Moving a project from Premiere Elements

I have just created -- successfully, for the most part -- a nice video in
Premiere Elements, commemorating my daughter's bat mitzvah, with two camera
angles, creative integration of many still images, and multiple audio
tracks. I was pleased with how smoothly it went...until it came time to burn
the DVD.
At that point, I found a disappointingly small number of layout choices and
virtually no ability to customize the ones that were there. I don't need a
template; I just want to be able to choose a background image and round up
the DVD markers that I carefully inserted. That modest desire appears
outside of the range of the program's templates.
Turning my attention to Encore, it appears as if this is the app that I
should have turned to for DVD creation in the first place. Before I traverse
this program's learning curve, I need to know if it will be able to start
with my PREL file, including the DVD markers that I created.
Thanks...

You won't be able to import the Premiere Elements file.
What you will need to do is export the video file as you have edited it f5rom Premiere as either a movie file, or (if Premiere Elements has the option) an MPEG-2 file where the sequence markers you have created will turn into chapter markers.
However, I would personally recommend using the export as an AVCI type movie even if Prem El does support direct to MPEG-2.
This is for a couple of pretty good reasons:
1 - when you import an AVI file into Encore, you get precise control over exactly where the chapter points go. With MPEG-2 files, you do not have as much control.
2 - And this is the most important reason - it saves you having to do a "bit budget" & work out just how much bitrate you need to assign to the video so that it fits onto the DVD.
Encore will take care of this automatically, and it does a pretty good job of it.

It has been the case that you cannot open a Premiere Elements project file (.prel) created in a later version in an earlier version.
And, you cannot open a Premiere Elements Windows project file in Premiere Elements Mac and vice versa.

  • Moving menu template from premiere elements 4 to premiere elements 9

Last year I upgraded from premiere elements 4 to 9.  I could not find a generic menu template in premiere elements 9 so I moved one from the program files of premiere elements 4 to the program files of premiere elements 9.  This seemed to work okay except that the background art that I used for the main menu does not show up on the burned DVD even though it is there when viewing the project.  I'm using a PC with Windows 7.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Several of the menu templates for PRE9 had problems, such as custom backgrounds ignored. A. T. Romano did a lot of work on investigating these issues.
    For example:
Premiere Elements 9 Disc Menu (main/scene)
    PE9 Menu background
It seems likely that whatever caused the faults in PRE9 is also tripping up with your PRE4 template. Others have reported that the problems were fixed in PRE10.

  • How can I export a completed project from Premiere Elements?

There are a number of formats you can export from Premiere Elements. All are available under the Share tab and the major output formats are available under the Personal Computer option.
To export your completed video for use in another project, use the DV-AVI output option.
To export your video for display on the internet, use the WMV or MOV output options.

I experienced the same problem as mreingrover. The Share features of iMovie appear to be completely unimplemented.
I had had MacKeeper installed for a short while on my previous Mac; never on my new MacBook Pro. I could not find any trace of it in Application Support, Launch Daemons, or LaunchAgents, in either my user Library or the root Library. But I figured maybe there was some trace somewhere that had been copied over from the old system, so I deleted iMovie and went to reinstall it from the App Store.
Now the App Store wants $14.95 for an app that has never worked right, and which is (I think) supposed to be free with my new MacBook Pro Retina.

  • Import projects from Premiere Elements 2.0

I am using Adobe Premiere Elements 2.0 and I have a saved project that I want to open in a more recent version. My friend has vista and if I download a more recent version on his computer, will I be able to open and view my saved project from 2.0? And if so, which versions will allow me to do this?
P.S. Unfortunately, it messes up everytime I try to export as quicktime/windows media/or as a movie, so instead I just want open it and watch it in the editing window. But since 2.0 is not supported on vista ( I use xp), I need to download a different version to view it on his computer.

Well, often Projects from older versions will Open in later versions, though sometimes not with everything intact. Each version adds certain features, and sometimes, features, like Transitions, are eliminated. You success will be based on a great big "it depends."
As for which versions will be better at opening a PrE 2.0 Project, one will likely be limited. PrE 8 is the current version. There might be a trial for PrE 7 still up on the Adobe site, but I do not know with certainty. Of those two, I would think that PrE 7 might be the better candidate, but there will still be no guarantee that your PrE 2.0 will Open, or Open properly.
Personally, I would Export/Share (do not remember the exact syntax in PrE 2.0) to DV-AVI and then just play that resulting file on the friend's computer.
    Good luck,

  • Can I use adobe after effects with my project from premiere elements

Wondering if I can use adobe after effects with my premiere elements project

    drunner
What version of Adobe After Effects do you have?
Whatever the case, I have not found any Adobe After Effects documentation that include a Premiere Elements project.prel file as a supported import choice.
I suspect that you are going to have to export your Premiere Elements Timeline as a .mp4 file with a After Effects supported compression into After Effects.
But, I would ask in the Adobe After Effects Forum just to double check.

  • I need to be able to take my project from premiere elements and put it in after effects.

