Multiple language DVD - Help!!

Hey everyone,
I started a project in 2.0.  It is a basic menu screen with 19 buttons for different languages each linked to a different subtitle track, so 19 tracks in all.  This is a 16x9 project, and I noticed that Encore can only handle 16 subtitle tracks per timeline.  I created 2 timelines (identical), one has 10 subtitle tracks, the other 9.  Encore will not burn my project.  It always freezes when it gets to the loading the subtitles part. I have tried this on two computers with 2.0 and completely rebuilt the project in 3.0 with no luck. Some error messages I have gotten: "Abnormal operation," "Out of memory," or it just plain freezes. It has to be something with the amount of subtitle tracks, but I cannot figure it out.  Any advice would be sooo helpful--this DVD HAS to go out tomorrow.  Forgive me if this is a repeat post! Thanks in advance.

Are you still trying to access all of those Subtitle Tracks from the one 16:9 Menu?
With Widescreen Menus, you are limited on the number of Buttons allowed. I believe that it's 16 for 16:9 and 32 to 4:3 Menus. [Check out those numbers as it might be 18 and 36. I always seem to confuse the total numbers.]
You will need to go with two Menus for the number of Tracks that you have.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Multiple Language DVD

    Hola,
I'd like to author a DVD in Studio Pro offering up to 4 Multiple Languages. The project is all voice over so I would have the different audio tracks for each and I'm guessing that I'd have to compress each time line separately. Has anyone done this with success and if so what are the specifics in FCP and Studio Pro?
    Thanks

If your video track is the same in all versions you will just compress your audio tracks, bring them in, eg. audio 2, 3 and 4 and add your scripting linking each.
Good luck. If you have further postings post in DVDSP forum.

  • Multiple language support help

I have a large application with more than several hundred sub VIs. Now, we want to modify it to provide multiple language support, for example, Chinese or French.  I have searched the forum and have some clue, but still cannot fit our needs.
    1. from NI site, one method is to export string and import string. But for several hundred sub VIs, do I need to to this several hundred times for each VI? since in our application, some strings are hardcoded.
    2. using excel sheet, everytime read excel file and modify the contorl properities. I am not sure how this works in details.
Any advice or suggestion will be appreciated. Thanks.

    michenglaoxu,
Please see the following post, as well as How Can I Use Chinese Characters in LabVIEW on Windows XP?, perhaps it can help also note the following excerpt from Localizing Your LabVIEW Application to Different Languages:
"You do not need to have a specific language
version of LabVIEW, such as French, German, or Japanese, to be able to
enter display text in that language. LabVIEW supports single and double
byte characters, but it does not support bidirectional scripts (such as
    Arabic or Hebrew).
If you want to display text in multi-byte
character sets (such as Japanese, Chinese, or Korean) in LabVIEW, you
only need an operating system of the appropriate language or an
MBCS-enabled operating system with an Input Method Editor (IME) for the
corresponding language. Also, there are several commercially available
language kits that you can add on to the operating system."

  • Multiple language DVD video

    Hi at all,
    I've a doubt.
I'm making a DVD video with many languages. Each language must have a different menu (language menu) and each video track have an audio + subtitle track dedicated for each language.
I also need to start the dvd with a languages menu where everyone could choose the preferred language from a list. I think that a greek person could want to see and listen at the franch audio + subtitles instead of english audio and subtitles
Have I to script each language button? How could I set the language menu for each button? Thanks in advance and sorry for my english...

Here is an example of using scripts for setting preferences, in that case audio. So you can do something like that to have people select their language and route to the rest of the DVD as needed.
    http://www.dvdstepbystep.com/audioset.php
There are a couple of other approaches also. I would let the users decide what subtitle/audio they want and not assume that, using the Greek language selection, that they would want to hear/see French. Makes it easier to code also.
Quick heads up, you mention many langauges and there are limits on audio and subtitle streams on a track (audio is probably going to be a more practical limit based on the number of streams)
Also keep in mind how subtitle and audio streams will affect encoding/maximum rates

  • Help with using multiple languages using "aspx?lang="

Hello all I am working on a project on an IIS server and the admin wants to use the "?lang=" to select which pages load up depending on what URL the user types into the browser.
I am unfamiliar with how this works and after a few searches I am not finding any info that explains it for someone unfamiliar with it.
Could someone be so kind as to link me to a good tutorial or simply explain the basics of how this works so that I could research it more myself?
    Any help/info is appreciated!
    Thank you in advance

Selecting a language through a URL is just one aspect of a content management system. You should research/google 'content management system' to find a CMS (or create a CMS) that supports multiple languages.
Or do you already have a CMS?

