Lync slow connection issues, long login times

hi
i currently have this issue with uses externally over the Wan connecting to lync server. the users are experiencing long log in times.
i have attached a link for the decrypted wireshark file. any assistance will be much appreciated.

Did you deploy Lync Edge Server?
For external access of Lync user, you need to deploy Lync Edge Server.
If you have deployed Lync Edge Server, please follow the link below to check your Lync Edge is configured correctly.

  • Long login times on solaris 10

I had this nested in another thread, pulling it out to be seen
    easier I hope...
I have a solaris 10 install that has a very long login time.
If you telnet or ssh to the machine, you are prompted for the username
and then password, then the system takes 4-5 minutes
to get you into the system. (to a prompt)
We do not use NIS and the home directory is on the local
root disk, so I don't think it would be an issue of finding
    the home dir.
Initially I saw this problem above, where I would get a username
prompt, then the many minute pause, then the password prompt.
Once I'm in past this point, I have no problems. I don't see any errors
    in the logs either.
I initally thought it might be the pam.conf causing problems.
(was just doing ssh) but I've seen the same issue from telnet
and I've removed the one call in sshd_conf to pam that I
    could find.

how is the resolver working? Can you reverse-lookup IP addresses?
When you logon to the machine using ssh SSH will try and reverselookup your IP-address, if this doesn't succeed there will be a timeout of a few minutes.
So, try and run nslookup <an ip address> to test your resolver.
    Also verify you resolv configuration:
    grep ^hosts /etc/nsswitch.conf
    cat /etc/resolv.conf
    7/M.

  • I am having wireless connectivity issues with my time capsule

Over the last 3 days my wireless devices have been having issues with connectivity.
    Network setup:
Modem - Motorola SB5102 Cable Modem
1 TB Time Capsule 802.11n (second generation)
The devices are approximately 3 feet apart.
    Wired Device:
Mac Pro (2008 build) running OSX 10.6.8, Airport Utility 5.6.1
    Wireless Devices:
    Playstation 3
    Macbook Air
    iPhone 5c
    iPhone 4
I am having issues with internet connectivity. The wireless signal strength is fine as all devices can find the network. However when connected to the network accessing the internet on the Macbook Air, or either iPhone is slow and streaming services such as Netflix cannot connect. I have intermitant connectivity to the Playstation Network on the PS3.
I have wired both the Macbook Air and PS3 directly to the Time Capsule and have no issues, internet is accessible and streaming services are fine.
I have power cycled all the devices (Time Capsule, macbook, iphones, PS3, modem) to no result.
I am looking for any other suggestions that may help me with my wireless connectivity issue.

A Gen2 TC is probably on its last gasp.. and it is well overdue for replacement.
If you want to get more life out of it you normally need to repair or replace the internal power supply.. This is not done by apple or any of their repair centres.
Just do ebay search and you will find sellers with replacement supplies.
Otherwise to test, do a full factory reset..
I would also downgrade the firmware.. 7.5.2 will work just as well for you and has less bugs than 7.6.x firmware.
To downgrade hold down the option key when you select firmware version.
    The Factory Reset universal
Unplug your TC/AE. Hold in reset. and power the TC/AE back on..  all without releasing reset and keep holding in for about 10sec. The time is not important.. it is the front LED rapid flashing that indicates you are in factory mode.
    Release reset.
If it doesn’t flash rapidly you have released reset at some point and try again.
Be Gentle! Feel the switch click on. It has a positive feel..  add no more pressure after that.
TC/AE will reboot after a couple of minutes with default factory settings and will wipe out previous configurations.
No files are deleted on the hard disk.. No reset of the TC deletes files.. to do that you use erase from the airport utility.