I need to keep the format the same, and also be able to see all individual clips and move them around/trim them in the workbar area in after effects just like what you can do in elements 11.

    sam.loomis1234
The only way out of Premiere Elements 11 is via export in video format (except for jpegs or audio under Publish+Share/Computer/Image or audio).
The video is whole, not in a project file (project.prel).
And, the Premiere Elements 11 project.prel does not appear to be an After Effects supported project format

  • Newbe requests how to remove "applause" from Project in Premiere Elements 4?

This is the second time I attempted to make a large slide show using Photoshop Elements 9 and Premiere Elements 4  I am having two main problems:
    1.  I do not know how it got there but every time I run the slideshow on Premiere Elements I hear applause on each photo?  Don't know how it got there either and frustrated how to get rid of it
    2.  When I move a photo to another place it leaves a blank space.  I try to get rid of the space by going onto Edit and asking to delete and close gap.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.  Then sometimes my only option is to remove the present photo and it does not remove it.
    3.  Lastly I wanted to change composing the slide show from Premiere Elements to Photoshop Elements 9 but the latter would not recognize the file.
THIS PROJECT IS A HUGE RUSH PROJECT FOR MY DAUGHTER'S 25TH ANNIVERSARY.  TIME IS RUNNING OUT AND I AM PANICKING.
    Thanks for your help.
    Kathy

    Kathy,
You say that you have PrE 4.0, but I did not see which version of PSE you have. You would need PSE 4.0, to be able to go directly to PrE from PSE. Otherwise, one would need to do, as you have, and Export from PSE as a WMV file, which would then be Imported into PrE.
The weakness in this latter method, the Export/Import, is that a WMV file is highly-compressed, so quality, when coming out of  PrE will be compromised. Next, if one has the same versions of the two programs, and they Send to PrE from PSE, once in PrE, they can choose Break Apart, to get all of the elements in the SlideShow separated again - this cannot be donw with the WMV Export/Import.
Now, even with the WMV Export/Import method, one can still edit, but they are now cutting on a finished AV file, and things are not so easy - they are working on one large Video file, and one large Audio file on the Timeline.
For the blank spaces, one can just cut those out of the Video, but if the whole Clip (the WMV file) has Audio, that needs to stay, things are not quite so easy. In your case, however, it might be easiest to just Delete the Audio from the WMV, cut the Video to suit, and then Import the Audio Clips that were used in PSE, and just use those again, listening closely for the one(s) with the applause, and substitute something else, instead. This editing will be much, much easier in Timeline View Mode.
For that applause, it might be easier to go back to the Project in PSE, find where it is being introduced, and substitute for it there.
Now, if the applause comes during otherwise silent passeges, you can just cut it out, or can lower the Volume to the point that it is not heard. If it comes over music or dialog, there is nothing easy, that can be done. To remove it, and save the music, or dialog, will be virtually impossible and take much time, for probably little improvement.
Let us know just a little bit more about your Project and also the version number of PSE.
    Good lukc,
    Hunt

  • From Premiere Elements 4 to CS3

I am considering moving from Premiere Elements 4.0 to CS3 (on Windows Vista 32 bit). I have a couple of questions regarding the two, I'm hoping someone here may know.
    1) Can CS3 read Premiere Element 4.0 projects (windows versions).
    2) Is CS3 more responsive and less prone to crashing than Elements 4.0 with HD projects? While Premiere elements 4.0 renders quite quickly compared to elements 3, it seems quite a bit less stable and is more "swappy". If you load a 5-10 min HD project, it takes quite a while, and if you minimize it to go to your email or something, then go back to it, it takes quite a long time before it brings the window back up and is responsive. This really makes for a frustrating workflow. I've tried all the performance tips, changing registry entries etc, reinstalling nothing helps. It's just slow. I have a quad core Intel QX6700 processor, latest drivers for everything, 4GB of system RAM, and an NVidia 8800GTX video card, so the system is pretty fast. I'm hoping CS3 would perform better on the same system.

    1) Yes but beware that media used in an Elements project must be CS3 compatible - or it will simply show as offline / unsupported when you open the elements project in CS3
    2. Hmm.. My system is of lesser spec than yours but I dont have that problem. OK Premiere takes a while to load and open a project but if I then minimize it do some email (or whatever) and go back to PP - it is virtually instant - certainly less than a second. Maybe someone else here can suggest the cause

For importing media into the project, in the Expert or Export area, you go to Add Media and select the appropriate choice for your situation.
For exporting your Timeline content, in the Expert or Export area, you go the area designated Publish+Share/ and make your choices and subchoices.
What do you want to do? If you post some details of your source and how you would like to export it (to file saved to the hard drive or to disc), I

  • Bad output from Premiere Elements

I've tried every option but consistently the DVDs burned with my videos from Premiere Elements 11 are out of focus.  this makes this software useless for me.  I'm now using Photoshop Elements to generate slide shows and importing them into another video software to burn onto DVDs.  What's wrong with this software???!!!

