MPS/MRP Recommendations in 11i

When suggesstions are made in MPS/MRP what criteria is used to establish what jobs get cancelled and what jobs get rescheduled if net WIP is checked? Haven't been able to figure out the logic. Does it have to do with due date on job...or order quantity or what?
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
We also need help on the logic of MPS. We have a scenario as below which we can't understand why system suggests to reschedule out discrete jobs. Please kindly give me your advices.
Thks,
ITEM A
Demand = 0
Supply:
-Job A=100, start day = plan day + 3 days
-Job B=100, start day = plan day + 3 days
-Job C=5000, start day = plan day + 3 days
We run MPS under the following situations and get some result we can't figure out why:
1. all jobs are not firmed:
==> system suggests to cancel 3 jobs
==> this is OK to us
2. firm job A & B, and job C is not firmed
==> system suggests to cancel C
==> this is also OK to us
3. firm job C only
==> system suggests to RESCHEDULE OUT job A & B
==> why??
We don't have min/max order qty for item A.

  • Sales orders ans reservations not taken into account on MPS / MRP

    Hello,
I am implementing the MPS / MRP and I have the following problem:
I have modified the necessary material master fields to take into account some materials on the MPS / MRP execution. These fields are MRP type, Lot Size, Strategy group and Availability Check.
Then, executing the MPS / MRP I have realised that only the sales orders and reservations created after the material master modifications are taken into account when I execute the MPS / MRP.
I suppose this is because the sales orders and reservations created before the material master modifications did not create the requirements because the availability check was not set for the material and so on... but I need to take into account these "old" reservations and sales orders .
Is there any way to "update" these orders and reservations?? Or I need to delete them and create new ones??
There are several sales orders and reservations created before the material master modifications. I think there have to be an standard way to update them.
Thank you very much in advanced,
    Jordi.

    Dear,
Are you getting these reservation in MD04?
Check the Planning file entry for these material in MD21 if not then create it through MD20 and take MRP run with planning mode -3 Deleted and recreated. And Processing key NETCH.
Also check the The firmed receipt is within the rescheduling horizon. The rescheduling horizon is set in Customizing for the MRP group (Transaction OPPR, Table T438M). A default value can be predefined in the Customizing of plant data (Transaction OPPQ, Table T399D). define the longer duration for it.
The firmed receipt (the MRP element) participates in the rescheduling check. You can set which MRP elements participate in the rescheduling check in the Customizing of the plant data (Transaction OPPQ).
Else you can carry out modification A using the MD_CHANGE_MRP_DATA BAdI and the CONSIDER_RESB method without making a modification.

  • MRP recommendation -- Do a Stock transfer instead of Purch or prodn Order..

With the MRP report recommendations you can either select to  fulfill the recomendation by Purchase Order or Production Order. is it possible to add another option i.e Stock Transfer. I.E Customer has mutliple warehouses in different regions and they are supplied via a primary warehouse. eg run MRP for region x and use the MRP recommendations to trigger stock transfers from the primary Warehouse.
    Any pointers Greatly Appreciated!!!
    thanks

Thanks for the reply, currently I am heading down the path of
using the order recomendation table (ORCM) from there it should  be possible to  run an addon to present this table with the option of a stock transfer from a primary warehouse
    so the user would
1: run the MRP as normal
2:then from the recomendation screen launch a new screen that gives you the option of selecting a warehouse and initiating stock transfers for items that are available
3:ones that are not available(or not enough in stock)  would remain on the recomendation report to be actioned with a PO or ProdOrder.
the stock transfer would move the stock to some sort of virtual wharehouse while the logistics physically move the goods. then then to receive the goods the user would enter a similar screen bring up all the goods in the virtual w/h and maybe tick all the valid ones and do a stock transfer to the 'actual' w/house.
ps any comments on this 'theory' are appreciated
    thanks for looking

can any one help me is there any other way to get MRP recommendations for  my sales order
    Regards

This is the limitation of MRP in SAP B1. You cannot run MRP against a Particular Sales Order.

  • MPS & MRP - Whats the Difference.

    Hi..
I am a beginner in PP , can anyone of can explain with clear steps after Demand Management triggering demand programs, which inturn will pass data to either MPS or MRP .... Under what Conditions MPS or MRP triggers, what are the main transactions involved for these Demand Program , MPS & MRP.
I want to whats the main differnece between MPS & MRP ....( Is MRP a subprocess of MPS??)  Please anyone Can elaborate it  in detail.
Links & Any Crisp detailed overview will be highly appreciated.

