MAX configuration disappeared

I was trying to move a number of traditional DAQ virtual channels and scales from one installation to another. The export file got deleted. I went back to my original machine and all the channels are missing from MAX. Does MAX remove the channels when you do an export. This is troubling and costly to reproduce all those channels.

Hello Brad,
To answer your question, your channels, tasks, and scales should not disappear from MAX when you perform an export. However, the export option in MAX only applies to DAQmx configurations, tasks, scales, and global channels. To save your Traditional NI-DAQ configurations, navigate to Tools >> Traditional NI-DAQ Configuration.
As far as the missing channels are concerned, perhaps someone imported a blank configuration file. Regardless, the channels should not have disappeared from performing an export.
I hope this helps!

  • Finding the setup files for the help utility favorites menu and MAX configuration

I have LabVIEW 2011 installed on my laptop, or it might be more accurate to say that I did have it installed until my computer crashed a few days ago and I am now trying to restore my information back into a new computer with a complete new install!  So, one of the things that I would like to do is to find the file that contains the "favorites" information in the help menu so that I can copy the file into the correct place so that the newly installed LabVIEW will populate the help file utility with the previous listing of the favorites in the help utility. Does anyone know where this file is installed and what it's name is? Also, it would seem that there is another file which I would sure know about for the configuration af the devices and tasks that were setup in MAX. So, does anyone know where this file is located so that I can have MAX configured the same as I originally had configured before my computer crashed?

    Hi Cuthbert,
To be able to recover your MAX configuration you should try to follow the process of removing MAX Database Corruption.
You can look for the path where the folders are in the computer that crashed and then copy those to the new computer.

Where will you vi be running - on a Windows computer Or a NI Real Time  controller? Could you also describe your application further. Have a great day!

  • How do MAX configurations get saved on cFP?

I need to find out how the MAX configuration gets saved on a cFP-2200 module so I can read from it dynamically. I need to do this in order to make installations of my software more generic, allowing dynamic reading of input channels without having to know things like the DNS name ahead of time. I already understand how to create dynamic paths with LabVIEW but it seems that changing the DNS name to something other than what the original install was under makes any paths using the new name useless. I am using RT "Get target info" to dynamically see the target's name. Working this name into the path for looking up input on the cFP-AI-102 channels only seems to work if the name stays the same as it was originally.

I am connected to the cFP-2200 over a LAN. I can have several of these at a given site which is why the name needs to be flexible. I also use the name in some VIs for various purposes, such as configuring dynamic TCP listeners on a server application.
When I say "DNS name," I'm referring to the "RT Get Target Information.VI" under the RT toolkit's output cluster and specifically, the element "IP Settings.DNS Name." This is also the name I would set for the target in max and when I do this, the output of "IP Settings.DNS Name" changes with it. Also, when I click "find devices" on the cFP in max, the default comm resource name for the device in the iak file is whatever I had set for the "name" at the time.
The "FP Create Tag.VI" which I am using to create paths to the inputs of the target has an input called "comm resource name." Since this was set to the same thing as the "name" in max, my expectation was that changing the name for a device in max would also change its comm resource name. However, my example above shows my expectation does not match what is actually happening. While the DNS Name is tied to the name set in max, the "comm resource name" is not even though during the initial creation of the iak file in MAX, they are the same.
To make a long story short, I am able to get my software to work by making sure that the comm_resource_name is hard coded to the value originally set in the project which created the build. This solution is adaquate but not optimal because I would rather be looking this up dynamically for the sake of maintainability. If the comm_resource name and DNS Name are separate entities, that is fine. There just needs to be a way to look both up dynamically if they are separate.
I guess this has become more of a suggestion than a problem I'm reporting... unless of course the behavior I'm describing is not what NI intended, in which case it's a bug.

