Model Furnace Capacity in APO PPDS

Hi Experts,
I am doing an implementation for an enginering Industry and i have to model furnace capapcity in APO PPDS, below is my requirement.
As an example RR have a furnace that processes parts in batches of 500 units and they want to sequence the orders so that the delay is determined until 500 units have been accumulated, as per the example below:
Order 1 op 10 - 50 pieces u2013 10 hrs u2013 date 17.09.11
Order 2 op 20 u2013 50 pieces u2013 31.25 hrs u2013 date 20.09.11
Order 3 op 50 u2013 100 pieces u2013 62.5 hrs u2013 date 25.09.11
Order 4 op 80 u2013 300 pieces u2013 125 hrs u2013 date 25.09.11
Therefore orders 1, 2 and 3 need to be grouped and scheduled to start on the 25.09.11 in parallel (i.e the start date and time for all the orders mentioned above should be the same).. Is there a standard way to process this type of thing or is it necessary to write some bespoke code in the heuristic/optimiser.
Any guidance or thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Hi Rajan,
Now I got your requirement .
You need to model your resource as a Multi Mixed resource.
Multi Mixed resource can have another capacity dimension such as volume or number of units  apart from Time dimension.
In the resource  in the time cont capacity tab you need to set synchronizatn start to use synchornizatn. What it will do is while planning if requirement date lies between start and end date of already scheduled planned order it will match start date with scheduled planned order. you need to use set up group to identify product to be grouped together.
Also you have some options while doing detail scheduling.

  • How to "roll back" SAP APO PPDS planning batch run from infeasible batch mid-point to before start of planning batch run?

    Hi Experts,
We are investigating if any SAP customer that implemented SAP APO PPDS has ever attempted to establish a "roll back" of the SAP APO PPDS created supply plan to a defined point before the start of the SAP APO PPDS planning batch run?
We have a situation where - in the middle of the planning batch run - randomly or intermittent the batch run hangs or runs a step for multiple hours that normally, at most days, takes only a few minutes to run.  In a situation like this, the supply plan is not in a state where customer sales orders can be promised  (using GATP CTP) or planned orders can be converted to production orders and published to SAP ECC, etc since the plan may be capacity infeasible or simply partial or incomplete.   To not hold the business operations hostage to wait resuming operations (promise customer sales orders, convert and release and execute orders to transfer, deliver, produce, or purchase) for hours or days, we need to find a way back to the original plan right before the nightly PPDS batch planning job started.
We already close all the queues from ECC to APO, thus, no CIF traffic from ECC to APO.  We also shut down the customer sales order feed into ECC as normal process for duration of the APO PPDS batch planning run.  Thus, functionally,  we are theoretically in a situation to simply go back to a PPDS and active planning version save prior to the run.  Yet, many more technical and BASIS-related questions remain on how to roll back to a state where the plan was not compromised.
This inquiry is to learn if any other SAP customer has ever established a process to roll back SAP APO PPDS to a previous point in time supply plan to resume operations?  Whatever the reasons are, be it after a failed  batch run, or any time during the normal interactive plan day.
Additional information about our design and plan:
    1.  We have a two year horizon supply plan in PPDS
    2.  We only publish to ECC 14 days worth of planned orders, stock transfer requirements, and purchase requirements
    3.  We convert planned orders to production orders and release production orders in ECC 2 days before first operation starts
    4.  We convert PR's to PO's and STR's to STO's in ECC  2 days before execution (ship or submit to vendor)
Any indication where a SAP customer has developed and uses a process to roll back an SAP APO PPDS- planned supply plan to an earlier point in time or version would be helpful to know.