    Balaji

    Hi
There are three types of MRP levels...MRP (Material Requirement Planning), MPS (Master Production Schedule) and CBP (Consumption Based Planning)
    <b>MPS is part of MRP</b>
In MPS you can plan important assemblies sepeartely (critical parts and which has much influence on the profit A type). You can mark the assemblies as MPS parts by assigning the <b>MRP types M0 to M4</b> in the material master MRP1 view.
The main difference between both MRP and MPS is that MPS is only good for single level BOM explosion and used for mainly Type A materials which has higher value and importance and planned carefully and greatly influence the company profits or those that require critical resources whereas MRP is used for mainly Type B and C materials
Main Idea is that Master production scheduling (MPS) is a form of MRP that concentrates planning on the parts or products that have the great influence on company profits or which dominate the entire production process by taking critical resources. These items are marked as ‘A’ parts (MPS items) and are planned with extra attention. These items are selected for a separate MPS run that takes place before the MRP run. The MPS run is conducted without a BOM explosion so that the MRP controller can ensure that the Master schedule items (MSI) are correctly planned before the detailed MRP run takes place.
<b>Transaction codes</b>: MPS can be run from MD41 (single item multi level) MD42 (single item single level) and MDBS (Background plant level MPS) & MD40 (Foreground / Online plant level)
Normal MRP can be run from MD02 (single item multi level), MD03 (single item single level) and MDBT (Background plant level MRP), MD01 (Online plant level)
Hope now u r cleared.....Please reward if found useful

  • MRP recommending excess stock

I have item A with no min/max inventory.  Instock is 0.
It is on sales order due Dec. 1, quantity 1.
It is on a PO that is due to arrive Dec. 14, quantity 1.
According to this, I donu2019t need any more, although my SO will ship late.
If I run MRP, it recommends a new PO for Dec. 1.
The problem is that I will end up with 1 extra piece.  The only way I can prevent MRP from ordering too much is to have my PO date before the SO date.
Is this the way MRP is supposed to work?

    Hi,
Welcome you post on the forum.
You are right. This is the built in function of MRP. Even though you are fine with later arrival, the system calculation will not allow it.
However, it is only a recommendation. The final decision is the person who order. If you are ok with late arrival, just don't add the PO.
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • MPS & MRP

As i understand, MPS is single item, single level planning generally done for expensive items. we have md03 also in mrp for single item single level. then wht is the difference between two? thanks in advance.

    Hello,
Yes what you have observed is right but there are also following additional features of MPS which can be used (these are not there with single item multilevel run - md03.
    Planning Time Fence
You can protect the master plan from any automatic changes to master schedule items in the near future by using a planning time fence. Within the planning time fence, the system does not automatically schedule or change the procurement proposals. Therefore, the MRP controller has time to plan the master schedule items manually. However, to support the MRP controller, the system can create necessary procurement proposals and schedule them for the end of the planning time fence. You can then schedule these procurement proposals manually as you wish.
    Processing the Planning Result Interactively
With interactive planning, you can check the results of the automatic planning run for master schedule items with simple and easy-to-use tools and simulate changes and regenerative planning. The system does not save the planning data in the database until you save the interactive planning.
Interactive planning is especially useful for adjusting dates of planned orders falling within the planning time fence.
    Evaluating the MPS Run
With the help of the user-friendly structure of the planning results, you can react quickly and efficiently to any problems that may occur. A series of standard evaluations are available within MPS to achieve this. You can also generate individual evaluations according to your specific needs.
Hope this satisfies you. Award points if benefitted.

  • Not able to do Pegging for both MPS & MRP Workbench

    Hi Experts,
We have implemented SCP (Oracle EBS 11.5.10.2).
Loaded the forecast, then ran the MDS.
Also ran the MPS (for finished goods). Later opened the MPS workbench, cannot see items for pegging.
    Please do the needful.
    Thanks.

Chk the pegging attribute in the organization items screen (mrp/mps planning tab) for that item.

  • MPS/MRP Module

    Dear All,
What would be the impact on MDS driven 1) MRP and 2) MDS driven MPS, MPS driven MRP?
Also what would be the significance of using Relieve, Feedback and Production.
    Regards,
    Saravanan

    Hi Saravanan,
Basically when defining a MRp,when you have your Feedback checked it means that you can keep a track on the qty of the planned order which has been relased to a discrete job or a requistion inpo or a purchase order .When have your production check box enabled it means that you are dropping the qty in the planned order directly ie.automatically to release. But here only those planned orders falling within ur release time fence will be released.

    Bala.

  • Filtering MPS / MRP proposals.

