I just purchased a brand new HP Spectre x360 and the sound does not work. Please advise how I can fix this.

Hello, I am sort of experiencing this same problem too. On mine, the sound would ocassionally turn off. However, rebooting my PC, or disabling and re-enabling the windows audio would temporary solve this. The latter might work for you, though the sound problem could occur at anytime again. To do this: 1. Go to computer management. Move your cursor to the very bottom left corner and right click, and access computer management. 2. Once there, click on "Services and applicaiton" and then "services". 3. Scroll down to "windows audio properties" 4. Click "restart" the service Again, this appears to work for me, though it might not for you. Additionally, I found myself repeating said steps over and over again because the sound would sometimes stop. Furthermore, the "DTS audio" application on my x360 would sometimes make this static-like noise problem. When the audio enhancements are in use, any sound produce through the PC would make a somewhat unbearable cracking noise, essentially making watching and listening to videos and music less enjoyable. Additionally, if you turn off the sound "audio enhancements" in DTS Audio the cracking noise will stop, but then the tradeoff is good quality sound for bad quality sound. I'd assume this problem has something to do with the "sound off" problem too. For now, I am waiting to see if there is a solution for this, hopefully a "PC update". If not, I might have to ship it in to HP to have them check it out. Lastly, I have read about other PC users fixing the "sound off" problem by uninstalling windows 8.1 and reinstalling/reverting back to windows 8. I have not tried this yet, but it could work. Anyways, I hope I was at least somewhat helpful.

Static, fuzzy, crackling sound on brand new laptop

A static crackling sound is present when i listen to audio on my laptop. This is the second time i have purchased this laptop as the first one also had this problem and has continued with this one. i have run the sound diagnostic and no audio problems have been detected with the laptop and i have also updated the latop software but the problem still continues

Low sound. Brand new Pavilion Elite HPE-410f Tower and HP 2310m Monitor

Monitor does have the speakers and they are working, but the volume is so low as too be useless. What can I do to boost the sound. Was paying the extra money for internal speakers on a HP monitor a stupid thing to do? Can I even plug extra speakers in without disabling the monitor speakers?

How did you connect audio to the monitor? (analog with a separate cable or HDMI audio)
Did you turn up the audio in the monitor's menu?

HP Spectre x360 Security lock/cable?

I recently bought a notebook security cable thinking that it would work with my new HP Spectre x360. I couldnt figure out where it goes though. Does the Spectre x360 not have a kensington lock port? My sister's HP has one and I thought mine would too. If it doesn't have one, is there an alternative to the kensington port that I can use to lock up my computer?

Unfortunately there is no security lock on the Spectre x360. Why HP made such a glaring omission on this wonderful ultrabook is beyond me.

Brand new Ipod touch G4 with sound only in one earbud

I have a brand new Ipod touch G4 with sound only in one earbud. I have tried different types of headphones, but get the same result. If I jiggle the connector pin, I can get sound on both earbuds, but only on one side when the connector pin is push all the way in.
I have an older Ipod g4 without this problem
any suggestions?

Try on your ipod going to Settings-General-Accessibility. Scroll down into Hearing and see that Mono Audio is off. Maybe that's the problem.

Brand new iMac 27 has no sound

A buddy just got a brand new iMac 27, out the box last night. It has no sound.
He went to Systems Preferences and the Sound page provides no solution. Nothing can be clicked.
I know the solution is probably insanely simple, but cannot figure it out.
Help please.

The simple solution is take it back to Apple and ask them to fix it.

Brand new iMac will not boot, just make's funny "bonk" sound.

I have a brand new iMac (Intel, 20-inch flat panel). Just out of the box. Ran through set-up wizard. Used firewire to transfer files from an old CRT iMac. All was good for about an hour.
Tried to empty the trash. Finder says Trash was emptied, but, if I open the Trash, the 50-odd files I just deleted are still visible! If I try to select one, its icon immediately disappears. Hmmm....
I decide it's time to restart.
Upon restart, computer will not boot.
I push the power button. I hear the startup chime as usual. Screen lights up gray. But no apple logo on the screen. There is a long pause. Screen remains gray. Computer then starts making a soft "bonk" sound every 4-5 seconds. (Kind of hard to describe the sound, just imagine clipping the very first fraction of a second of the normal Mac startup chime, and repeating it every couple seconds.) This continues indefinitely.
If someone has experienced this, or has advice, please let me know your thoughts. Feeling rather bummed. Thanks in advance!!!

Since you're new to Macs, I'm sure you don't realize that while your iMac is sitting there with only a gray screen, you can insert/push in "Install Disc 1" - and it will be accepted. Then press and hold down the power button until iMac shuts down. After waiting a few seconds until everything has settled, press power button and immediately upon hearing the usual Mac startup tone/chime/chord hold down the "c" key until you see the spinning progress indicator below the Apple logo. It will boot to the DVD, you will be able to use (from the Utilties pull-down menu) Disk Utility to "repair" the hard drive directory, then you will be able to quit the installation process, choose Startup Disk from that same Utilities pull-down, and restart your iMac:)

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
- Restore from backup. See:

- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem, make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

If within warranty (yours is since the warranty is one year) and not abused, Apple will exchange it at no cost.

