New Lightroom community help system
Adobe is pleased to announce the new Lightroom community help system, which provides core Adobe documentation for Lightroom as well as links to additional learning content from around the web. The URL for the Lightroom community help system is http://learn.adobe.com/wiki/display/LR/Home.
The new site takes the current online helpLiveDocsand makes it more useful and interactive. You can still navigate to topics using links the left side of the browser. But now, when you click a topic to read about it, you'll find a Basics panel with Adobe documentation as well as a Learn More panel that offers links to tutorials, white papers, technical articles, and other instructional content.
This site is administered by Adobe, moderated by community experts, and developed with the assistance of a panel of Lightroom Learning Advisors. So you'll also find links to the moderators and advisors favorite Lightroom sites, plus links to troubleshooting sites and a page that lists third-party presets, galleries, and extensions.
We invite you to visit, comment on our documentation, add links to your favorite tutorials and articles, and share your opinions by commenting on the links that others have posted. And feel free to send feedback on the site to us at [email protected]

New Lightroom - need help updating from LR 5.6
I am missing my Creative Cloud app on my desktop. I would now like to update to the new version of Lightroom. How can I do this? (When I tried to download the CC manager app, I got error code 50.
Hi PicGal ,
Try to go to this discussion in the forum where a solution has already been found, see if it's the same problem.

Please take a survey about Help and Community Help.
Now that youve all had a chance to use the new Community Help system, please take a few moments and let us know what you think.
The best way is to fill out the survey that is behind the
"Give us feedback" link here.
In case you havent been exercising the new
Community Help system, please give it a spin.
If youd rather just send me a message instead of filling out a survey, go ahead and send me email at kopriva [at] adobe {dot} com.
Im especially interested to know how easy it is for you to find the information that youre looking for and how you feel about F1 taking you to the Community Help and Support page instead of the home page of the After Effects Help document. The question that most individuals ask is how can a person be sure that it is the good time to perform an alcohol or drug intervention. Some signs can be seen and once one is aware of them, its easier to decide a great time for an intervention. For example, a dependent person that drinks alcohol or does drug on a regular basis might begin changing his or her habits, spend ridiculous quantities of money to continue their dependency, less communication with the people that surround him or her, loss of weight, etc

Lightroom 3 upgrade to LR4 not registered in Community Help
I recently upgraded my copy of Adobe Lightroom from v3.6 to v4.2. After verifying the new install was working properly and converting the catalog I uninstalled v3.6. When I go to help in the Lightroom menu the Community Help application starts in its own window and displays help for version 4 in its right hand conent window as it should. However the left hand search pane displays "Search Bridge Content" - not "Search Lightroom Content" - in its search term entry box. The content choice pull-down menu next to the search term entry list Adobe Bridge CS5, Photoshop CS5, and Lightroom 3 (no longer installed), but NOT Lightroom 4 (currently installed). Similarly the Community Help home page lists Photoshop CS5, Bridge CS5, and Lightroom 3, but not Lightroom 4. How do I remove the old reference to Lightroom 3 references from both the "search help content" selection menu and the Community Help home page and replace it with Lightroom 4 as currently installed?
In a second issue, attempting to sign-in to my Adobe ID account through the Community Help Account menu fails even though the ID and password supplied are correct. After entereing my password and pressing "Sign In" the dialog box gets stuck on the screen with nothing happening, requiring me to close help and restart it to move on.Further complications .... after posting my first message I did some more searching which lead me to the Help Manager download page at http://www.adobe.com/support/chc/. Following the instructions I selcted the pull down for the product, exanded the list with the "more products" link, chose Lighteroom, and clicked the install button. Cliucking "Lightroom Help..." in Lightroom's Help menu now brings up Lightroom 4 instead of 3 BUT it is displayed in my browser, not the help viewer application where help was previously displayed. Further, my help menus for installed applcations Photoshop CS5.5 and Bridge CS5 are a) displaying online help instead of local help; and b) displaying help for CS6 instead of the installed CS5 versions as it should. There are no CS6 applications installed on the system.
The link in your reply does not download the configuraqtion file. Instead it opens the XML source code for the file in my browser. I have copied the complete XML code into a new text file, named it Lightroom_4.0.helpcfg, and saved it into the directory you specified but there is no apparent affect.
BTW, OS is Windows 7 32-bit. The application that opens when selecting "Adobe Help" from the Windows Start button application menu now identifies itself as "Adobe Help Manager 4.0.0.244" I believe previously it was the Help Viewer version 3.5.4 if memory serves. The Accessability Mode option settings that were previously avaiable in the application's General Settings page the allow one to choose between opening help in the Community Help application or in the browser are no longer there. -
I have Lightroom 1.4.1 and I just started shooting the Nikon D700. I cannot get Lightroom to read my new raw files, help... Is there a plug in or update I can get? I can't afford new software after new camera and new lense!
Lightroom 1.4.1 does not support native (NEF) files from the D700 because the camera didn't even exist when it was released. To get support you have two options: upgrade to Lr 2.x (paid for upgrade) or convert your NEF files to DNG.
DNG converter 5.4 can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/downloads/ (see right hand side of page) -
Community Help program ignores new PSE 12 installation
after uninstalling PSE 10 I installed PSE 12 & Premiere Elements 12 on my notebook (WIN 8.1)
for offline use the Adobe Community Help offers only the contents for PSE 10 and Premiere Elements 10 (was never installed!!)
as dowloadable files, the new insttalled 12 versions seem to be ignored.
Is it poosible to update the community help software or should I try to un- and reinstall it?
Frank(sorry if my question was unclear, english is not my native language)
my problem is NOT downloading or opening any pdfs,
Then using the help function in pse without permanent internet connection, it is possible to choose usage of "only local contents" in the pre-settings for help. When the computer is online, the selected contents will be downloaded and updated automaticly by the community help tool.
It works, but the problem is that the adobe community help tool only offers the WRONG contents (old pse version). So I think about reinstalling the help-tool

