If it says settings general about Version 4.3.3 (8J2). I have intalled the latest vertion for iPad touch 4th generation model? Where I can check if the iPad touch 4th generation has got iTunes (Windows 7) v11.1.4? I think it is the latest vertion.
When I connect ipod touch 4th generation to Mac using usb I get a message that new software vertion (6.1.5) is available for iPod! If I update it, I lose apps and data, but when I check general settings about version for iPod not iPad 4th generation I see version 4.3.5 (8L1). Probably if I update it to the latest version it would say 6.1.5 (8L1). But what (8L1) for iPod mean? I would first recommend going through all of the steps in the articles below.

If the issue persists or your device displays a connect to iTunes graphic, process the steps in article below.
Use recovery mode
Recovery mode erases your device and restores it, which should resolve the issue. If you previously synced with iTunes or iCloud, you may be able to restore from your backup after recovery.
Turn off your device. If you can't turn it off, press and hold the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time and wait a few seconds for it to turn off.
Plug the device's USB cable into your computer only.
Hold down the device's Home button as you connect the USB cable to it.
When you see the Connect to iTunes screen, release the Home button. If you don't see this screen, try steps 1 through 3 one more time.
iTunes should open and display a message such as: "iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. You must restore this iPhone before it can be used with iTunes."
Use iTunes to restore your device.
If you don't see your device in iTunes, follow these steps for Mac or these for Windows.

I updated my Ipod touch 4th gen (IO6 or whatever its called) And it has the picture that says to connect my ipod to Itunes, and I did, now it says "ITunes has detected an Ipod in recovery mode. You must restore this Ipod before it can be used with ITunes." I just updated it and now I have to restore it??! I don't wanna lose all my things on my ipod just for a stupid update! Please someone help!
Once the Device is asking to be Restored with iTunes... it is too late to save anything... and you must continue with the Recovery...

You can't backup the iPod t iTunes then. You will have to use an existing iTunes backup.
If iCloud backup is turned on and the iPod is still working (not disabled), the iPod will automatically backup daily if an internet connection is available and the iPod is connected to a charging source. -

Your iPod can only be synced with one computer at a time. If you try to sync it with a new computer/iTunes library, it will replace the contents of the iPod with whatever is in the new library. You should probably disable the autosync functionality first by going to Edit -> Preferences, clicking the Devices tab, and enabling the prevent iPods,iPhones, and iPads from automatically syncing option.
Before doing anything else, authorize the new computer with your iTunes Account. In iTunes, choose Store -> Authorize This Computer and enter in the correct credentials. Either copy a backup file from your old computer to your new one or create a new backup of your iPod in iTunes before letting it sync.
Then right->click on your iPod Touch from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes and choose Backup. You might also want to take a look at this article to see what it all included in the backup.

Now onto synced content such as music, videos, photos, etc. For iTunes purchases you can copy them back into iTunes by choosing File -> Transfer Purchases. why does itunes say i have the latest version 4.2.1 (8c148) for my 3rd gen iPod touch when it should be iOS 5?
Be sure it is really a 3rd gen. Some people with 2nd gens were told they were 3rd gens. Identifying iPod models or Look up specs by Serial Number. If it is a 2nd gen, then you can't upgrade.
IF IT REALLY IS A THIRD GEN iPod Touch, then you first need to upgrade to iTunes 10.5 in order to download iOS 5 because older versions of iTunes don't support and can't sync with iOS 5. -

Is it a common occurance for an iPad 4th gen to just blank out and stop working? The screen shows nothing at all, no sounds but it registers on my computer when connected.
A reset may help. Tap and hold the Home button and the On/Off buttons for approximately 10-15 seconds, until the Apple logo reappears. When the logo appears, release both buttons.
No content is affected by this procedure. -
I have iTunes 11 on a Windows 8.1 PC. It is streaming to a 3rd Gen Apple TV. Movies and TV Shows seem to play fine. Music will stream for about 10 - 16 songs, then just stop. I have to reset everything, then it will repeat the cycle. This happens regardless of wire or wireless connection. I would suspect that there is something wrong with the network, or Apple TV, except that movies and TV Shows seem to be fine. My music library is about 3700 songs, all legit, either imported from source or puchased through iTunes. This one has me stumped and frustrated!
I thought that may have been the case too. I set the power settings to compensate but still the same. I also done things like reset the router and Apple TV to factory. Starting to think it may actually be the Apple TV, but it just doesn't make sense ?!?

I know it's a tad late, but I recently updated my iPod touch 4th gen to iOS 6 and now it won't play any of my music. It will play Spotify and YouTube just fine, but it won't play my music. I have a iPod Touch 4th Gen. It ran out of battery. So I charged it and it wouldn't show the charging sign. After a few hours, I tried turning on the device, it would not work. I try doing a reset (Power/Lock and Home for 10 sec), still nothing.
I've tried plugging it in to my computer.
Used different chargers, usb cables.
Try doing reset.
I did not drop it recently or drop the device into water. It was working fine before.Try:

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

The latest iTunes software wiped out my apps for my 2G iPod Touch by overwriting newer releases of the apps which are not compatible with iOS 4.2.1. I tried to restore the iPod to an earlier version without success. Is there any way to download older versions of my apps which are compatible with my older iPod?
Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

My itouch (4th generation) has frozen up. It is stuck on the window with the slide bar with shows the time and date (which is the date from 3 days ago, even though it just frozen. It won't shut down by holding down the sleep wake button on top. (yes, I held it for more than 6 seconds) And obviously, I can't pull the slid bar over since it is completely frozen.
BTW, I tried plugging it into the computer and running the diagnostic tests on itunes, but is shows everything is fine.
