Marketing campaigns- segmenting audience, limitations?

Is possible to segment your audience based on location, season (/time of year), search terms etc and display personalised content for different segments (types of customer)?
I like BC but not sure if it's the right solution when I'm limited to what's "in the box".
Applications like SiteFinity offer this and the feature set can be extended via their API. Need advice. Anyone any thoughts on this?
Thanks,
A

Marcus,
We are actually well aware of what you stated, and repeating standard SAP documentation does not really answer my question about how people are using that functionality in actual practice.
We don't use the standard functionality because honestly the campaign management soltuion developed by SAP does not mesh well with mobile marketing.
IMHO here are the issues with the solution:
1.  Connectivity to major SMS aggregators:  The SAP solution only supports primitive HTTP calls.  There is no support for SMPP, web service, or complex HTTP/HTTPs binary content calls without custom code
2.  The solution is only for one way broadcast and does not take into account the shortcode concept.
3.  The message editor does not have any built in checks for whether message length exceeds the maximum for SMS messages
4.  The mobile number storage does not allow for recording of carrier.  This is sometimes necessary if multiple gateways are used.
5.  The send process is way too clumsy for sending out one-time alerts and there is no mechanism without a bunch of custom coding to handle two-way interactive campaigns
6.  No strong support for opt-out mechanism or double-opt-in process for campaigns.
7.  The netweaver stack does not support the necessary protocols for SMS management (see point #1), leading to custom code for interfacing to any true aggregator.
This still leads me to believe that most people do not manage any true SMS campaigns from SAP CRM unless it is a Z-application.  I open any feedback on how these issues might be addressed in CRM 7.0 as we are on CRM 2007 and these issues are still open with the standard solution.  I would think with Amazon.com and other e-commerce vendors supporting ordering via SMS that the SAP CRM solution would have stronger true SMS support for marketing and other applications.
Take care,
Stephen

  • Interactive Reports for Marketing Campaigns using HANA

    Dear Experts,
We are Implementing Interactive Reports for Marketing Campaigns using HANA Hence, I request you all to help with the Config Steps  / any documents that help.
    Your Help is really appreciated.
    Thanks In advance

    David,
There are several drawbacks with the standard functionality that you will encounter:
    -  SAPconnect only supports HTTP url posting or RFC destination setup (which means you need a third party server program)
    -  The mail forms do not impose a limitation on the length of messages
    -  Target groups do not check if the person has a mobile number.
If you look at SMS gateway providers they normally allow use via web service or SMPP.  If you plan on doing "bulk" campaigns where you will generate multi-thousand messages a month then you need to use one of these options.  SMPP is a binary protocol that is way too complicated for a business application to implement.  So web services is your best bet.
If we used mostly standard CRM functionaliy we would do the following for SMS:
    -  Use the segment builder to handle our target groups
    -  Use the personalized mail functionality
    -  Use the open channel exits for segment execution to handle the communication to SMS gateway.
Now keep in mind that for SMS campaigns this is going to be cubersome, and not going to provide all the mobile marketing functionality you need.  It still appears that even for CRM 52/2007 that mobile marketing is not really fully addressed in the solution with several major gaps.
We ended up going down a custom route, because the segment builder was not-user friendly and unstable in CRM 40 and the mail form technology did not meet our needs for sending messages and creating template based scenarios.  We still make use of the CRM business partner master for the distribution.
If you have any further questions on doing SMS campaigns with CRM, please let me know.  This is one area where I have spent some extensive research.  If you are looking for SMS gateway providers in the US, I can also provide some names based on our previous research.
    Thank you,

  • Marketing Campaigns using SMS

  • How do I trigger an email marketing campaign each time a customer orders?

I want to trigger an email campaign to be sent X days after a customer places an order, each time he/she places an order. Specifically this would be a request for the customer to review the product(s) he/she purchased. I can't seem to find a way to trigger this based on the order date. Please help! Thanks!

