New Custom OAF project - Directory structure

Hello,
I am a newbie to the OAF. I am trying to set up a totally new custom OAF project (using Jdeveloper 9i)
In our current directory structure under $JAVA_TOP, there is no folder/directory for custom projects. Is there a recommended standard directory structure that needs to be used for custom projects/applications? or is it advisable to set up a new directory and the children directories underneath? If new directory needs to be set up what is the logical structure? Can any one provide an example?
Thanks,

Thank you Gyan for the feedback. One last question about the directory structure:
We have a custom schema in our current Oracle Apps DB (let us say 'zz'). As far as I know there is no specific responsibility associated to this schema. In the current non-OAF prod world, we develop custom forms/reports based of the tables in that schema 'zz'. We tend to think of this schema as a custom module. Eventhough there is no specific responsibility associated to this schema, forms/reports developed of this, would be registered to relavent module. ie., AP, GL, FL, PN etc.
If I want to use the tables from that schema and build OAF projects/pages, would my directory structure be still the same as I mentioned before but with zz as the module? i.e, $JAVA_TOP/xx/oracle/apps/zz/?
Thanks,

  • Restoring Rman backup on New Host with different directory structure

    Hi,
I have a following scenario to clone the database.
    1. clone the database on new server
    2. source is non - ASM and target is ASM
    3. On source incremental level 0 backup taken on disk connecting to catalog, the backup is moved to target host to different directory structure
    4. source is running on 32-bit Linux two node Rac and Target is running on 64-bit Linux two node Rac
I did the following steps and getting below error:
    1. I copied incremental Level 0 backup to target server(where we need to build new db) to different directory structure
    2. On target i created pfile and build the instance, as dbf file are in multiple locations in source i put following tow parameters in init.ora of target database
    *.db_file_name_convert =(/u02/oradata/app1p/,+QADATA2/udev/datafile),(/u03/oradata/app1p/,+QADATA1/udev/datafile),(/u12/oradata/app1p/,+QADATA1/udev/datafile,),(/u99/oradata/app1p/,+QADATA1/udev/datafile),(/u09/oradata/app1p/,+QADATA1/udev/datafile),(/u14/oradata/app1p/,+QADATA1/udev/datafile),(/u07/oradata/app1p/,+QADATA1/udev/datafile),(/u06/oradata/prod/,+QADATA1/udev/datafile'),(/u05/oradata/app1p/,+QADATA1/udev/datafile)
    *.log_file_name_convert =("/u99/oradata/app1p/","+QADATA2/udev/onlinelog/")
    3. connected to rman -->> started db in nomount -->> restored the controlfile --> cataloged the backup piece and then i am trying to restore
All the above steps i did using the Doc id *How To Restore Rman Backups On A Different Node When The Directory Structures Are Different [ID 419137.1]*
script i am using is :

  • Solution Manager - Create Project Directory structure

We're planning to use Solution managare for BW upgrade project and would like to maintain all the documentation (like status report, project presentation, Problem log) in SOLMAN. We would like to have directories and sub-directories so that user can select the directory to upload the document.
Could some one help me on how to create directory structure at project level? I'm familiar with business scenario option. Is it only option to load document? Can I've directory structure at project level instead of business scenario level.
    Thanks,
    Milind

    Hi Milind,
You can create one more project for uploading and storing FS and TS.
If you don't want to use the buss scenario option.
For this new project select the components and from solar01 just create the folder manually by whatever name you want .say for e.g SD-pack1 ,pack2 etc.
Upload the files relevant to each module or so.
Please reward points if it helps.

  • Project directory structure

I'm do jsp development onto Tomcat and about 3 months ago moved to Jdev. I've set up my project to go against the Tomcat directory structure but am not sure this is the best thing to do when using jdev. Does anybody have a recommended directory structure to use for a project?

    I got this worked out.

  • OAF Extension (Directory Structure)

    Hello,
Is it mandatory to have oracle.apps in the custom package for extensions?
I'm trying to limit the number of custom directories to be created for the extension.
Currently the extension has only 2 class files and webui files.
When I'm trying to limit the package name to /xxpos/webui/XxobTransferMessagesPG, the application gives an error like 'application id or shortname () you entered does not exist.', when navigating to the page.
It works fine when using /oracle/apps/xxpos/webui/testingPG.
I have seen the docs on customization of OAF and was under the impression that the package name std is for best practices. Is that OAF mandates oracle.apps in the calling mechanisms?