  • WRT300N V1.1 - Firmw v1.51.2 - Problems to get wireless connection after long idle time

    Hello,
    I have a WRT300N, v1.1 with latest firmware available (v1.51.2).
I've been experiencing a strange problem:
    1. After long idle time (router is on, no devices are using it wirelessly), no device can get a wireless connection;
    2. I have tried using different OSes (Windows XP SP2, Windows Vista, and Symbian OS);
    3. Wireline connection to a FE port works (if I plug a device using the cable, I can get an IP address and navigate to the internet).
    4. If power reset it (WRT300N), I can get wireless connections working again.
    Is this a known issue?
    Thanks, Gustavo

Well as you are able to go online from your Hardwired Computer, then i think you need to make some changes on the Wireless Part of your Router. Follow this settings on your Router, i think this might solve the problem.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
For Wireless Settings, please do the following : -
    Click on the Wireless tab
    - Here select manual configuration...Wireless Network mode should be mixed...
    - Provide a unique name in the Wireless Network Name (SSID) box in order to differentiate your network from your neighbours network...
    - Set the Radio Band to Wide-40MHz and change the Wide channel to 9 and Standard Channel to 11-2.462GHz...Wireless SSID broadcast should be Enabled and then click on save settings...
Please make a note of Wireless Network Name (SSID) as this is the Network Identifier...
    For Wireless Security : -
Click on the Sub tab under Wireless > Wireless Security...
Change the Wireless security mode to WPA, For Encryption, select AES...For Passphrase input your desired WPA Key. For example , MySecretKey , This will serve as your network key whenever you connect to your wireless network. Do NOT give this key to anyone.
NOTE : Passphrase should be more that 8 characters...
    Click on Advanced Wireless Settings
Change the Beacon Interval to 50 >>Change the Fragmentation Threshold to 2304 Change the RTS Threshold to 2307 >>Click on "Save Settings"...
Now see if you can locate your Wireless Network and attempt to connect...

I would really appreciate any advice you have to offer! (P.s Connection time is so low because I recently connected the router to the test socket to see if there was a problem with my internal wiring)
I've been experiencing a slow connection speed (even though the router is connected to the master socket) much slower than with my previous provider and a very intermittent service. The broadband connection seems to drop out every time the landline is in use and when using the landline you can hear a lot of static/crackling in the background.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Have you tried another known working telephone into that test socket without an ADSL fiter.
If you have done all that you will need to report to your comms provider, if its BT Retail you will need to call them on 0800 800 151 or 0330 123 4151 from a mobile phone.
They will mention about charges but as long as you have done as suggested and you have not damaged any of the incoming wiring there "should" be no charge. when you phone do NOT mention broadband once any noise on your line is solved then your broadband will improve

  • Long login times

    Hi all,
    I have 2 Netware servers: 6 sp5 & 6.5 sp7
The NW client, mostly 4.91 sp4, but some older, are all setup for contextless login. It has been working for at least 2 years now. Recently, our login time has changed from seconds to about 45 seconds. This is happening to every workstation, so I am inclined to think it isn't a workstation setting issue.
Contextless login seems to be working properly. When you type in a username it finds it immediately. The other odd part is that if you go to Advanced then Tree and manually select the tree, it logs in properly.
I have DHCP pushing these options:
    78 - Directory Agent
    79 - Service Scope
    85 - NDS Servers
    86 - NDS Tree Name
Any ideas would be seriously appreciated.

I've got a wireshark packet capture that contains a workstation login, but I'm not getting much from reading it. I don't really feel comfortable posting a packet capture with a login to an open forum though. Can I send it to someone's email directly instead?
It happened quickly, not gradually over time. I'm a one man IT shop, so this has been like this for over a month while I've had to deal with more pressing matters.
It happens every time without fail. You can get around the lag by going to Advanced > Tree >manually select the tree >then login.
No hardware changes. I have to check, but I'm pretty sure it was right around when I installed some patches to both NW servers.
It might have to do with trying to get MS AD to use our Netware DNS servers. I thought I was being intelligent when I named the AD forest the same as our registered domain name. Our Netware 6.5 server has been serving our domain to the world happily for years now.
Exported our internal Primary DNS zone (Our ISP handles our Public DNS).
Forgot to export the In-ADDR.ARPA zone. Silly me.
Put the NW DNS servers as the Windows 2003 Domain Controller DNS servers.
Added the Windows server to the Netware DNS Allow Update.
It immediately did it's job... and hijacked the registered domain name to the Windows server seeing as that was what I had named the forest. Blushing from stupidity :-(
So to immediately get our domain back up, I created a forwarding default webpage pointing to the real web server on our Netware 6.5 box. After a few days, I decided to remove all things AD from our NW DNS and find a different method. So I removed the Windows server from the Allow Update list and manually deleted anything AD in our NW DNS. Finally re-imported the Pre-AD DNS and looked through the In-ADDR.ARPA zone for any wrong entries.