    Hello!
In my system we have set following MRP parameters:
    MRP Type = M0
    Lot size = FX.
Fixed lot size = 100000 PC.
Every planned order has qty = 100000 PC.
When sometimes appears planned dependent requirement for 1 PC, system automatically generate new planned order for
100000PC. It is very bad situaton.
Is there any parameters in master data where I could to eliminate this cases?
I would like to decide, that when planned dependent requirements are less than 10% of fixed lot size, system will not generate any planned orders.
When planned dependent requirements are greater than 10% of fixed lot size, system must generate planned order with fixed lot size equal to 100000 PC.
    How to solve this problem?
    Regards
    Bogdan

    Dear,
"Last lot exact" (V439A-LASTL) into the Customizing of the MRP lot sizes (Transaction OMI4). Via this indicator you can define whether the last lot at the end of the net planning or gross planning segment is supposed to be planned exactly. In this case, rounding value, fixed lot size, minimum lot size and so on are not used for the calculation of the last lot. The MRP run creates the last procurement proposal exactly in the amount that an available number of zero results at the end of the planning segment.
Or you can use the MD_CHANGE_MRP_DATA BAdI to consider or to exclude special MRP elements other than the ones that are defined in the standard system depending on a certain selection rule IM_SFILT import parameter. Here you need to apply your own logic.
For more details solution use the BAdI documentation.
    Hope it will help you.

  • MRP - Purchase Order recommended

    Hello,
Is it possible for MRP to recommend Purchase Orders to be created per warehouse(based on minimum inventory levels per warehouse). Currently, MRP recommends one Purchase Order with a total of the qty's across all the warehouses.
    e.g. Warehouse A Min Qty = 5
           Warehouse B Min Qty = 5
           Warehouse C Min Qty = 5
MRP recommends one Purchase order, Qty 15 and for Warehouse A.
    Thanks
    Janice

    Hi......
The only alternative would be to record the scene of the initial MRP to generate then all orders for a store, changing the numbers in the window of recommendations. Thus, in a second step, MRP run the wizard again to record the new scene will consider the remaining balances to successively make the process as many times as purchase orders from different stores there
    I hope it will help
    Best regards,

  • MRP & MPS PROBLEM

    Dear ,
In my company we using MPS & MRP TWo planning mode.
Also we use two type of planning .one SO base & other one is on PIR.
    I working with Process IND.
In our company only for packing Mat. we use SO,meansfor
    FG we use MPS
    SFG we use MPS.
    ROH we use MRP.
    Here we got problem.
Because by MB50 we got PLANNED ORDER for FG(A LEVEL ITEM).And SFG & ROH (B LEVEL item) we got Dep Req.And for ROH(C LEVEL ITEM)we not got any change.
So my problem is that for B level item i have to run MRP or MPS agin.
if it is single material then its ok but 10 or 12 material its become difficult for me that i have to run mps then again MRP.
So what i can do after A level MPS.
    For B & c level material.......????????

    Hi ,
Do this setting in your system , set up a back ground job for MPS materials and them set up the same for MRP materilas , this will solve your problem ., because MRP will run after the MPS run by which all your materilas will be planned accordingly .
    Thanks and Regards,
    Mallikahrjun.

  • MRP and MPS Run

    Hi all,
I found some materials in my 'Quality Environment' which has their MRP type to 'PD' but the problem is planning run for those materials work with Transactions 'MD02' and 'MD41' as well .How is this possible ? Is there any provision in 'SPRO' to enable such ? If so what is the point in doing so ?
    Regards,
    Rahul

    Hi Rahul,
MD02 = Single Item multi level. With use this transaction you can run MRP for single material but system will planned up to its last level of BOM.So its called as single item multi level.
But most important condition is MPS mrp types (M0/M1/M2) are not allowed this run.
While MD41 is also a Single Item multi level and can be used to run MRP up to last level of BOM.
But its advantage over MD02 is it can be used for both PD and M0 types of MRP types.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Ramagiri

  • MPP, MPS/MPP, MRP/MPP Type(In Item Attribute)

What is the difference between we use MPP, MPS/MPP, MRP/MPP Type(In Item Attributes)?

    Lokesh,
ASCP Release 11i10 included a significant number of enhancements related to master scheduling, two level scheduling, and hub & spoke processes. At that time, Oracle was also planning the release of a major new product offering Distribution Planning (also called Deployment planning), this was introduced in Release 12. As part of these improvements, Oracle changed the traditional name for DRP plans to MPP (Master Production Plans) to avoid any confusion with the newly created DRP product. The old functionality of having multiple plans work together (DRP,MPS,MRP) in a chained fashion still works, but the names are now (MPP,MPS,MRP)
The item attributes were changed as shown below:
    - Not Planned
    - MRP Planning
    - MPS Planning
    - MRP/MPP Planned
    - MPS/MPP Planned <<-- formerly MPS/DRP planned
    - MPP Planned <<-- formerly DRP planned
These attributes have the same meaning as before and a full description can be found in the Oracle MRP/Master Scheduling User Guide