  • Measurement and Automation Explorer (MAX) configuration export and import fails, files missing

    <I don't see a board for MAX so I posted it here.  I hope you don't mind.>
I am trying to migrate to a new computer and have successfully moved the LV code but it relies on the configuration setup in MAX to operate.  There are many configuration items includes hardware configurations, scales, etc. I have LV 6.1 on Windows XP and MAX v 3.1.1 on both machines.  When I export all data from computer 1, I end up with an NCE file.  This file is binary.  I've tried exporting to text format but have not succeeded.
When I try to import on computer 2, first MAX reports "Can not find RTE directory: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cvirte".  This seems weird since I didn't install LW/CVI when I installed LV.  I click OK.  I then get "Unable to open c:\program files\national instruments\max\bin\cvirte.rsc".  I click OK.  I then attempt to import the data from the NCE file but get "This wizard does not recognize the specified configuration file."
I tried installing NI System Configurator v5.5.1f0 but get the same results.
How can I safely migrate the MAX configuration data?

Yes, MAX is also installed with the motion controller driver.
NI-DAQ 6.9.2 is over 10 years old. I simply don't remember what issues it had, sorry. Version 7.4.4 was the latest for XP. Perhaps that works better.
And the cvirte was required for some of the MAX features. It should have been installed automatically.

  • Error 40000015. Can't Import Max Configuration File

I'm installing a build of L.V. s/w that includes max and requires the import of a Max configuration file into max. It's been done on 3 machines fine. When doing it on a machine in a room with heightened security, I get the "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library" error. The NI MAX error report gives the following ....
    Error Signatur:

    Flags: 0x0000.....
    Record: 0x000.....

Any ideas what might be sparking the crash? I can import and export configuration files all day in that room with a system that has LabVIEW installed in it.

  • Pppd disregards 'noipv6' and 'ipv6cp-max-configure' options

[Note - this post is a duplicate of http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2376412&tstart=0 - which seems to be in the wrong category]
    Hi,
I am attempting to use a Sony Ericsson phone to connect my Macbook to the internet using bluetooth.
I have configured the phone, but it fails to connect. Accordingly, I have enabled verbose logging so that I can see what's going wrong with the connection.
I watch the PPP negotiation, and my end successfully completes the LCP phase including PAP.
However, my end then sends an IPV6CP request, which confuses my provider's PPP implementation - it sends back an LCP reject message, and the whole thing just dies.
I have created the file /etc/ppp/options and placed in it "noipv6" and "ipv6cp-max-configure 0" directives. I can see that the /etc/ppp/options file is being read, but pppd nonetheless sends an IPV6CP message.
Is there a known issue with pppd (Apple version 412) not accepting options listed in /etc/ppp/options? Is there some other location that (as a user) I can place options to pppd (other than the configuration tabs in Networking)?
    Thanks in advance!

I disabled ipv6 and am checking my (verbose) ppp logs and its gone, but still I have the 30 second delay...  QUITE frustrating..  I detailed my whole problem in another thread...  Not sure what is causing it.
But I have to say Mavericks and Yosemite have opened up a huge can of enterprise IT worms.  Finder can barely parse directory listings using SMB, had to switch entire office over to AFP, 30 second delay with obtaining IP when connecting to Sonicwall using L2TP, Folders have different names depending upon how I connect to server (AFP vs. SMB).  Total hassle.

    Vijay,
Do the controller configuration in both WLCs are equals about parameters like WLAN id, ap groups and etc?
Because if the WLAN id are different you can lose the VLAN mapping when the AP migrate from one WLC to another.
About FlexConnect Group, it helps so much when you need to apply vlan mapping in the WLAN in FlexConnect APs, because FlexConnect group configuration you can maps the WLAN id in some VLAN and all APs that you add in this flexconnect group will get this configuration without the necessity to access each AP and map VLANs individually, because all APs inside this flexconnect group will get the VLAN information in that WLAN id.
But when you create the FlexConnectGroup is important to add the same group in both wlcs and add the APs mac address in both WLCs FlexConnect Group, because when one access point associates to WLC01 it receives a FlexConnectGroup configuration and when go to the WLC02 it needs to receive the same configuration.

    I hope it helps.

  • NI-DAQmx Devices disappeared in MAX Configuration

From time to time, our application will hang (black screen), the reason of this black screen is the NI-DAQmx Devices disappeared under Devices and Interfaces.