  • Can I use RoboHelp to support localization and generate help files in multiple languages?

    Hi,
Can I use RoboHelp to support localization and generate help
    files in multiple languages?
Can I define a layout or template for RoboHelp to insert
localized strings into the template and generate a localized help
    file?
    Thanks!

Hi newbie_r and welcome to the RH community.
You don't say what version of RH you have but the latest
version (RH7) has Unicode Support that allows you to produce help
files in most languages. The exceptions are mainly the right to
    left languages (e.g. arabic, hebrew).
As far as the template is concerned, you can assign any text,
image to a template and it will be applied to any topics you assign
    the template to.
If you haven't already, I'd download the trial version and
experiment a bit. Set up a template with what you want and then
create a couple of simple help files containing just a few topics
each. That will reassure you of RH7s capabilities in this
    area.

  • HELP!!! FLV Multiple Language Tracks

    Action Script 2.0
I am putting together a presentation with 2 pieces of video
that are the same, but 1 is in english and 1 is in italian. How do
I setup it up to where they both play at the same time (English
1st), yet when a button is hit, the Italian clip is active and the
english is not. I do not want them to stop, in case the button is
hit again and it goes back to English.
I understand there is a way for CUE Points and Multiple
Language Tracks. How would I set that up? Do I just need one FLV
without Audio and 2 seperate MP3's (English - Italian)?
What else does anyone need to know.

I did find this in QuickTimePro's Help file:
    +Specifying Languages for Individual Tracks+
+With QuickTime Pro, you can create a movie with support for multiple languages by specifying a language for an individual track. For example, you can create a movie that contains a separate audio track for each language. QuickTime automatically plays the correct track, based on the language setting of the user's computer.+
    +To specify languages:+
+Create or assemble the alternate tracks.+
+Record voiceovers in each desired language or create text tracks to use as subtitles. Save each alternate track as a self-contained movie, and put all the alternates together in a single folder.+
+Put a copy of your original movie, self-contained and minus any tracks that are now stored as alternates, in the folder with the alternates.+
+Open the movie and choose Window > Show Movie Properties.+
+In the Properties window, select a sound or text track and click Other Settings.+
+Choose the language of this track from the Language pop-up menu.+
+Choose a track to use when a different language is selected from the Alternate pop-up menu.+
+Save as a self-contained movie (choose Edit > Save As and make sure "Make movie self-contained" is selected).+
+Repeat these steps for additional language tracks; each time, choose the previously selected language from the Alternate pop-up menu.+

  • Multiple Language Menus Without Multiple Menus

    Hey everybody!
Happy New Years everyone. Hopefully, soeone out there can help me with this little problem. I am creating a DVD for a school, and it is designed to promote the school overseas. So this means that each menu has to be displayed in multiple languages (seven, to be precise). Now, I've done the english ones, and the total size comes to 1.1GB. Is there any way that I can make these menus display the text in other languages without creating each menu again another six times?
The way I've got it set up is that the first menu allows you to pick which lanuage you want to use. So altogether there are 8 menus, and that is just for the english reading world. Can I then make it so that I only need these 8 menus and so if you select Chinese in the first menu, it will take you to the english menu, except display the text in Chinese? I know this is confusing, and I'm orry.
Basically, can I make the DVD siplay different languages using only 8 menus, or do I have to make 56 menus (8 for each language).
    Cheers!
    Nich

I was afraid of that. Well, thanks for your help.
Ma, put on a pot of coffee! IT'S GONNA BE A LONG NIGHT!!!

  • Database storage of multiple languages for name of a single entity

Surely I'm not the first person to have this problem, but I can't find many resources on how to solve this. Just some background on what I'm working with, I'm running a web application using the Struts framework with jdk 1.4 on a Weblogic 8.1 server connected to an Oracle 9i database, I'm using DAO for my persistence layer, and I'm not opposed to using any 3rd party software to assist in this task.
For example, say I have a database of DVDs, My application will retrieve the list of DVDs from the database to display to the user. Depending on the user's Locale I want to display the title of the DVD in that language.
This is a simple example, but the real-world application is much more complicated. The application is highly configurable meaning that through a configuration application, my internal users can add DVDs at any time, edit the title of the DVD, or add a new language that they want the title to display in, etc. When a customer logs in to the application front-end they will be able to change the language they want the application to display in at any time, and the application will need to reflect that change. The display of constant text like field labels and page text is easy using Struts but its this configurable dynamic text thats a bit more difficult.
Its obvious to me that I will need to store the multiple languages in the database in some way, I'm thinking of either storage in some xml format, or a new table hanging off the "dvd" table with languages for each dvd. Either of these options would work for my purposes, but I don't want to go reinvent the wheel when this same problem has arleady been solved. If someone could point me in the right direction I would appreciate it

