New MacBook Pro has real printing issues.  Is it just me??????

Hi
I love my MacBook Pro but I am having horrible printing issues.
When I move my MacBook Pro from work to home I have to reboot everytime to make printing work otherwise I get error messages printing from Safari. Microsoft Office docs will print BUT only if I press the print button, if I go via the print menu I cannot press the print button.
This is causing me all sorts of pain.
Printers are an HP PSC2500 at home and an HP PSC2700 at work.
Machine was all 'transferred' from a Powerbook 1.67Ghz that was working perfectly.
Does anyone else have this problem or any idea what the fix could be??????
Cheers.
Robin

Try Reset Printing System, a manu choice in the Printer Setup Utility.

This is the second macbook pro i have owned in the past two weeks.  I am ready to return it for good if this is a chronic issue. Please help if you have had this same issue.

    Try a SMC reset:

  • Brand New MacBook Pro and Display Adaptor Issue

Hello fellow Mac users, I've been a long-time Mac user and owner.
I just got a new MacBook Pro after using a 2006 model for 2 years and am having a display adapter issue that I need help and advice with:
The new MacBook Pro has the mini DVI display connector, my non-Apple external display is does not support the mini DVI, no problem there, I bought the display adaptor...
Except that it doesn't fit the adaptor that fit the 2006 MacBook Pro.
    Please See Image at Link:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/sdjOcw1jrddqtAfjAU0Trw?feat=directlink
File comment: This is the adaptor that connected my 2006 MacBook Pro to the the display. It changes the connection from the Mac's DVI to fit the VGA connection of my display. There are the four extra pins around the flat pin to the left of the connector.
Somehow the male end of the mini DVI to the full-size DVI adaptor doesn't fit the female end of the full-size DVI to VGA adaptor! Please see the images. It seems a few extra pins prevent the connection!
    Please See Image at Link:
    http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/4bG788QVKGCOIJUkzHcjKg?feat=directlink
Comment: This is where the problems begin. The flat portion lacks the four holes needed for the DVI to VGA adaptor to connect.
Is it possible to just remove the four offending pins in the Full Size DVI to VGA Male End?
Any help or suggestions highly appreciated, because as of now, my brand new MacBook Pro is less useful than the 2006 model, which can connect to my external display.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Hi Rob with a Mac and welcome to the boards.
My suggestion would be that you simply take the adaptor back and get a mini-display port to VGA adaptor instead.
I ran into a similar problem myself recently when I wanted to connect my own MBP13 to an overhead projector. I had assumed that I could use the mini display to DVI adaptor that I use for the DVI capable external monitor with my new MacBook, combined with a DVI to VGA adaptor that I had for my 2007 MBP, connected to a VGA cable to do the job, but this is not possible.
MiniDisplay to VGA adaptors for the newer MBPs are readily available at Apple dealers or through the online store and not too expensive.
    Cheers

Turn off Find My iPhone in iCloud on the iDevice.
Log out of iMessage, Facetime, remove Apple ID from iTunes & App Store.
Use Settings > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Then set it up as a new iPhone with your own Apple ID.

  • Now that the new macbook pro has usb 3.0, is there a way to convert my current macbook's usb 2.0 to 3.0?

    No you can not.
You can connect USB 3 components to you MB if you wish to use them but will only run at USB 2 specs.

  • New MacBook Pro 13 i5 Wireless Issues.

I got the new MacBook Pro i5 2.3 the day it came out. So maybe a week and half ago.
I`m having intermittent wireless issues. I have done some testing and even replaced my older AirPort Base Station with the new Dual-Band one, but still seeing a drops from the network. I have a ping going to my router and to the ABSE. I tried changing the channel and using 5GHZ or 2.4GHZ. I also have a AirPort express and seen similar results. I tried reseting the PRAM, repairing permission, I did not reinstall the OS but I dont see how this would help. I think there is a hardware issue with the wireless card/antenna.
I did upgrade RAM and HDD was changed to SSD (intel G2 SSD). There are no other issues, machine is fast, no lock ups. Other devices on the network do not seem to drop any connections (ATV, ATV2, iPhone4, iPad etc..)
The network drop outs are short but are noticeable and if a ping is going I can see the drops

  • Configure New TM on a New Macbook pro with retina display Issue

I have bought a new New Macbook pro with retina display laptop (Lion moutain OS)and a new TM (2TB).
I have an internet router with wireless connect.
I plugged TM to the router with an ethernet cable.
Connect my TM to my macbook with an ethernet cable.(at this point I still cannot see TM on my Mac)
then I choose Time capsule from WiFi as shown below:
Then the airport utility (version 6.1) opened and start configuring TM but it gives an expected error when it is starting to join the TM!!!!
I have reset the TM several time but with no hope.
PS: I can configure the same TM on a normal laptop with windows 7 installed and Airport utility 5.6
I am struggling on this issue for weeks and I cannot yous TM on my macbook pro.
    Help please.

