Number range based on different business area for same document type

Hi All,
The scenario is my client wants to give the different number range for a particular document type based on different business area.
Is there any user exit by which I can restrict the same.
Regards,
Meenakshi

Hello,
Document number ranges are created per company code and fiscal year. You cannot create / restrict the document number ranges per business area.
Business areas a independent of all organizational values, they cut across all company codes.

  • Different number range for different  sales area but same order type

i have 2 different sales area but i have assigned same sales order type for 2 different sales area,
but i need the number range different for different sales area for that same sales doc type,
is that there is any user exists for number range? if so how can i find the user exists

    Hi,
You can surely have a different number range per Sales Area. For this you will have to make use of a User Exit (which would surpass the standard SAP functionality). Try USEREXIT_NUMBER_RANGE.
Maintain the desired range in VN01 with the respective Range Keys.
Make a custom table comprising of Sales Area and Number Range keys (same keys which you maintained in VN01).
Now everytime, the system will check which sales area is used and accordingly, it will fetch the Number Range Key~Sales Area combination from the custom table, and will pick up the number range from VN01.
Coding should done by a good technical guy to make this work nicely.
    Hope this helps you.

  • Handling Business Area for sales documents

    Hi Experts,
My requirement is that , I have to change the default Business area  , determined by the system , at the time of sales document creation . For Eg: I have two business areas 0001 and 0002.
When i create a sales document , by default system determined business area 0001. But  if certain conditions are met , i have to change the business area to 0002. and finally when we post the document to the Accounting after billing , the document must hit the business area 0002.I could able to change the business area in the sales documents through the user-exits available for Delivery document and Billing document .But when i post the document into accounting , the entries are going into wrong business area . How to handle this situation.
    Thanx in advance.
    Durga.

You mean there is a different business area in sales and account document after creation? Are you sure?
Or your user exits might not be updating properly? else system might be re-defining business area in accounting thru configuration.

  • 2 business areas for same accouting doument

    Hi,
We have released the Accounting document and we have seen that 2 business area assigned for same accounting document.
Customer line item has one business area
Remaining GL account has one business area.
One thing I need to understand that how customer line item has different business area from the remaining line items.
How business area will determine for the customer line item.
    Thanks,
    Venkata harish.

    harish venkat,
Your business area may come from manual input or substitution rule. You have to check your business area purpose. If you are looking for a balance sheet report this isn't the best solution because you won't close your balance.

  • Duplicate BP Reference Numbers for same document type -need check on orders

    Version: (2007A)
    Description of requirements:
The user is allowed to create two sales orders for the same customer that have exactly the same BP Reference. When the user invoices one of them and then tries to invoice another, they are  warned that there is already a document of the same type with this reference number. The problem is, they ship the goods out physically before they actually create the invoice document, so that by the time they are entering the invoice in the system, the goods have already been shipped twice, when they should only have been shipped once, If they were warned when they were adding or updating the order, then this could be prevented from happening. Same thing for vendors. Our customers would like to have the check for duplicate BP references on the purchase order as well as on the AP Invoices.
Business needs: Our Clientsu2019 customers are receiving duplicate shipments and this has a negative impact on their business relationship as it creates costly extra work and inconvenience for all.
Examples: Would like the same check that is currently on AR and AP Invoices for the same BP reference number existing already on the same document type implemented on the sales order and purchase order. When the user is adding an invoice for a BP and there is already an invoice for the BP with the same BP reference number, the user is warned and asked if they want to continue.
Current Workaround: None. As our customers often physically ship the goods before creating an invoice from the order, there are duplicate shipments and this is most inconvenient and costly to our customers as well as their customers.
Proposed solution: see above. This is a high priority item for our customers.

    hi,
Use SP_TransactionNotification to block sales order & purchase order from adding having duplicate bp reference number.

  • Business area for billing document

    Hi Experts
Document type RV which is billing document (VF01) is auto generated line item for service tax code but while generate the GL report business area is not picked for this GL. Business area is picked for other line item in same transaction but not for this. New GL is activated, field status checked. Kindly guide me.

    Hi
How is service tax mapped for getting entries generated through VF01. Is it mapped using With Holding tax or through tax on sales/purchase? You need to make sure that FIN_GSBER is a scenario for New GL. Are you using Document Splitting in New GL? If yes, check for the following things:
    1. The Business Transaction Variant assigned to Document Type RV allows Tax on Sales/Purchase Item Category (05100) and With Holding Tax Item Category (05200)
    2. Check the Transaction Variant Assigned to RV. It should be 0200.

