MAIL on TIGER OS 10.4  Only prints Header .NOT text of message

Before anyone comments that this post should be on the MAIL forum - let me state that I did try the MAIL forum -- and as usual got ZERO responses --
Has anyone experienced the following in MAIL on TIGER - latest version ::
If I key [type] cmd. P on an email -- the only part that prints out the first "try" is the headers -- it does not NOT print the message. STRANGE just started doing this behavior..
If I key cmd. P a second time it DOES NOT seem to work , most of the time.
If I use the Print command under the File pulldown menu --- it seems to work OK
This does not happen in Safari.
What is going on here ??????
Safari work just fine.
Thanks,
Samuel.

In your mail program, you'll need to first click in the lower window where the text of the message is, to activate it; then using Cmd/P should print the contents of that window.

  • Officejet 6500 wireless only print header and footer.

I have Dell desktop and Toshiba laptop with HP officejet 6500. On my Dell, pages from the internet (email, etc) only print the top line and bottom line of the page. Pages from Word, Exel, etc print fine. On my Toshiba laptop every thing prints ok. This is a Dell 519 desktop. This is a wireless setup. Hope this is enough info. Appreciate any help I can get Thank You. [email protected]

Just to be clear - the 6500 is connected to your router via wireless?  What brand/model of router?
Your MBPro has two instances of the printer (one USB and one wireless)?  If so, delete the USB instance.  Also, turn printer sharing off.
Now, go to the other computers and delete and re-add the printer in the print queue:
    - Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
    - Select the printer in question and click the minus sign at the bottom of the list
    - Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer with Bonjour next to it, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If this does not work, do the same thing, only instead of the second step, right (control) click the print queue area and select Reset Printing System.

  • Appleworks database prints only header, not text

Appleworks 6.2.9, Mac OS 10.4.3, HP 6110 all-in-one printer with recent reinstall of driver (many other problems, now more or less cured). I have an oft-used database document (a wine list) which will print correctly in its original format, but when I change the page setup it prints only the header and not the database. Same in Preview although the whole page shows in the window. Tried saving the document as AW 5 and reopening -- nada. Ideas? Thanks.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions Michael
The easiest & best first step in troubleshooting is to delete the AppleWorks preferences. See my user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly, for more information.
Do you have another printer you can try? HP printers are notorious for not "playing nice" with AppleWorks (& they don't do very well with Pages, either). Make sure you have the newest HP driver & that you use Disk Utility to repair permissions after installing any software or update that asks for your admin password.
A workaround that is often successful is to save the document as a PDF & then print the PDF.

  • Yellow printing green, print heads not cleaning and apparent leaking of cartridge

We have been having problems with the quality of the printing from our printer.
We noticed the colour was a bit off and ran a report, we found that the block of yellow that came out (where it tells you the estimated ink levels) was a dark green/grey colour.
We also noticed a black/grey tinge to the Magenta part.
There were also very thin lines on the Cyan section.
So we cleaned the print heads.
We did the whole three levels of cleaning and it didn't help at all.
After searching the net again, I found something where somebody had said their ink had leaked so I looked at the cartidges themselves (I didn't touch any part of the head!) and when  I looked at the yellow one I found that yellow seemed to have leaked... but I couldn't see from where. It was only a small amount.
I found something on here that recommended making a block of yellow on Word and printing it out a few times to see if anything improved. I did this and the block of yellow not only came out dark green again, but on each page there were horizontal gaps and on each successive page the gaps were a lot wider.
I have just done a similr thing for yellow, magenta and cyan  where I put a block of each colour on one page and printed it a few times.
The Yellow (at the top) is very nearly a solid dark green with a few darkish lines running through it.
The magenta has a few white horisontal lines passing through it.
The cyan has a few thick light blue horitonal lines passing through it with white lines inside of those light clue lines.
The reports show that the heads are aligned.
Is there a chance that the black is leaking somehow into the yellow? As that is the only colour that seemed to be changing. I've replaced the black ink, but I don't want to now also waste a yellow ink if it's not going to help.
Replacing the yellow ink will also not help with the problem of lines through the other colours.
Is there a way of cleaning the left over ink that may be hanging around inside the printer tubes?

  • HP 3520 All in One Printer. Print head not moving

Hello my Printer has a serious problem. The print head was slamming to the right side, and now it totally does not move. My printer may be past warrently or voided because it was opened up to clean up a bad ink spill inside at one point. It worked for awhile after. But now it is totally not doing anything. I had to remove the top to remove the cartridges. I do not see any obstruction inside the printer.
I know the cost of repairing it is probably more than replacing it. Posting here and seeing if someone can come up with some suggestions before the printer is disposed of.