OK so it's before the login script even starts, so that eliminates many
possible candidates. We'll need to see what's happening on the wire in
    that period.
What change or update triggered the problem? Was it OK one day then
suddenly like this the next, or gradually got worse, or what? Any
changes in your network infrastructure around the time it happened? Does
it happen every time on every PC, without fail? Any clues will be helpful.

  • Extremely long login times

I'm running a 10.6.7 server with my clients logging into the LDAP. For whatever reason, the clients' login times are usually 5+ minutes. I would imagine that this is some sort of authentication issue but haven't the slightest  idea where to attempt to start to troubleshoot. Has anyone come across this before? DNS seems ok, and once the users are logged in everything seems to work fine. Could it be Kerberos that is causing the issue?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Check your date and time on the client computers.  Be sure that they match the time on the server.  Kerberos requires that the time be accurate for it to work properly.
    ...just a hunch...

  • Macromedia Contribute 3.11 Slow Connection issues Windows 7

I have got Macromedia Contribute 3.11, i am experiencing lot of issues at the moment.
Firstly, it takes a long time to connect to the server, most of the times it connects to the server, sometimes it fails, but the time it takes to connect to the server is unacceptable.
Secondly, contribute is taking a long time to publish the webpages.
I am using Windows 7, when I ran the compatibility check, it said incompatible detected, and suggested to change to Windows XP Service Pack 2. I did that, but still the issue persists...
Any suggestions or recommendations would be really appreciated.

    Hi,
To speed up RDP connection, please select High Color (16 bit) under Colors, and under Experience tab, select Modem (56 Kbps).
To make IE fast, safe and stable, please attempt to run this fixit below:

  • Running XL Reporter results in long login time

I am having a problem with XL Reporter being extremely slow to start at a client. It takes about 5 min to login to the system with XL Reporter. If disabled, the users login without any problems at all.
Also, scheduled reports are not sent out - but the log states that the job ran successfully. my guess is that it times out somewhere in the process and is related to the logon issue/start of XLR.
The client is running 2005A PL 51 on a Win 2003 server, SP2 with 2 GB ram.
once in, the system performs just fine.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,

For your schduled reports check the event viewer to see if the mailer is working, check that you have the sender email address defined in the XL Reporter>Tools>General ?(from memory) section. Otherwise, the issue is likely to be with the excahnge server.
This feature does work, although sometimes does not close the report after sending it, leaving runnin g processes that disrupt the following reports.
We have found that XL Reports do take a lot of processing time and a lot of CPU time after upgrade to 2007A, so have tried to remove as many as possible from the start menu and onto scheduled tasks to remove the load during the day.

  • IPhone 6 wifi slow/connectivity issues

I am new to the Apple family, and i just bought the iPhone 6. I am experiencing frustrating amount of WiFi problems with this phone. I updated to iOS 8.1 last night hoping the problem goes away but it still persists.
I am connected to the home WiFi, but the webpage loading/receiving Whatsapp messages/accessing App Store is mind-numbingly slow on a good day, and refuses to load anything when i desperately need it. My WiFi works perfectly with all other devices connected on the network. Including my old phone.
I have tried all the methods i could find online.
    Turn Wi-Fi off and on
Forget WiFi network and connect again
    Reset Network Settings
    Change DNS
    Restore from iTunes Backup
    Restore as a new device
    Turning router off and on
    Network is on WPA2
Frankly, i have had it with Apple. I am regretting buying this. I am burning through my LTE data, and with more than 20 days on the month cycle and less than 1 gig of data left, i am looking at a huge amount for the mobile bill if the issue doesn't get sorted soon.
Is there any other suggestion? Any other idea? Or will i just have to smash this piece of crap to bits and cry over dollars spent over nothing?

