Maintaining Hierarchies in Production?

Hello,
Can someone tell me if it is possible/Okay to maintain to create a new heierarchy in production directly or is it to be transported?

Yes, thats very much possible, unless the hierarchy is being loaded.
This is pretty much like master data. As we can create master data directly in production, similar is the case with hierarchy creation.
Only change that may not be possible, if the system is locked, is in terms of hierarchy properties, such as type, intervals usage and external chars, as this would involve change to info object.

I'm currently working with a secquency for free goods with customer hierarchie ans product hierarchie, but is giving me a lot of problems of dums , I think that SAP standard doesn't allow it because the customicing is diferent than the secquence for pricing that has 2 more fields open: V_T682Z-FSTST and V_T682Z-MBWRT that could allow me to set the levels of the hierarchie. Despite it works with the same table T682Z.
Has anybody had the same problem as me? Can you help me please.

The Menu path is as under:
SPRO > Financial Accounting > General Ledger Accounting > Business Transactions > Closing > Document > Define Financial Statement Versions.

Short Dump while maintaining conditions in Product master

Hi Experts,
We are getting short dump while we want to maintain conditions in the product master.
The dump message is as follows -
CREATE DATA: The specified type "/1CN/WS_ID_300PRODUCTBBP_SKU_T" is no valid
An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.
The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_CREATE_DATA_ERROR', was not
caught in
procedure "/SAPCND/MNT_INIT_OW" "(FUNCTION)", nor was it propagated by a
RAISING clause.
Since the caller of the procedure could not have anticipated that the
exception would occur, the current program is terminated.
The reason for the exception is:
The dynamically specified type "/1CN/WS_ID_300PRODUCTBBP_SKU_T" at CREATE DATA
is no valid data type.
The type is either unknown or an object type.
I checked for OSS note but could not get success and also i could not explore in SDN. Can anybody help me in this.

Export Import to Maintain Test and Production Environments

We have developed an application using Locally built Database Providers in Oracle Portal 9.0.2.6 which is installed to 2 schemas, has 5 different providers, and over 100 Portal major components (Forms, Reports, and Calendars) and over 200 minor components (LOV's and Links). We have used export/import transport sets with some luck, but it is a struggle becuase the import procedures are not very robust. Many things (such as missing LOV's, corrupt components, preexisting versions, etc, etc.) can cause an import to fail. And the cleanup necessary to finally achieve a successful import can be very time-consuming.
Having a robust import mechanism is very important to our strategy for keeping installed (our own and clients') portal instances up-to-date with our latest release. Some of the enhancements that would make it much easier to develop and maintain Portal applications include:
Within the Portal:
1. Ability to copy an entire provider within the same portal (rather than one component at a time).
2. Ability to change the schema to which a Provider is associated.
3. When copying a component from one provider to another, the dependent items (i.e. LOVs and Links) should be copied to new second provider as well. (i.e. rather rebuilding each LOV in each provider and then editing each form to point to the new LOVs)
Transport Sets:
4. Should allow for changing provider names and provider schema, and global component name changes, and resetting unqiue id's on import (to create copy rather than overwrite).
5. Should allow the option to ignore errors and import all components which pass pre-check (rather than failing all components if all items do not pass pre-check).
How are other Portal Developers dealing with installing and then rolling out new sets of Locally built Database Providers from Development environments to Production? Are there any whitepapers on the best practices for replicating/installing a portal application to a new portal instance and then keeping it updated?
Oracle, are any of my wish-list items above on the future enhancement lists? Or have others figured out workarounds?

Restricting user to maintain entries in production through table maintenanc

Dear All,
I have created one table maintenance generator.
I am sending entries of table to quality and production server through transport request.
But user can directly maintain the entries in quality and production server also.
I want to restrict user that he will not be allowed to maintain the entries directly in quality and production server and entries always go through transport request from development to quality and production server.
Any idea how to restrict user to maintain entries in quality and production server.
Any pointers will be helpful and appreciated.

Hi tarun,
for your requirement you have to create events(create new entry) in table maintanace generator for creating new entry.
create 05 event and give suroutine name as new_entry.
form new_entry.
message 'authorizatioh restricted for creating new entry' type 'E'.
or
create authorization objects then give authorization for perticular user for maintaining data in the table
by creating authorization objects.
endform.

Maintain Partner-Dependent Product Data

Hello Experts,
I am trying to maintain the partner dependent product data through standard transaction /n/sapapo/prt_product. When I copy and paste data into the partner dependent table, it saves the partner product number but not the description. Even I tried to maintain all the field manually but still description get disappeared.
Do you know why is not shoowing description in this?

Naming conventions/hierarchies for products and software components

Hi,
Can someone please advise what they have found works well for naming products and software components and recommended hierarchies?
Following the SAP model it seems to make sense to have a custom product for each SAP product when we are developing custom interfaces for the related system, e.g. ZPRODMYCOMPDEVS_R3, ZMYCOMPDEVS_CRM etc.
Beneath this level as similar convention could be used for the software component, e.g. ZSWCMYCOMPDEVS_CRM or if it is a modular SAP system like R/3 perhaps a grouping per key application area? (e.g. HR, Finance, Logistics etc)
I know it's not compulsory to start these with 'Z' but it would help group custom developments.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

How to maintain scrap in Production Confirmation CO11

how to maintain the scrap qty in production confirmation , in CO11 there are two field namely called as yeld qty and scrap, if enter scap qty here how system will calculate scrap and what are all the setting to be done?