I connected my brand new iPod Classic 160 GB to my brand new Sony home entertainment system through the headphone jack (to the audio line in). The volume is ridiculously low. Can somebody help me out here?
Make sure the volume on the iPod is turned up fully, since this will affect what you hear through the stereo.
Make sure Volume Limit is set to full. (From Main Menu, Settings/Volume Limit)
If you purchased your iPod inside the EU (European Union), then the maximum volume from the headphone jack is lower than elsewhere in the world. If this is the case, buy yourself a 30-pin Dock Connector to 3.5mm jack lead, such as the one linked here...
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Decrescent-Connector-Stereo-Auxiliary-iPhone/dp/B007NIE5 EE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1386012456&sr=8-1&keywords=30+pin+to+3.5mm
That connector will take a higher volume out (than the European Union's output) and that will be louder (and hopefully loud enough) through your stereo. -
New update for Community Help application - version 3.5 now available
Hi: just a quick announcement that the engineering team has released version 3.5 of the Adobe Community Help application. This update is a very significant release that directly addresses a lot of the feedback that we’ve been hearing from the community. The most significant changes include:
Feature
Benefit
1.
Tabbed Browsing
Ability to open multiple pages from multiple sources simultaneously
2.
Favorites/Bookmarks
Ability to bookmark your favorite URLs; note: we prepopulate a set of suggested bookmarks for you based on the products you have installed. Users can of course add/edit/delete any bookmarks that they choose and can organize them via folders, etc.
3.
Search/Browse History
Ability to view previous pages browsed or search results (including previously used filter options, search collections, online/offline search status, refinements, and more).
4.
Flash Platform ASLR
Ensures developers only have to download one copy of the ASR and not separate, multiple copies for Flash vs. Flex, etc.
5.
Revamped local content download workflow
The entire local content download workflow has been reworked! We have removed the pop-up dialog box and moved the “content update” notification to the footer of the app as well as the homescreen. This ensures an uninterrupted workflow for users who simply want to access content first and foremost.
6.
Performance improvements
The team has worked especially hard on improving the start-up and browsing performance by consolidating a number of disparate server calls into a single initialization service that is only performed at launch. This enables us to cache a number of assets and reduce network calls/dependencies.
7.
Silent application updates
Similar to the changes in the local content download experience, we have also revamped the update experience for the application itself! Going forward, app updates will be downloaded in the background without interruption to the user workflow.
8.
Set-and-forget search options
Search options are now sticky from session to session – for example, if you check the Search Adobe Reference check box for Photoshop, the CHC will remember those options the next time you open the app. This applies to refinements too.
9.
Much more!!
Minimize to sytem tray (for PC users only); upgrade to Flex 4.1 and AIR 2.5; and many, many other enhancements, fixes, etc.!
Note: many of these features were part of our earlier 3.4 release – as some of you know, we had to pull down that release shortly after launch due to server/hardware issues. So only a few users were able to update at the time. CHC 3.5 is now a general release that will support all users and has been extensively tested to ensure robust performance and stability.
To update your app, simply open the Community Help application from your hard disc or visit our download page on adobe.com:
http://www.adobe.com/support/chc
Please leave your comments/feedback here in this forum -- and feel free to spread the word!Hi Mark!
I need to install latest Adobe Community Help silently to our corporate desktops. Are there any command-line syntax to do this and where I can download installer package?
Thanks.