    Hi  Manimaran,
Saving in Simulation means in DS board when you click on save it provides you option to save sim version or adopt to active version. If you copy to inactive version you cannot copy back  trasaction data specially PPDs orders back to active version again while if you save in simulation you can adope it to active version at any point of time. YOu can adopt simulation version changes to active version using T-code /SAPAPO/CDPSS0
Copying to active version means you copy data from version 000 to some other active version while here results are kept simulation,

  • Integration Model - Resource Transfer to APO

    Hi,
When i transfer a resource from R/3 to APO the data is transferred to APO but not to the active version.
Instead it sits in APO as model independent version i.e without a version number.
Please let me know how this happens and how to overcome this ? I want the data to be available in version 000
    BVN**

    Hi Valavan,
I assume your issue is related to only the changes made to R/3 Resources and not for new Resources.
There is a customizing setting in R/3 to control this. Use trns. CFC9 and set the value 'N' for the 'Change Transf. Mode’ field. This will ensure any changes to Resource in R/3 will also be released to 000 version in APO. If the value is 'X' the changes are released only to model independent version.

  • Available capacity in APO

    Hi,
I have a resource for which the PLANNED DOWNTIME has been maintained as 12 hrs a day for next few months
On top of it, the FACTORY  SHUT DOWN (this has been picked from the fact cal) has been maintained in the CAPACITY PROFILE in APO
Logically speaking I should now see AVILABLE CAPACITY as 12 hrs  in the capacity profile in the Resource
But I see sometimes as 12 hrs and some times as 3 hrs in the capacity profile in the Resource
and in the planning book I am seing the available capacity as '0'
Kindly share your interpratation , how do I look into this issue to fix
    Thanks,
    SS
Edited by: SAPSriman on Dec 7, 2010 8:40 AM

    Hi,
First check if the same resource in APO is maintained as external capacity or not.If the same is activated then check the resource capacity in ECC.Check the intervals and shifts.
If the same is not true then check the capacity profiles and the avalable capacity versions maintained in resource master in APO.
Since from factory calender resource blocking is only possible for at least a day so any availble hours is basically for resource blocking.
Check the shift sequence. If your shift sequence is cross period the 3 hours can be coming from previous period.
Hope the points can help you.

  • Purchase Requisition converted to Purchase Order in ECC from APO - PPDS

    Hi All:
When I check the conversion indicator of a PR in APO and save, it initiates the trigger to convert the PR to PO and everything works fine.  When I check the invoice tab of the PO in ECC, the tax code is blank.  But when I try to convert another PR to PO in ECC using ME21N or ME21, the tax code entry becomes mandatory.  Question is,  where in APO do you set to trigger the transaction and the ID?  Pl. help?
    Thanks
    Narayanan

    Hi Narayanan,
I think when you convert Preqs to POs thru RRP7, POs are created in ECC thru default transaction ME21 or ME21N. Since you are able to create Purchase Orders, nothing is required on APO side. The necessary information passed from APO to ECC thru IM of purchase orders is start and end date, material, supplying and destination plant. All other information is selected from ECC customizations (SPRO) and material master in ECC.
Please check SPRO in ECC and material master (tax, Accounting tabs) with MM / accounts consultant or user. Alternatively, you can update POs using z code.

  • SNP Planning book capacity view -APO Product is blank in drill down

    Hi Experts,
I am getting product blank when I am doing Header on/off drill down setting. Even when I am choosing Products from Display dependent objects, It drill down the second grid (Quantity View) and product is blank.
Please let me know if anybody faced the same issue before. We are using version SCM 5.1
    Thanks & regards,
    Hitesh

    Hi,
In the standard SNP planning area 9ASNP02, the relevant KF in Capacity view is  9ACASUP .
There may be a conflict identified between selection and key figures to be read.
You can choose a different selection condition or change to a different data view, and check if ti comes out correctly.

  • Prigramming Logic details for SAP APO Planning Models

    Hi All,
I need to learn more about different model available in SAP APO - DP, SNP and their behaviour.
Request to please share any link or document associated with programming logic in different planning models available in APO.
    Thanks in Advance.

    Hi Senthil,
    Thanks dear for your response.
What I am looking in programming details of exisiting DP forecasting models like Trend Analysis, Linear Regression.
What I know about MLR is that system uses below equation
    Yi = bo + b1X1 + b2X2... + bn Xn
    where Yi = Sales History
    bo = Mean
    b2 = co-efficients
    x2 = causal factor etc.
Do you have document which details out how the figures are computed using these planning models?
Once again thanks for your quick reply brother.

