Missing fonts - present in font Book, missing in iWork!

I'm baffled by this. I just tried to use some Zapf Dingbats characters in Numbers (iWork 09 running in OS X 10.8.2) and the letters just come out as a standard looking Sans Serif font. So I opened font Book expecting Zapf to be absent. But no, it's in there and it verifies fine. So I opened Pages and get the same result - font appears in the font menu, but produces standard letter instead of Zapf symbols.
Any ideas anyone?

I have the exact same problem! Won't render in Keynote, either. I'm using Lion (10.7.5).

In Pages 5.2, some fonts "not available", yet present in Font Book and working in other apps

Using Pages 5.2, I open a document created in a previous version, and I get error messages about certain fonts within a font family being "not available" in OS X. However, these supposedly unavailable fonts are present in Font Book and work just fine in all other apps running on OS X. In fact, I still have the older version of Pages on my system, and it still finds the fonts without issue. The specific fonts troubling me at the moment are Myriad Pro Semibold It and Myriad Pro Cond. Pages 5.2 replaces them with Helvetica. I have wasted hours of time trying to resolve this problem, and I am at a total loss. What can I do?

Like so many other thing is is probably gone. Why not use Pages 09 that has about 100 features more than Pages 5. If you haven't deleted it it should still be in Applications/iWork 09 folder.

"AdobeFnt13.lst" file missing in the document fonts folder

I have a bug with Indesign CS5, the "AdobeFnt13.lst" file is now missing in my document fonts folders, even after reinstall of ID.
I deleted the Preferences folder, font cache etc. nothing works so far.
An idea someone ?

It's solved now.
In fact I had a bug with the colour panel a week before this problem and I reinstalled ID a first time (back to the 7.0 version).
I didn't know about this patch.

How to apply a new font for missing glyphs in another font?

The situation:
For an article, I want to use Font1, but some of the glyphs are missing in it, and are highlighted with pink boxes. Font2 have much more glyphs than Font1. I can apply Font2 manually for each of the missing glyphs, but it is tedious.
Question:
Is there a way for InDesign to do such substitution automatically? I.e., apply a default font, which can be specified by user, for all the missing glyphs.
If not, how to search/find those missing glyphs with GREP or script? Since InDesign can identify the missing glyphs and marked them with pink boxes, it seems easily (not to identify the unicode ranges which seems not very easy) to find them using GREP, but I failed to find it.
Any one know how to do this? Thanks.

No. Alas, I might add. There is some sort of auto-catch, specific for Symbol symbols, but no-one knows how it works and you cannot manipulate it yourself.

Not specifically, i.e., you cannot search for "any missing glyph". Add a GREP style which changes just the font (make sure it doesn't set the font style as well, or else your Bolds or Italics might disappear). Create a new Preflight profile that checks just for missing glyphs, so you won't miss any.
None of this can be automated though.
.. it seems easily (not to identify the unicode ranges which seems not very easy) to find them using GREP, but I failed to find it.
InDesign's GREP flavor doesn't allow named Unicode blocks (http://www.regular-expressions.info/unicode.html), but I have successfully used character ranges to automatically set the font for Chinese, for example.

Missing Fonts and Embedding Fonts

I've run into some strange behavior using Flash Catalyst, and I can't seem to find a solution.
I've created a project that uses a custom font. The font displays just fine in the design window, however whenever I open the project it says the font is "missing". Yet the font still shows up in the font list and is properly installed in my font directory on OSX.
Additionally, when I deploy the project to the web I select "embed fonts". When I load up the website, the font initially appears correctly, however hovering over or clicking on the text buttons changes the font to a default font in a very strange and unpredictable way. I believe this is related to FC being unable to find the font file, however I'm not sure how to tell it where the file is located.
Any suggestions?

To use preflight tool, you might need to go to Tools > Print Production > Preflight > PDF fixups > Embed fonts >Edit
Then, Edit Profile window will appear. In this, select Fonts under Embed fonts category and click 'unlock' from the right hand side.
You can now click on 'Add' button to add the desired fonts.

Photoshop is not affected by installation or activation/deactivation of fonts. What am I missing?

I want to use HelveticaNeue Light in a psd file. I have tried activating it in Suitcase Fusion 4 and installing it under Windows (Windows 7 Ultimate). I have restarted Photoshop several times and I deleted C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Adobe\TypeSupport as a possible solution. I have no idea what the problem could be.
I even tried searching for fonts that are appearing in the list to see what's the difference compared to other fonts, but I didn't get smarter. I also deleted the preferences.
It just won't appear in the list. I am sure it is a working font because I am using it daily in InDesign.
I know of only 2 ways how Photoshop should be able to see fonts: Installing into the Windows fonts folder or Fonts management software. As far as I know it doesn't have a Fonts folder, like let's say Indesign. But still when deactivating all fonts in Suitcase and checking the Windows fonts folder, I saw that there are fonts in the Photoshop fonts list that are not in the systems folder nor activated in Suitcase. So I guess I am missing something here.
I would appreciate any input.