Please see Rams update in this thread.

  • Can I customize my jsp project directory structure for Tomcat?

    When developing with JSP app wizard against BC4J components...All JSP images, js, css, html is based off of a directory from Tomcat ROOT /webapp/images but I need to base these off another existing directory in root - so I'd want setImageDir("/dirname/webapp/images");

Did you read JDeveloper's online help?
There is a complete section about deploying J2EE (including JSP) applications to Oracle9iAS.

  • How to force Jdeveloper to preserve existing sources directory structure?

    Hi all,
I have JDeveloper 9.0.3.4 which I have to use.
I tried to import to project from existing sources and I tried to keep existing sources
directory structure by selection option "Scan source paths to determine project contents" which should (according to documentation) preserve existing directory structure and show it in the Navigator.
But instead I get always (Jdev default?) directory structure:
    Sources
    HTML Sources
    Miscelaneous Files
I changed default settings for Input path in project settings and for default project settings but still I get this Jdev structure.
Is there a way to force JDeveloper to preserve the directory structure of sources it imports from?
    Many thanks,
    Mile

I'd like to be able to specify the default project directory structure in 10g as well. For example I would like to have under the project root:
    build.xml
    src\
    generatedsrc\
    config\
    resources\
    build\
    deploy\
Generating an ant build.xml using the wizard should also take into account the directory structure being used by the JDeveloper project build. I don't see why I should have to modify the build.xml file at all.

  • Very Urgent!!!Calling custom OAF vent reg page from JTT page gives error.

    1. We have a need to customize Oracle Marketing Online Event registration page (Oracle standard JTT page: amsEventRegistrantsEntryMain.jsp - available via function AMS_EVENT_REG_ENTRY) .
    2. We have created a new custom OAF page for the event registration and modified the function definition Web HTML property from "amsEventRegistrantsEntryMain.jsp" to "jtfcrmchrome.jsp?
page=/oracle/apps/xxamw/xxams/event/webui/XXAmsEventRegScheduleCrePG&akRegionApplicationId=540&jttoijappn=OKL" (tried also with OA.jsp call)
    3. Now when we click on the Register link from the base (This Oracle standard Register link calls AMS_EVENT_REG_ENTRY and since AMS_EVENT_REG_ENTRY is modified we expect OAF page to render) page it throws "You have insufficient privileges for the current operation. Please contact your System Administrator." error. The function is not accessible.
    4. Navigation: Oracle Marketing Super User -> Marketing Online -> Event -> Registration Stb menu -> Search for a "Event Schedule Name" -> Click Go -> Click on Register link (We expect our custom OAF page when register link is
    clicked)
Please note this design was tested successfully in an instance but when we migrated this to a new instance it fails. We cannot compare two instances since the previous instance no longer exists. Seems some issue with JTT menu straucture since we are using Oracle standard JTT function. This is a very urgent issue and any quick help or pointer will be great.
    Thanks/ Santanu

    Hi,
R u still facing the issue?
If So can you please tell me:
Have u added your called function to the current user? That means by navigating to the responsibility you can access the same page directly, with out doing any transaction? If so then create your custom function with your required URL and attach to a menu ; then check if you are able to view that page from the menu navigation? If these thing is not working then I think you need to create a custom page that will extend the std region , that time hopefully it will work.
    Please post your result/thought!!

  • Directory structure for the new Data Services Project

    1) I do as prescribed in the manual "Building and deploying
    Flex 2 Applications", page 325
"To create a web application make a copy of the /flex
directory and its contents. Rename the copy and store it in the
    same location under /servers/default directory."
("flex" is an empty Flex Data Services application that
serves as a template for creating your custom application)
    2) I create a corresponding project from Flex Builder 2 :
    Project type: Flex Data Services
    Root folder: C:\fds2\jrun4\servers\default\MyDS
    Root URL:
    http://localhost:8700/default/MyDS
    Project name: MyDS
    Project contents: C:\fds2\jrun4\servers\default\MyDS
    2) I build the project
Immediately after "build project" the directory structure at
    C:\fds2\jrun4\servers\default\MyDS becomes the following:
    .settings
    bin
    ----------------META-INF
    ----------------WEB-INF
    ---------------- --------------- classes
    ---------------- ---------------flex
    --------------------------------jsp
    --------------------------------lib
    -------------------------------sessions
    html-template
    META-INF
    WEB-INF
    ----------------classes
    ----------------flex
    ----------------jsp
    ----------------lib
    ----------------sessions
Notice that bin directory now contains another pair of
META-INF and WEB-INF in addition to those already existing in the
    template project "flex".
Can anybody comment on this directory structure?
Which META-INF and WEB-INF are supposed to be used for
    configuration?
What is the purpose of having two pairs of META-INF and
WEB-INF in the same web app?