Brand new Nano 7th gen has no sound!

Brand new Nano 7th gen has no sound. I've tried 3 different headphones, turned volume up, watched the bar indicate the song is on play, cannot find a mute switch (or indicator on screen) and can't understand why I can't hear music. Can there be an earphone jack problem on a brand new Nano? Help please!

Are the headphones plugged all the way in? Does the FM radio work?

My brand new Macbook Pro makes an odd repetitive sound.

I recently bought a brand new macbook pro as I just returned my Macbook 2.4ghz only 2 weeks after using it as apple upgraded their whole line of laptops just after my purchase. The Macbook made no sounds when it turned on maybe a 2 second flicker noise when being woken up but thats it. My new MBP makes this repetitive sound 3 times over like it's taking in a disk when it's not, I haven't even installed a disk yet. Is there anyway I can fix this or will I have to take it to the genius bar?

I would disagree... Chances are that if it's bad enough to annoy you like you say then it is more than likely a problem and you should (again) take it back and show the person at the Apple store. I have a late 2008 Unibody MacBook Pro that I bought two months ago and the DVD drive stopped working properly as well (among other things).

Brand new Spectre XT Touchsmart 15t-4000 unable to recover

I just received my brand new Spectre XT Touchsmart 15t-4000 Product # A9G16AV a couple of weeks ago. It has Windows 8 Pro installed. I ended up doing a factory restore from the SSD after a couple of days and it worked fine.
I purchased a special 32GB USB 3.0 flash drive to create my recovery media 2 days ago. I created the recovery media and it verified the media successfuly. I wanted to verify that it actually worked so I would have it available in case of emergency. It had 3 options for recovery I first chose minimal install and after about 30 minutes it said recovery incomplete and it would say that everytime I rebooted. Then I chose to recover to factory condition. I came up with the same error. I finally chose to do a complete factory reset. I got the same error, but it went to the Desktop. I could not go to metro or anything, it did not complete the install. I was going to restore it from the SSD again, but had noticed that my recovery partion was erased along with all the other partitions it had when I received my computer. I contacted HP support on the phone which used 2 hours of my cell minutes. The Ticket # for this case is [Personal Information Removed]. I tested my SSD and it is fine. I ended up with 2 options. 1. Send my computer to HP for them to restore my system. 2. Have Recovery media sent to me. Option 1 is out, my computer is brand new & I am not shipping it anywhere. Option 2 was OK, but they said they could not send me a USB recovery drive because they did not have those. I was told they could send me Recovery DVD's. I don't have a DVD drive and did not want to buy one as I just spent $1700.00 on this computer. The tech said he would call me back yesterday and see if there was anything else they could do, he never called. He did not call today either. I tried to call him and it is impossible to call and get a specefic person. I decided today I would go ahead and buy a USB DVD Burner and just have them send me the recovery disk so I ordered one from HP and it will be here next week. In the mean time I don't know how to get the Recovery DVD's sent to me that I was told was an option. I keep getting the run around. All I want is for my computer to be back like it was when I first got it a couple of weeks ago. Right now I cannot even use it.
I also have the Total Care 3 year accidental damage in home service for this laptop. Can anyone of you experts help me? I would greatly appreciate it!

I see your resolved the recovery issue by turning the date back to 2012 in the BIOS.
We will soon have new recovery media available to resolve this.
We will also have a softpaq available that will fix teh Recovery from F11

Bought a brand new iMac, got free Lion upgrade, installed it, NO SOUND

I went to best buy because I am opening a recording studio and i was sick of dealing with software a driver issues that i was having with Windows. So i bought a brand new iMac, it came factory with snow leopard but i was elligible for the free upgrade to lion, which i downloaded from the app store. I ran installation, and since then i have no audio control, when i go into "sound" settings it shows no audio input or output devices. This is my first time owning a mac so i am very unfamiliar with the operating systems and what not. This is quite frustrating when the main reason i bought this computer was for music and now i have no audio. I bought a Mac so i didnt have to deal with these sorts of issues. haha. if you have any insightful information for me, please shre. thank you.

Try two things:
Reset the SMC and PRAM (instuctions in knowledge base articles.
If that does not help, either take the computer to an Apple strore or call Applecare. You are within the warranty period so there should be no cost to you at all.

My brand new iPad Air 2 is making a random popping sound.

My brand new iPad Air 2 is making a random popping sound and there are crackling sounds when I have the earphones plugged in and browsing with no music. Guy at Apple store could not replicate it when I walked in. Is this normal?
Should I get it replaced and what are the chances that its going to happen again?

Around here I've seen many posters that have renamed the ipad air 2 the "Ipop". You should read some of the older posts by clicking on View More at the bottom of the page until you come across it or do a search for Ipad air 2 popping noise. Last I saw it was hit or miss. Good luck.

Only sound from my right internal speaker on my new hp stream X360 PC 11

hi, just opend my new HP Stream X360 PC 11 and it´s only sound from my right internal speaker. the system is updated and ive done the soundtest and the sound comes thru the right speaker even when i push the left speker test button.... softwere or back to the shop...

Were you able to contact Apple, about this issue, while under warranty?
If there is a hardware cause of the problem or other, they may fix it or
at least diagnose the underlying cause...