Fonts deactivated now listed as missing

This has bothered me for quite a while now and so I am finally going to post to see if I'm the only one with this problem (or annoyance).
I will activate a font. Work on a file. Close the file. Deactivate the font. Open a new file and that same font will be listed as missing in Illustrator. Why does this happen? I don't recall this happening with CS1 but I do know if happened with CS2 and is still happening with CS3.
Thoughts? Ideas?

Missing font in all font menus?

I've only recently updated to OSX and Freehand MX (I've been
using Freehand 8 and 9). Everything works okay, but one of my
company's key fonts does not appear in the menu. ITC Franklin
Gothic Book is simply gone, although it shows up in Photoshop and
Word and every other program I've checked.
And this isn't a problem with fonts alphabetized strangely. I
know where the font should appear (under F) and it's not there. Is
there some sort of bug with Freeand and font management programs?
Also, does anyone know of a good utility that does what Adobe Type
Reunion did under OS9?

FHMX will refuse to show fonts in the font menu if it finds
any corruption
in the font. This is to prevent crashes when font outlines
are accessed.
I suggest you delete your current copy of the font and
reinstall it from
your archived, original source. It will probably fix the
problem.

Firefox missing fixedsys and terminal fonts?

I know I have the fixedsys and terminal font installed in the windows font folder, however, they don't show up when selecting for a font in the Tools>Options>Content>fonts & colors. The drop down list of fonts don't show it at all.
I have chrome and they show in there.
Apparently firefox doesn't seem to see that the fonts exist at all, since attempting to display a webpage with these fonts makes it default to times new roman.
I want these fonts back, how do I get them?

There should be plenty of monospace fonts available that you can use instead of bitmap fonts.
Bitmap font can't be enlarged like vector font and will show blocky.

1.5.1 or MacPro changes font in all my books

I have just upgraded to a new MacPro and also Aperture to 1.5.1, after this I have noticed that all the fonts in my books are different. They were all the standard book design fonts with no changes from me, but now they are all different (Lucida Grand I think) and look ugly.
I cannot be sure if this happened after the Aperture 1.5.1 upgrade (in which case it's an Aperture bug) or the transfer to my MacPro (in which case the font could be missing).
Can anyone tell me what the original font was for the book designs so that I can manually fix this problem? The Themes are Stock Book Large Hard Cover.

I understand that there's something wrong with the TOC file (.ncx), but I have tried everything and nothing seems to work. Every section of the TOC is labeled, so not sure why the navLabel issue is happenening.

Similar issues looks like. Are you using a template other than those in iBooks Author? That's what I did, and that was definitely part of the issue.
After digging through .ibooks code for hours and still not seeing the problem, I decided to reach out to one of the Apple epub conversion affiliates in iTunes Connect. They said they could repair the file without a problem, started working on it, only to come back a week later and say they couldn't work on .ibooks or .iba files yet.
So, in complete frustration, I decided to transfer my content page by page from the blank template I downloaded from a vendor online to one of the "textbook" templates in IBA. This was a long process as I had to unlock and clear out the formatting of the template. But, once that was done and content was transferred over, all was good. I submitted/delivered the same content and preview book within the new template and it went right through the first time (all metadata was exactly the same as well).
Now, the iBookstore approval waiting process begins!

I had saved one copy as an .asp but then resaved it to .xhtml
I'm assuming this is a static web site. Rename (F2) all your pages with .html or .htm extension.
.xhtml is not a valid extension.

Can no longer edit/adjust presenter note font sizes etc

In a large presentation (meaning I don't wish to start over) I can now no longer edit the presenter fonts, in terms of size or other font related changes - either via the format bar, font window or toolbar icons...
All options appear grayed out or unselectable...
The reason I wished to alter font sizes is something occurred which in fact changed all the default sizes (from 22 down to an unreadable 12) in my presenter notes.
Adding new slides retains the editable presenter notes...but quickly these seem to end up ultimately changing to the smaller uneditable font scenario.
Help!

I was just searching for this problem myself... here is my experience:
In order to change presenter note fonts I need to open the font box (format/font/show fonts)... the problem is that things go screwy when I change presenter notes size... the cpu starts maxing out, keynote snails along.. I have to quit/restart. Bug city.?
There is definitely some disconnect between these notes fonts and the rest of the keynote program!
The ability to easily change these notes size is important for me but I'm hesitant to keep trying...
ps: choosing font/format/show fonts is the same as using the toolbar A icon - the format bar fonts don't work for presenter notes.

Changing Font Size in Address Book 6.1

This seems like such a basic question to ask but I can't figure it out: How can I change the font size in Addres Book 6.1? There no longer seems to be a way to do this in Address Book Preferences.

Address Book offers three choices: small, medium and large!
Address Book Preferences/General/Font Size.