Hi,
In CO11 if you enter quantity in field scrap then system would scrap the quantity means no positive or negative entry of stock will be done.
In SAP scrap stock in not maintained. If you enter scrap in that field then it will exhaust from SAP. You will not get that material in any form of stock.
If you get fixed qty of scrap and you want to maintain the stock of it in different material then maintain that material with negative qty in BOM.
When ever you do confirmation you will recieve the scrap material in stock through 531 movement.

Maintain Hierarchies in MDM

Hello all,
I've found some documents about creating and enhancing Hierarchies and categories in MDM repositories, but I still haven't understood if (and how) is possible to modify a hierarchy (from an xml file coming from SRM) even if there are records in the main table assigned to that hierarchy.

You should use an Inbound port in order to put there the XML file coming from SRM. You also need to create an import map using the import manager in order to have those hierarchies or categories modified. The name of those categories which already have items from the main table assigned can be changed, but the structure itself can not unless you first unassig them and after the change you assign them again to the correspondent categories.

Product enhancements need to be set up from bottom to top (with Tx-Codes):
1. you need to define attributes (COMM_ATTRSET)
2. you need to group the attributes to set types (COMM_ATTRSET)
3. you need to create a hierarchy (COMM_HIERARCHY)
4. you need to assign your set types to the hierarchy (inheritance is happening automatically) (COMM_HIERARCHY)
5. you have to assign your product to the hierarchy -> The additional classifications become available.(COMM_PR01)
Keep in mind that all this is not customizing but maintaining master data - as such they are not automatically put into transport requests.

Maintaining Posting Periods on productive client.

Is there any way of maintaining posting periods "OB52" (IMG activity) without changing the status of productive client to modifiable. I know one way is to maintain the posting periods in dev and then transport. Is there any other way? (directly in production) and also what is the recommended method for doing this.

You can maintan OB52 in productive client by keeping the client as productive.The settings in SCC4 have to be like this :
Client Role: Production
Changes and Transport for client specific objects: Not allowed.
Client Independent object changes: No changes to Repository and cross client authorization objects allowed.
These settings will allow users to maintain OB52 in production clients but won't allow them access to maintain general customizing.
Further you would need to assign authorizations for S_TABU_DIS as mentioned by Barry.
OB52 is nothing but a view of table T001B. The authorization group for T001B table in table maintainence generator is FC31.
So whosever needs to maintain OB52 needs to have proper authorization for this table via S_TABU_DIS.
The values assigned have to be :
Activity 02,03
Authorization Group: FC31.
Also you can check whether OB52 is allowed for maintainence in production.
For this go to transaction SOBJ. Then check the check box against enter conditions and click on display. A pop up would come up. here you can give the view name V_T001B. In the resulting screen check for the check box against Current Settings. If it is checked then OB52 is open for maintainence in production client.
There is one more method:
Go to SPRO. Then to SAP Reference IMG. Go to the node for opening and closing posting periods. You can also search for this using Control+F option. Use the search string " Open and Close Posting Periods".
Once there click on it. Then in menu bar go to EDIT and then to display IMG activity. In the next screen to go tab Maint. objects under the selection block Assigned objects. Here you will find an entry for table V_T001B. Double click on it a new screen appears. Here just check if the check box against current settings is checked. If it is then OB52 can be maitained in production clients.

KEDR Not Maintainable in Production

I've come across the situation where KEDR for COPA derivation rules are now not maintainable in a production system. This is apparently as of EHP7. Has anyone else had this experience?

It is standard behaviour of current EHP 7 SAP system that derivation rule in no longer
modifiable directly in production system
It is recommended that all
customers maintain it in development system and then transport it afterwards
into the productive system.
If you decide to revert this behaviour as
previously, you may modifiy the standard coding as per note
558156.
Please be informed that this will be a modification and if you
need further assisstence with the coding, please discuss with your local
consultant.

Conceptual question on Products and Customer Hierarchies

I am wondering why it was first necessary to create Business Partner Hierarchies and Product Category Hierarchies in a different framework than Org Management.
I understand Org Management, but I donu2019t see the need to recreate, for example, your customeru2019s hierarchy in BP hierarchy builder if you can do all in Org Management.
The only current advantage I see is the fact that you can link conditions to Product Groups, and to different nodes in the BP hierarchy.
But why was this not originally done as an enhancement to Org Management?

Product Group Hierarchy in SAP BI for 0SD_MP03

Hello Guru,
I am working on BI 7.0. I have activated Sales Infocubes, DSO and Multiprovider on BI side. I am working on 0SD_MP03 multiprovider. I have a field called 0PROD_HIER which represents Product Hierarchy which we can see for any material in MM03 t-code. how ever in MM03 t-code we can go upto 3 level (Main Group, Group and Sub group) how ever on BI side we can see only 1 level.
I want to see all 3 levels when i click on 0PROD_HIER because i want to see a relation of a material and it belongs to which main group and group but i see that there is no standard content for Product Hierarchy in SAP BI or ECC . Can any body help me on how to get this hierarchy on BI side ?

I have done 2 scenarios which is mentioned below..
1, I created a hierarchy for 0MATERIAL info object with 0MATERIAL_LPRH_HIER data source. I ran infopackage and it showed a popup "DATA WAS REQUESTED" but when i went to Hierarchy symbol -> Maintain Hierarchies, i am not able to see any hierarchies there.. am i missing something ?
2. I have activated 0PROD_HIER_LPRH_HIER dat sorce ECC. replicated it on BI side and created transfer rules wit 0PROD_HIER infoobject. I created infopackage and it has shown me hierarchy in selection. I ran infopackage and it said that "DATA WAS REQUESTED" but i din't see any hierarchies in RSH1... am i missing something here as well ?