    Hi Liam,
Thanks for the response. I should clarify my initial question. There are two groups of purchasers that I would like to target with different email marketing campaigns: First time purchasers and, (ii) Repeat purchasers. Ideally the system would be able to distinguish between these two groups during the checkout process so that the correct email campaign could be triggered. I thought about basing it on whether the purchaser was logged in or not (where 'logged in = repeat purchaser'), but our site asks visitors to register very early in the process, so conceivably, a logged in user may very likely be a first time purchaser.
The more I think about it, the more it looks like I will need to manual email marketing list segmentation and management.
I sincerely appreciate any ideas you might have.
    Thanks again!

  • Parallel Task Error resolution for Marketing Campaign Load

    Hi,
During a Marketing campaign load, we encountered the "Parallel Task Error".
    Description of error:
Error/Warning : Error invoking service 'Mktg Data Load Service', method 'CampaignLoad' at step 'Load Segment Tree Cells/Segments'.(SBL-BPR-00162)*
    +*
One or more of the parallel tasks may have encountered an error.  Any queued tasks that were scheduled to follow the failed task have been cancelled.(SBL-MKT-00453)*
Further investigation revealed that the unique constraint on the S_CAMP_CON table was not being met. As per a suggestion by one of the Oracle Support Web's SR, they had asked to change the value of the field 'Token Number' (in the load file format) to a randomly generated number using the formula:
    CAST((RCOUNT(1) + 001) as varchar(40)) || '001')
However, the issue arises when we assign more than one nodes of a segment tree to a campaign. Due to this, the token number would be repetitive between records of the two nodes.
Hence, to overcome this error, instead of defaulting the value of Token Number to a system generated field, or using the above function, we made it default to a unique value (for example: account id), coming from a database column. This way we made sure that the token number is unique for all the records being loaded by the campaign.
This resolved the error, however we would like to confirm if this is the right approach? Can someone let us know if there is any other solution to avoid the error?
    Thanks in advance

  • Sending E-mail in Marketing Campaign

    Hi
We have a requirement where we need to send E-mails to all 'Employee responsible' of customers in Campaigns.
However at present system is having a field called 'E-mail address' field which will get the e-mail address from SPRO
    like below..
SAP Implementation Guide > Customer Relationship Management > Marketing > Marketing Planning and Campaign Management > Personalized Mail > Maintain Sender Addresses for E-Mail
Functional consultant will maintain an E-mail address(only one) here. However now the requirment is I should write a code such way that it should neglect this E-mail id and instead of this it should send the mail to all the 'Employee responsible' of customers in that Campaign.
So could you please let me know the place (class or BADI of Function Module) in the SAP code where it stores the above said mail id so that I can modify the internal table with the required E-mail id's by replacing existing email id.(I'll try to use Enhancement spots...)
    Best Regards
    Anil

    Hi,
You can send out email for marketing campaign in many ways.
1.get the target group created using the BI infocube
2.get the target group created using infoset query
3.Import the business partner data directly from an external file (flat file).
I will suggest an easy way of doing it.
Login using Marketing professional Roles>workcenter>Marketing>Campaign>Create New campaign-->Create segment
    >create profile set>create profile-->create target group
Note : when u create a campaign there will be a place where you can give the mailform name where the already created mail form name shuld be mainteined over ther, and the sender address too.
click the target group created and click on the option import business partner.
(pre req:the target email ids should be maintained as business partners in ur system whre you can maintain BPs email-id in the BP Transaction)
get the list of business partner ids downloaded in the flat file from BP table.
Import the list>start or schedule the camapign>you can run ur campaign for all the BPs .
or manually enter the BP ids in the target group where the email address maintained for those BPs will be the target ids for your campaign.
give a try.Let me know if you have any queries.