    Hello -
first, those folders are necessary in deployment - You need
only the contents of the bin folder for deployment, not the
sources. Since you're compiling the application locally in FB2 it
places all of the supporting and necessary files into one location
namely the "bin" folder. You'd deploy the "bin" folder's contents
to the FDS server, perhaps another FDS server that is not your
"development" server -- like a production server. The data and
configuration information that your app needs for FDS services are
stored in the WEB-INF and META-INF folders so these need to travel
with the final product. On the production server you'd just cop the
"bin" folder and it's contents to the /servers/default folder -
where you could then rename your bin folder to "MyDS"

  • What should be directory structure for Custom MDS files?

    Hi,
I have personalize a page and then exported the personalization.
Now my requirment is to migrate this personalization to other server, for which clients want steps specific to UNIX.
My doubt is where should I copy these files on the server to import the personalization using XMLImporter command? ( Client do not have JDev on his server, so can not use impot command)
my custom_top structure is like '/u02/int/applmgr/CUSTOM/xbol/11.5.0'
The customization is part of product 'OTA'
I am confused about where to put(Directory structure on custom top) customization and other MDS file to import using XMLImport.
This customization is also using a Custom LOV for which, I have given the path xbol/oracle/apps/ota/admin/enrollment/webui/XbolGradeRN.
For now I have transfered the file from window based JDeveloper and things are working fine. I need the UNIX directory structure for MDS files.
Please help to clear my this doubt.
    Regards,
    Adarsh

There is nothing specific to UNIX since the files are never picked from the file system on a production instance. You can place them under a temp directory with the proper package structure, the same way you exported personalizations for the seeded pages and the same custom package structure for your new pages and run import command. It's only how you run your import command matters, if you have placed the files in the proper package under some temp directory just give the -rootdir to point to your temp directory and no -rootPackage option.

  • Is it possible to Change Directory structure once the project is developed?

    Hello,
I am a Newbee to OAF development, I recently developed a JSP page using the oracle recommended directory structure "<companyname>.oracle.apps.<custom directory>." ie., for ex: "*xxcom*.oracle.apps.xxco.xxco_mapping.server", the page worked perfectly fine when I ran it from jDeveloper.
but when I tried to deployed the same in the server to run from Oracle Applications, I found that our organization's unix directory structure where I need to deploy the files is not the same, they are excluding the "<companyname>" directory in there structure, the directory structure in unix looks like this "$JAVA_TOP.oracle.apps.<custom directory>...." ie., for example: "/u06/appsw/appdevcomn/java/oracle/apps/xxco", so now I cannot deploy the page I have developed.
How do I resolve this issue? can I change the directory structure in jDeveloper now to match that on the server, ie., change it to "oracle.apps.xxco.xxco_mapping.server" instead of "*xxcom*.oracle.apps.xxco.xxco_mapping.server"
    Thanks

Yes, it is called refactoring. PLease see the link below:

    Mitch

iPhoto is not a Photo Viewer. It's a Photo Manager and designed for looking after the files while you organise the Photos. It really works much better if you let it manage those files. If you use iPhoto you never go near those files because iPhoto is your start point for anything you want to do with your Photos - the point of the pplication.
You can run iPhoto in Referenced mode, where it does not copy the files to the Library, but I caution you that you are making life a lot more difficult for yourself by doing that.

  • Project server 2013----new custom field value is not synced between my work assignment view and project professional

    Hi All,
I would like to add a new custom enterprise field in project server to caculate the effective work. I hope it can work as the default field "work" and "overtime work". And I add my custome enterprise field to my work assignment and the
related details view. User can update the values in "my task" but after PM accept the updates, these values are not synced to the project center as well as project professional. Any idea?
    Regards,
    Anna

Yes, I am saying that the PM cannot see the updated values in the enterprise project in Microsoft Project 2013. It is a task custom field. No errors for it. Would you please help create a task custom field on your side to see whether you can reproduce
this issue? After creating the field, please add it to the "My task" related views so that project members can update the value for the task when they update the task information under "my tasK" page. After that, open the project plan as
project manager to see whether you get the updated value. Thanks a lot!

    Anna