I should add that after backing up my data from my old iPhone 5 through iTunes and then migrating the data through iTunes to my new iPhone 6, the iPhone 6 seemed to recognize WiFi hotspots I'd previously used with my iPhone 5, but didn't take the passwords with it. That is, for each WiFi hotspot, it would try to connect to the hotspot but would tell me that the password was wrong/had to be re-entered. I wasn't sure whether this was a bug or whether it was somehow by design; and I assumed that, if it were a bug, it was unrelated to the issues I mentioned in my previous post. Now I'm less sure that they're unrelated.

  • Voicemail issue - long pickup time

I have had an issue for the last 3 - 4 weeks where my phone rings up to 9 times before voice mail picks up. I worked with AT&T for over an hour today (2 different techs) and they were unable to correct this (even by changing the ring time on the network side!). They recommended I contact apple (even though they are the carrier). Has anyone else experienced this issue and what steps did you take, if any, to correct this? thanks..

I have tried to do that three times now, but instead of getting a steady dial tone, I get three quick beeps (dial tone sound, but quick beeps, instead of a steady dialtone).
I don't want to be charged for all the spam calls I am getting.  So, I just don't answer when they call.  But, apparently, those spam calls get sent to VM forwarding and then there is a charge on my account.
I don't want to have anyone be able to leave any kind of message, if I do not answer.  So please explain how I can stop being charged for spam calls, that I do not answer?
    Thanks

  • Yet another slow connection issue

My broadband speed is totally unreliable - and from a quick scan of the forums it seems I'm not the only one!
Much the same as numerous other posters, I'm paying for up to 8meg broadband but typically getting far less than that.  Being in a rural location i appreciate that the local phone exchange probably isn't the most high tech facility in the world, but we're only 2 miles away from it and the speed tester has recorded up to 7meg on occasion.  Today, and this seems to be an increasingly frequent occurence, the speed tester says "your IP profile is 250k".
We had an engineer out 3 weeks ago for the same problem but he could find no faults at the house, said there were no reported faults on the local exchange and the morning before he arrived the IP profile had already been reset to a more usable level.  Rang the call centre again today and after wasting about an hour trying to explain the problem then waiting for him to check things and call me back, then explaining the same thing over again, absolutely nothing has been resolved and they want to send out another engineer.
I have a couple of very simple questions which the customer services team seem incapable of answering:
    1. what is the reason for my IP profile being set so low?
    2. what needs to be done to fix it now?
    3. what needs to be done to stop it happening again?
I don't think the guy I spoke to actually knows what an IP profile is, let alone how to resolve a problem with it.  What is the point of a technical support helpline when the staff quite obviously have no technical knowledge?!

Have spent another hour of my life on the phone to BT helpline this afternoon.
Apparently the reason we hadn't received the call back yesterday was due to a "technical issue" at their end and the request had not been passed on to the engineer team.
Having gone through exactly the same conversation and process as on Tuesday, the helpline chap has run his tests and when pressed told me that he could determine no faults on the line.  An engineer might be able to determine other faults though so he would like to book an appointment for an engineer to call.
Unfortunately, even though I've waited 2 days for this already because they didn't pass on the engineer request the other day, they can't do anything to prioritise the call so I've now got to wait up to another 48hrs for somebody to ring me to book the appointment.  As its Thursday now, that probably means that it could Monday before that happens and therefore probably the middle of next week before the engineer actually gets to the house.  So another week of broadband that is barely faster than dial up.

  • Connection issues dropping multiple times

When with talk talk they changed the profile to 12db interleaved which seemed to be a lot better, can this be done for me with BT?

    welcome to the forum
that could be done but it may some forum members can offer some help which may get the noise problem solved and enable the noise margin to remain at 6
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems) http://speedtester.bt.com or http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9354/c/346,4740,5520 and post the results .
are you connected directly to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