  • Really aggressive marketing campaign for creative cloud

today my Lightroom informed me that there is an update, and asked me if I would like to download the update. I answered "yes" and was taken to the Adobe website. But, instead of being taken to the Adobe Lightroom download page as has happened with all of the previous updates, this time I was taken to a page about creative cloud. I don't want creative cloud. I only want to update my desktop version. So I tried clicking on the way for the desktop version, which is hidden away down in the bottom right corner of the screen. And that takes me to create a cloud. So I tried going to downloads for Lightroom. And I get taken to creative cloud.
I eventually had to call up Adobe on the phone in order to be able to update my desktop version of Lightroom. I let the agent I spoke with know it was very annoying to be subject to this obviously aggressive marketing campaign for creative cloud. When we were done with the call I thanked him for helping me do on the phone what I couldn't do on the website.  I also let him know that  it seems like Adobe is trying very hard to steer people to be creative cloud option and away from the desktop option.  I also let him know that if Adobe ever does away with the desktop version and the creative cloud version is the only alternative I am gone as a customer. I will use Apple photos or some other product. I will not be forced into a subscription-based service against my will.

  • Generate Sales Orders in mass based on Marketing Campaign (CRM 6.0)

    Hi Support,
I want to generate sales orders in mass through marketing campaign
I have done the following customizing :
    - create a new transaction type used for the Template : sales order template ZSOT and assign to it template type "D"
    - assign item categories to this new transaction type ZSOT
    - enter as communication medium for the channel : the sales order ZSOM that I want to be created in mass (based on the Template)
    - copy control between the 2 transactions : ZSOT and ZSOM
    - copy control between the item categories
    - Then I create in the Web Client UI, a sales order template ZSOT with material and quantity
    - Then I create a marketing campaign and choose as communication medium the sales order and assign the sales order template ZSOT previously created
    - I assign a Target Group to the Campaign
    - I release the campaign
    - I start it to execute it
=> I obtain the message : "To generate sales orders products and quantities have to be assigned."
However the Sales Order Template contains a product and a product quantity
Any idea how to solve the issue ? Is there any step missing on my customizing
    Thanks for your help !

    Dear Thomas,
I have the same problem which you have explained in your thread and i have done the same settings that are mentioned by you.
Even i have tried all the possibilities to get rid of this error but i am unable to resolve this problem.
As per your inputs i have inputted the product in a Campaign but there is no option for entering quantity.
The error i am repeatedly getting is "*To generate sales orders products and quantities have to be assigned* upon executing the campaign.
    I appreciate your earliest reply.
    Many many thanks in advance.

  • How to assign status profile to marketing campaign ?

    Dear Friends,
I am working on Marketing Campaign (SAP CRM 4.0) : I want to customize a new status profile for campaign. I create a new one and I don't know where I assign it to camapign : I searched in SDN and I found a message : "to assign status profile, you have to do when you customize campaign type : Marketing -> Marketing Planning and Campaign Management -> Basic Data -> Define Campaign Types/Objectives/Tactics : in this customizing point, when you define campaign type, here is a status profile field".
The problem is I did not find any "status profile" field in this customizing point.
Thanks in advance for your help.

    Hi,
Pls follow below said path to create User Status profile
CRM--> Marketing > Marketing Planning and Campaign Management> General Setting --> Change Status Profile for User Status
Once you create Status profile you can see the same in the profile field of Campaign. You will have to assign this profile in the campaign then you can see the statusses in Change Status field,. But these stausses can not over write the system statusses.
    Hope this will help..

  • Can you filter a custom report by postcode?  I want to send an email marketing campaign to customers

Can you filter a custom report by postcode?  I want to send an email marketing campaign to customers within a postcode range.  How do you do this? Thanks.

    Hey RP in Oz,
You can run a contacts report and select 'Default Address Type' as an 'Address Details Field' which will include the zip code a customer has inputted. You can then export the report, open it up in Excel (or similar) and filter based on the postcode. Once you have modified the list in excel, formatted it correctly and are satisfied, you can then import the report as a mailing list via E-Mail Marketing > Mailing Lists.

  • Is there a trick to publishing iWeb page html in email marketing campaigns?

I've searched around on this forum but haven't come across an answer. What I'd like to do is create a webpage in iWeb and use it with GoDaddy Express Email marketing. When I do it, it comes up all funky. I've tried it with Constant Contact, too, but no luck. Can this be done or do the iWeb html codes not jibe with other applications? I'd really love to use my own webpage design consistently through email marketing campaigns. Their templates are pretty ugly.
If someone knows any tricks, I'd love to learn them. If it's not doable, then go ahead and break the news to me.