    Hi peteym5,
Sorry to hear about your problem.
Before you dispose the printer, I would like to suggest you take it to a nearby HP service center and see
if they can be of any help or service. It probably won't cost anything to have an engineer diagnose the problem
and provide you with any options. Let me provide you with the information and hope you get some answers.

  • Replace print head (not cartridge) on 7250 multi function printer

Rather than trash my 7250 printer that I like, I would like to know how to replace the print head mechanism and a source to buy a print head.
Background: Everything works on the printer except the reds.  Plenty of ink.
No indication from printer on any failure.
Ink ports on both the cartridge and mounting port are clear. Magenta stopped all at once, Light majenta faded out shortly thereafter.
If the print head is not sold as a replacement part, I have a spare Hp 7360 printer from which I could scavenge a print head if necessary.
Anyone have any experience that can give me some pointers on replacing the print head or options other than trashing the printer?

TC (and airport extreme) peripheral support falls into universal (ethernet) and special (usb).
Anything that can be connected to the ethernet port will be translated through the wireless system and work just well (or not well) as it would if connected via ethernet. Devices plugged into the USB port (directly or through a hub) require special support by Apple. Apple writes drivers for these and adds a tab to the airport utility software. This used to be just printers. Currently, this is limited to printers and hard drives. MFCs go beyond the simple printing function Apple is trying to support via USB.
In my case, I have a Brother 7820n MFC. Its designed to operate over ethernet. Plugged into the TC, this means printing, scanning, and faxing (right out the phone jack) wirelessly - from every computer in the house.
Does your MFC offer an ethernet upgrade?

  • Why can only print header from outlook mail ok with explorer 8

I have installed both Firefox and Internet explorer 8.
When I try to print emails from Outlook I only get the header.
All is ok if i remove Firefox from the system and use internet explorer. Have just reinstalled firfox and I'm back to the problem again.

I hate to be persistant but I really need some help. Let me tell you what I've done so far.
I've gone to the HP site and downloaded the latest driver for the 1320n series printer and I reinstalled and set up the printer in the print center like I've always done with any of the printers I've set up before. I still can't print from Mail, Safari, and from the system. I see on the HP site that there is a fix in the Tiger system already (I think I'm reading that right) and I shouldn't be worrying about this.
I found in one of the other forum listings about a Foomatic/hpijs and I installed that one. Nothing printed. I tried using a Generic PPD. Nothing happened.
I reinstalled the Xerox Splash printer drivers from the disk and that didn't make a difference.
In the print window, I can't make a PDF, won't let me Preview, and won't let me Print. I click on the buttons and they won't even react. It doesn't do anything. But even with the new drivers I've set up since I started all this, I can still print from Quark and Acrobat Reader. So it seems it's got something to do with the system.
I'm really frustrated here. Can someone please give me a clue if they have one? Anything would be appreciated.

I am running IE9, on Windows 7, 64 bit. When I try to print, the selection shown is not what I get. When printed, I get the graphic portion, and some extranneous text, but no main text.

    Hi R0dder5,
WOOHOO! That’s great that you are printing in color again!
I have included the some screen shots of the HP ePrint app that shows you where you can change the settings to print with color, grayscale or black only.  I’ve included the screen shot showing this setting for web pages and email.

Hey ,  Welcome to the HP Support Forum.  I see that you're unable to use ePrint or enable webservices with your HP ENVY 7640 e-All-in-One Printer.  I would like to help.  Have you tried the basic ePrint/webservices setup method as recommended by HP?  If not, give that a shot first.  If this is not new to you please read on, I have some more suggestions that might enable this feature for you.   I recommend you set a Manual DNS on your printer.  Here's how:  Click on the HP ENVY 7640 icon on your PC desktop (note that I've used screenshots for a different printer, but the steps are essentially identical) to access the HP Printer Assistant.  Click on the Embedded Web Server link (EWS) and then click on the network tab as indicated below:   Next, click Wireless and then IPV4 Configuration as indicated below:     Next, click on Manual DNS Server and input the numbers exactly as indicated below, clicking on Apply to complete this aspect of your setup:   For the next step, you can use the EWS 'Webservices' tab to enable webservices/ePrint or enable from the printer's front panel by touching the  icon.  Touch OK to allow this feature to activate and also to allow for automatic printer updates.   If you were able to complete the above-noted steps without issue, you will be ready to send your printer ePrint jobs. For more information on how to setup a custom ePrint address click here.  If you're an Android or iOS device user, click here for more information on how to use the HP ePrint app.  In its most basic iteration, you can send your printer ePrint jobs from any web-ready device by emailing content you want to print directly to your printer's @hpeprint.com address.  Please let me know the result of your troubleshooting by responding to this post.  If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to say "You rock!" by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below and clicking to accept this solution. Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum.  Have a great day!