Time Capsule .. TC is the hardware box you bought.. Time Machine is the software you use in the Mac computer.. so what you generally refer to as TM is really TC.. !!
I can configure the same TM on a normal laptop with windows 7 installed and Airport utility 5.6
That is great.. you do not need to setup the Time Capsule at all then. It is already setup.. forget using 6.1 utility.. it is useless toy version.
Just use it.. open Time Machine and see if you can connect to the TC drive to do backup.. and to the wireless.
    From your statements..
Connect my TM to my macbook with an ethernet cable.(at this point I still cannot see TM on my Mac)
You are trying to connect with both wireless and ethernet at once.. This can mess things up. choose wireless or ethernet.. not both.
If you keep running into issues.. reset the TC.. I know yet again.
Set it up using SMB names.. for both the TC itself and wireless.
Then lock the wireless channel for 2.4ghz.. use channel 1, 6, or 11 (13 in europe) and see how it goes.

  • My new MacBook Pro has display problems

I am new to Mac. I had purchased a brand new MacBook Pro 13 inches with i7 processor on April2 this year, Within 10 days the display screen started to grey out and later  on develop horizontal lines. I telephoned Apple support and when a telephonic solution  became unlikely I was asked to take it to an Apple Authorized service centre in my town. The technician there could not clearly explain to me what was wrong with the system, but I understood him to say that he has reinstalled the graphics driver and the system was trouble free for a prolonged time thereafter (at the service centre). I also understood him to say that should the problem recur again, he would have to replace the motherboard. I was on a travelling tour for a week after this and was not able to test out this repair (I took my old windows system with me for the travel) To my utter dismay the problem has recurred again after 28 days of purchase. I have attached screenshots. The button for uploaing videos is greyed out therefore  I will have to restrict myself to screenshots. All the three screen images occcur
in turn and the system becomes unusable and I have to use the poweroff button. The display problems start within 10 minutes of switiching on the system.
I took some time to discover these forums. The first time this problem occurred on my machin I posted this problem on mac-forums and I was advised to take it to an Apple store and let the apple genius bar worry about this one. I do not live wihtin any sort of manageable distance from such a place and the repair centre is an Apple Authorized Service Provider
Coming to the emotional aspects of this technological glitch. I feel like I have been hit by a truck.I had saved and scraped pennies to buy this dream machine and I believed I was escaping the ficleness of windows. But no windows system of mine (I have three) become so unusable
Will I have to spend time and effort to lug this machine to service centre to replace each of its component parts one by one ? Can I ever trust this machine to provide a presentation to an audience? What sort of an impression will I create if the system plays this trick on me in the middle of some presentation?

Shootis007, What is CC company? I googled CC and got many different answers.
I called Apple Support and told them my story and pressed for replacement and they told me repeatedly that there is no policy for replacement. The initial support person who attended my call asked me to take it to the seller and ask the seller for replacement. I dont think that is the way to go. I dont know what is his fault. He gave me a brand new system, the package was opened by me. Since I am new to Mac, I had taken a Mac user friend with me who showed me how to get started (right there in the shop) Neither the experienced Mac user friend nor I felt anything remiss at that time or later at the Seller level. Nevertheless I called the reseller and he explained his helplessness. I dont think it his fault at all.
Since I kept insisting on replacment I was put through to another support person who took pains to reassure me that I should get the defective part replaced and thereafter all will be well. For now I trust him. I have no other alternative
I really am puzzled. All you dear Mac users should know that the machine I dreamed of and really saved to purchase is giving me no end of troubles whereas my three windows machines sit there with their numerous stated deficiencies but gives me uninterrupted service

  • New Macbook Pro has changed identities

Not sure exactly which device has caused the problem - we have two iphone 4S, two iPads, and an iMac - one of which has led my new Macbook Pro to think it belongs to my wife.  Though I did not enter her name when registering the computer, when I install new software, her name always comes up as the default name in the registration box.  I assume that either something cloud related has done this - since none of her devices have been physically plugged into the new Macbook Pro - or, less likely, that our home network is somehow involved.  Just need help determining which device is the most likely culprit, and maybe some help keeping our clouds separate?

The cloud was my first thought.  Since posting initially, I've noticed that a couple of programs downloaded on the iMac have shown up in downloads on the MacBook.  I just need to be able to build some sort of firewall between the two machines.  New enough to Mac that I'm not even clear where cloud settings are, and how to make adjustments to them.

  • Need help with linking my new macbook pro with my printer

i have a new macbook pro and i am trying to link it to my also new Canon PIXMA MX882 printer.  I went through installation and it said everything was complete, but when I go to choose a printer nothing shows up.  I am a new mac user.  please help!

It's not necessary to change your Apple ID often - maybe your password every six months or so, but not the email associated with the ID.
Have you contacted the Apple ID Support folks? You can reach them at -> http://www.apple.com/support/appleid/.
    Good luck,

trying to set up new macbook and has frozen during the process of using windows migration, now can,t get it to go

Try just holding down the power key to power off - you may have some files that migrated, maybe, maybe not.
You won't hurt anything - just have to try MA again if it doesn't work the first time.