The problem isn't just that the resolution isn't as good as the source materials.  It is totally out of focus and looks like a 3-D picture before you put on the glasses.  My premiere 9 worked beautifully but version 11 is awful.  I am still using the same input as I did with version 9, which is mostly photos with some video.  As a matter of fact, most of it is Photoshop elements projects, which should work well with Premiere.
My project settings:  editing mode -- HD 1080i (the default, I think)
              video frame size 1920x1080
What other settings are you're looking for?
For the project I've just been working on, I ended up doing it in Windows movie maker, and I got fine results with much less effort.
I'm about to shop for another video editor.  But I like the richness of options offered by Premiere and its link with elements, so would prefer to stick with it.
    Thanks.

  • Upload problems with Facebook and Vimeo from Premiere Elements 10

I have created a project in HD and am trying to upload to Vimeo.  Premiere Elements 10 does not have a preset so I followed some instructions from the Vimeo website.  Project is "blurry" when viewed.  I checked with Vimeo and they said what they converted matches what I sent so the problem must be in the export - bit rate may be incorrect.  Can anyone give me the correct presets for Vimeo from Premiere Elements 10.  I can view other people's video in HD and they look fine so I don't think it's my computer monitor.   I'm sure you will need more information about my project so please give me a list of specific things you need to know.  Thank you.
My Facebook problem is as follows.  If I use the preset from Premiere Elements 10 to upload to Facebook it looks fine, HD quality as expected.  Problem is, I would like to upload to my business page.  Since the personal page and the business page (managed by my personal account) share a login, the preset always loads to my personal page.  Does anyone know the values of the preset so I can upload the video to my business page.  My business is event and wedding videography so I would like the posts to be as clear as possible.
If the problem with the Vimeo uploads is solved then I suppose I can just share the Vimeo file on Facebook.  Thank you.

    VDRAVES
I think that you are overlooking what you already have with regard to a Vimeo HD preset for export to file for upload of the saved file at the Vimeo website.
    Please see
Share/Computer/AVCHD with Presets = Vimeo HD
Under the Advanced Button/Video Tab, you can customize the preset further from 1280 x 720 to 1920 x 1080 and increase the bitrate, if necessary, to a level that does not give you a prohibitive file size. With Profile = Main and Level = 3.1, the bitrate range is 0.19 to 14 Mbps (megabits per second).
I would start with the default bitrates of Target = 8 Mbps and Maximium = 9 Mbps and explore and experiment from there.
If you customize the preset to 1920 x 1080 in the Export Settings customization area, then change the Profile to High and the Level to 5.1
When you do that the bitrate range will be 0.19 to 300 Mbps instead of 0.19 to 14 Mbps.
In all cases, watch for file size versus bitrate versus quality of end product.
Please give that a look and then let us know if the above resolves your Vimeo and Facebook question.
Please review and let us know the outcome.
    Thank you.

  • Can't find offline media for a saved project.  Premiere Element 13.  I'm just a novice

I'm just a novice. I've tried to open an older project and it states that media is off line.  I haven't be able to get it back in order to burn another copy of the project.

    edgooding2
Are you trying to open a project file from an older version of Premiere Elements in Premiere Elements 13?
Or, have you done a project in Premiere Elements 13, saved closed it, and now reopen it to find a lot of colorful displays
and "Where is the file _____?" messages?
Major question...forget about the project for the moment...if you go to the computer hard drive, can you spot the files
that the project is telling you are missing?
After any of these project files were saved closed, did you move, delete, or rename files and folders that went into the project?
Let us start here, and then we can decide what next and then go into a lot more details to get your project's source
    media reconnect to the project.
Never hesitate to ask questions and ask for clarification.

  • Import a Premiere CS3 Project into Premiere Elements 7.

Is it possible (or NOT) import a Premiere CS3 Project into Premiere Elements 7?
Thanks a lot for any help.

It is only possible to open some PrE Projects into the right version of PrPro, but will not work the other way around. The error message that you will get is "This Project was created in Adobe PrPro and you need to open it in that program."
Even going the PrE to PrPro route is filled with potholes. I can open some PrE 4 Projects in PrPro 2.0, but not all - depends on what was done. Later versions of PrE will not open in PrPro 2.0, but some have opened in CS3 and CS4, though much can keep one from being able to do that.
    Sorry for the bad news,

  • Exporting from premiere elements 4 to premiere elements 10

I am converting over from premiere elements 4 to premiere elements 10. I Have titles that were created in 4 that I would like to use in elements 10. Is there an easy way to export from one to the other?

    Welcome to the forum.
You will want to Export as a Template, into the folder of your choice. That will yield a .PRTL file, that can then be opened in PrE 10. Unfortunately, I know of no way to automate, or batch that, so you will want to launch PrE 4, and then the Project(s), Select the particular Title, and choose Export>Template (or similar syntax).
I have my personal Title Templates located in a "Hunt Titles" folder. It is then available to PrE and PrPro.
    Good luck,
