 2013 still crashes.
5. I've also delete the sip_ folder to have Lync recreate it = that doesn't work either.
I have also updated Lync 2013 to the latest version update provided by Microsoft, but nothing seems to help.
My Event Viewer says the following:
Faulting application name: lync.exe, version: 15.0.4675.1000, time stamp: 0x54629b57

Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!Hi bihtime3,
I understand the inconvenience caused by this issue. I would like to confirm if you have tried the following scenarios.
1. Repairing Office 2013 after installing Office 2010.
2. Installing Office 2010 before installing Office 2013.

Lync 2013 Mobility Client - Video Call Issue (Everything Else works).
Hey Technet’ies,
I have been struggling for a couple of weeks now to resolve one of the final issues with a Migration/Upgrade Project on Lync Server 2013.
I have nearly every Lync Client Scenario working well except the Mobility Client (outside of the domain) which cannot successfully complete a Video
Call to a Windows Desktop Client (inside the domain) – the toast pops up, but when we click accept - it just times out after 15 seconds
K
The strange thing is every other Video Call scenario works;
Mobility Client (Outside Domain)
àWindows Desktop Client (Inside Domain)
= Unsuccessful

à Windows Desktop Client (Inside Domain) = Successful

Our setup is pretty standard;
All OS servers are Win Server 2012 R2
Lync 2013 Standard FE Server
Lync 2013 Edge Server
Reverse Proxy IIS AAR (Also Win Server 20012 R2)
Lync 2013 Desktop Clients, Lync 2011 Mac Clients, IOS and Android Mobility Clients – all latest versions.
External NAT (via Cisco Routers ACL’s)
Internal Windows Firewall Currently off on all Servers
All Certs / DNS Configured as per Technet Recommendation
I have reviewed / analysed a number of log/trace files – looking for some/any information on the problem;
Mobility Client (cmlogX.log)
Windows Desktop Client (*.etl) / Microsoft Message Analyzer
Lync 2013 Server (CSController)
With all my looking I could not make out an error except a timeout (15 seconds) on the Mobility Client log (which I currently can’t find).
Clearly we are missing something and I have gone up and down our implementation a number of times, the only semi-unknown is our old 2010 Pool / Central Management Server (which is currently pretty much redundant but the majority of users still on).
I would really appreciate any feedback anyone can provide or any insight anyone may have on this challenge.
Thanks in advance, Alex.
AlexHi Andrew,
Thanks for the quick contact!!
Sorry - typo in my post, I have now corrected it;
Mobility
Client (Outside Domain) àWindows
Desktop Client (Inside Domain) = Unsuccessful
So I completely missed that blog post of yours (out of the 100's I have read) and you are the first person to clearly say (in simple terms) to point the lyncweb.contso.com to the public IP address on my internal DNS, I have just made that change and see
if it will correct the issue - will wait for replication.
Also I am running IIS / AAR as Reverse Proxy (not ISA) and had the Internal DNS Host A of lyncweb.contso.com and lyncdiscover.contso.com point back to my Reverse Proxy Internal NIC (i.e. 10.1.1.32) as the External NIC is isolated on in the Perimeter Network,
is this correct?
So it now goes like this
*Inside Domain*
lyncdiscover.contson.com --> 10.1.1.32 (Reverse Proxy Internal Nic) --> 10.1.1.26 (Front End Server)
lyncweb.contson.com --> 201.183.0.1 (Reverse Proxy External Nic - Public IP) --> 10.1.2.16 (Reverse Proxy External Nic) --> 10.1.1.26 (Front End Server)
Does this make any sense, I know ISA and IIS/AAR are pretty much interchangeable.
Thanks again Andrew and look forward to any feedback,
Alex.

Lync 2013 crashes on start up.
My Lync 2013 client is crashing on start up.
I already tried to completely remove Office 2013 en re-install it, but that doesn't help. All Windows updates are installed.
Running as Administrator also doesn't solve the issue.
All other Office programs are working.
When I start Lync, after 2 seconds this happens:
I see this error on the Event viewer:
I have a HP 8770w with Windows 8 Pro, 64 bit.
Office Professional Plus 2013, 64 bit version.Try to update your Graphic Card drivers to the latest version

Please try to disable any local antivirus software to see if that fixes the issue.
Please remove Silverlight and reinstall it:

Lync 2013 Crashes When Transferring From Response Group
Hello,
Seeing a very strange issue on a couple of our clients running Lync 2013. Whenever they transfer a call from their response group Lync will crash. Calls into their direct line will transfer just fine. Here are two of the event logs we have

We have tried a number of things this to get this working, but nothing has worked.
Installed Office 2013 SP1
Completely re imaged the client's computers
Deployed new Polycom Lync phones
Completely removed clients from their response group and the Lync server and added them back
I'm not sure where to go from here or what might be causing this. I would appreciate any thoughts you might have. Thank you!By default, calls from Response Groups ignore call forwarding or simultaneous ring settings.