  • Document Splitting with Different Business Area

    HI
I have a situation, where i need to create a new document type and it needs to be configured in such a way that vendor invoices and credit notes can be booked with the correct doc splitting and using different Business Areas.
I like to know if this is possible, and if yes how.
Earlier the client used to post the transactions, with different business areas, as we get only a warning message to reset the business area of the vendor.
Now that we have activated New G/L accounting, with document splitting we get the warning message,
but then the profit center will not balance, so we have an error.
The client requires that they need to post to a different business area, and the document splitting should happen.
Any suggestions on this will be great.

    Hi Srikanth,
In my config setting under Document Splitting i have the Zero Balance ticked for it.
My Scenario is as an Ex. I am debiting a G/L account for 1000, and giving Business Area X, with a cost Center which is assigned to Business Area X.
And Crediting a Vendor for 1000 with Business Area Y.
Will this scenario work with Document Splitting enabled, i am doubtful on this, but my client needs this.
Can you tell me if this is a possible scnerio.
    If yes then how?

  • Seperate  no range for same doc type in 2 co codes

    Hi,
    I have created two company codes 1000 & 2000.
    Under 1000 I've EOU plant 1111 & under 2000 I've domestic plant 2222.
Now, I've created PO document types. I've assigned no range to them.
But I want to use the same document type for both the plants but with different range(say 1100..00 for plant 1111 & 220000..00).
    Is it possible?
Last option is to create seperate doc type for each plant, but I don't want to do that.
    Guide me on this.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Piyush

For the same document type for two different company code you can create two different number range.
IN Spro-mm-Purchasing Purchase order document type -- enter the number range for the document type
    Eg
    Company code   Doctype    number range
         AAA                 NB                 1000-1010
         BBB                 NB                 2000-2010

  • GR/IR Automatic Clearing for Different Business areas items

    Hello All,
we have different business areas, and some times we create a PO for all business areas and invoice it in a specific business area
    in F.13 automatic clearing:
    for GR/IR account
Documents with different business area cannot be cleared.
any idea to solve this issue is appreciated,

    Thanks for your reply,
I've tried such a solution with more parameters ( EBELN, XREF3 and EBELP)
    but in F.13 :
    - the document cannot be cleared when >>> selecting GR/IR account special process.
if we treat GR account as a normal GL account, I mean without selecting GR/IR account special process.
    the document can be clear
i want to be able to clear the document with selecting GR/IR field ( is it possible )
and if it is not allowed, do we will face a problem by clearing GR account without selecting GR/IR parameter ??
    Many Thanks

    Hello,
You can use MRM_HEADER_CHECK bAdI for this validation.
    or
You can use Enhancement (CMOD transaction) LMR1M001 -EXIT_SAPLMRMP_010 for this validation

  • Proper use of one table in different business areas

    Hi
We will be using certain DB tables in several business areas and we are more than one person to define them.
If a table is loaded from the database for each of the business areas it will be numbered 'table 1, 2...' which does't seem very desirable. Also I'd rather define hiearchies only once and for all.
If a table is loaded only once and used for all the business areas all the joins which are necessary in the different business areas are shown. This will be confusing. If one of us considers a certain join unnecessary he might accidentially delete the wrong one belonging to a different business area.
Exporting the business areas including the joins regularly is probably not a great help if afterwards new joins for other business areas were added.(?)
Am I misunderstanding the concept of Discoverer?
How do you handle such a situation?
    Advice appreciated
    Franziska

