MY ITUNES WILL NOT OPEN- I'VE TRIED JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING HELP ME PLEASE!!!
I am so depressed and angry..My beloved Itunes is not opening. I get the error report: "itunes has encountered a problem and needs to shut down sorry for the inconvience"
I've tried the misconfig option,uninstalling and reinstalling the itunes, rebooting, uninstalling and reinstalling quicktime, i did the delete temp option,just about everything I've tried- please to anyone who can help me, give me your solutions please I'm begging you- I never been so lost with out my ipod/itunes...

OK, I've been messin with this for about 4 hours now, I finally found the solution to my problem and would like to share in hopes of helping. Every time I tried to open itunes I recieved this error message:
"iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

Which basically lays out my whole problem - and I did all of the suggested steps but still...
same message... same problem... and no solution.
I came to the mssg boards and tried all these suggested steps that are on this post to no avail. Reinstalled everything over and over. Then I found this:
for itunes 6.0.x, the first thing i check for with one of those is a broken quicktime. does your quicktime currently launch, or does it give you an error message?
try a careful standalone QT 7.0.3 reinstall.

I went and downloaded the standalone quicktime, installed it. Opened the quicktime program to make sure it worked, which it did, then tried itunes again.......

Just hit the arrow of the lefthand side of the ipods name then select "Music" below the ipods name

If Bengt's suggestions don't help try this basic troubleshooting fix :
1 - delete the IDVD preference file, com.apple.iDVD.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete IDVD'S cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iDVD folder.

I can't install Itunes at all. In fact, I can't do very much with it at all anymore. I've deleted all of the files related to Itunes, so...
Let's start from yesterday...When I try to open Itunes from the desktop, it shouts about it not being a valid program. I can open it from clicking a piece of music from my music folder, but that's the only way.
I can't uninstall normally, either. I keep getting this error message: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.

I'd first try downloading an installer from the Apple website using a different web browser:

My itunes will not open, it displays an error that MSVCR80.dll is missing. I tried reinstalling itunes but it fails because the service is not able to start.
Same thing happened to me. I ended up completely uninstalling itunes then downloaded it again from http://www.apple.com/itunes/. If you're using firefox, for some reason itunes will not download and I don't know if using googlechrome will also have problems,so just to be sure that it will work on your first try, use internet explorer when you download itunes. I need help! My itunes will not open in Windows Vista. I have tried everything suggested by the apple website. Even when I open itunes in safe mode, it still will not allow me to continue. I just purchased this movie on Thursday, May 15, so just a few days ago. I have never had any trouble whatsoever since I have been in Vietnam. I have downloaded several movies and even music and they have all synced to my respected Apple products except for this purchase.

I have a laptop using OSX 10.5.8, iTunes v. 10.6.3 and Quicktime 7.7. iTunes will not open. It says it requires QuickTime 7.5.5 or later. I've tried reinstalling each of them. No success. Don't know what to try next.

Open Application > Utilities > System Profiler and check the Quicktime version in Frameworks vs. the version in Applications. One person had re-installed their operating system. It had kept the newer Player application but had reverted to an earlier version of the underlying support framework files which many applications utilize. Re-installing Quicktime 7.7 took care of the problem. Do this manually, not with Software Update.

Let's try a repair install of iTunes first.
Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7, now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "iTunes" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP, head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "iTunes", click "Change" and then click "Repair".

Best route here is to uninstall iTunes completely using the Windows Control Panel.
Make sure you know exactly which version of Win 7 you're running.
Restart your computer from cold (with no iTunes).
Go to Apple website and download the correct version for your operating system. Install following Apple prompts.
Once installed, close iTunes.
Restart your computer from cold (with new iTunes).
Start iTunes - all should be operating well! Good luck ... -

In the Organize menu, click Folder and Search Options.
Click the View tab.
In the "Advanced settings" pane under "Hidden files and folders" make sure that the "Show hidden files and folders" option is selected.
Click OK.
Navigate to the following location by either typing it into the address bar, copying and pasting it into the address bar, or clicking through the folder hierarchy listed: C:\Program Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\SC Info
Right-click the SC Info.sidb file shown and on the shortcut menu, click Delete.
Right-click the SC Info.sidd file shown and on the shortcut menu, click Delete.
Restart the computer and open iTunes. -