RoboHelp Server 7 Help System Errors
Whenever I publish my RH 7 Help project to server, I check
the RoboHelp Server Web Administrator for errors. I always get Help
System Error "Requested file cannot be found" for a file called
bsscfp.txt. To my knowledge, this is a control file generated
during the publishing process. If this is the case why is an error
being generated for a file I have no control over? Also, I find the
Troubleshooting section of RoboHelp Server Web Administrator to be
rather useless in correcting issues. Is there any reference
documentation that explains some of the cryptic error messages that
appear in the Server Web Administrator screen?Hi, ouque and welcome to the forum.
Just to clarify your setup. When you say "Project pane" are
you referring to the Configuration Manager on the server itself.
Or, are you referring to something you are seeing from the RoboHelp
authoring client app's Server Administration pane?
If you have access to the actual server desktop and view the
Configuration Manager, sometimes on a new installation, you can do
a "refresh" and the project will show up.
A few more questions:
Have you tried accessing the website and does the project
come up in the web browser?
On what kind of web server did you install RHS7? Windows
2003, etc.?
Is Microsoft Indexing Services turned on?
Apparently you were able to successfully publish your project
to the server so there is "communication" between your desktop and
the server I gather.
A few more details and we'll try to help.
Thanx,

403 Error during communication with System Landscape Directory from RWB
Hi,
I've got a new install of PI (XI 7.0) SPS 10 and am getting an error whenever I try to access the SLD from RWB or Integration Builder. The SLD is running on the same server as XI.
I've been through the various config guides (strangely there doesnt seem to be one specifically for PI/XI 7.0), to configure RFC destinations, checked users are not locked etc.
I'm thinking it's probably a VA / Authorisations issue, but could use some ideas!
Here's a few errors just for reference (and future people searching!)
<i>
Error during communication with System Landscape Directory: HTTP response code: 403 (Forbidden)
Unable to read XI domain from the SLD. Monitoring cannot therefore be configured. Error message: com.sap.aii.rwb.exceptions.BuildLandscapeException: Error during communication with System Landscape Directory: HTTP response code: 403 (Forbidden)
No System Landscape Directory exists. Unable to generate the landscape
Unable to read software component versions from System Landscape Directory "my.server:51400" (have tried 8014 also)

I am new to Authorware and I am working on my first piece. I
have been trying to figure out how best to construct a help system
in Authorware that is similar to the format used in Microsoft's
HTML Help Workshop. This system allows you to search for help based
upon contents, an index as well as word search. Why build this in Authorware? Sounds like it would be far
quicker and
easier to just use one of the many help-builder tools out
there...
If stuck on Authorware, agreed with Amy - be more specific.
There are
text search functions in Authorware you could probably use.

Is it just me or does the new "online" help system in DW CS5 seem buggy? I'm not complaining by any means about DW as a whole. I love it. But Since the help system went online, for lack of a better description, it takes forever to load, everytime I do call it up it has to download an update which creates longer waittimes, and it seems to freeze(lockup) very often as well.
Again, is this just an isolated incident on my end? or is there an issue I should know about? report? Thanks for any input!teedoffnewbie wrote:

The Community Help program can be a bit annoying like that at times. I think that performance is affected by the speed of your internet connection.
Open the Community Help program, and select Edit > Preferences. In the General Settings section, set Accessibility Mode to "Open Help in Browser". That should load more quickly. -
Web 2.0 Online Help System
Hi,
I'm currently using RH 8 to generate WebHelp for various web-based applications. Unfortunately, the help system's appearance has been deemed outdated. I've been tasked with finding an online help solution that provides a cleaner appearance with a blog-type feel that provides a web 2.0 experience. I've provided a few sample online help solutions below.
Sample solutions:
[http://support.twitter.com/ | http://support.twitter.com/] (sans tweets)
[https://support.skype.com/en/ | https://support.skype.com/en/]
I would be more than willing to update to the latest version of RH if it can deliver this type of solution. Although all suggestions are welcome, the ideal solution should not require a client installation.
Thanks!
JoeHi Joe
As my fellow Community Professional Craig indicated above, the two examples do appear to be themed to match other elements of the sites.
Additionally, RoboHelp 8 doesn't offer a simple "make this single option choice" sort of way to create what you are asking about. But that doesn't mean it can't be done with a bit of work. If you were to upgrade to RoboHelp 10, it offers some new HTML 5 layouts that may offer something close to what you are looking for.
If you want to stick with RoboHelp 8, what you might to to get something similar to the Twitter page would be to eliminate everything but the Search field. Then eliminate the left navigation panel. You might even need to consider using ZoomSearch as described on fellow Community Professional Peter Grainge's site at the link below:
Click here to view Peter's site
If you omit the navigation frame as earlier described, you would then need to create a "home" page with links that point to the other pages.
Hopefully this helps... Rick -
Hey FMS Developers,
Adobe's new Community Help engine is now powering the Flash
Media Server 3.5 docs.
http://community.adobe.com/help/about.html
There are two parts of Community Help: search and commenting.
Search: When you search from the Flash Media Server Help and
Support page (
http://www.adobe.com/support/flashmediaserver/)
and select "Community Help" you're searching a custom set of URLs
that include the Flash Media Server docs and selected community
content (blogs, tutorial sites, and so on).
Commenting: You can log in and add comments to the Flash
Media Server 3.5 docs (
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FlashMediaServer/3.5_Welcome/).
Moderators approve comments and assign points for posts that
correct errors, add code examples, or augment the documentation.
I'm not honestly sure what happens with the points, but I'll find
out :-).
The docs are much improved when they include information from
your real-world experiences so I look forward to your feedback and
additions. Also, if you have any suggestions for the docs that you
want to send me personally, please feel free.
Thanks,
JOdy

Should take you to Using Adobe Flash CS4 (what I'm using or CS5 I'm guessing if you have updated).
Click ActionScript 2.0 and Components in left nav column.
Click ActionScript 2.0 Components Language Reference link in right content area.
Click the plus next to Actionscript 2.0 Components Language Reference in left nav tree column.
Scroll down to FLVPlayback Component.
Click the plus next to it.
What you need is there.
We used to have IE 6 at work and the pages don't work with that. (Not likely your problem, but just in case!)
Or you could just bookmark:
http://help.adobe.com/en_US/AS2LCR/Flash_10.0/help.html?content=Part4_AS2_Components_LangR ef_1.html
From there you can get all AS2 classes and component classes. -
Community Help doesn't work in ID5.5
A couple of the new 5.5 apps can't get to their online help. They return an Access Denied msg.
I believe the apps themselves store the appropriate link to Adobe Community Help, so I'd like to check that this link hasn't somehow become corrupted.
Does anyone know where this link (if it exists) gets installed? I have rummaged around in the file system, but without success.
I'm on Win7.
Thanks in advance,
AllenHere's the solution, from Mark Nichoson on the Community Help forum:
Hi: I deeply apologize for this issue. We have identified the cause and have pushed an immediate fix. To correct the issue, please follow the steps outlined in this document: http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/902/cpsid_90284.html
Here's the root cause: the Help application relies on a small XML file called the Help Configuration file. This file tells the application where to find and download the latest content. Unfortunately, this file was accidentally pushed with a staging address (help.stage.adobe.com) rather than the final production URL (help.adobe.com). There is a separate file for each point product and the Help application will automatically check for a new version on start up. However, to be absolutely safe/sure that you have the correct set of files, please follow the instructions outlined in the knowledgebase document above.
Again, our sincerest apologies for this issue. We are implementing new checks/processes to ensure that this does not happen again.
All the affected apps now show their community help correctly.
Allen