    Hi Michael, et al,
I'm just planning my EUL and your comments in the last post seem relevant.
My general plan is as follows:
    (1) Create a BaseMaster BA which is used to bring and tables/views from the database into disco. The folders in here will be created with "New Folder from database" and be fairly straightforward, with only very simple calculations and no aggregations in calculations. The joins will echo the joins in the underlying database. This is not shared with Users.
    (2) Create a CustomMaster BA which contains Custom Folders which consist of various SQL views of the database. The SQL in these may use have some more complex calculations and these calculations may include aggregation. This will not be shared with users.
    (3) Create a CentralMaster BA which contains Complex Folders which are assembled from items from the BaseMaster BA and the CustomMaster BA. These folders may include more complex calculations and the calculations may include aggregated items.
    (4) Create a number of User BA's. Using Manage Folders, share the relevant Folders from the Central Master.
I've got a few questions relating to this.
    (a) Custom Folders based on Folders
It would seem nice to me if it were possible to create Custom Folders which were based on other Folders, rather than Database Views. Then, even if you need a view and a complex transformation of that view in your business area, you still only have one place where the EUL brings that view into disco. My understanding is that this is not possible. Am I right? I suppose there could be an argument that complex transformations should be pushed back to the DBA but it seems reasonable to me that sometimes this sort of thing could be within the remit of the disco admin?
    (b) SQL Efficiency
Am I right in thinking that generally a complex folder is usually not much less efficient than using a base folder because the SQL interpreter ends up optimising the SQL?
And a last question which has turned out rather complex - by all means ignore it if you like - it's me getting to grips with the process.
    (c) Nested Complex Folders
I presume that if a transformation is needed which would in a normal database environment would need a mainquery and a subquery, then this could be done in a
number of ways (adhering to the above methodology) by:
    (i) Get the DBA to write a view which does both mainquery and subquery and then bring into the BaseMaster and then straight into the CentralMaster folder.
(ii) Get the DBA to write the subquery, bring this into the BaseMaster and then implement the mainquery in the CentralMaster.
(iii) Create a Folder in CustomMaster which implements both mainquery and subquery and then bring this into the CentralMaster folder.
(iv) Create a Folder in the CustomMaster which implements just the subquery and then implement the main query in the Central Master.
If you've got this far - thankyou for baring with me.
Perhaps there's something written about this sort of thing or maybe it's just a matter of practice!
Any thoughts on all this would be much appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Suhada

  • Same Document type, Different number ranges

    All SAP Gurus,

Is it possible to assign different number ranges to them?

  • Structuring a Business Area for Reporting Periods and Points in Time

    Dear all,
I'm in the process of designing my first business area for discoverer.
The database is for people staying in accommodation over various periods.
(Anything from individual days to periods of 15 years!!)
The reports I'm producing fall into two categories:
    (a) Reports on periods of time such as:
Accomodation days during a year broken down by Region
Trend of accommodation days per month during a two year period
    (b) Reports on a particular point in time such as:
Number of people in accommodation on a particular day
I'm trying to work out how to structure the business area.
If I think about requirement (a), I'm inclined to create a view which
splits up periods into one month chunks (the smallest period I think I need).
By this I mean having a view which gives me a row for every month for which any period of accommodation is active. This makes reporting on a monthly basis fairly easy.
If I think about (b), I'm inclined to create a view which leaves the accommodation periods as single rows and then calculate a boolean field which indicates whether that accomodation is active on the date in question.
It seems that these two requirements need different structures in the business area. Maybe it's best to create two folders which draw on the two different views.
    Any thought would be appreciated.
    Regards
    Suhada

    Hi,
As you would probably expect, it all depends on your requirement and the table design.
You can create a date hierarchy in Discoverer that contains the day, month, year levels and this will make it easy to create reports with totals aggregated at these levels.
However, if your table contains, for example, the start and end dates when people move in and out of accommodation, then you will need to have a period table so that you can report on the months between the start and end dates. The period table will list all past and future months and you can join this to your data to obtain totals for all the periods.
If you need to have reports that display zeros or nulls for periods where there is no data, then you will need to outer join your data with a period table.
The decision on whether to use views or folders and joins in the EUL depends on the complexity of your data model. If you need to join many tables together to produce a single report, then you should consider putting some or all the joins into database views.
    Hope that helps,

  • SD number range based on company codes

    Dear all,
We have two company codes in one client. We want to create  separate SD number ranges based on company codes. Is there any possibilities to do this. Please advice.
    Regards,
    Abdul jabbar

    Abdul,
If you have  different doc types for two company codes then you can maintain different number ranges in standard for two company codes.
If you have same doc types for two company codes then you have to go for enhancement.
    1. Create one ztable: Maintain the entries like below.
    company code
    SD document categ.
    Document type
    Sequence Number
    Prefix code

    2. In SNRO Maitain the number Ranges interval
First system take the number range interval and searches for the entry in ztable and prefix the code as per the ztable enteries.
By this u can differentiate the number ranges by company code.
Revert back to the forum if need any clarification.