One common way to handle this is to modify your key for the dvd title to include a locale identifier:
    key dvdtitle
    becomes
    key locale dvdtitle
Now your db can hold multiple translations of the same dvd title.

But now I am using the new version of Pages 5.2 (1860).
I want to know with the new version how do I use an multiple language types in a single document option.

In the new Pages 5.2 I do not know how to do it
    Could you help me?

It's not possible to tag text with multiple languages in Pages 5.  Go back to Pages 4, which should still be in you iWork folder.
For the whole doc in Pages 5, use Edit > Spellling and Grammar > Show Spelling and Grammar.

  • Best practice in working with Adobe forms in multiple languages

We have to provide access to some Adobe Interactive Forms in both English and French, some of them from Web Dynpro application(s), some of them as callable objects from Guided Procedures.
1- We know for sure that we can have two copies of each form, one in English and one in French but that implies duplicating the FormCalc and Javascript code behind.
2- Another way if to modify in javascript all labels, captions using some javascript i.e. If lang = "E" then "My label" else "Mon étiquette" . It would work but it is not very efficient.
Is someone here has experience with this type of situation and would be willing to share his experience with me?
    Thanks in advance,

    Hi Benoit,
For Adobe Forms in multiple language you can use include text solution also . Within this solution you need to add a language parameter in your interface and then retrieve the include text in the language value ( not current language ) . Personnaly i used a lot this solution with Smartforms text .
Also i used dictionnary text for text linked with data dictionnary element . For this there is standard function module in SAP .
Anothers way is in the SFP editor you can translate your form as in SAPSCRIPT .
    Hope this help you
    Regard.
PS : if necessary i can send you a sample form with smartform/Dictionnary text solution.

  • GRC 10.0 Notifications in Multiple Languages

    Hello GRC Gurus,
In my Organization, We have a requirement to support French Language due to legal requirements in the Quebec provinvce. This means that all notifications to users in the Quebec province will have to be delivered in French.
I have researched this in as far as:
French Language has to be implemented as a prerequisite in SMLT
The standard notification templates will be available in French language once the language pack is installed
The issue i have here is:
can the notifications be sent to different sets of users in different languages? I see that that one message class can only be associated with one document object. Is there a way to get around this to define who will get the notification in French and who will get it in English probaly based on USER GROUP or DEFAULT LANGUAGE
Ofcourse, the message documents can be modified to present it in both English and French to make it easier but in future if there are legal requirement in others countries it does not make sense to keep adding the message body in all the required languages
    Can you please help?
    Regards,
    Prashant

    Hi Prashant,
I was looking into a similar requirement and came to the early conclusion that GRC is not smart enough to handle multi language notifications.
The reason why I say this is that whilst you can create multiple documents in SE61 in different languages, it looks like you can only create a single message class that gets aligned into MSMP, i.e no choice of multiple languages there.
What I am unsure about (as I have never bothered to investigate it) is the "message number" column in the "Variables & Templates" section of MSMP. I am unsure if you can send a number of messages for the same template and message class.
Also, I am unsure how GRC checks the user's logged in language and selects the document template.
Have you considered having the content of the email contain dual languages? i.e. first paragraph in English, second in French etc?

  • How to store multiple languages using APEX

    Hi,
I am asked to develop an Application where I have to store data in multiple languages. If someone enters their info in Chinese, I should be able to store it in Chinese and display it back. Has any one worked on a similar project ? What will it take to implement it ? Are there any documents on this subject ? Can any one help me ? I would really appreciate any suggestions on this.
    Thanks
    Naresh

    Hi,
A couple of comments to begin with :
    - Your setup script, test case and error message are not consistent with each other.
    - You've not chosen the easiest road with DBMS_XMLSTORE and nested objects. As pointed out in a previous thread of yours, the whole thing would be far more simple with XMLTable.
Do you really need to store the data in an object-relational structure at the end, or do you intend to further break it down into relational rows and columns?
Do you have an XML schema?