  • Adobe printing web pages - prints symbols not text

I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro 9 Version 9.5.0 on a PC running Windows 7 with IE 9 V9.0.8112.16421.
When I print from certain web pages, for example flight documents using the printer icon and printing to the Adobe PDF printer the resulting pdf file has symbols rather than text. For example, "Erhlqj#" rather than "Boeing". The 'fixed' graphics text prints ok and if I cut and paste the symbol text into another document, such as an e-mail, it prints correctly i.e. "Boeing" rather than "Erhlqj# "!
If I use the toolbar Convert button to product the pdf it is correct. I've tried 'Repair Acrobat Installation" but it made no difference.
Anyone any idea where the problem resides? It was working ok until a few months ago.
See example below: top line is how it views in the pdf, second line is how it views on the website.
    Cheers

  • Only ONE contact not working for Messages?

    Hi All,
Hope you can help me with this one... and please, I'm hoping for input from as many who have an idea, so please don't feel like there's no need to jump in on this even if there's someone else here posting with a solution. These threads are most useful with more than one insight. I'll try them all.
    So, here it goes...
We've got an iPhone 4s on one end... and probably (but I'm not certain) an iPhone 4s at the other (could be an iPhone 4).
On both ends, both users can send texts and SMS/MMS messages to everyone else in their respective phone books. They can also send each other emails successfully. But they cannot -- on either end -- send each other Messages (SMS/MMS or regular Messages).
On both ends, the other user comes up as a red contact and the messages bounce back "not delivered."
And we can't, for the life of us, figure out why.
ALSO, in case it means anything, only this ONE contact comes up as red when typed into Messages on the companion Macbook.  So it's not just the iPhone on our end that's an issue. (NOTE: I'm only at one end of the chain here, helping my mother-in-law with her phone. Her daughter is at the other, several States away. So we can't see what she's got going on with her phone.).
Here's what we've tried so far, with no luck (so jump past any recommendations that include the following, please):
    1) On both ends, we have deleted and recreated Contact cards.
    2) I logged out of iCloud, allowing it to delete the local contact cards etc. and logged back in.
    3) I logged out of the Messages account on this end and then logged back in.
    4) On both ends, we've checked to make sure neither contact is blocked (well, on this end anyway... on that end, they say they have but we're not sure if they're doing it right).
Note: I have NOT reset the Network Settings... but only because all other contacts but this one are working.
    Any ideas, guys?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks... and then for the suggestion to sign out and sign back in. I've already done that though (see #3 in my original post... that's what it meant). And I've already sent a link to the person with the other phone, suggesting she do that too. Also thanks for the point on the MacBook not being able to send SMS. Good point.
That said, yep... I'm sure I'm not trying to send an SMS. Even so, that would at least go in green... right?  But we cannot send either SMS or iMessage from this end.  When I open a new Message... and type in the contact name... it goes red. Just red. As though it's already unreachable. Even though it's the right number and the right email address. I would at least expect that it would, if she weren't registered to iMessage, be deliverable as an SMS (green)... but no.
Here's the process, if it helps:
I open a new message and type in the address -- it goes red (already a sign of trouble).
Then I try to type in a message anyway. It goes green.
Then I hit send and get back a "Not Delivered" error.
    Same on her end.
Now, here's something interesting.... I'm typing to you now on a different machine, running under a different administrator (me) and I've just tried to send a message to the same two recipients. One, my mother-in-law's, works just fine. The other, my sister-in-law's ALSO goes red on my machine.
    Hmm.
Question: You say "I would suggest you both go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, sign out and sign back in. Also make sure that the addresses that you are trying to reach each other at are listed there."
By this, I'm assuming you only mean that each person's sending and reachable addresses are listed in the settings, right?
I guess it's possible she never set that up (on the other end) but she says she can text fine with everyone except her mom.
On the other hand, why would her email address go red in my new Message window too?