Adobe Premiere Pro crashes on video preview
Hello,
I was recently working on a project and had Premiere Pro opened, then I had to update my video card drivers, because I had all sort of visual glitches in my games, occasionally when watching movies and the drivers were completely crashing every now and then. At some point during the update my screen went all azure-colored and my computer was completely non-responsive, so I had to restart it, after some waiting. After which the drivers appear to have been installed correctly but when I tried to start Premiere it crashed after loading my project. After a reinstall the same thing kept on occurring, it turned out premiere can start by itself with no problems and even import video files, but the moment I put the video file on the preview window, either by dragging it or by putting it in the timeline, Premiere crashes.
My stupid video card is "SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X R9 270X 2G G5", like I said I updated the drivers, because it was causing problems, it is still uncertain if the update fixed those issues, but now I have a problem with Premiere, which was working fine before that.
I also cleared the media caches, no effect. The crash occurs with any video file, not just with my last project.
Any ideas? Will do, however in the meantime I found out Premiere works fine if in a new project I set the rendering to be only software, without the GPU, also in all cases audio import, preview and playback are unaffected.
I was sort of hoping I could play games AND rend video, what are the chances of that? -
[Solved]E17 crashes on video preview.
On certain types of files. Most likely is X that crashes because when i try to enlightenment_remote -restart it from a terminal i get a message about d_bus and X.
It works on .mp4 & .mkv but crashes with .ogg .mpg. Haven't tried anything else. Also crashes when i double click a .mpg file.
Any ideas.

Microsoft Office Lync 2013 crashing
Client will run for a while, but when idle in the background it locks up to when the user needs to use it, it crashes.
We then try to restart it and it states it is unresponsive and then closes. The program will then not run at all, creating an issue of uninstalling it and reinstalling to repair any faults. We are checking on the issue of possibly having multiple
installs, and updates on the computer as we speak.
Just wanted to know if the suggestions that were posted earlier have helped and if this may be something new.
We downloaded this program off of our Office 365 account and it has given us issues ever since.
Thanks for any suggestions.
SteveHi,
Did you install Bluetooth utility on the computer?
If yes, try to disable it, restart computer and test again.
It also may happen with the conflicts of other software, please try to perform Clean Boot for troubleshooting:

How to improve the video quality send by lync 2013?
we have one sip client make call with lync 2013 client, and each other support MS rtv video capabilities, after the sip session begin, then video rtp packet send on each directory, all the time our client send 720p video codec to lync 2013 client
, but we only receive the lower format video codec from lync 2013 , and the video format is changed all the time ,some times is 720p then 960*544, then 960*720, or 630*360,,etc. we wonder how can lync client send stable 720p video codec, and we have acheive
the funtion accord ms-rtp.pdf document, and our client can calculate bandwidth using rtcp step accord ms-rtcp , then we should do what else in order to get stable 720p from lync 2013...thank you.thank you
now we realy have enoght network bandwidth, is heigher to 4-6Mbps, so I think which is in one right work enviroment.
Now I notice that the video format received from lync 2013 at the begining of the call is 720p, and some times change to 960*720, or 960*544, but for many time it may be change between these three formats, but in some times the video format would
change to 640*360, once which change to this mode then it would keep in this sitiunation for long long time, and would never chanege to the heigher ones so it is one incredible things.
how could we change this sitiuation to get one good video format for heigher video effect. -
Lync Client Crashes on Inbound Calls
Hello,
We have a number of users (about half) complaining that Lync 2013 crashes when an inbound call comes in. We are running a fully patched Lync 2013 deployment with a fully patched Lync/Office 2013 deployment. Any suggestions would be helpful. It seems to especially
plague users connected to their CX700's, but this is not exclusively a problem they experience.Hi,
Would you tell us which model of audio and video device do you use?
Please switch an audio device to test the issue.
Please also un-plug CX700 to test the issue.
If the issue persists, please check event viewer for further troubleshooting.
Best Regards,

There was a thread here in the discussion forums a few weeks ago about the camera not working with Adobe flash and a "workaround" was given. Does anyone have quick access to that by chance? John (NYC)