  • New MacBook Pro has trouble reading DVD

Our new MacBook Pro will not automatically open a DVD when it is inserted. Had to go through DVD player and it said it did not recognize format. Had to manually select the app for it to play. DVD player is 5.1.1. Is this a bug? Linda

One DVD or all? Commercial DVD? One you burned? One you found lying on the street? More details would help...
Assuming you mean this occurs with multiple (all) commercial DVD movies, go to System Preferences > CDs & DVDs and set the 'When you insert a video DVD:' pop-up menu to Open DVD Player.

  • It doesn't seem like my new macbook pro has a battery

I got my new MacBook Pro 13-inch LED-backit widescreen notebook about a week ago. The first time i tried it, I plugged the Power Adapter in the whole time i used it. The next morning i tried using it, but this time i didn't have it plugged in. It wouldn't turn on. So, i plugged it in and then it worked fine. I searched for the problem and then i noticed that on the top right corner, the battery sign had an X on it. I clicked it and it said "No Batteries Available | Power Source: Power Adapter". i did a little experiment. i plugged off the Power Adapter during the middle of me using it and it completely shut down. I figured that it didn't come with a battery when i bought it. Is this normal and do i have to buy the battery seperately?

Absolutely not normal - check one more thing:
Go to the Apple in the menu bar and click on About this Mac, then on more info. Click on System Report. In the resulting window, click on Power and see what is listed there (hopefully the battery) - post the results here. If there is something wrong with the battery, call Apple - you have 90 day phone support (and a year hardware warranty) and/or book an appointment at your nearest Genius Bar.
FWIW, the new laptops have batteries built in (not accessible by user).

  • New Macbook Pro 2011 MAJOR battery issues

I just bought a refurbished Macbook Pro, it was built on a couple of months ago so it is pretty much brand new.
    17 inch.
I'm having some battery issues. Yesterday I noticed that my charger (l-shaped) wouldn't light up -
it also wouldn't charge. After some fiddling around the light came on but in my menubar it read - "Not Charging".
Eventually I reset my smc or whatever it's called and now it is charging -
    but now,
    1) it won't charge to 100.
    2) at 97 percent it shows 7 hours 26 minutes left and then BAM!
it goes right down to about 3 and a half hours. And I'm not running anything but the internet.
    What the heck?!?!?!

You said " it is a problem with ALL current macbook pros. I did take it to an Apple store and the "Genius" confirmed this.".
It seems to me that the problem then should have been rectified at the Apple store and yout post is unnecessary.  If the matter has not been resolved I suggest that you go back to the Genius Bar and have them fix it.  No one here can do so.
Please understand that we are here by our own volition, we are volunteers, we don't get paid, and I would say that we make our best effort to help others based on our respective knowledge bases.  Points are welcome but I suspect thank you's are more so.
    Ciao.

  • New macbook pro has a lot of spinning ball

    Hello everyone.
I am completely new in the Mac world and I dreamed for my Macbook pro for years so I hope you will understan my frustration.
    At the end of July I purchased a mid 2012 15 inch non-retina mbp - 2,6gb, 4mb ram, 500 gb hd.
Ever since I got it I experienced the spinning ball quite often. But because of my wish for perfection tried not to pay any attention to that.
Then 2 months later suddenly the SD card reader stopped working. So I brought it back to the shop and also complained about the spinning ball. They changed the logical board and told me everything will be fine now. Should not see any spinnig ball anymore.
I gave it a try for the weekend to do some projects where I had to use programs such as Adobe Ilustrator and Photoshop as well as Word, however the spinning ball was still there. Quite often it actually appears just by opening Safari or  Itunes, so not only heavier programs. sometimes just when waning to paste something or opening the Finder.
Brought it back to the shop again saying that it seems slower than my old ASUS that had no more than 4gb of RAM. Besides, this one is a new computer and it is empty, so how can it be so slow already now?
A week later I got it back saying it was a defective Hard drive cable that might have caused it. Changed, spinning wheel should be no longer there.
Gave it another try - spinnig wheel still there!
So now I am wondering - is that normal?
boyfriend says - is it normal, friends say - no, I never see it (still working on Adobe programs as well as having 4gb of ram and 2,4mhz)
My guess is that it might be the RAM? but then again - common, it is a new compter and I have only 50gb of information inside. how can it suffer already? Besidesthat, often the spinning ball appears on random situations in random programs. when I spend my day with the computer I see it like 5-10 times a day.
sometimes when I check the Memory activity the Wired memory goes up to 1,70gb out of my 4gb of RAM. Is that the issue? Once I restart the computer, it goes down again. But this is annyoing, right?
Please share your exprience and opinions,
    Best regards,
    Sarmite