  • Purchase orden from marketing campaign en CRM2007

    Hi all,
I'm trying to customize the direct creation of purchase order from marketing campaign in my SAPCRM2007, but I have a few problems.
I have assgined a project profile, the PEP element is correctly created in PS, and purchase orden NB (standar purchase order) is assigned in customizing to this project profile. I fill out the following values in Purchase Goods/Services assignment block:
    Good/Service ID
    Material group
    Vendor
    Quantity
    Unit
    Estimated unit price
    Currency
Then I release the marketing campaign and save it. In Messages assignment block I can see several error messages from ERP:
    Enter valuation price
    Enter Purchasing Org
Instance of object type could not be changed
Obviously the purchase order is not created in ERP, so I don`t know what configuration steps do I have to make in ERP order. Repect purchasing Org in CRM I don't know where they are, is there any mapping between Marketing Organization in campaign and Purchasing Org?
    Thanks in advance

Thank you for the answer Robin. I understand you to create an inforecord in ME61 in order to maintain a valuation price. However, I now are testing using only the following information:
    Material Group
    Estimated price
    Units, quantity and currency
I get the "Enter purchasing organization" error. My question is, I have maintained a marketing organizatio unit in my PPOMA_CRM CRM tcode. This marketing organization unit is assigned to my campaign, but, where can i made the relationship between my CRM Marketing Organization unit and a R3 Purchasing Org? I think this is my last step but I don't know where I have to do it.
    Thanks in advance

  • Tables for Marketing Campaign

    Hi experts!
    I'm using CRM 7.0.
I'm looking for the table for Marketing Campaign where I can find the assignment of Survey (name or GUID) to the Campaign (name or GUID).
It would be great to find the common table of Marketing Campaign values.

    Thanks!

    Hi Kostya,
I'm not working with CRM actually but I think you can get the campaing GUID and select the table CRMD_LINK. Did you try that? After this you can check the return of CRMD_LINK in the survey table.
    Hope this helps.

  • What are some of your best practices for using videos in your marketing campaigns?

As video becomes more and more popular, what are some best practices you have for effectively using video in your marketing campaigns? Any cool examples?

    Just saw this topic.
We use video a great deal in our campaigns.  One of our best ones though was for an offering that the written word couldn't convey as quickly, succinctly, or visually even with graphics that a short commercial could do.  We therefore created a simple video with professional VO work and blasted it out via email and social networks.  The video clearly communicated our product and it's value to our prospects.
In return we got a enormous response of form submits from individuals wanting to download the products overview documentation.  It is still one of our most watched videos.
We are now looking at adding in more value-add videos to go along with the current 'product information' stable to help generate more soft-sell opptys.
We are firm believers in using video.  You can't just put anything out there and expect just because it is a video to do well.  You must plan it carefully, think the messaging and value offered through just as much as any outbound offering.  Time is still valuable and your prospects are always asking what's in it for me.  Once they get something that they believe wastes their time, they will be more skeptical in the future regarding your videos or any messaging.
Keeping trust and relevance is essential to generating value with video.

  • Customizing for Distribution for Tab 'Costs' on Marketing Campaigns

    - Hi, Experts !
Hope you guys can support me on that:
It´s regarding the customizing for 'Distribution' so we can distribute the key figures for the marketing campaign  directly in the marketing planner, inside the Tab 'Costs' of the Campaign.
I´m not sure on how to proceed on doing this customizing; I´m on CRM 5.0 SP05 and as I open the tab 'Costs', create and transfer distribution information I´ve selected, the system was supposed to open the grid lines bellow on the screen - but it does not happen - I think it´s something missing on this customizing.
      - Could anybody send me details on how to do that ?
         Thanks in advance,

    - Hi, Amit !
Yes, I´ve maintained a Planning Profile...as I select it, it comes up the Tab 'Costs' and then I select 'Create' and enter with product and partner data and then select 'Transfer', but then nothing happens...
I think that most of the customizing is done but something inside IMG inside SEM (CRM fields / data map) is missed.
Do you have any idea of what must be done in this transactions ?