    - My System
         Data Neighborhood
         Devices and Interfaces
         Scales
         Software
         VI Logger Tasks

I have done that already, it will work for awhile, but then the problem will come back later after several On and OFF on the machine.
I get this error message under System Event Viewer.
The NI Configuration Manager service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).

The nidevldu service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 1 time(s).

I cannot duplicate the problem if I disconnect the computer from the machine "without" the NI cable connected. It seems this problem can happen when I have the computer connected to the machine.

    Hello.
I experienced initial version of WSRM but as I know.....
Basically FSCM data is based on PI and WSRM is just kind of cover using web service.
So you can see sync, async messages in tcode SXI_MONITOR even if WSRM configured.
As you see when set up in SOAMANAGER, WSRM just cover web service on existing PI interface and it's transfered through bgRFC, scheduler, ICM etc... but PI interface architecture is still used and only PI server is not used.
    Hope it helps.

  • Import MAX configuration without device or simulated device

I'm hoping there's a way to do this.
In previous versions of MAX, it was possible to import Channel and Task  information without having to import the Device.  This was handy if you didn't have the DAQ boards installed on that PC, but you needed to check Task and Channel information.
I'm currently trying to import an .nce file from a project where I'd used a USB6008 as the DAQ device.  I don't have access to one of those at the moment and it's one of the devices that cannot be simulated.
I have tried simulating a similar device with hopes of somehow "tricking" it to import.  So far, no luck.
Does anyone know of a way I can have a look at the Channel and Task information in that .nce file or possibly fanagle it into importing without or with another simulated device?
    Patrick Allen

    Hi pallen,
I actually don’t know of a way to change the configuration in the .nce file. It's a binary file which main use is to import and export complete configurations when you do not need to edit that configuration outside of MAX. The .ini and .txt are intended for editing outside of MAX. However you can always import the .nce in MAX, make the changes needed and export a .ini to your final destination. Sorry that this is not too helpful on your current situation.

  • How to delete a resource that didn't show up in MAX configuration tree?

I want to delete the TCPIP0 resource. The help says to right-click it in the configuration tree and to select DELETE. The problem is the TCPIP0 resource doesn't show up in the configuration tree. Is there another way to delete it from MAX database?
Note that it also doesn't show up in VISA interactive controls.
    Thanks,
    Ben

If you want to delete resource names individually, delete their aliases from visaconf.ini (the file that stores the aliases), and then refresh Measurement & Automation Explorer (MAX) to view the changes.

  • Missing Items in MAX Configuration Tree

I'm trying to get some strin gage readings using the LabVIEW software. When I try to add the DAQ devie through the Measurement and Automation Explorer, the configuration tree to the left is missing a lot of items. Specifically, I cannot manage my devices and instruments because that item is not there.
    Please help.

OK, let's start with the stupid questions...
    1) Did you install the board in the PC?
    2) Did it catch on fire when you did?
    3) Did the magic smoke escape from the chips on the card?
Now for the slightly more intelligent questions...
    1) Are there any other devices connected to your PC?
    2) Do they show up?
Just trying to get the obvious stuff out of the way first.
    Now for the semi-intelligent questions:
    1) What board are you trying to install?
    2) What version of MAX and DAQmx do you have installed?
    3) Do you have Traditional DAQ installed?

  • SCOM dashboard data and configuration disappears

    Hi All,
Whenever I configure a dashboard in SCOM 2012 R2 , it is there for 2 to 3 days and then the data disappears and does not come back. The dashboard becomes blank.I tried creating the dashboard for 2 to three times now and it will only display information till
2 to 3 days and then later the information disappears.
Can someone advise and help me with a work around?
Note: There were dashboards created before the R2 upgrade from SCOM 2012 Sp1, which still work fine.

    Hi,
I would like to suggest you check event view for operations manager event logs for more information to help analysis this issue.
Whether the issue occurs to every dashboard, or just some specific dashboard?
Did you open the dashboard on operations manager console or others, such as sharepoint web site?