  • Line Resource Error when transfering IPPE Model to APO

    Hi experts,
I'm using the CIF to transfer my IPPE model from ECC to APO.
Almost everything passes without a problem, but I get this message when it tries to create the Line Resource in APO.
Error when creating a line resource (proxy object)
    Message no. PPEFLO123
As anyone ever encounter this problem ... I can't seem to find anything on the web, in OSS or in here.
    Thanks.

    Hi Senthil,
The first one gives me a short dump :
    Short text of error message:
Transaction PPECIF01 is no longer valid
The second one says a bunch of items are only in the source system, but that's normal since the CIF dumps.
Edit : Well, the weird thing is the report seems to think nothing is created in APO, but I have almost everything created except lines and their relations.

    Dear ,
To answer the question for Capacity requirement planning on sales order I would say that MRP does  only materials planning based on demand and reciept  but never does Capacity Requirement Plannig .MRP generates Planned Order  and susequently , production order can be genreted and farther you can carry out capacity requirement planning based on the work cente available capacity , requirement and load for those MTO orders .
But there are SAP business suit like APO-SNP APO PPDS which carriy our details scheduleing and caapcity check based on the demand situation : Sales Order ,Independent Order  and does capcaity vaialbality chek for those demands while planning .
Now , here is the answer of your question :
    1) Can Capacities are Scheduled as per priority given in SO automatically. : Not possible  through  SAP MRP but in APO-PPDS, APO-SNP-CTM , Herustic model .
    2) Can revised availability dates will be reflected in SO. : It can be reflected as per the ATP chekc , Replishmenet Lead  Time and re-scheduling horizon maintained in OPPQ-Carry all overall plant parametres.
    3) Which reports will be useful for understanding consolidated availability date of material for given sales order/s. : You can check through MD04/MD05 or in sales order -Availaibility check -Schedule Line -Availaibility date .
Hope your are clear about the requirememt .

  • Capacity Planning for all Sales Order Items

    Sir,
A Sales Order have 4 different line items & need to produce on single work center.
In schedule line of sales order requirement dates are given priority wise.

  • Resource Capacity Utilization Question

Hi, Please let me know if the following scenario is a possibility.
We currently maintain our capacity utilization at 90% for any resource and the same number is carried over to APO with CIF. The requrement we have is to set this utilization to 100% for the rolling current date+3 months and 90% outside the 3 month horizon. I know that the dates can be specified explicity but I don't know if the rolling 3 month is possible. Please let me know if this can be achieved via config.
    Thanks in advance.

    Dear ,
I would request you to post the thead in  SDN APO forum  .
I do not think so  there is a scope of this requirement  in SAP R/3 but APO PPDS  can give you a solution for the same .

  • Scheduling in Apo

    Hello,
Normally scheduling and capacity is based on r/3 scheduling time elements i.e setup,m/c and teardown time in R/3.
What is the parameter for scheduling in Apo and which parameter it will consider while schdeuling and capacity requirement planning?

The setup, produce and teardown times in R/3 on a operation will transfer to APO as activities in an operation in PDS (PRoduction Data Structure) or PPM (Production Process Model) master data.
APO Master Data = PDS or PPM which is equivalent to BOM + Routing in R/3
Hence scheduling and capacity consumption of orders in APO will be based on the PDS or PPM activities.
    Hope this helps.

  • PPDS - Product hurestic giving planned  orders six month later

    Dear All
I m facing a prooblem while executing the product heurisitc in APO-PPDS. Problem is that planned orders are scheduled six month later even though the requirments are in early period. I hv checked the resource capacity and time profile. In addition I hv also run the report /SAPAPO/CRES_CAPACITY_LENGTHEN. Still the orders are postponed.
Please suggest what can be the possible causes for this error.
